>Do the SMART Minifigures make sounds?
>Not by themselves. Instead, they prompt nearby SMART Bricks to make their sounds for them!

>Each SMART Minifigure reacts uniquely to the environment around them. They do that through their own sounds, moods and reactions, which are played back to you via the built-in speaker inside the SMART Brick.

>Just place SMART Minifigures close to SMART Bricks to unlock that glorious SMART Play™ action!
So the minifigs don't actually make sounds? No boom boom? Because it seems it doesn't include a battery, only the bricks seem to.
>>
>>11666959
>The SMART Play™ System is our most revolutionary innovation since the creation of the minifigure in 1978.

>Using cutting-edge technology, it responds precisely to how kids play. In other words, when you play, the SMART Brick plays back.

>There are three key pieces that work together:

>The SMART Brick. A 2x4 LEGO brick that recognizes SMART Tags and SMART Minifigures. It also has a built-in accelerometer which knows how it is being moved through the air, and brings play to life in incredible ways.
>The SMART Tags. These clever little tiles tell the SMART Brick what it should become, to help it play back with you.
>The SMART Minifigures. When placed next to a SMART Brick, you’ll discover how each SMART Minifigure reacts differently to its environment with unique sounds, moods and reactions – all of which are played through the SMART Brick.
>>
>>11666959
Seems like the fig itself is just an nfc tag like the tile on the car. Which makes their sealed body even more stupid. Do nfc tags get fucked up by water?

>brick knows it's used for plane because of plane tag
is this suppose to be imppressive?
lol?
>>
>>11666961
Ok, the minifigs don't make sounds, it's the brick that does, the brick just scans minifigs and gives the corresponding sounds to the characters:

>It’s the brains of the operation.

>The 2x4 SMART Brick is packed with enough tech to launch a rocket to the Moon (... maybe if you have a couple of extra rockets lying around...). It has responsive lights, a color-recognition scanner to sense its surroundings, a sound synthesizer that plays almost any sound, and a built-in accelerometer. This detects the way it is twisted, turned and tapped during play.

>All this juicy tech means it can react to how kids play – and then play back!

>When placed on top of or close to a SMART Tag, the SMART Brick becomes whatever the SMART Tag tells it to. Meaning it can be a helicopter one second and a car the next.

>But it also can sense the presence of SMART Minifigures to help bring your stories to life in ways never seen before. The SMART Brick reveals each SMART Minifigure’s unique sounds, moods and reactions.
>>
So, this means the minifigs don't explode? They don't have batteries? Then why the scare all these months?
>>
>>11666962
Maybe they didn't want kids to eat it?

>>
>they started work in 2017
Damn

>It’s a level of technical production we’ve literally never seen before at the LEGO Group.

>Why have we pulled out all the stops? Because we truly believe we have made a step towards defining the future of play for kids. We’re not thinking about the next one or two years, or the next few sets. We’re thinking about the next century of play.

>And it’s a journey that’s only just begun.

I foresee that it shall come to pass. Already the second wave shall see a decrease in volume and by the third only a single set may remain. Provided they infest other themes with said brick, we might see city or duplo carrying it on in perpetuality, otherwise it will have been another failed endeavour by lego. I think it has more potential than previous gizmos at least, on account of it being activated by the tags. No buttons, no phone VR, no cables, i see kids loving this.
On the other hand, i can already smell the jewwy bullshit with those, you get 2 tags and a fig in a set, if your kid is bored with the car sounds and wants it to make horse sounds, you need to get a set that has that tag. Or maybe gacha with "smart" polybags, $49.99

Apparently Jabil make the tech components for smart bricks, someone broke NDA on reddit and Lego did a mass deletion. It seems Lego doesn't want people to point out Jabil makes tech for defense too (military).

>Jabil is a large contract manufacturer for a sizeable number of electronics companies. Their scope might be beyond that, but it's what I know them for. They manufacture around 90% of the printed circuit assemblies in my line of work, including prototypes that the public won't see for years. There are NDAs everywhere.

