Between Dramatic Capture Series, Masterpiece Movie Series NEXT, Overgear, and New Legends, are you glad that Takara is picking up the slack and fixing Hasbro's slop?Previous:>>11723788
>>11729950I wonder if the new SS Optimus will surpass this
>>11729954eh.. it's an okay jetfire but what the fuck is that hand..this actually might be the best 1p jetfire and that is sad.
I might have gone for this if I didn't already own SS JetfireSame with that amazon multipack
>>11729960is it so much to ask to have a version that takes all the extra engineering for the retarded, non-movie-accurate combined mode and uses that to hide the jetbottom kibble instead?
>>11729970lmao
>>11729970>>11729977lol
>>11729977I'm not asking for it to be perfect, just... can we hide his sideburns better?also, has anyone ever consciously noticed... because the real vehicle has like one-third the mass of the robot mode in the toy, does the toy then visibly have out-of-scale vehicle kibble?
>>11729954>hand is just a big wide open monkey paw
>>11729981>Talk to the hand, sonny!
>>11729956>>11729981It's literally just a nicer repaint of the already existing SS Jetfire. The hands have always been like that. You'll just have to hope that they remake Jetfire once they remake Optimus first.
>>11729990oh so we ARE getting redos of SS.
>>11729994Have you not noticed that we're getting a Titan Class Grimlock as a redo of the old Leader Class Grimlock from 8 years ago? Yeah HasTak are now going to start redoing a bunch of older SS toys. The leaks say we're getting a Leader Class redo of the first movie Optimus Prime.
>>11729996but that's a completely different mold, what are you talking about
>>11730011What is your definition of a redo?
>>11730000Overgear OP?
>>11730000We're so back
>>11730000>>11730000I don't see why OP has a human looking gun when he's clearly not human and a SciFi gun would look better in both modes. Also a small gun conversion would be great.Or options to add a smaller gun Transformer.
>>11729956>1pthird party retards really do keep pushing this faggotry party shit
>>11730021I'm going to start saying 1p from now on just because you're getting this mad over it

Kranix review. https://youtu.be/jQ7wcN95d-4?is=NL667tWsDDnSo2FSIt's going to be fun to have this guy together with the Quintesson judge.
>>11730000>similar transformation as IronhideI hope Megatron isn't just a tweaked Blackout.
Got Scourge with basically all of the other SS86 Target stuff. Doesn't hold any surprises for me, since I already own three of the Sweeps, but it's nice to have the master of the hunt regardless.
Titans Return had an amazingly stacked roster of deluxes. So many wonderfully fun toys, and if you ponied up for the Legends figures they had great decos too.
Arise, Scourge Prime
>>11729979I got this guy for $10 without his cane from a thrift shop years ago. I think I combined him with Optimus one time and never tried again, the Legends RotF guys are way more satisfying and quick to combine.
>>11730036Barring some shitty IDWness in the designs here and there, there were excellent toys all around. The Titanmaster integration between the different size classes, working cockpits, and separate purchasable heads that came little dudes that double as weapons or combined creatures made for such a cool line, man.
>>11730036>tfw all these have more mass than modern leaders

Compare current Quickstrike and Venin to even Tarantulas from Legacy who felt like picking up air. So TLDR, while the price has gone up, at least they’re slightly denser at the moment
>>11730056Deluxe probably has the greatest variance in mass Look at new Animated Bee vs the new RatchetRatchet is more than twice the amount of plastic
>>11730062Ratchet is a deluxe who comes with 6 accessories, it's crazy how much he's packed with.
>>11729945Is he worth $80 CAD
>>11730076No youre insane
>>11730076I'm waiting for the Big Blue convoy variant.
Got Amalgamous some days ago and there's something that baffles me about it. I was expecting to have way more freedom when rearranging his parts, but there's a design choice that limits creativity a lot, and it's something so stupid and easily avoidable that I don't understand why they din't think about it. The thing has a lot of 5mm holes, and that's great... but what's the point when most of his components don't have pegs? Most of them are in the body part, but every single piece should have at least one peg, that would make the number of configurations rise exponentially. It feels way too restricted for something whose selling point should be "build whatever you want with it".Nonetheless he passed the dinosaur test, so I guess he's alright.
>>11730092They won't do Blue, they'll do Nemesis Prime again.
>>11730076no just wait for the inevitable improved takara retool

