>The LEGO Group has accused competing brick-building toy manufacturers of orchestrating a coordinated campaign to undermine its reputation, according to a statement released Friday by the company’s legal team.

>In the announcement, LEGO said it has gathered what it describes as “substantial evidence” indicating that rival companies in the construction toy sector have worked together to spread negative claims about LEGO’s pricing and product quality. The alleged campaign reportedly took place across social media platforms, online forums, and e-commerce marketplaces.

>The company claims that these efforts were designed to portray LEGO products as overpriced and inconsistent in quality—assertions LEGO strongly denies.

>“These claims are not only inaccurate, but appear to be part of a deliberate and organized attempt to mislead consumers,” the company said in its statement. “Our products are subject to strict quality control standards, and we stand firmly behind their safety, durability, and value.”

>While LEGO did not publicly name the companies involved, it characterized them as “competitors within the global brick-building toy industry,” some of which have gained traction in recent years by offering lower-cost alternatives to LEGO sets.

>Industry analysts say the construction toy market has become increasingly competitive, with emerging brands challenging LEGO’s long-standing dominance. However, experts note that direct allegations of coordinated disinformation campaigns between competitors are rare and could signal a significant escalation in industry tensions.

>LEGO’s legal team stated that it is actively investigating the matter and considering potential legal action against those responsible. The company also indicated it may pursue claims related to unfair competition and reputational harm.

So, what's the final consensus on this year's Jurassic sets? I suppose next year it's The Lost World anniversary wave since a new Jurassic film is coming in 2028 so that will take the spot for 2028. Unironically we get a Jurassic Park III 25th anniversary set this summer.

I don't know if you'll be here but I love One Piece so I will answer anyway.
Most of One Piece's world is ruled by a body called the World Government, which is a brutal military autocracy which exists solely to serve the Celestial Dragons (an evil papal elite class) under the pretense of protecting the world from piracy.
The WG outwardly pretends to be something akin to a naval republic with elected representatives from each country, but in practice it's actually run by a council of Celestial Dragons who in turn serve an immortal king called Imu. Imu is immortal, or at least has a very long lifespan, and he is very scared of a mythical pirate called Joy Boy who tried to destroy Imu's then-juvenile World Government 800 years in the past and who is destined to eventually return due to the cyclical nature of Devil Fruits (the fruits that give OP characters their wacky powers, you don't need to know the exact science).
He's so afraid that he's actually gone to great lengths to erase all mentions of Joy Boy from history, alongside anything that took place during the aptly named "Void Century" (the time 800 years ago, when Joy Boy was alive). Imu also goes to great lengths to confiscate any technology that could aid in JB's return, or that could be useful in stopping him. He has often destroyed entire countries and erased them from history for the crime of researching the Void Century and Joy Boy, or because they were withholding precious new tech and weapons from him.

All of these constant purges have had an interesting side effect - basically, for the past 800 years, the technological culture of the world has not advanced as much as it should have, to match the progress made culturally. There are flashbacks to three or four centuries ago, and the fashion sense is still only vaguely late Victorian. Now we're in a modernish era of clothing with a lot of fantasy/weirdness thrown in for good measure.

hey we're all human and make mistakes, but there should have been someone else to double-check. so it's not fair to blame it on that one guy. it's common to imagine multi-billion-dollar companies are perfect, but in reality it all comes down to a couple of guys doing stuff.

Apparently, next week at CinemaCon, Universal will announce the status of the live-action LEGO movies and give two of those movies release dates for 2028 and 2029. I'm sorry if this is not the place to ask this, but I didn't want to create a separate thread for something related to lego, so I'm hoping /toy/ could lend me some of their expertise.
Basically I'm searching for sets that feature unique or weird shooting mechanisms in lego.
When we build lego vehicles with my kid, we introduced a rule, that if something shoots, it needs to physcially shoot a projectile of some kind. Naturally this means that we're limited by the amount of shooting pieces we have at hand. I'll probably end up ordering some shooter pieces, but I vaguely recall that lego sometimes has some shooting feature in sets, that use standard lego pieces with some clever engineering.
I think the name I found online is flick missiles, but maybe you guys know of some wierd designs that don't rely on shooter pieces?
>>
>>11757690
The most common are the lame ass stud shooters in modern lego, the flick blasters with those long projectibles have been phased out except for the occasional appearance on a star wars tank or gunship
Idk if this answers your question