Its really fucked up how controlling Lego is. I think they must hire people to lurk reddit because I remember a mod there saying they had to take down anything with off brands or lego would threaten them with a cease and desist to delete the whole sub. And then there was bricklink.
>>
I look forward to battery leakage from smartfigs in the next 10 years. Flea market dumpster anon you better be careful
>>
>>11667393
Smartfigs don't have batteries, it's the smart brick that does.
>>
>>11667392
As you all know, LEGO leaks are directly controlled by LEGO, so when a leak that was not planned by them happens, they remove it. For example, the Smart Pikachu leak from a few months ago is very hard to find in good quality online. Why? Because LEGO deletes it, since that leak was not intended or planned by them.
>>
>>11667369
I wasn't joking when I made a 2001 space odyssey joke
>>
>>11667398
what
>>
>>11667396
And I want you to keep this in mind: back in the day, LEGO was not controlling leaks or leakers. Many sets leaked, including classic catalog leaks. For a long time, LEGO struggled with this, but eventually they managed to reduce and control most leaks.
Everything really changed around 2023, in my opinion, when the entire 18+ lineup of large sets leaked—sets that were meant to release in 2024. That was a massive leak LEGO definitely didn’t want at the time. However, something interesting happened: LEGO noticed that the leaks created huge hype in the community, sparked nonstop discussion, and when the sets actually released, sales exceeded expectations. Out of that big leak, only one set didn’t make it to release, and another was repurposed.
So what did LEGO do next? They adapted.
They likely came up with a new strategy: buy out the last genuine leakers, give them LAN membership, free sets, and early access to future products in exchange for generating hype through controlled, planned leaks. Don’t you find it interesting that when a leak happens, nearly every major leak account on Instagram or YouTube—like aClayBricks, GetCooped, Palnet, LEGO Minecraft Goat, and others—posts it at the exact same time?
Why does the BrickTap server even exist?
It all seems coordinated. LEGO now uses leaks as a marketing tool to create excitement and discussion. Do rogue leakers still exist? Sure—but LEGO actively tries to shut them down (their accounts, not real life lol).
What I’m trying to say is this: LEGO leaks have become part of LEGO’s business strategy. Something they once hated is now something they actively use.
>>

Reminder, five years ago:
>As you know, we launched LEGO VIDIYO in January to connect with children in a completely new way, blending music, digital play and LEGO building in a fun and unique way. The product tested extremely well during development and has received really positive feedback from those children and families who have played with it.

four years ago:
>In July 2021 we decided to pause the LEGO VIDIYO roll-out to review performance and test new ideas. Through the extensive quantitative and qualitative research we have undertaken in the previous months, we have gained an enormous amount of learnings in terms of the music & content creation space and what it would take to succeed with the play experience, our go-to-market strategy in 2023 and not least how to build a sustainable business based on the VIDIYO experience.
>Based on these insights we have decided to discontinue the physical VIDIYO products from January 31st 2022

So I guess the smart play will be the debate for the rest of the decade in the community? Sort of like minidolls, right? >>
>>11667433
I don't really care that they put kid-focused elements into some of the sets, that's the whole point. Let kids have fun and play too, and it isn't like EVERY set in the themes are going to have them. The issues I see are:

Price. Looks like the bricks and chargers and shit are going to come in the bigger sets, right? Lego is already pushing it on price, and these smart sets are criminally priced. I really don't think people should be beholden to the "price per piece" thing, but it is a decent guideline to go by at least, and going by that most of these sets are 2x the price of what they should be.

It also seems like a novelty. Will kids get bored and move on? Also, there are an awful lot of elements that a little kid will need to keep track of and not lose. You have to: Keep track of chargers, keep track of smart bricks, keep track of smart minifigures, keep track of the chip plate things, etc.

Are parents going to rebuy shit at these bloated prices because little Timmy loses the smart brick or one of the minifigures every week?
>>
>>11667442
From what we know there are smart brick sets that are expensive but the smart play minifig sets will be cheaper, more in line with normal lego prices and those sets will work on their own as normal analogic sets and the smart brick, which they say only one is needed, allows for more play. But they work on their own separate. We should have final prices when they hit pre-order this weekend. Also, maybe down the line they sell smart bricks on their own.