The articulation is not great but I've had more fun with Cyberworld Galvatron than most figures geared toward COLLECTORS. So Hasbro's never going to re-release the Bat Optimus vs Gator Megatron pack again, and they'll never repaint the Bat Optimus into Nyx?
>>11730152Jetfire is a repaint not a redo. Titan Grimlock is a redo since they're redoing both the character and the old toy with a new more bigger and more accurate toy.
>>11730011This isn't difficult. A "redo" is when Hasbro decides to take another swing at making a toy of a character. Sometimes this can be a retooled version of a previous mold (such as the Siege toys for Springer and Shockwave getting extensively remolded for SS86), but more often it's just a whole new attempt at a toy. For example, SS86 Thundercracker is a redo of a character who most recently had gotten a toy in Earthrise. It's a different mold with a different aesthetic, but it's still Hasbro making a new attempt at a mainline toy based on the same guy. So a redo could be an old mold retooled, or an entirely new mold. The main thing is that it's Hasbro releasing a new toy of the same character.
>>11730132I enjoyed this release and it's nicer colors, The added back covers were just a bonus. In fact looking back upon the Titan's Return I find him to be quite shallow and pedantic

>>11730634Errrr I bought RB High Tide so they would make a Titan Class of it 20 years later ok. Playing the long game.
>>11730476The original you already has ankle tilts. What it needs is more ratchet stops at the hips.
>>11730348Derrick J Wyatt being dead at 50 sucks ass.
>>11730666True, but on the other hand he doesn't have to see his characters getting terrible "updates".
>>11730668Yeah but it would have been fun to see him complain about it
Hmm... Got ideas on how we'll ever get static, non-separating versions of the Armada Skyboom Shield and Requiem Blaster someday? Because if you ask just about anyone, wanting to find the combining versions amount to either "buy the third-party versions" or "look for the originals."
>>11730671They retconned the Fallen's cannon to be the Requiem Blaster. Makes him sound like a theatre kid.
>>11730672>Prima has Star Saber>Megatronus has Requium BlasterWhere'd the Skyboom Shield go
>>11730347New one looks better, it has more sculpted detail and that makes a better toy. Left looks cheap because it has no detail. Like a real uncanny valley or something.
>>117306713D Print.Surprised to see that someone actually wants a plastic solid shield though, I never used mine from the 3P Fanshobby set.
>>11730703Another Prima Artifact. But if we give each of the individual components of Nexus Prime a piece of the Cyber Caliber, one of the components has to be the Skyboom Shield. The other components would be the Chaos Edge, Omni Saber, Terminus Blade, and probably the Proton Spear (if the rest of Onyx Prime's spear in his toy isn't already said Artifact).
>>11730705It's kind of the logic on Wyatt's designs on pretty much any of his works. They feel flat, and it's actually a good thing that makes for some good toys (not everything has to be perfect, though).
>>11730705>New one looks better, it has more sculpted detailThe aesthetics of these new animated figures don't make sense because they're just sticking the animated character's head and smooth, flat front section onto a blocky G1 base with more sculpted detail and it all clashes too much. There's no consistent aesthetic with any of these animated figures because they have no idea what they want to be and it suffers for it.Old one looks way better due to the unified aesthetic
>>11730722>>11730725Tooners
>>11730722Wyatt was clearly an Orbots fan.
>>117307272010 Lugnut and Lockdown were fine. Back then they took those designs and reimagined them so they would have a consistent design aesthetic. These new animated figures have the same issue as the prime figures where they feel like halfhearted attempts to try and fit the animated aesthetic with the current blocky generations slop but because that's all they know how to do they can't actually create a real aesthetic out of it.
>>11730348outside Wreckgar (and maybe Bee's fiddly transformation) I think the animated figures turned out pretty well. much better than half the Prime cast
>>11730725True, that's the case on the 4 pack Autotropper, give it the Animated head & it's off, the KP head works wonder on his cubic body
>>11730730They could have heads that matched but everyone shat their diapers over the good looking Prime updates and so Hasbro jurt pastes the unfitting head on and the barking seals that the fans are clap and go "it looks like thing I know it's so much better now!!"
>>11730767Except the prime updates were also bad as well
>>11730348>optimus and ratchet have painted windows>prowl and bee have transclearant i wish they'd pick a window aesthetic and stick with it. preferably painted but it's annoying when the figures in the same line are inconsistant
>>11730771Nope.
>>11730771>>11730779Well clearly only one of you two's opinion can be right.
>>11730595>but Optimus never reverts to Orion Pax?Because in the cartoon he wasn't a Matrix upgrade like Rodimus, he was rebuilt by Alpha Trion.
>>11730811You're asking about the cartoon, faggot.
I'm always willing to shit on Hasbro's retarded decisions but I've never gotten the extreme dickriding Takara gets, even when they're to blame for designing the figures. (after all, I've read people trying to reduce Hasbro's participation to just an ideas guy). Sure, I guess I can buy some design issues being up to budget cuts pushed by the american side, but other baffling design decisions are entirely the fault of the Takara designers.
>>11730830>but other baffling design decisions are entirely the fault of the Takara designersSuch as?
What is the most successful way to recreate the G1 waist "underwear" in your opinion?>Upper thighs have waist detail that rotate with the leg (SS86 Megatron, SS86 Hot Rod, Legacy Gears, SS86 Dinobots, etc.)>Waist is one/two loin flap(s) that conceal round upper thighs connected directly to T-shaped waist (SS86 Optimus, SS86 Ironhide/Ratchet, SS86 Soundwave, Earthrise Seekers, etc.)>Waist has no flaps, thighs visibly connect to T-shaped waist (SS86 Jazz, Netflix Bumblebee, SS86 Ultra Magnus, SS86 Kup, etc.)
>>11730767>>11730779the prime updates really were bad, though. cliffjumper is the only one that feels successful enough but the others only barely resemble the characters they represent to the point that they feel like phoned-in recolors of different characters rather than the ones they're supposed to be
>>11730842The thing mp44/light of peace does where it's separate flaps connected to the leg rotation that sink into the groin when bent
>>11730861Ohh that's choice. Really the best solution for those physics-breaking G1/Gundam/Brave waists where the thighs bend but the underwear doesn't. Either that or have the thigh joint slide down somehow.
>>11730861So the old Busou Shinki/modern girlpla thing where the thighs are attached to an armature inside the body that swings down and dislocates, rather than connecting to the hip, which is free-floating? I guess that's one way to do it.