Not sure if this exactly meets your critera but 1356 Stuntman Catapult has a rather odd play feature in that you launch the minifig by physically bending a ladder piece back. Odd example of a play feature that is intended to put stress on a piece.

I've this idea for a lego wargame where each player builds a small fort and forces to defend. The objective would be taking treasures from the throne room/s from the enemy for and into your own. Player with the most in their fort on the last round wins.

Thats the rough idea anyways, how it could possibly work. For now I'm using One Page Rules as a framework for the system but I'd like to work out how the points building system could work for making your fort. I'd also somehow incorporate traps into the fort, like you see on some sets. Also if it would at all be possible to do building destruction. No idea how without keeping the builds super simple that you can easily remove parts of it when destroyed.
>>
>>11757718
Canon/premade factions or can they be custom? It would be sick to buy some cheap blank torsos and shields to print/sticker some custom factions onto
>>
>>11757718
You ever play Lego Battles on DS?
>>
>>11757720
Again, keeping it loose and just using existing OPR factions for stats and point costs. I like to imagine each figure having stats based on what they have, so a shield, helmet and breast plate would give the max armor one could have, a mount would increase movement and maybe health. Some sort of obscuring mask would give the ability to infiltrate the enemy fort on turn 2 and show up anywhere. I think I need to just build a mockup and see how well this would actually work in practice. Specifically the builds.

The two modern ones are the normal stud shooters (found in literally every single Star Wars playset) and the spring loaded shooters (a preassembled 1x4 brick that you load a long thin projectile into). The other ones are the rubber missile launchers and the flick fire missile, although even thise have been almost phased out. On rare occasions you might get things like catapults or a rubber band launcher. I also have a 4+ set with a disc launcher I haven't seen anywhere else.

I am John Lego, CEO of The Lego Group and I task you with creating the next multi year original theme. No, it cannot be classic space, pirates or castle but can use those as inspiration. Yes, it has to have a show or videogame with it. Better have a catchy name and characters and cool sets.

That's a pretty nice BMW, I'm surprised by the opening doors. I've wanted to build one of those real-model cars, but they're a little pricey and the one model I was interested in looks a kinda ugly (Supra, both F&F and GR). I saw this Hot Rod a little while ago, liked the aesthetic, and thought it'd be better to get the decades-long desire I've had to build a lego model out of the way with something relatively cheap, otherwise I'd eventually be putting down big bucks for the Model-T set that looks really good.

Vampires in general are deeply rooted in homoeroticism, the first vampire novel was Carmilla and literally about a lesbian vampire couple. I guess people just assume that when you're alive for several hundred year tits and pussy may get dull so you try fucking whatever is fuckable. The sex scene in the castlevania sucks because the adaptation is just dogshit in general.

>>
>>11757877
This and the Forestmen ruins hideout are the two BLD sets I wish I got but I got back into just too last to miss the Transylvania castle. Forestmen hideout is now $400 and I've seen Transylvania go as high as $600-700, would love to own them but alas.
>>
>>11757740
Little lego adventures, storywise its like honey i shrunk the kids where a evil scientist shrunk himself and a group of heroes down to minifigure size, they try to navigate the world and fix there size while avoiding the scientist and his contraptions. The sets are built with using your real world furniture and enviroment in mind as well as play with scale, for example
>spider web bridge escape set where the bridge is designed to be hung between two dining chairs with the scientist in a mechanical bird
>Dr evil roller set where the dr turned a roller scate into a monster truck thing
part of the point of the theme is to have kids not just play within a set on a table but to go throuout there house and have adventures in uncinventional spaces.
>>
>>11757911
Yeah, those are the two I like, but missed out on them as well. I feel like the Transylvania set can go as low as $550-ish, even on scalper central like eBay.

