Welcome to the first RAPT (RoboCop Alien Predator Terminator) general. This general is mainly for these franchises. You can talk about modern lines, but the main focus is on the older vintage stuff from Kenner, Toy Island, etc.Discussion of the films and other media is welcome (because let's face it /tv/ is a hole) to help lulls between toyline announcements.Discussion of other similar films and toylines like Rambo, Last Action Hero, Congo, Demolition Man, even Waterworld, is welcome. Especially if it pertains to part swapping, customs, or features for wishful toylines you'd like to see.
The Terminator figure I used in this photo was the Toy Island figure and boy howdy those joints are fragile. I had the same figure as a kid and both arms sheered off at the shoulder, and gently posing that figure the left hip felt like it wanted to come off if I bent it any further. I do not recommend that specific figure unless you're never going to pose it.
>>11780792Nice idea for a thread anon. I have the Kenner Mantis Alien I got at a con, love that little dude.On that note a while ago I started working on a 3D printable 1/18 Rogue Trader Space Marine figure, was gonna have retro Joe style articulation (with a few upgrades, notably thigh and bicep swivels and a balljointed waist instead of the O-ring assembly). Need to get back to it, unfortunately real life drama meant I wasn't in a position to be doing much of anything for a while (TLDR: marriage disintegrated, NOT over toys would you believe it) but I'm in a better space now so...
>>11780795Fuck off
>>11780801>Nice idea for a thread anon. Thanks, I've made previous Terminator and RoboCop themed threads, and the other two franchises (and others) come up all the time in relation to them, so myself and other anons thought it might be worthwhile making a dedicated general for those properties. The Mantis Alien is great I picked one up a couple years ago at a toy fair myself. I've been trying to complete my childhood Kenner Alien and Predator lines, I only have Killer Crab Alien to go for my Alien set then I'm done (minus variants of course), I want to find it in the wild at a toy fair or collector shop for the thrill of the hunt, but they never have the missiles.Sorry to hear about the marriage, that sucks, but now as you said you're in a better space, so you can focus on making a better Space Marine!
>>11780802Well that's the thing, you'd license their likenesses and nothing else. Their existing fanbases would foot the bill for advertising while the toy company reaps all the rewards. Then, should the contracts expire, you could just use those bodies for other characters down the road.
>>11780797It's a shame how finnicky the Endo design is to realize IRL. Even the Super7 Reaction Endos had a tendency to fall to pieces in package. Frankly that's partially why I'm so forgiving of the Salvation toys despite their shortcomings. Considering what they retailed for they turned out better than they had any right to. Has anyone else seen those japanese robot skeleton kits? Last I checked they were out of stock but talk about some killer Terminator stand ins. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mNcDMJSZk1E&pp=ygUXZHJsbyBza2VsZXRvbiBtb2RlbCBraXQ%3D
>>11780792>main focus is on the older vintage stuff from Kenner, Toy Island, etc.>to help lulls between toyline announcements. This doesn’t make any sense. But also NECA makes collectibles for all of these franchises and would’ve been a fine place to discuss this.
>>11780801Looks good so far, my only concern is whether or not the hips could put up with the weight of the upperbody. >>11780806For as fun as Lanard's line turned out to be the abscence of new xeno-hybrids really was hard ro ignore. I've drawn a few myself over the years. I'll have to dig those out later. With how much hype the last few aliens projects have garnered you'd think we'd see more companies trying to take advantage of the xeno hybrid thing. A Jurassic World scale Xenosaurus Rex would really be awestriking.
>>11780820>the Super7 Reaction EndosI mentioned this in previous threads but I hate that figure specifically. I paid for the chrome version and it feels terrible, and not just fragile, but the vac metal is poorly done with flashing all over the place. Thing feels like someone made a figure out of poorly glued together metal shavings.
Gorilla Alien is best Alien
>>11780824Hips are just blocked in at the moment. Lots of the body will be (non-visibly) hollow so it shouldn't be too top heavy. But thanks!
>>11780823>But also NECAI knew you'd show up. Nobody wants you NECA anon, go away. I purposely didn't mention the NECA figures by name because I knew you'd show up if I did.
>>11780825There was so much wrong about those early reaction releases. Almost feels like they got worse with time. Every so often I'm tempted to nab one of the Arnies but then I get a look at those gummy headsculpts and lose interest all over again. If they hadnt been so greedy they might have made some profit.