Thinking about it critically, Magmatron might be a better attempt at Nexus Prime's main theme than the official Nexus Prime himself. If we got a Jet/Helicopter, Speed boat/submarine, and tank/truck/train for Nexus in the same vein as Magmatron, I think we all would have been more pleased.

>>11731379I think we need to go back to Magnus being the default repaint
>>11731434They don't do that many OP repaints these days to begin with.
>>11731378I like him alotI will admit I am a optimus prime slut and I had a big fondness for the G1 toy but legacy G1 prime is fun. Nice update to the classic transformation, solid possibility, great light piping for the eyes, 2 guns! He is a fantastic desk fiddle former. Only real complaints is he really needs some paint or toyhax stickers to make the details pop, the pegs on his guns can be odd as they and his hands are painted and some may prefer him to be in a bigger size class.
>>11731329Jokes on them. Now I always wait for the second or sometimes 3rd release and get either whatever comes with the best accessories or what goes on clearance and to ROSS.
>>11729945God, the G1 decepticons are so fucking boring.
>>11731465At least they're not the BW predicons
>>11731455>Deluxe G1 primeWatch outHis wheels melt plastic (not the one made up his wheels though)
>>11731358>It wasn't the wrong colors thoughYes it was.
>>11731491Does the plastic it melts at least solidify once it's not in contact or do I have to worry about finding traces of destabilized plastic slime forever now
>>11731378The second, with the upgrade stacks and stickers
>>11729948I like how the bottom of OP’s feet are painted black so it ends up being more Jetfire armor when combined
>>11731491Damn that's a shame, I assume the wheels leak plasticizers or something? Does this effect other parts on legacy prime or does the melting mean the tires damage other plastics/toys they rub up against?I have had mine out on a shelf or on my desk since I got him and if I do store hin he will go into a baggie by himself like the rest of my stuff. Wonder if I should start putting a pin hole in baggies to let them off gas.