The only other two I've liked so far are the Fortuna (just for being a big pirate-ish ship) and the Sushi Restaurant from series 7. I actually got both of those, but I still want to get the two you listed (and I like the Wolfpack set too, but I think it is only in the $350-ish range)

Basically cowboys in space. The story would have the titular Stellar Outlaws, who live on the fringes of the galaxy, fighting back against an expansionist alien empire.

As a zoomer I have come to find the late 80s to early 90s to be what I consider the true golden age of castle personally. Up to the late 80s castle was enjoyable but still not quite up to the standards as classic space was, and after the Dragon Master's in 1995 I feel like the more fantasy take on medieval culture is kind of hit or miss with sets starting to rely on awkward URPs and such for their builds. I think this era had the perfect selection of factions between the Crusaders, Black Falcons, Black Knight, Forestmen, and Wolfpack. Obviously the actual castles are great, 6086 Black Knight's Castle is generally regarded as the best castle Lego ever made up to the 90th anniversary Lion Knight's castle, but I also enjoy a lot of the mid and small sized offerings from this time too. Smaller sets were nice army builders usually having some small catapult or cart that could slot in anywhere in a display with a nice selection of accessories and mid sized sets had a great selection of strongholds like 6062 Battering Ram seem here or just nice little bases like 6071 Forestmen's Crossing. The only aspect of the theme that I truly think was a missed opportunity was the extreme lack of civilian life, almost no peasantry is represented in this era.

That said I have seen people defend just about every castle theme tooth and nail beside Castle 2013, even themes that I think really suck like Knight's Kingdom II and Kingdoms have fans but I am yet to see any Castle 2013 fans. I suggest looking over all the subthemes snd seeing what appeals to you personally.

how did Lego become this? they used to announce stuff and people would cheer! now people cringe to see how much it's going to cost (hundreds?! again?!) or how they pick the wrong things.

my lowered-expectation of Pokemon-with-Minifigs! is Player 1 (Red) and Professor Oak. only, not even Mom, or Nurse Joy, or Officer Jenny, or even a freaking bicycle in the set. >Rome
Simple, it's Ancient Rome. Sets will have both military and civilian sets, buildings will be temples, forts, villas, markets, triremes, the coliseum. There could also be sets for competing civilisations like Carthage, Gauls, or Britons.
>Odyssey Heroes
Ancient Greece. It is not just a rehash of the Roman one, because it is full of Greek Mythology instead of being purely historical. Sets will include monsters such as the Cyclops, the Hydra, the Minotaur, Medusa, as well as heroes such as Odysseus, Achilles, Hercules, King Leonidas, and Alexander the Great. One of the civilian sets will include great philosophers (Aristotle, Socrates, Euclid). Sets will depict forts, temples, ships, some Ancient Wonders, and a labyrinth for the minotaur.

Greek myth is a kino idea for an original theme

I think I get what you mean, it's a rather abstract concept that's difficult to quantify but you look at these BLD castles and fortresses next to the 90th anniversary Lion Knight castle and they don't really feel "Lego" in the way that set does. From an engineering standpoint these sets are amazing, displaying some of the most imaginative build techniques possible, but in the process they kind of lose the aesthetic seen in official sets. Recently I did something I never thought I would do in a million years and looked into alternative brick brands, particularly Lumi and its castle line. I haven't been able to justify purchasing one yet, having no cheap entry level sets is disappointing, but as a product I think they're quite impressive in terms of what you get. At the same time though theirs designs very much have that "moc aesthetic" to me, they almost don't look like a building brick toy to me and more like a plastic diarama. I want to like them, I really see the appeal, but just can never quite justify one for this reason.
>>
>>11758099

>>
>>11758143
I've got the entire lumi cyberpunk line and they do have some fragile moc bullshit, but they also have play features and fun little hidden things just like Lego. My biggest complaint is their fugly minifigures, and the scale of structures often being a bit too large for the figures.