The smart play system seems to use elements which lego used in Fusion, Ultra Agents, Nexo Knights, Hidden Side, Vidiyo and Super Mario. So all of these themes were just testing ground for this whole evolution Lego plans for their brand. Quite crazy.

>he thinks lego will admit flop
Anon, star wars and pokemon sell, that's why Lego chose them. It's clear Lego wants to replace the classic system with smart play system down the line and they didn't work 10 years for nothing.
>>
30 years old now, my mommy told me not to buy lego anymore... bought 2 large Technic sets, 1 large crane, 2 small technic set and one creator set for 3 month

42221 will be my last set...

Today’s LSW news took me on a full emotional rollercoaster, and as someone who’s emotional asf, “to say the least” feels criminally inadequate.
(I’m also firmly in the camp that TLG strategically leaked these sets alongside the Smart Play reveals. Checkmate, LEGO.)

>>
>>11667484
>why it took 10 years
Because Disney will never admit a failure of that magnitude, same with LEGO and Dreamzzz or these Smart Play products, whether they fail or not. LEGO will never admit failure; they only did so with Bionicle G2 and Vidiyo, and those were cases of colossal failures. At worst, Smart Bricks will have mediocre sales, but not terrible ones like Vidiyo.
>>
>>11667485
And why did they admit G2 and Vidiyo? Because Vidiyo was not an internal product but a co-production with Universal Music so they wanted to cut loses with their partner meanwhile with Bionicle it was because a part of the Lego leadership HATES Bionicle.
>>
Just built the Anniversary Display set. Well, it's simply wonderful. Truly a generational Ninjago set. The build works really well and it's very displayable. The minifigures are aplenty, and they look fantastic. Still don't like the ZX armour being golden for all the Ninja though; it definitely leaves a (very small) sour aftertaste.
>>
>>11666893
For some reason I like all 7 SMART PLAY sets. I try to collect Throne Room and Millennium Falcon... and then all of them. I might even be only 1 here who likes design of these sets a lot. I don't by SW sets. I haven't seen these new TV shows. Not even LEGO Rebuild the Galaxy. Put Echo Base and those 2. I will by SW. I will start to follow SW.

Smart Bricks, minifigures, plates, will change LEGO forever. This is something awesome.

Only one is needed if you don't mind moving the brick between the builds (like the fighter, the fuel truck, and the computer in the x-wing set). And also don't mind nothing working when it needs charging.

>>
>>11667569
Remove the Smart Brick related slop and drop the price by $40 or $50, and I'd agree. They have the simplicity and charm of the 1999/early 2000s sets, with a modern filter on top. However the yare dragged down by Lego's trend chasing needs
>>
>>11667573
>$40-$50
Other than the sets that include the smart brick, I think they aren’t priced too badly compared to other modern Star Wars sets. Even sets from back in the day, adjusted for inflation, weren’t cheap. The idea that LEGO was cheap back then was, and still is, a myth.
>>

A Kini Nui with the 7 Toa Mata as minifigs and buildable Makuta would be a pretty fun set. But done like this they'd probably have generic printed masks, which isnt id. I guess we'll see how the CMF Tahu comes out, but I'm expecting a new mold for his mask. The head underneath would of course be the Mata head printed on. Then again, could they make masks that small while capturing at least the essential details of the masks?

I haven't watched ninjago in 15 years but I just don't get it. I mean it's cool and there's a lot to it but if you look past all the colours it's just immortal heroes that fight new iterations of enemies with increasingly tenuous or repetitive motivations. I mean, it has to be like that right? It's a kids show? And unlike the clone wars it is truly a KID'S show, no?

I still see the appeal but I couldn't satisfy myself with the canon storyline. I'd have to make up my own whilst also ignoring some characters entirely.

Again, I've not seen the show in more than a decade so feel free to enlighten me.