>>11780827Cant wait to see you finish it either way. It sure beats the Star Brigade armor tech figures from the 90's.
>>11780824The Lanard Aliens were good, the thing that let them down, and continues to let them down in general were the "Marines" they were just repacks of previous The Corps figures and they are so terrible, bad plastic and whoever does the sculpting is just not good. Cheap and awful feeling, which is a shame because there's a lot of potential there.
>>11780826He is great.I always liked the Scorpion Alien because of the closer screen-accuracy, but the exploding gimmick (literally the worst toy gimmick) caused me to lose one of the torso halves, so I ended up playing with the Gorilla Alien the most. The little hand on the end of the tail snapped off mine, maybe I should try and track down a complete version one day.
Just posting a previous whimsy. It's amazing how compatible lines can be when you wanna get silly.
>>11780792Thanks. The text is really good. Well done!
>>11780840
>>11780843
>>11780829Shut the fuck up, NECA can be discussed here, and should be.
>>11780835>continues to let them down in general were the "Marines" What irks me about those repacks were the figures they chose to pack in as Marines. Lanard as a ton of Corps molds to choose from. They could have used their star trooper molds with new heads or some of their older figures with grittier sculpts, but they went for the dinkiest chap mei fodder options they had. They should have just packed in more xenos at that point.
>>11780845OK.It's a shame NECA had to be the ones to do the Kenner style aliens, I've been burned one too many times by their shitty QC to buy them again.
>>11780839How much are these guys to buy nowadays? I'm afraid to check ebay.
>>11780839NECA did a great job their update. I loved all the new sculpted details and the head was perfection.
>>11780812Ok, thats quite clever to give customers the option to make them by themself. And it shows how generic the movie designs are. Just make a biker or jungle fighter as villian which can be used to make a Terminator or Rambo figure.
>>11780847Really? Sounds like you might be a retard then man. Try not being a raging sperg when you handle normal toys.
>>11780839If you can find one for a good price, go for it. You cant go wrong with kenner aliens. >caused me to lose one of the torso halvesOof, that always does suck, especially as a kid. Toybiz made this modular Mr Fantastic for the 2005 FF movie, and I still cringe thinking about losing his parts. One day I'll buy myself a replacement. Back on topic, how come nobody ever gushes about the Resurrection line? I've always been a fan of the Aqua Alien myself.
>>11780848>How much are these guys to buy nowadays?Honestly not too bad. Kenner made fucking tons of these things, and also because Kenner's stuff from the 80s and 90s was basically indestructible, it's not hard to find loose ones in fairly good condition.
>>11780840>>11780843>>11780844Your image set single handedly reignited my love for Terminator. I cant thank you enough for that anon.
>>11780847Please don't engage him, I don't want him shitting up the thread.
>>11780847I really wish those figures saw more success. There was so much they could have done there.
>>11780856I guess because the movie was pretty divisive. I actually enjoyed it myself; not a good movie objectively but had some fun bits and also some genuinely distressing horror.
>>11780860Nah, you already shit up the thread.
>>11780851Exactly! Another thing I'd really like to do with that line is pack it with recycled vehicles. Just buy some retired toy molds and pack them in. There's this indian toy company called "Funskool", and they've been sitting on all the hasbro/kenner batman and gi joe molds from the early 90s for years now. They continue to release Gi Joe VAMPS into the modern day. If I had the money to burn I'd buy all their molds in a heart beat just to go wild with them.
NECA Dek in his training armor
>>11780862That makes alot of sense actually. You remain in your bubble for long enough you tend to forget those details. Resurrection is the perfect example of how much has changed in the past few decades too. Even the biggest blockbuster duds of the 90's still had all this great visual flare to them despite the writing letting them down in one way or another. Burton's Planet of the Apes comes to mind in that same respect. Beautiful looking movie, but utterly insufferable to watch through.
>>11780869Thia and Bud pack
>>11780792>I only just now took notice of the beautiful OP imageHoly shit OP you're my favorite anon on the board at this point
>>11780875Nah he's kind of a douche
Poster Series Predator 2 figure, this one should be out pretty soon actually.