I really do not think you'd regret buying one though, the lighting is a game-changer and even though they're all like $100, it's way cheaper per-brick than lego. I mean, that pic you posted would be like $500 if it wasn't lumi.

Its probably as sunk cost/time fallacy. They've poured half a billion dollars, and, if the information being passed around is true, nearly a decade of research into this. At the very least, we know the copyright is from 4 years ago, since all the copyrights and trademarks are 2022.

Although, I don't know fucking HOW they put that much time and money into the smartplay. It's been shown over and over, that it basically doesn't work as intended in many cases, and the sound effects sound like garbled MIDI effects that somehow sound worse than the original Gameboy that came out like nearly 40 years ago.

I've pointed it out before and I am surprised no one else really talks about this, but it is 110% obvious that the reason Lego's prices on everything have ballooned out of control the last 3-4 years is to mitigate the Smart Brick R&D costs. If they depended entirely on Smartbrick sales to recover their costs, Lego would probably go bankrupt.

>Lego made 2.6 billion in NET profit last year
Yeah, we all know that, and that is (again) after ballooning prices to absurd levels. Its no coincidence that Lego's copyright/trademark for the Smartbrick is 2022, and while people already thought prices were kind of high then, it was really about 2023 until now that prices really ramped up. Especially on Star Wars sets.

Why do you think they had those record breaking profits? I'm sure it had nothing to do with scaling the sizes of sets down over every past iteration of the same vehicle. Probably has nothing to do with cheapening out on parts, cheapening out on minifigure printing, putting sheets of stickers into sets that should be printed, etc.

They made those profits because they gouged prices and cut corners in every way, shape, and form they could thing of. Besides, even if they made 2.6 billion last year, half a billion isn't exactly something to sneeze at if your endeavor ends up being a failure.

You can pretty much see all of the cuts happen in real-time, too. Take a look at large sets (especially in Star Wars and stuff like Marvel) look at the piece counts and minifigure counts of sets from 2022 and before, and compare them to sets from just a year or two later. Nevermind the ones from last year and this year.

They hand wave away any sort of criticism, and when challenged on why they cheap out on expensive sets either by printed parts, or shitty minifigures they sling buzzwords corporate jargon around and act as if their hands were tied, that's why we have to give you half as many minifigures, hundreds less pieces, a scaled down build, and 50 stickers in a set that costs $100 more than the previous version.

that's a lot of reasons but it's a lot simpler:
Lego tried it (expensive sets)
people still bought it

it's not Lego's "fault" they get away with it because customers let them. if people stopped buying the expensive sets, they would stop making them. it's technically OUR fault (not me, I don't buy the expensive sets)

>>
>>11758223
>Lego tried it (expensive sets)
>people still bought it
Well, yeah. That's pretty much exactly what I mean. That's why the prices of SW and Marvel and stuff have prices that have increase hand-over-fist, while other themes and Lego's own IPs have gone up, but at least somewhat more tolerable rates.

Naturally, they try to hang it on the Glup Shittos (like charging $150 for that new Razorcrest, which looks like it is maybe a $80 set at most. But, Ooh! Look at this new Zeb minifigure! He has dual molded arms AND legs! A first for Star Wars, how exciting!).

The problem is mostly all the Disney stuff and IPs. Their fanbases are paypigs, and even if they might complain, they'll still buy the sets. The only thing they'll do to combat rising prices is review bomb Lego and Amazon and stuff. But they'll still buy the sets.

Depends on where he lives. If he lives in one of the six countries that sell smart brick sets (US, UK, France, Germany, Poland, and Australia), then he can get a few smart brick sets at different price points. But if he does not live in one of those six countries, all he can get are 18+ sets such as Eevee ($60), Pikachu and Poké Ball ($200), Kanto starters ($650), and in the summer there will also be worldwide releases of the Poké Ball Scene set ($260), Rayquaza ($130), Munchlax ($70), and Arcanine ($100). Pretty good offers from LEGO. Why did they make 13 smart play sets region locked? Lmao.