>>11731305>And with Target basically ending exclusivesWhat are we basing this on exactly?
>>11731381He really is excellent and I should grab the Legacy Optimus too at some point. G1 toy Optimus has such an iconic look, but I can't bring myself to spend money on the missing link and, as you said, the beauty of the cheaper toys is that you actually aren't afraid to play with them. And if we aren't playing with our toys, then what the fuck are any of us even doing here?>>11731434Seriously and where the hell is my white SS86 already?
>>11731305So are they just making exclusives no longer a thing in target or were going to see the transformers sections on target get smaller?
>>11731524The tires don't affect the rim/sliver wheels, only the blue plastic that composed the legs. >>11731509I think it will slowly get back to normal but the surface affected will not be unmarred. Not a big deal because most of the contact points are rather hidden. I have my deluxe G1 prime taped with paper masking tape around the contact points. It should work as the tire melting issue only came into being with direct contact going from past experiences. >>11731530The answer is yes. ...Even the Missing link primes do this. Not a big problem because the g1 design the tires don't get in contact with anything BUT...having both the cartoon and toy version, I forgot which one, when in cab mode, the under carriage of the arms will touch the tire if you don't line up thing 100%Hell even the earlier reissue G1 hound, when I open it, the tire have already ate through the paint/plastic on the outer side the arm because that side would be facing next to the rubber wheels.

>>11731727I dont see how anyone is excited for these. Were at the stage now were people are fucking stupid enough to pay Hasbro 300-400 for a combiner that would of been 100 if sold in stores. Then we get the lies of 'stores wouldn't stock it so you had to pay the haslab tax' yet is actually Hasbro just didnt want to sell it in stores because just like their 'selects' line this is designed to fleece people. These look awful to boot. They look like 30 dollar kos. Hasbro TFs already suffer from hollowed out legs/arms and waists but these just look like simplified kos.The leg bots have wide shins that dont fold inwards, liozack is too small, the arm jets look like reused combiner wars aerial bots.

>>11731786Maybe it’s just me and my dumb financial illiterate hind-brain, but I feel like people always judge the prices of figures without accounting for the diminishing purchasing power of the dollar as inflation increases over time. (And to be clear, economically speaking, that’s normal and it’s supposed to be doing that.)Like yeah, I remember when Voyagers were $20, but 20 bucks could get you a lot more in general back then. (And hopefully you’re income is also at least keeping pace with inflation, so $20 is also easier to come by.)
>>11732019I should have use this chart for pic related instead, since it’s based on the purchasing power of $100 when Transformers was first started as a brand.
>>11731734Sorry. Got busy the last 3 days
>>11731931How did you save 600 on a thing that costs 300?
>>117317861) I don't really get it either, but I don't care about them as characters2) if released at mass retail, they'd be smaller and sold as 7 deluxes. That's about $200Another very real possibility is, like the constructicons, they'd be sold with the torso being a commander class 2 pack, which would be 90 bucks instead of 56. So around $230Which is waaaaay closer to what they're actually paying for.3) mass retail doesn't just have to sell, it has to sell BETTER than other options. And something that takes up a commander slot and 5 deluxes means putting an actual main combiner, one that showed up in America, their primary market, on hold, or waiting until 2029 to release figures as a combiner, one that'll 100% sell worse than any other combinerAnd that's IF they don't do abominus, or predaking, or piranaconSo yeah, people are willing to spend more because the odds that they'll get another shot at it is extremely low.The mere fact that they were willing to do deathsaurus and liokaizer at all after the disaster that was combiner wars version shows hasbro at least feels there's SOME demand, even if this was the best way to get it to market.
>>11731673>>11731674>>11731727Best modern combiner so far>Nice proportions for both combined and individual modes>Posable >Don't require extra parts to combine (except for the waist)