>>11780795>Make Aliens Great Again>>11780801>>11780806Mantis was one of the few I never got back in the day. I'm tempted to get a carded one so I can soak up that lost glory. But then I'd know if go balls deep and get the rest of the ones I used to own..Surprisingly, most of those Kenner Aliens can be had for a lot cheaper than most of the NECA Kenner tribute line. I missed the first few, and I'm almost tempted to grab a bootleg Mantis, Gorilla, Scorpion and Snake Alien because the official ones are beyond rape prices. They are more akin to getting fisted by John Wayne Gacy using clown paint for lube. If NECA reissued them, I'd skip the bootlegs.>>11780823No, NECA general is not the place to discuss xeno figures apart from NECA figures. Whenever someone tries to point out that the Mafex has a more accurate head than the NECA Ultimate Big Chap despite the Mafex being a vastly inferior figure that falls apart of you breathe on it, some asshole throws a tantrum and tries to troll anyone that has an opinion that doesn't match his own. >>11780826Wrong. That would be pic related.
>>11780881Would’ve picked this one up, but unfortunately it seems he can’t actually hit the pose on the poster, at least in the promo pics.
>>11780883The feet on that old girl always keep me at bay. It's the wings that do alot of the heavy lifting. Sort of makes you wonder why they never tried fantasy xenos. Imagine a Xeno-dragon or a Xeno-corn. You could have done Predator Knights too. At this point I'm just thinking outloud.
>>11780856It might have been >>11780862, but also I remember as a kid being slightly annoyed that the figures weren't compatible with the older figures and being so pre-posed they were awkward to play with. That said I had all the figures except Call, who is still on my grail list. All that said Aqua Alien was also my favourite, but as an adult I can appreciate all the figures for the masterpieces that they are. Enjoy some OC, really proud of how this turned out.
>>11780858You're welcome, anon. I'm just glad others are happy to discuss them.
>>11780857I know my Scorpion, Bull and Queen Aliens still look great. I'm pretty sure there is only a couple more aliens to complete that line up.Is there a Robocop that scales well? I've still got my Terminators and Predators in storage. It feels like I'm 90% of the way there.
>>11780883The Mafex isn't more accurate though, so that's weird that you're obsessed liked that. You need to get some therapy and moce on.
>>11780884It literally can, it would just need a stand to be leaned back that far.
>>11780886>but also I remember as a kid being slightly annoyed that the figures weren't compatible with the older figures and being so pre-posed they were awkward to play with.Yeah I suspected that might have played a role in matters. For as much as I still hold some fondness for that early 2000's collector push, we inadvertantly lost alot along the way. The difference between Kenner's T2 and Mcfarlane's T3 toylines says alot about all that changed in the decade between the two movies. Just now I started to wonder what an early 90's Kenner line based off the AvP movies could have been like.Anyways great pic, the lighting really makes that sculpt pop.
>>11780872More Badlands figures on the way
>>11780897
>>11780875Thank you, I'm glad it turned out as well as it did. I dream of one day having a dedicated photo space where I can set up tin cans and stuff like they used to have in commercials.
>>11780898
>>11780888NTA but you cant go wrong with the Toy Island Robocops. They're a little taller than the Kenner ones and alot stockier to boot. I saved pic related awhile back just to illustrate the scale difference. Top Robo is toy island, bottom is kenner.
>>11780885She balanced well for having those clawed feet for the "swoop in and capture marines" action feature. I pretty sure only one claw was spring loaded. Honestly, she balanced better than the Big Chap warrior from the AVP 2 pack. That flicker took a tumble and had a leg break off. It was a real shame since he was the most accurate movie alien in the line, with the Scorpion being a close second.Really, from the first two waves, I liked most of the xenos. Queen Face Hugger was probably the least favourite, but it was so jammed with action features that I stull played with it a heap..
>>11780899Absolutely basedI hope you're able to realize your dream one day
>>11780894I think McFarlane definitely caused a shake-up in the industry, suddenly sculpts became super important. Like the Legends of the Dark Knight figures, absolutely gorgeous sculpts but most of them cannot move, like this Scarecrow figure, the arms literally only move out to the sides in a T-Pose for the gimmick, but it's probably still one of the best looking Scarecrow figures to date.
>>11780904Yeah the NECA is way, way better
Okay, I'm gonna make a rule for next General, no NECA discussion. They have their own general and NECA anon keeps shitting things up.
>>11780917Nope, NECA will continue to be discussed here. It's intertwined with the properties. You don't get to be a dick about things.
>>11780919
>>11780924Oh cool, a troll post. Good to see you go mask off
I really want a new Anne Lewis figure. I'm gonna track down an old Ultra Police one, because it's not bad for what it is, but seriously a modern smaller scale figure that will fit with the Toy Island stuff is needed.