They don't do shit for space anymore anyway. They haven't done a true, unique, dedicated space theme since 2013, just City offshoots with fairly realistic shuttles, space stations, rockets, and some other stuff.

My only hope is, since they're apparently doing the M-tron Mega Core Magnetizer as a mini scale insider set soon, that means they take one of the larger ships like the Stellar recon voyager or the Particle Ionizer and update it and release it as a set similar to how they did the classic space Galaxy Explorer and the Blacktron Renegade recently. Biggest casualty, of course, is the loss of the trans neon colors...

Has anyone else had missing or incorrect pieces in sets recently? It seems to keep happening to me and it's frustrating as fuck. I bought the Charizard/Blastoise/Venusaur set and was unable to complete two of the three because they had parts that were just flat out incorrect. A curved plate was replaced with a flat plate, and a curved under 2x1 was replaced with a different 2x1. Worse yet, I did their pick a brick service, and instead of sending me 10 red translucent cones, they sent me 10 santa beards. This doesn't even feel like a new trend, because the same thing happened several years ago with the Lego roller coaster that ALSO had a part swapped for a different one. I've never had a missing piece, but I one time got a very damaged piece, and also one time had a set that had two extra pieces. And I'm not talking about the extra 1x1s or accessories, they were very large pieces. Even even rechecked all of my steps in the manual and the piece catalogue in the back, and both of them were just straight-up extra pieces.

The damaged piece was in a set from like 12 years ago, though. It looked like someone dropped it on the ground, and then stepped on it and slid across the floor. Basically looked like it had been scratched to fuck on a sandy surface, or with high-grit sandpaper.

Bionicle had a few different types of launchers, including several ball launchers it shared with System sets:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=60932cx1
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=64275
They would fire these plastic sphere pieces:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=54821
There have also been various disc launcher and air-pressure launchers over the years, but they always used exclusive ammunition and only appeared in a few sets.

Around 2005 to 2008, there was also a brick-built launcher design that was featured in several Vikings and Fantasy Era sets. It's a bit hard to describe, but you can see a demo of the function here; it just used some slopes, a rubber band, and a few Technic pieces for the firing mechanism and ammunition.

>>
>>11758446
You just create some underlying narrative that you can buy into, and build the sets around them. Most of the 80s and 90s space themes had stuff like this.

>Classic space: Civilians exploring space
>Blacktron: Intercepting and decoding messages from other space-faring civilizations
>Space Police: Mostly shown hunting down Blacktron, but the purpose of Space police is pretty obvious
>Ice Planet: Mining icy worlds for materials for rockets
>Explorians: Searching for alien fossils
Among others.
>Life on Mars: Humans and Martians working together to explore Mars

Or it could be just the fall back on "Earthlings vs. some Alien faction" (Alien Conquest, Galaxy Squad)

Honestly, you could just easily take a concept like "Harvesting stars or black holes for energy" or "Sampling Materials from comets" or something. Just to come up with a foundation of ideas for vehicles and bases and machines that make sense.

Deep Space colonization:
-First year is normal exploration. Finding a gimmick energy source in second wave. Big set: deep range spaceship
-Second phase is building a permanent base with construction faction. Finding signs of alien life in form of relic/ruins in second wave. Big sets: colony ship, home base, alien ruins
-Third year is mining with a new industrial faction with drilling machine, transporters, introducing a second competing faction and finding live aliens which are the source of the gimmick energy. Could be in the form of a Lovecraft old ones or an ancient race in cryopods. Big sets: alien temple, oil rig base.
-Fourth phase is western gold rush in space. Introduce villains (aliens from elsewhere, cyborgs, bots and humans) with a space police faction preventing smuggling of alien artifacts from a transport faction. Big set: monorail equivalent.
- Fifth year: conflict: Bring a galactic federation type of ship to bring law and order with armed ships. Big set: galactic cruiser.
- Sixth year: terraforming the planet so that everyone can live together (human, aliens) with cyberpunkish sets that subvert the casual city stuff: buses, food truck, restaurant, museum integrating the new energy source or the new aliens. Wave two: preparation for exploring further away.