Basically, four color-coded ninja morons, because they are idiots for most of the time, (Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane), spin really fast and somehow save Ninjago every Tuesday. Then Lloyd shows up, becomes the Green Ninja, speedruns destiny, and deletes the Overlord like it’s a bad boss fight. After that, it’s just nonstop chaos: snake people, ghosts, pirates, time clowns, an evil robot Twitter user (because they are evil), demon Oni, and assorted war criminals, all getting their turn to wreck the city. Ninjago gets destroyed and rebuilt so many times it’s basically Lego Detroit.

Zane literally dies, comes back, dies again emotionally, and keeps going because he’s built different. Lloyd spends the entire series having a leadership and destiny crisis like a shonen protagonist stuck in therapy. Somehow the show also sneaks in actual depth, romance triangles, emotional baggage, debt problems, and characters spiraling like it’s an HBO drama made of plastic bricks. Cole realizes he’s gay after years of being “straight as a lie” and comes to terms with himself. Jay goes full villain arc in *Dragons Rising* because why not, then turns good again because status quo demands it.

By *Ninjago: Dragons Rising*, reality itself breaks, all the realms smash together, new kids show up, and the ninja are suddenly defending the multiverse instead of just one extremely unlucky city. It’s insane. Honestly, you could jump straight into *Dragons Rising* and just absorb the lore through YouTube recap osmosis, DR mostly works on its own anyway.

if it's been a while since you've checked, you might be surprised to research and find there's one near you. (good luck!)

prices are a tiny bit higher than when I check on Bricklink (I always check to make sure I'm not getting ripped-off) but it's right in my hand with no other hassles, so it's worth a buck or two. and sometimes I luck out with a great find

I think the biggest tech part is the accelerometer, or whatever it's called, that measures the brick's movement in space.

there was a part in the demo where he moved it along a colored ruler, and then when he removed the ruler, the bricks still changed colors like it remembered where along the ruler it was, as it was moved back and forth, and then even up and down.

and I think it was doing a laser-tag thing, where the bricks were "looking" for each other, and registering hits when they connected (?)

is that the point of the smart figures and brick-tile tags? it seems ridiculous to imagine the music and sound effects are maintained outside the important [Smart Brick] but that should be the case. the Darth Vader tune is in himself, and would function with ANY [Smart Brick]

no 9-year-old kid is going to want to figure that out, and no parent is going to want to figure that out, either. I cringe at the thought you would need to update a toy via Bluetooth, that sounds insane.

that's pennies to Lego

the "advertising" they "paid" for is well worth the small amount of travel cost for 7 people. if bought in package deals, it might be as low as $1000 each person total for the trip (airfare, hotel, food) they already spent 1/2 Billion. that's less than pennies, at that point.

it's the reason Lego sends out free sets to review. that's CHEAP advertising in the modern world, where nobody uses TV like they used to, and you gotta chase after the customers

Lego should be paying those people CASH MONEY at this point, but they do it for free trips and sets, and they make money with up-doots somehow

Yeah? Then explain the prices. What kid is affording these?

This points to a bigger problem with LEGO in general: where are the cheap sets?

Did anyone even look at the Ninjago summer wave? We’ve got like four sets over 1,500 pieces and a bunch more over 500. Those aren’t “kids’ sets.”

So who exactly are these for, and why is everything priced like it’s aimed at AFOLs only?

As I said in the /lsw/ thread, what frustrates me about all of this is that this is actually a genuinely great wave of OT sets. They include some of the very best elements of the Original Trilogy, almost like an ultimate Star Wars wave, and yet it’s all undermined by the high prices and the digital components. If these were normal sets marketed as more “CLASSIC,” in the spirit of the early 2000s sets, I’d be all over them. But the idea of owning a minifigure that I might have to throw away in 10 years because of battery leakage really bothers me. I genuinely think there are some excellent designs here.
>>
>>11667979
Why? I think they look fun and old school, prices seem ok too, the hate is ridiculous and fabricated in my opinion, hating on them because it seems "cool" but kids will make this a hit, they will beg their parents to buy them these sets. I hope every theme will have smart bricks and I'd like if the next original theme is fully made with smart bricks in mind.

according to the preview videos, NONE of the sound effects are "official" Star Wars sounds. the whoosh noises, the laser pew pews, even Artoo is just some "similar-sounding" beep-beeps. but it's not the crispy sounds you wanted to hear.

super FAIL

how did "the boss" not yell at everyone? the customer is expecting to hear "ka-chew!" (you know the blaster sound) "eh, it was not possible, this is the best we could do..."

