Between Dramatic Capture Series, Masterpiece Movie Series NEXT, Overgear, and New Legends, are you glad that Takara is picking up the slack and fixing Hasbro's slop?Previous:>>11723788
>>11729950I wonder if the new SS Optimus will surpass this
>>11729954eh.. it's an okay jetfire but what the fuck is that hand..this actually might be the best 1p jetfire and that is sad.
I might have gone for this if I didn't already own SS JetfireSame with that amazon multipack
>>11729960is it so much to ask to have a version that takes all the extra engineering for the retarded, non-movie-accurate combined mode and uses that to hide the jetbottom kibble instead?
>>11729970lmao
>>11729970>>11729977lol
>>11729977I'm not asking for it to be perfect, just... can we hide his sideburns better?also, has anyone ever consciously noticed... because the real vehicle has like one-third the mass of the robot mode in the toy, does the toy then visibly have out-of-scale vehicle kibble?
>>11729954>hand is just a big wide open monkey paw
>>11729981>Talk to the hand, sonny!
>>11729956>>11729981It's literally just a nicer repaint of the already existing SS Jetfire. The hands have always been like that. You'll just have to hope that they remake Jetfire once they remake Optimus first.
>>11729990oh so we ARE getting redos of SS.
>>11729994Have you not noticed that we're getting a Titan Class Grimlock as a redo of the old Leader Class Grimlock from 8 years ago? Yeah HasTak are now going to start redoing a bunch of older SS toys. The leaks say we're getting a Leader Class redo of the first movie Optimus Prime.
>>11729996but that's a completely different mold, what are you talking about
>>11730011What is your definition of a redo?
>>11730000Overgear OP?
>>11730000We're so back
>>11730000>>11730000I don't see why OP has a human looking gun when he's clearly not human and a SciFi gun would look better in both modes. Also a small gun conversion would be great.Or options to add a smaller gun Transformer.
>>11729956>1pthird party retards really do keep pushing this faggotry party shit
>>11730021I'm going to start saying 1p from now on just because you're getting this mad over it

Kranix review. https://youtu.be/jQ7wcN95d-4?is=NL667tWsDDnSo2FSIt's going to be fun to have this guy together with the Quintesson judge.
>>11730000>similar transformation as IronhideI hope Megatron isn't just a tweaked Blackout.
Got Scourge with basically all of the other SS86 Target stuff. Doesn't hold any surprises for me, since I already own three of the Sweeps, but it's nice to have the master of the hunt regardless.
Titans Return had an amazingly stacked roster of deluxes. So many wonderfully fun toys, and if you ponied up for the Legends figures they had great decos too.
Arise, Scourge Prime
>>11729979I got this guy for $10 without his cane from a thrift shop years ago. I think I combined him with Optimus one time and never tried again, the Legends RotF guys are way more satisfying and quick to combine.
>>11730036Barring some shitty IDWness in the designs here and there, there were excellent toys all around. The Titanmaster integration between the different size classes, working cockpits, and separate purchasable heads that came little dudes that double as weapons or combined creatures made for such a cool line, man.
>>11730036>tfw all these have more mass than modern leaders

Compare current Quickstrike and Venin to even Tarantulas from Legacy who felt like picking up air. So TLDR, while the price has gone up, at least they’re slightly denser at the moment
>>11730056Deluxe probably has the greatest variance in mass Look at new Animated Bee vs the new RatchetRatchet is more than twice the amount of plastic
>>11730062Ratchet is a deluxe who comes with 6 accessories, it's crazy how much he's packed with.
>>11729945Is he worth $80 CAD
>>11730076No youre insane
>>11730076I'm waiting for the Big Blue convoy variant.
Got Amalgamous some days ago and there's something that baffles me about it. I was expecting to have way more freedom when rearranging his parts, but there's a design choice that limits creativity a lot, and it's something so stupid and easily avoidable that I don't understand why they din't think about it. The thing has a lot of 5mm holes, and that's great... but what's the point when most of his components don't have pegs? Most of them are in the body part, but every single piece should have at least one peg, that would make the number of configurations rise exponentially. It feels way too restricted for something whose selling point should be "build whatever you want with it".Nonetheless he passed the dinosaur test, so I guess he's alright.
>>11730092They won't do Blue, they'll do Nemesis Prime again.
>>11730076no just wait for the inevitable improved takara retool

