Between Dramatic Capture Series, Masterpiece Movie Series NEXT, Overgear, and New Legends, are you glad that Takara is picking up the slack and fixing Hasbro's slop?

is it so much to ask to have a version that takes all the extra engineering for the retarded, non-movie-accurate combined mode and uses that to hide the jetbottom kibble instead?

I'm not asking for it to be perfect, just... can we hide his sideburns better?

also, has anyone ever consciously noticed... because the real vehicle has like one-third the mass of the robot mode in the toy, does the toy then visibly have out-of-scale vehicle kibble?

It's literally just a nicer repaint of the already existing SS Jetfire. The hands have always been like that. You'll just have to hope that they remake Jetfire once they remake Optimus first.

Have you not noticed that we're getting a Titan Class Grimlock as a redo of the old Leader Class Grimlock from 8 years ago? Yeah HasTak are now going to start redoing a bunch of older SS toys. The leaks say we're getting a Leader Class redo of the first movie Optimus Prime.

Barring some shitty IDWness in the designs here and there, there were excellent toys all around. You’re retarded. These were very light. As much as I don’t like the current Deluxe price, I say they’re at least a bit denser feeling. Compare current Quickstrike and Venin to even Tarantulas from Legacy who felt like picking up air.

So TLDR, while the price has gone up, at least they’re slightly denser at the moment

Got Amalgamous some days ago and there's something that baffles me about it. I was expecting to have way more freedom when rearranging his parts, but there's a design choice that limits creativity a lot, and it's something so stupid and easily avoidable that I don't understand why they din't think about it. The thing has a lot of 5mm holes, and that's great... but what's the point when most of his components don't have pegs? Most of them are in the body part, but every single piece should have at least one peg, that would make the number of configurations rise exponentially. It feels way too restricted for something whose selling point should be "build whatever you want with it".

Nonetheless he passed the dinosaur test, so I guess he's alright.

So Hasbro's never going to re-release the Bat Optimus vs Gator Megatron pack again, and they'll never repaint the Bat Optimus into Nyx?
>>
>>11730152
Jetfire is a repaint not a redo. Titan Grimlock is a redo since they're redoing both the character and the old toy with a new more bigger and more accurate toy.
>>
>>11730011
This isn't difficult. A "redo" is when Hasbro decides to take another swing at making a toy of a character. Sometimes this can be a retooled version of a previous mold (such as the Siege toys for Springer and Shockwave getting extensively remolded for SS86), but more often it's just a whole new attempt at a toy. For example, SS86 Thundercracker is a redo of a character who most recently had gotten a toy in Earthrise. It's a different mold with a different aesthetic, but it's still Hasbro making a new attempt at a mainline toy based on the same guy.

So a redo could be an old mold retooled, or an entirely new mold. The main thing is that it's Hasbro releasing a new toy of the same character.

3D Print.
Surprised to see that someone actually wants a plastic solid shield though, I never used mine from the 3P Fanshobby set.
>>
>>11730703
Another Prima Artifact. But if we give each of the individual components of Nexus Prime a piece of the Cyber Caliber, one of the components has to be the Skyboom Shield. The other components would be the Chaos Edge, Omni Saber, Terminus Blade, and probably the Proton Spear (if the rest of Onyx Prime's spear in his toy isn't already said Artifact).
>>
>>11730705
It's kind of the logic on Wyatt's designs on pretty much any of his works. They feel flat, and it's actually a good thing that makes for some good toys (not everything has to be perfect, though).
>>
>>11730705
>New one looks better, it has more sculpted detail
The aesthetics of these new animated figures don't make sense because they're just sticking the animated character's head and smooth, flat front section onto a blocky G1 base with more sculpted detail and it all clashes too much. There's no consistent aesthetic with any of these animated figures because they have no idea what they want to be and it suffers for it.

Old one looks way better due to the unified aesthetic

2010 Lugnut and Lockdown were fine. Back then they took those designs and reimagined them so they would have a consistent design aesthetic. These new animated figures have the same issue as the prime figures where they feel like halfhearted attempts to try and fit the animated aesthetic with the current blocky generations slop but because that's all they know how to do they can't actually create a real aesthetic out of it.
>>
>>11730348

I'm always willing to shit on Hasbro's retarded decisions but I've never gotten the extreme dickriding Takara gets, even when they're to blame for designing the figures. (after all, I've read people trying to reduce Hasbro's participation to just an ideas guy). Sure, I guess I can buy some design issues being up to budget cuts pushed by the american side, but other baffling design decisions are entirely the fault of the Takara designers.