Bro, they've spent years and half a billion dollars on this. They aren't planning on just making the money back exclusively on the Shartbricks and sets. Like any big corpo, they're spreading that around to all of their products.

What do you think the REAL reason is that they've increased prices across the board on all their sets in the last couple years? They're making all of us pay for their stupid smartbricks whether we want to or not.

Smart Brick is the single greatest psychological stress test LEGO has ever deployed, and the onions display brigade failed it instantly.

The reaction has been historic. Grown men with ring lights, shelf LEDs, and a thousand-yard stare are collapsing in real time because a *children’s toy* remembered it’s allowed to **do things**. “It’s not displayable” Yeah, correct. It’s not meant to sit motionless like your stagnant personality. LEGO didn’t design this for people whose idea of fun is rearranging dust once a fiscal quarter.

These people don’t like LEGO Star Wars. They like **ownership theater**. They like purchasing validation, sealing it behind acrylic, and calling that a hobby. The Smart Brick shows up like a brick-shaped reality check and suddenly the whole ecosystem of manchildren realizes: oh no, this requires movement, imagination, and interaction—the three things they aggressively avoid. The meltdowns are *biblical*. “Muh minifig integrity!” Buddy, your minifigs have never bent a knee, turned a head, or participated in a single narrative. They exist in rigid neutral poses like soulless corporate mascots. The back printing could be the Dead Sea Scrolls and you’d never see it because they’re locked in a plastic sarcophagus forever. And here’s the funniest part: the Smart Brick is **good**. Loud, interactive, scenario-driven, encourages dogfights, missions, feedback—actual PLAY. Not “here’s another $160 gray slab with fake greebling so you can whisper ‘cinematic’ to yourself at night.” LEGO finally said “what if Star Wars felt like action again?” and half the adult fandom immediately went into cardiac arrest.

Yes, the tech isn’t magic yet. Lights and sounds. Congrats, we’ve had that since the Bush administration. But the *direction* is correct, which already puts it lightyears ahead of modern LEGO Star Wars design philosophy, which has been:

1. Upscale the price
2. Remove play
3. Add a plaque
4. Call it mature
>>
>>11668419
The Smart Brick flips the table and says “run missions, react to sounds, move your hands,” and the basedboys recoil like vampires at daylight. Because if a set is designed to be *used*, it exposes who never intended to use it.

And the cherry on top? The sets themselves still hold up. Yeah, the X-wing cockpit is unhinged—but everything else is solid. Side builds that exist for scenarios. Layouts that invite movement. The Echo Base rumor alone mogs half the 18+ lineup. Alarms. In-and-out missions. Stuff *happening*. Star Wars, conceptually.

This is LEGO Star Wars dragging itself out of the adult baby display prison and back into “play system,” which is why the worst people you know are furious. The Smart Brick didn’t ruin LEGO Star Wars—it ruined the illusion that this line was ever meant to be Funko Pops for men who hate fun.

Smart Bricks are based.
Shelf-only collectors are seething.
Toys are toys again.

Nature is healing. Absolute cinema.

What themes do you think should get the Smart Play treatment and would benefit from it?

I think Ghostbusters returning as a Smart Play theme would be dope, with all the ghosts and traps making sounds. Zelda would also work really well as a Smart Play theme, especially for kids. I’d love it if LEGO made an original space theme like Alien Conquest, with UFOs that light up, make sounds, and feature alien languages.

that's the mind-blowing realization about Lego:

it's not about what "I" like
it's not about what "you" like

society as a whole determines what is profitable. that's something that's a lot harder to guess at, or fight against. nobody wants to read a lecture about Lego policies we each like or dislike, and none of that matters. you might as well yell at the cloudy sky. it's going to rain on you no matter how hard you scream.

all we can do is wait for the results to reveal themselves.