Talking about Bionicle? I'd think it has about the same moccing potential as any other theme, if not more. Taking Ninjago, where there would be Dragons and Mechs, there would be Rahi, Titans, Exo Toa, vehicles, etc, the first 2 of those spanning just about anything (small crabs to huge creatures, from large characters like Axonn to large monsters like Gadunka). Then if we're talking locales there are certain iconic areas from G1, though I'd think they'd make new ones, but for example the Kini Nui, I'd say some of the villages from MNOG, the Codrex which could house vehicles.

Who knows, maybe with Tahu here it might inspire some people to give building some of these a try.

I wonder how uncanny-off the Chima characters would look without the eye-hole-helmets and minifig heads underneath

word is they did that because they were unsure if customers would accept molded heads instead of regular-heads, and it was giving you both options to use the eye-holes. 100% Today Lego would just skip right to only molded heads

Weird question, I have a minifig but am missing their accessories and want to buy them on bricklink. I added all of them to my wanted list and searched stores with them but all of them only offer the parts via purchasing the full minifig which is way more expensive then the individual accessories. >Does Monkey Kid have the popularity of Ninjago?
No obviously not. But the thing is, LEGO didn't want it to compete with Ninjago. They made MK for the chinese market. We only got the sets because LEGO doesn't restrict sales to regions. What I don't understand is, why they even dubbed the tv show in multiple languages but then didn't care to promote it further.

I started collecting MK sets in late 2021 and I'm still missing a few, but even I have to admit, that I kinda lost interest when it was clear LEGO didn't intend to continue the theme.

I don’t know what to tell you, man. I don’t own any Dreamzzz(zzzrepeating of course), but the appeal of a neon alligator submarine or a brachiosaur hotrod or whatever else seems quite intuitive. You just need to face the music: you’re not a kid any longer, and what you want is not new original sets but just to recapture that sentiment from time when you were less cynical and less beaten down and unless Lego recreates precisely the thing you grew up with, you’re going to find it gay and lame, because necessarily baked into any new theme is the very change and passage of time you’re so trying to flee from.

Anyway, just look up cool MoCs from the themes you grew up with and build those.

Personally I feel like my issue with modern lore centric themes (Ninjago, Chima, Nexo Knights, Hidden Side, Monkey Kid, Dreamzzz) is that it feels hard to work these kind of sets into scenarios outside of the initial scene depicted in the sets. With more universal themes like space, castle, and pirates it was not only easier to find ways to piece builds for one theme into another but various play scenarios. I collect old space and castle stuff and love fiddling with my displays, just adding a small new thing or reworking something's positioning is a lot of fun to me. With these modern themes though I just don't feel like that's usually possible, it can be awkward to work sets withneach other because one may be based on a specific scene from one of the shows and look out of place with other sets even from the same theme. I still like these themes, in particular I really liked Hidden Side as I'm a sucker for any kind of horror theme, but as an adult it's usually hard for me to justify buying these sets and even when I do I usually display them by themselves.
>>
>>11758805
I feel the same way, but I don’t know what kids today like. It seems like there’s been a shift away from generic (and I don’t mean this as a pejorative) themes to more character or even brand/IP themes. And it felt like this shift was happening even when I was a kid.
I don’t know. Are kids interested in general pirate or cowboy or space scenarios anymore? Or does everything need to be tied to some vertically integrated multimedia property?