>>11780903>That flicker took a tumble and had a leg break offOoof. I winced just imagining that. Sorry that happened to you anon. The amount of features they were able to bake into the aliens line still baffles me even now. The crab alien is almost comical in how over the top it is. Truly a height of toy design we'll never again reach.
>>11780919You're being a dick. You dont contribute to the discussion, you just spam pics of neca figures.
>>11780938Definitely yeah, I'm surprised we havent got one already.
>>11780944I'm posting on topic toys, you're picking a fight with people. Not a good look for you.
>>11780945There one figure from JFS coming which looks okay (those elbow joints fill me with dread), but it's way bigger than what I'd like, and also the JFS figures are expensive. Which sucks too because this is the second Anne Lewis figure ever produced to my knowledge and the first one in like 30 years. I doubt it's a likeness issue with Nancy Allen given how much she still loves the character, I guess companies just aren't interested in making figures of her.
Need more color change figures in the line
>>11780954I mean NECA did Murphy in his cop gear, so I figured they would’ve made her shortly after, but NOPE. Tons of missed opportunities. That figure in your pic looks good though, will it scale with the NECA Murphy?
>>11780957Why are the joints black? Kinda ruins the illusion.
>>11780792Feels like the aliens would always be disadvantaged versus terminators.
>>11780980I think it sort of balances out. They both have the numbers. Both are strong, Terminator can probably rip apart a xeno, but the acid blood would take them out, Xenos are faster, but their claws and teeth probably don't do that much. I suppose it comes down to whether a Xeno can rip off a Terminator's head. If the Xeno has acid spit that would be a big help too.
>>11780970Because that's the normal color.
>>11780907Yeah you nailed it. For as much as I like toybiz legends and early DCUC stuff I'm still not sure if it was a worthwhile trade off.
>>11780907I was in high school during this time so I wasn't collecting but I still played with stuff if I visited family or my friends had younger siblings and I HATED the pre posed stuff. It just limits the story you can tell with the figure since it's stuck in one pose. It was an odd period since more niche stuff like independent comics started getting figures and the spawn stuff was hitting every gimmick possible before going into a very detailed styled figures. It's like a period of puberty for action figures.
They made NECA Dutch figures do you think there are any plans for Mike Harrigan?
Bumping with a rough first try at the Xenocorn idea
My Robos? Copped.My Aliens? Predatored.My Terms? Inated.Yep, it's /RAPT/ time.
Best thread in this god forsaken place.R8 or H8 my display. Also working on some Kenner Terminator.
>>11781405The lack of NECA figures is disappointing
>>11781405Fucking sweet! Looks awesome. What are those eggs on the bottom shelf? Were they like blindboxes?
>>11781405Needs some of the Micro Machines, otherwise it's looking real good.
>>11781405Awesome. You need the Resurrection Aqua Alien. It was my favorite figure in the line. You aren't missing much from the original Kenner line either. Are you planning on getting all the wave 4 and Hive Wars repaints?
>>11781406I have a couple of Neca figures, but they're not for me>>11781408Yes, they're the Mega Construx eggs. I was super into their Call of Duty line, but they did almost nothing with aliens (the queen, a marine and a bunch of xeno recolors)>>11781412I want them, but they're so expensive>>11781422I've been looking for one Aqua, but like the other anon said, I want to get it in person. After the Aqua I'll move into Hive Wars, they're sick. What about you anon, got anything?
>>11781405Top right Xeno looks like Joker
>>11781405Absolutely beautiful. Really my only gripe is how few Lanard xenos you have. Funnily enough I own the same 6" one though.
Might aswell share this guy. This pic is ancient now, probably 2018 at the latest
>>11781406Agreed
>>11781427>got anything?I've got the four Resurrection Xenos in a box somewhere. Still in the packets, but I've have opened them and repacked them. From the Kenner line, nothing but a Scorpion Alien. I made the mistake of letting my mother convince me to give my originals to my younger brother who was a fucking animal, and I don't think a single one remained intact except the Queen Facehugger and Flying Queen, which are probably still at her place with the remnants of what shithead destroyed. Except Scorpion Alien. He only lost the spike off his tail and I stole it back off him so he didn't destroy it further. I have a couple of the NECA tributes, but I missed the early ones like the Mantis so I looked at how much the original Kenner figures are, and I was surprised at how affordable most of them are, so I'm thinking of buying them again. The only issue is eBay postage is a nightmare these days, and I live in another country and in the boonies far away from the general populace and don't have collector stores where I will find these. If I can find a seller that does combined shipping and has a few that I'm after, I mighty go for it.