Agreed. TLG just needs to make sure the SMART Brick doesn't inflate costs too much. I personally don't care for starwars but I could see this working in City sets like the old light and sound system sets. It's not really a huge innovation or anything but if, for example, you can buy a Lego firetruck that makes noise and has working sirens, I think that kids will enjoy it. Hell, I'd probably get something like that for my boring adult city layout that admittedly just sits of a shelf gathering dust.
Starwars fags gotta realise this is mainly for kids to make lego sets more fun to play with. You already have hyper detailed X Wings or whatever.

But the smart bricks sets are "screen free play", you don't need an app to play with them and the smart play is OPTIONAL, they literally promote it on the box.

>Lego has enough of a base to make StarFox sets
that would require specific molded heads, I'm not saying they couldn't do it, they sure could, but it points out the importance of "The Minifigure"

you could absolutely make all the space ships yourself. it doesn't "need" to be an "official" Lego model. Lego has made like 20 X-Wings, all different. your Starfox Arwing is just as valid as anything Lego would have made.

but you need dat Starfox minifig to fly it. that's the one piece you can't MOC (accurately, anyway...)

When are you guys going to realize that 99% of AFOLs don’t actually like MOCs? They hate the entire concept. All they want to do is buy official sets, follow the instructions, put them on a shelf, and let them collect dust.

That’s exactly why smart bricks piss them off so much. They’re about play, experimentation, and creativity... and that completely shatters their worldview. If LEGO stops being a static display hobby, their whole identity falls apart

It might just be wishful thinking. I always look for ways to get my brothers more interested. One brother is really big into Lego, helped reignite my own interest in fact. But the other one doesn't quite seem as interested. Ages ago I got that brother the Bounty Hunter battle pack because it had his favorite character, Dengar. There is a whole story behind that. But StarFox is one of his all-time favorite game series. I guess I'm more wishing for it to help try and bring him in.
I mean it worked on my nephew. He is big into Mario so for a few years I was the one getting him Mario sets. I was told he was even looking forward to it, telling my brother how he can't wait for Uncle to get him a Mario set. But that tapered off. Maybe in time his need for nostalgia will bring him back.

it's from a straight-to-TV (streaming Disney+ only) 4-episode "series" Lego Star Wars: Re-Build The Galaxy

it's amazingly based for a modern show, despite if you think this character is obviously "checking [diversity] boxes". they mix-up the Star Wars Universe and make a bunch of pointed jabs at the things Disney did to it. they even "explain" how Lego minifigs went from yellow to "fleshie"

>Throughout all this it was difficult to shake off my initial scepticism with the SMART Brick: can’t kids just make their own ‘pew pew’ noises? That’s definitely what I did when I was seven. But who am I to say what kids today want? The SMART Brick has been rigorously tested for years, and the outcome of those tests is clearly that kids do want the toy to make the sounds for them (or else the LEGO Group would not be pursuing this obviously very costly enterprise).

>And, to be fair, I do have very specific memories of loving that one light-and-sound brick that came in the vintage UFO sets, and the illuminated turret in Rock Raiders, and even the light-up lightsabers in the Revenge of the Sith sets. So maybe there’s more obvious mileage in the SMART Play System than my jaded and cynical adult point of view is seeing at first glance.

>Similarly, understanding why the SMART Brick responded in a certain fashion didn’t always feel obvious during the product demonstration – at least when we had freeform hands-on time with the LEGO Star Wars sets. The carefully-controlled narrative of the robber stealing the police car had logical outcomes, but will kids know exactly how to activate those responses, why particular reactions were evoked and how to replicate them? Is the SMART Play System an organic path of discovery or a road to further frustration?

>I put the question to the demo team, and they explained that each SMART Play set will have ‘play prompts’ to help kids get going – but that the LEGO Group also wants them to have the freedom to discover reactions for themselves. In testing, kids apparently quickly understood not only the concept of SMART Bricks, but indeed how to elicit particular responses.
>>
>>11668831
>>For now, I’ll leave you with my closing takeaway from this week’s event: these sets are not at all designed for adults, and the LEGO Group is clearly communicating that not only through the age rating on the boxes – Lena told us that the key target demographic for SMART Play is six-to-eight-year-olds – but the design of these sets, too.