>vertically integrated multimedia property?
For orginal IPs it sure as hell does. Beside city and the several hundred dollar collector's sets I think this may honestly be the only way that the creatives are even able to justify even considering them to the suits. Suits probably see inhouse themes as only conpeting with licensed themes that they could be remotely compared to, you would think removing the cost of licensing the IP would sweeten the deal but I think IP themes are so profittable that these fees don't even concern suits. I don't think it's that kids today wouldn't appreciate generic themes, it's that soulless corporate drones see them as a genuine threat and waste of space that could be going to smart bricks.
>>
>>11758810
Kids can have fun with sticks and rocks, generic sets don't matter. But today everyone lives in a digital world and kids are definitely exposed to an overwhelming amount of content more easily so there's more competition. Minecraft, SW, things kids know will just stand out more.
>>
>>11758805
Lego used to be about you creating the storyline in your head. They gave you vehicles and playsets to work with, and then you created the narrative around them and were encouraged to make alternate builds, or disassemble the sets altogether to make something new.

Free thinking and abstracting ideas to create your own story are pretty much just a dying art in general now. The sets and themes for kids now have to have some sort of cartoon or existing narrative behind them, and the "sets for adults" are just buildable models/display pieces from [movie/video game/comic/TV show, etc.] they like that are meant to be built once put on a shelf, and then never thought about again.

Creating your own backdrop for the sets and personalities for the minifigures is just too hard now. Please buy the 10th iteration of the Millennium Falcon/Joker Escape/Spider-Man vs. Venom/Hogwarts Castle/etc. sets.

>Or does everything need to be tied to some vertically integrated multimedia property?
that's not a new concept. back in the 80's it was key to have the virtual advertisement show. Transformers, G.I.Joe, Masters of the Universe, etc, all had cartoons and it was a chicken-and-the-egg debate if the toys sales drove the shows, or if the shows drove the toy sales.

Lego might have attributed Ninjago success due to the matching show, so now they think that's the normal thing to do (?)

I was able to make my own minifig characters alongside the G.I.Joes and Transformers existing characters, I didn't have any problems with that, myself.

But this is fucking true. Sets are so overpriced. I have a bunch of brown/dark blue/dark red bricks cracking. I never had missing pieces in a set until last year. I would also say that it's criminal having fuckign stickers in a $300+ set but fuck you that you're getting new prints in a 4+ fucking Disney set.
>>
>>11758918
>assertions LEGO strongly denies
I wonder how they would possibly deny this in court considering how subjective the statement "overpriced and inconsistent in quality" is. Them being overpriced is entirely the perception of the consumer and I don't really see how they could argue against it aside from comparing their prices to those of their competitors which would not be favorable for them lol. They could make some sort of statistics based argument for consistent quality but again this comes down to customer perception moreso than any objective values. Even if they can claim a 0.1% error rate or whatever, people can still claim the quality is worse than in years past and provide evidence of that.

The difference is that Europe at least ended up settling on countries with their own boarders and boundaries. I mean, they did try to keep each other in grips by marrying relatives into royalty of other countries (or hell, just marrying each other in the case of the Habsburgs).

So now invading each other is a completely different thing. China and India are actually far more akin to each other, since India also has a long history of infighting and civil wars, and periods of the entire country collapsing.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of mental illness I have that says ninjago is lame but exo force is kino. On paper I should like Ninjago but it's just gay by comparison

If exo force looked like your image, it would be kino. Unfortunately, back in the real world, exo force mechs look gay and retarded and far worse than the ninjago mechs
>>
>>11759087
Its the chest cockpits. Exo Force mechs are slightly more utilitarian and western in design, while Ninjago mechs are trying to be ornate japanese bionicles or exo suits with the head of the pilot exposed

*wrong*
>>
>>11759095
Yeah, they look like bad Mechassault ripoffs whereas Ninjago look more like bad Gundam ripoffs.
>>11759097
Then why is the example given, the ur-exo force mech in this thread, a MoC with a completely distinct anime’d-up design sensibility? Why not post an actual exo force mech? Of course anyone could tell you why: it’s because they’re ugly, shameful things.

The funniest thing about Exo Force to me is it came off like a "How do you do, fellow anime enjoyers?" like the old boomer understanding of anime that was spiky hair, big eyes and giant robots.