>>11732022>>11732019>be in canada>deluxes are $35 voyagers are $50 and leaders are $80>theres 14% tax on top of this
>>11732119Hearing the Hasbro CEO say that the new prices are unrelated to tariffs and that they won't lower them even if tariffs are removed and/or they get their tariffs refund was wild. Let's see how long the size classes survive. I've pretty much passed on everything this year or gotten stuff at huge discounts. After I complete the 86 seekers and Bruticus, I'll almost cut my transformers spending to nothing. The only things that could pull me back are the Powermasters, Sky Garry and Grandus. I doubt we'll get them anytime soon.

Me Grimlock too expensive. You pay big bucks for me and 2 accessories.
>>11732345Now should I take a bullet and preorder him or gamble and wait for discount. Nemesis vanished from preorders while others rotted.
>>11732346Depends on if you're rich. If rich, go ahead and buy the figure. If not I'd just put it towards retirement and put the money towards a nice grill and some high quality steaks and enjoy the outdoors. There's beautiful smells that come off the grill, the cooked meat is delicious. Much more satisfying hobby.

>>11732121covid fuckin broke them, they're having to spend a lot more now to make sure they have a dynamic supply chain and that's the main reason for the price increases. They probably just put off the price increases during the inflation surge to sustain sales, then started increasing the moment they saw inflation slowing downA cutthroat, but fairly tried and true business method

Plus he has 5mm ports on the shoulders and legs and feet so you can do weaponizer stuff with the original design (if you care) Legacy OP, also, in my personal opinion; updates the classic design in a way that works well. The forearms are shortened and made chunkier instead of having the skinny issue in the center. And instead of having the cool but kinda clunky truck-back fins on the shoulders with a completely hollow back, the back fins have been turned into an actual head-hiding backpack which fills out the back as well. He's a very nice figure for the cost. Having all six of the "main" ER Seekers I gotta be honest, they do look good together. They're not perfect and I am interested to see how SS86 Thundercracker compares when he gets in but I do like them. If the SS86 mould completely blows me away I MIGHT swap out the main three but the coneheads are staying for sure. Also whilst I wish she had more retooling, Slipstream doesn't deserve the hate she gets. >>11733739I just hope I don't regret not getting them whenever Energon/Superlink Optimus gets updated. I can see Hasbro making Optimus the ultimate weaponizer by making his drones weaponizers and attached by sliding into the slot and closing it with a 5mm peg similarly to Toyrise GaoGaiGar so slapping -izers on Optimus would be relatively easy and perhaps more stable.
>all this elita glazing as of recentlywhy they're so adamant in putting her in everywhere?
>>11733771It's really weird. Arcee is way more well known and, as far as how she's depicted in The Movie, a pretty strong female character by the standards of the time.

>>11733775>Arcee is way more well knownYeah, but IDW pretty much destroyed her reputation. She'll forever be associated with being a tranny, even in works where that's not the case.
>>11733771It's because she's Optimus's love interest in most continuities. They're trying to expand the core foundational cast by including fembots so what better way than the one who has a significantly close relationship with Optimus so they can milk their drama for the years to come.

>>11733771Don't worry it will end after Skybound made everyone hate her.
>>11733775>pretty strong female character by the standards of the timeNah, even in '86 there were one off female characters that had more to them then Arcee had in both the movie and season 3-4. Arcee's issue was that she could never settle in any particular character type so there wasn't a clear cut version of the character that future iterations can build upon or change.
>>11733962Cartoon Arcee had a character type. It's just that she was a nice person and not an angry bitch so a lot of progressives moaned about until modern comics turned her into a psycho tranny

>>11733808I’m like 50% sure it was mostly just deliberate bait. That’s more than can be said for 90% of the trolling on here these days.
>>11734067Maybe the possibly indefinite increase in oil prices from the Iran war (shipping costs)? And/or the 15% universal flat tariff for Burgerland? Genuinely not sure how much or little of an effect either of those has when operating at Hasbro’s scale.