The articulation is not great but I've had more fun with Cyberworld Galvatron than most figures geared toward COLLECTORS. So Hasbro's never going to re-release the Bat Optimus vs Gator Megatron pack again, and they'll never repaint the Bat Optimus into Nyx?
>>11730152Jetfire is a repaint not a redo. Titan Grimlock is a redo since they're redoing both the character and the old toy with a new more bigger and more accurate toy.
>>11730011This isn't difficult. A "redo" is when Hasbro decides to take another swing at making a toy of a character. Sometimes this can be a retooled version of a previous mold (such as the Siege toys for Springer and Shockwave getting extensively remolded for SS86), but more often it's just a whole new attempt at a toy. For example, SS86 Thundercracker is a redo of a character who most recently had gotten a toy in Earthrise. It's a different mold with a different aesthetic, but it's still Hasbro making a new attempt at a mainline toy based on the same guy. So a redo could be an old mold retooled, or an entirely new mold. The main thing is that it's Hasbro releasing a new toy of the same character.
>>11730132I enjoyed this release and it's nicer colors, The added back covers were just a bonus. In fact looking back upon the Titan's Return I find him to be quite shallow and pedantic

>>11730634Errrr I bought RB High Tide so they would make a Titan Class of it 20 years later ok. Playing the long game.
>>11730476The original you already has ankle tilts. What it needs is more ratchet stops at the hips.
>>11730348Derrick J Wyatt being dead at 50 sucks ass.
>>11730666True, but on the other hand he doesn't have to see his characters getting terrible "updates".
>>11730668Yeah but it would have been fun to see him complain about it
Hmm... Got ideas on how we'll ever get static, non-separating versions of the Armada Skyboom Shield and Requiem Blaster someday? Because if you ask just about anyone, wanting to find the combining versions amount to either "buy the third-party versions" or "look for the originals."
>>11730671They retconned the Fallen's cannon to be the Requiem Blaster. Makes him sound like a theatre kid.
>>11730672>Prima has Star Saber>Megatronus has Requium BlasterWhere'd the Skyboom Shield go
>>11730347New one looks better, it has more sculpted detail and that makes a better toy. Left looks cheap because it has no detail. Like a real uncanny valley or something.
>>117306713D Print.Surprised to see that someone actually wants a plastic solid shield though, I never used mine from the 3P Fanshobby set.
>>11730703Another Prima Artifact. But if we give each of the individual components of Nexus Prime a piece of the Cyber Caliber, one of the components has to be the Skyboom Shield. The other components would be the Chaos Edge, Omni Saber, Terminus Blade, and probably the Proton Spear (if the rest of Onyx Prime's spear in his toy isn't already said Artifact).
>>11730705It's kind of the logic on Wyatt's designs on pretty much any of his works. They feel flat, and it's actually a good thing that makes for some good toys (not everything has to be perfect, though).
>>11730705>New one looks better, it has more sculpted detailThe aesthetics of these new animated figures don't make sense because they're just sticking the animated character's head and smooth, flat front section onto a blocky G1 base with more sculpted detail and it all clashes too much. There's no consistent aesthetic with any of these animated figures because they have no idea what they want to be and it suffers for it.Old one looks way better due to the unified aesthetic
>>11730722>>11730725Tooners
>>11730722Wyatt was clearly an Orbots fan.
>>117307272010 Lugnut and Lockdown were fine. Back then they took those designs and reimagined them so they would have a consistent design aesthetic. These new animated figures have the same issue as the prime figures where they feel like halfhearted attempts to try and fit the animated aesthetic with the current blocky generations slop but because that's all they know how to do they can't actually create a real aesthetic out of it.
>>11730348outside Wreckgar (and maybe Bee's fiddly transformation) I think the animated figures turned out pretty well. much better than half the Prime cast
>>11730725True, that's the case on the 4 pack Autotropper, give it the Animated head & it's off, the KP head works wonder on his cubic body
>>11730730They could have heads that matched but everyone shat their diapers over the good looking Prime updates and so Hasbro jurt pastes the unfitting head on and the barking seals that the fans are clap and go "it looks like thing I know it's so much better now!!"
>>11730767Except the prime updates were also bad as well
>>11730348>optimus and ratchet have painted windows>prowl and bee have transclearant i wish they'd pick a window aesthetic and stick with it. preferably painted but it's annoying when the figures in the same line are inconsistant
>>11730771Nope.
>>11730771>>11730779Well clearly only one of you two's opinion can be right.
>>11730595>but Optimus never reverts to Orion Pax?Because in the cartoon he wasn't a Matrix upgrade like Rodimus, he was rebuilt by Alpha Trion.
>>11730811You're asking about the cartoon, faggot.
I'm always willing to shit on Hasbro's retarded decisions but I've never gotten the extreme dickriding Takara gets, even when they're to blame for designing the figures. (after all, I've read people trying to reduce Hasbro's participation to just an ideas guy). Sure, I guess I can buy some design issues being up to budget cuts pushed by the american side, but other baffling design decisions are entirely the fault of the Takara designers.
>>11730830>but other baffling design decisions are entirely the fault of the Takara designersSuch as?
What is the most successful way to recreate the G1 waist "underwear" in your opinion?>Upper thighs have waist detail that rotate with the leg (SS86 Megatron, SS86 Hot Rod, Legacy Gears, SS86 Dinobots, etc.)>Waist is one/two loin flap(s) that conceal round upper thighs connected directly to T-shaped waist (SS86 Optimus, SS86 Ironhide/Ratchet, SS86 Soundwave, Earthrise Seekers, etc.)>Waist has no flaps, thighs visibly connect to T-shaped waist (SS86 Jazz, Netflix Bumblebee, SS86 Ultra Magnus, SS86 Kup, etc.)
>>11730767>>11730779the prime updates really were bad, though. cliffjumper is the only one that feels successful enough but the others only barely resemble the characters they represent to the point that they feel like phoned-in recolors of different characters rather than the ones they're supposed to be
>>11730842The thing mp44/light of peace does where it's separate flaps connected to the leg rotation that sink into the groin when bent
>>11730861Ohh that's choice. Really the best solution for those physics-breaking G1/Gundam/Brave waists where the thighs bend but the underwear doesn't. Either that or have the thigh joint slide down somehow.
>>11730861So the old Busou Shinki/modern girlpla thing where the thighs are attached to an armature inside the body that swings down and dislocates, rather than connecting to the hip, which is free-floating? I guess that's one way to do it.