What is the most successful way to recreate the G1 waist "underwear" in your opinion?
>Upper thighs have waist detail that rotate with the leg (SS86 Megatron, SS86 Hot Rod, Legacy Gears, SS86 Dinobots, etc.)
>Waist is one/two loin flap(s) that conceal round upper thighs connected directly to T-shaped waist (SS86 Optimus, SS86 Ironhide/Ratchet, SS86 Soundwave, Earthrise Seekers, etc.)
>Waist has no flaps, thighs visibly connect to T-shaped waist (SS86 Jazz, Netflix Bumblebee, SS86 Ultra Magnus, SS86 Kup, etc.)

Ohh that's choice. Really the best solution for those physics-breaking G1/Gundam/Brave waists where the thighs bend but the underwear doesn't. Either that or have the thigh joint slide down somehow.
>>
>>11730861
So the old Busou Shinki/modern girlpla thing where the thighs are attached to an armature inside the body that swings down and dislocates, rather than connecting to the hip, which is free-floating? I guess that's one way to do it.

Thinking about it critically, Magmatron might be a better attempt at Nexus Prime's main theme than the official Nexus Prime himself. If we got a Jet/Helicopter, Speed boat/submarine, and tank/truck/train for Nexus in the same vein as Magmatron, I think we all would have been more pleased.

Nexus is supposed to have individual robot modes and they're giving us exactly that in the future.

I'm sure the Hasbro guys only involvement is character ideas, decos and budgeting. Every single time they talk about transformations, sorry, "conversions", in the streams they always mention the Takara designer that came up with the idea.

holy shit why is powerglide as small as a core class

I'll be honest. I don't see it as a traight improvement over the t30. Even the vehicle mode looks nicer on thr older figure, and for how much this version is going for, I do expect better.

Weebs being weebs and thinking anything Japan makes is gold. Shit, I remember when the unification happened some tards honestly believed Hasbro "forced" Takara into doing it.
>>
>>11731070
People have been shitting on Takara ever since MP went to shit and we literally just had 2 threads of people calling Ejima a senile retard. Takara is just the lesser of two evils. Most of Hasbro's decisions and how they've handled the franchise is far worse than what Takara has done because for all their faults, Takara will occasionally do cool shit

Looks almost nothing like the Prime version
Chest design based on the G1 Skyquake yet use it again for Dreadwing
Shoulders are ugly
The absolute boxy ass limbs is easily the worst aspect. It lost ALL interesting design, curve and stylization to just become another ugly box frame guy who lays down and turns into a flying coffee table
Even the colors are noticeably worse

Yup. And with Target basically ending exclusives, trying to get this Hound will be impossible unless Hasbro needs to find some kind of miracle.

Also, what sucks is that Powerglide's alien mask only fits him and him alone, and there's no way to fit said mask to anyone else because of custom pegs, as Powerglide has a rotating face.

Same. Never got the G1 Optimus since I already have tons of them but I ended up liking the Magnus one so much I went back and got the Legacy G1. It's just so simple and easy and fun and makes a good desk toy. I hope we get a Nemesis, Sentinel, and even Toxitron version at some point. It's like Missing Link but doesn't feel like I'll break it by playing with it so much.
>>
>>11731368

I like him alot

I will admit I am a optimus prime slut and I had a big fondness for the G1 toy but legacy G1 prime is fun. Nice update to the classic transformation, solid possibility, great light piping for the eyes, 2 guns! He is a fantastic desk fiddle former. Only real complaints is he really needs some paint or toyhax stickers to make the details pop, the pegs on his guns can be odd as they and his hands are painted and some may prefer him to be in a bigger size class.
>>
>>11731329
Jokes on them. Now I always wait for the second or sometimes 3rd release and get either whatever comes with the best accessories or what goes on clearance and to ROSS.

Damn that's a shame, I assume the wheels leak plasticizers or something? Does this effect other parts on legacy prime or does the melting mean the tires damage other plastics/toys they rub up against?

I have had mine out on a shelf or on my desk since I got him and if I do store hin he will go into a baggie by himself like the rest of my stuff. Wonder if I should start putting a pin hole in baggies to let them off gas.

do beachcomber and sandstorm's wheels do that too?