>>11734365I'm going to say something controversial here... I don't dislike Legacy Bulkhead.I've always looked at it as what if G1 Bulkhead instead of a redone Prime Bulkhead. Same with Legacy Knock Out.
>>11734433>I've always looked at it as what if G1 BulkheadWhat other way was there ever to look at it? Primefags will cry about how it says "Prime" on the box which apparently magically makes it so, but they place greater emphasis on a fucking box then on what their own eyes are telling them. They also forget that that was a marketing decision and not the designer's. I agree, he's a nice figure.Knockout is ok, but he literally appeared in a G1 comic in that body so again, there was precedent.

>>11734479you seem mad enough that you keep responding.
>>11734484I imagine Hasbro doesn't put that much stock to what universe the characters belong as long as people buy the figures. If anything, they might be encouraged to deliberately blur the lines so as not to put off any potential buyers
>>11734488This happened with SS boxes.
>>11734433Desu it is a fine toy and in hinsight it is one of the better legacy voyagers, its problem is that every single retool fucking sucked with heatwave being the culmination of how dogshit hasbro is

>>11734484And fucking straxus was supposed to be the main villain of season 1/legacy (untitled). Straxus' design in idw2(019) is straight up his scrapped legacy design, and there was even box art drawn for it.But then they canned the series and since there was no series to explain why straxus looked VASTLY different; well, they quickly threw together the new transmetal 2 Megatron to fill his slot, since updating an older design = easy
>>11734484Let's consider using punctuation next time
>>11734674Thank fuck for that. I don't even want to imagine a world in which that show went ahead and we didn't get Comic Edition Straxus as a result.

>>11734759I've gotten lucky with my Bulkhead not yellowing *touch wood* but at least with Bulkhead there was the option to get the WnR version, where all the parts that could yellow were cast in black.
>>11734719yeah. The legacy straxus design is just kinda trash for straxus. Would be a neat new character/repurposing though, especially if he came with the cape.>>11734728Yeah, probably.. although a part of me wishes that we did get it. I like seeing the toy designs animated. + there was a chance straxus could get the prime wars overlord treatment and get a funny and decent voice acting job done.
takara should release a version of legacy metalhawk in the new legends line that has a die-cast shiny gold colored torso. It would be cool.
>>11734719Such an awesome dude, even if I never read the comics he was from. I was surprised to find that his alt mode is actually accurate to the source material, too - I always assumed he was supposed to be a tank because that's the alt mode every other figure of him had.
>>11732562>But it looks like his T-Rex Mouth doesn't closeyour post made me wonder if any Grimlock figures can do that thing where his lower jaw was off to the side. Totally pointless but could be fun for making a chewing animation.
Man, I really want some extras of certain transformers weapons to fuck around with. I hate that third parties can't just sell weapon packs with cool shit, it always so garbage upgrade kits with tons of filler bullshit.Like the overgear figures. Yes I want those giant guns for my transformers, or MPG Super Ginrai's super conductor rifles with that sexy pivot.
>>11734851i think third party weaponizer parts are a huge untapped market. instead of MP or legends scale updates just do some deep cut character update in gens scale with a shit ton of 5mm items. I wonder if there's some modular system that uses 5mm... i've heard lego technic is close.
>>11734851I've seen some weapon models on those 3D printing STL sites. If you have no interest in investing in a resin printer there are sites that will ship you the completed print for about the price of an upgrade kit.

>>11734674>But then they canned the series and since there was no series to explain why straxus looked VASTLY different; well, they quickly threw together the new transmetal 2 Megatron to fill his slot, since updating an older design = easyThat was when they scrapped the idw license too.Idw was introducing straxus specifically to explain his legacy look. It's pretty wild when you realize they repurposed the design into trashmaster.A lot of signs that jhiaxus started as non-wrecked idw straxus before that got scrapped too, though that might've been for completely different reasons. Normal idw straxus was heavily based on the wfc seekers, so they mightve shifted gears the moment they decided they'd start gamer edition. Hasbro gets very tight lipped about "cancelled" designs cause they often cannibalize parts for another unrelated design later