Thinking about it critically, Magmatron might be a better attempt at Nexus Prime's main theme than the official Nexus Prime himself. If we got a Jet/Helicopter, Speed boat/submarine, and tank/truck/train for Nexus in the same vein as Magmatron, I think we all would have been more pleased.

Blast Off (CW-inspired repaint of AOTP Slingshot) vs. Alpha Bravo (CW-inspired repaint of AOTP Vortex) 2-pack when?
>>11731421Nobody cares about your weirdly specific hang up over Megatron and literally no other character.
>>11731422Hopefully never
>>11731423>if you realize Megatron should be silver and looks better that way then YOU'RE ONE SPECIFIC ANON I DON'T LIKEReal schizo hours here on /toy/ I see.
>>11731379I think we need to go back to Magnus being the default repaint
>>11731434They don't do that many OP repaints these days to begin with.
>>11731378I like him alotI will admit I am a optimus prime slut and I had a big fondness for the G1 toy but legacy G1 prime is fun. Nice update to the classic transformation, solid possibility, great light piping for the eyes, 2 guns! He is a fantastic desk fiddle former. Only real complaints is he really needs some paint or toyhax stickers to make the details pop, the pegs on his guns can be odd as they and his hands are painted and some may prefer him to be in a bigger size class.
>>11731329Jokes on them. Now I always wait for the second or sometimes 3rd release and get either whatever comes with the best accessories or what goes on clearance and to ROSS.
>>11729945God, the G1 decepticons are so fucking boring.
>>11731465At least they're not the BW predicons
>>11731455>Deluxe G1 primeWatch outHis wheels melt plastic (not the one made up his wheels though)
>>11731358>It wasn't the wrong colors thoughYes it was.