>The X-wing is perhaps the best example. The four-stud-wide SMART Brick could easily have fit into the more accurate designs of recent sets, which can already accommodate R2-D2 (who is also four studs wide), but here it’s a chibified and cuter model built specifically for play. If you want an authentic LEGO X-wing to pop on a shelf, head elsewhere.

>These sets are for an audience increasingly overlooked by a LEGO Star Wars theme that’s otherwise skewed further and further towards adult display sets in recent years, and that is – of course – kids. More specifically, kids whose parents have the money to splash on more expensive versions of sets we’ve seen countless times before, but now with sounds and lights.

>Hey, it’s the Next Big Thing…

they need to re-use the Wednesday hairpiece in dark red for her invisible girl sidekick who copied her style

is there a new season coming out in the summer? it's Netflix, so it should be like what, 3 more years until we get more episodes. that's how Netflix works, right?

Wednesday season 2 was so much not-a-story. it was 100% setting up pieces for what was to come next. they left it with at least 4 cliffhangers, like they plan-planned for more

it's Stranger Things all over again. those "kids" will be full-grown adults. only the 2nd season and it had the little brother barely recognizable, and the bee kid was a full man, already, as well.

Adding these to the existing list, that gives us:

75641: 271 pcs, $30
75642: 547 pcs, $60
75643: Tony Tony Chopper - 576 pcs, $70
75644: Giants of Elbaf - 733 pcs, $70 (Lower price?)
75645: 1063 pcs, $100
75646: Garp’s ship - 1705 pcs, $170
75645 is likely Drum Island Castle.

That leaves 75641 and 75642, I'd guess one is based on Reverse Mountain. Loguetown would make the most sense for the other, but they could roll the figures from that into Garp's Ship so perhaps it's Whisky Peak.

I also did not buy any One Piece sets, and I freaking loved the show.

the sets were cleverly too expensive (or manipulatively-designed?) for me to care about any of them, enough to spend my valuable money. each set was just-not-enough. almost worth buying. but they did things like... Luffy WEARING the hat=$140 minimum. you GET the hat in the cheaper sets, but he's not WEARING it. boooooo!

they did that on purpose, like damn Lego put Mihawk in a $330 REBBOFANK* set and my cheap ass can't afford that.

It is insane, but you have to update the Lego Mario/Luigi/Peach with Bluetooth when a new set comes out. The scan code is just like a little key so the electronics know exactly what sounds/music to make. The Lego figures might not have Bluetooth inside but they probably have an NFC antenna/chip that holds the data like Nintendo Amiibo. So the smart brick has NFC wireless communication when it's near the radius of the brick.

This might be a delusional theory on my behalf but I'm thinking they intentionally used generic sounds to avoid tripping content copyright violations on YouTube.
Lego relies heavily on "influencers" to do free marketing for them and demonetizing their video coverage would severely hamper the vitality those demonstrations.
It's still possible for them to change the sound font before release. At least that's what I want to believe.

I never used PAB but I particularly don't like the prices or the random wait times.

>All they want to do is buy official sets, follow the instructions, put them on a shelf, and let them collect dust.
Can you blame them when the majority of sets all come with bricks that are absolutely useless for mocs? I just want to make houses and streets but every fucking set is car parts or technic shit for motors.

Why Dengar? What's the story? For me its Bossk and why I bought that set.

>Garp ship for $170 in One Piece
I hope it's actually a proper ship and not half of one like the stupid Baratie set.

That sounds too good to be true for lego Star Wars.

People keep talking about Star Wars, Space, Castle, and Pirates. The sad truth is that all of these themes have peaked already. And once that happens, corporate greed steps in. Suddenly what made them great isn't good enough. They need to ramp things up and get as much money as quickly as possible. They strip the soul and leave us with an echo of what we loved. And unfortunately that soul cannot be returned. All these themes best days are behind them, they will never peak again.