That, or it came off as parody. It actually reminds me of the South Park episode that rips on anime, than being a genuine love letter to anime, or even just being inspired by it.
>>
>>11759099
To this day I can't watch that episode because of the shuriken stuck in the eye. It bothers the fuck out of me.
>>
>>11759099
Yeah, it’s right from that awkward era of anime-inspired western cartoons where every such project felt uncanny and inauthentic. Of course, as another anon mentioned, although they went all-out (or “all-out” for a thing motivated by a sentiment like “you kids like this Japanese shit right?”) with the anime style, they nonetheless paired it with ugly, awkward westoid mechs, comparable more to the forklift suits from Aliens than anything from any age of Mecha anime.

>“It hits on two challenging aspects. First, Bionicle, then second cosplay,” said Graphic Designer Tore Magelund Harmark-Alexandersen to Brick Fanatics at Fan Media Days 2025.
>“If you do a cosplay elf warrior in a collectable minifigures series, it’s just going to look like an elf warrior. Where’s the cosplay aspect? Unless we do it in a rough way. So we thought marrying the two was a perfect solution, and having the little canister that they were originally in underlines that story.”

Western just because they're a cockpit with legs and occasionally arms, there's no attempt to humanize it, it's treated as a vehicle, which is what I prefer for a non sentient giant suit of armour

Exo Force mechs were clearly inspired by James Cameron style mecha and that's why they are so kino.

Reminder, Chima was not cancelled because of poor sales, it was still selling very well in its third year. It was cancelled because Ninjago was more popular, and the Ninjago team was split between Ninjago and Chima, so LEGO decided to focus all its resources on Ninjago instead.

The final wave of Nexo Knights also sold the best in the series, but LEGO had already decided to cancel it.

So, was this leak fake? Or it's a 2027 villain? Because the elemental fire monster looks different in the show and the upcoming sets will feature the show design.

BAD NEWS: Ninjago Legacy won't have new sets in 2027. Only sets we will get will be Dragons Rising and Legends.

Source: BrickTap and Lite

Now, it's possible we might get new Legacy sets in 2028 because the blacksmith shop and display sets sold like crazy, but nothing for 2027.
>>
>>11759146
I don't get how it cannibalizes Chima tho, Chima is such a different world from Ninjago. Like I get they say they cannibalize the same boy market but then.... don't marvel, dc and star wars do the same? Nexo Knights is debatable, I think they really needed more Castle like buildings in the theme and they had plenty in the show, too much vehicle focus, should've been split.
>>
>>11758875
>Lego used to be about you creating the storyline in your head. They gave you vehicles and playsets to work with, and then you created the narrative around them and were encouraged to make alternate builds, or disassemble the sets altogether to make something new.

I simply do not care for childish Lego themes that require a fucking kids cartoon to understand. I want NORMAL Lego for NORMAL people that kids can AFFORD. And I genuinely hate how every one of these original Lego themes just end up being "car, mech, or giant car mech". Going all the way back to Chima too. Nexo Knights started off with actual castle shit and then it fell for the vehicle meme.

Finally: bring back Western, Castle, Pirates, Dinos, Space, and Japanese Castle. These licensed substitutes are too much. What happened to all the normal fucking sets?
>Shoe
>Racing helmet
>Thanos glove but shit
>Super hero heads but fucking terrible
>Star Wars play sets? No, Dioramas for big boys but double the price!!
>A WHOLE FUCKING F1 "CMF"
Enuff!!

Also I missed several previous threads. What was the over concensus of the racing helmet sets? I'm not big racing but I noticed the visor looked like a new giant piece. I'm not sure what to think of Lego doubling down again for F1.

>Instead of just buying mech figurines he makes his own
That's kinda giga based. I think Ninjago looks lame because it's basically just power rangers and ninja turtles into one thing. Exo Force does have those ugly westoid anime faces tho. Kinda like those ugly Clone Wars heads.
>>
>>11759167
It could just be the bionicle brain talking but I wouldnt mind getting comics for themes like castle and space, not anything focusing on named protagonists though, just something showing what certain factions are doing and why as well as build ideas in the background

>>11759162