>>11780826My first xeno figure at age 6. I made him a good, intelligent alien that sided with the marines in my play sessions. I have a photogrammetry scan of a mint Kenner Gorilla figure I commissioned from someone years back and want to rework the parts to make it into a highly articulated non-gimmick figure.Sadly I’m still working on doing the very same thing with a 3D scan of the Scorpion xeno atm. So gotta finish scorpy first.
>>11781405Holly shit, is the Swarm Alien that big? I need to suck it up and buy one of the MISB ones on eBay
>>11781405This is really good. You know what would really spruce it up? If you can maybe get a really hi-res alien hive wallpaper printed on card stock and stick it on the back of each level. Give the figures a backdrop.
>>11781412>Needs some of the Micro Machines>>11781427>I want them, but they're so expensiveFucking this. I lucked out in that I had some from when I was a kid, and I managed to get a cheap APC and Queen to pair with my Aoshima Dropship, but I've always wanted to get the Predator and Terminator figures, I have only seen them going up in lots and people want hundreds of dollars for them, or I have seen one store that has a few loose in a bag and they want 90 bucks for the lot.I am so sick of everything "old" being expensive now.
>>11781412Funny that Micro Machines did Aliens, Predator and Terminator but never a Robocop one!
>>11781606
>>11781607
>>11781608
>>11781610But at least someone made a die-cast Robocop minifigure.
>>11780949How a bout instead of posting promo images you post some images of your personal neca collection. I mean you gotta have some since you love neca so much, right? You certainly won't as I've challenged you you to do this in other threads and you just prove what a troll you are but I'll try again. Post some pics of necas YOU own. I'll start yet again. Here is a neca rhino alien .... your turn
>>11781619Not NECA anon (thank fuck), but I love how context changes appearance, normally the alien having it's mouth open is like snarling or screeching, but in this picture all I can hear is "WOOOOOO!"
What did you all think of the 52toys yoshi alien? I thought the look was interesting but I was expecting a bit more on he articulation side. Trying to decide if I want to get the yoshi predator that should be coming out soon.>>11781623>but in this picture all I can hear is "WOOOOOO!"That's what I was going for. I had alot of fun with the monster arts chap. Still might be one of my top xenos
>>11781610Seeing the little T-800 on his bike reminded me of missing out on an ebay listing for pic related. It was just the rider figure but despite the cheap price tag I hesitated. I'm still kicking myself over it now. Considering all the success Kenner saw with their various friction powered motorbike Batmen, I dont know why they never made Robocop or Terminator versions. At the very least there's an official Robocop take on this toy. A souvenir for the now long defunct Robocop ride no less.
>>11781612>diecast vehicle with opening doors>it can actually seat a little guyWhy the hell isnt this more common?
>>11781619I love the colors on the rhino alien so much. He looks like a living bag of halloween candy.
>>11781619I had the Rhino Alien but his elbow developed a tear from posing, and trying to fix it with superglue didn't work (didn't freeze the joint actually, just didn't stop it from eventually ripping clean off). A shame as he looked awesome but making structural parts of the elbows out of soft plastic was a massive mistake. Also his dome would not stay on.
>>11781619You're such a bizarre troll, holy shit.
>>11781646You probably shouldn't have hamhanded the figure then dude. It didn't develop anything from posing it. That kind of stuff doesn't happen except by user error. And you are that error.
>>11781640I think most die-cast cars are smaller and opening doors make them too expensive.
>>11781690
Did this for drawAnon, something about the old west style just really did it for me. I tweaked a couple details for accuracy, I also added spurs because I thought it would be fun (also I love that the original film adds that footstep sound for Robo to evoke spurs). I went very deep blue and red visor for the main colours because Toy Island, but used brown two-tone on the legs to give the impression of chaps, I also went black for the cannon arm and added copper accents all over to bring in an old locomotive vibe.As always, hope you enjoy.
>>11780917Instead of a "no NECA discussion" rule, I'd prefer a "don't feed the troll" rule. Most NECA posters are being civil, and there is only one asshole trying to ruin the thread. I wouldn't want to miss out on gold like >>11781619 just because one shitheel has to ruin it for the rest of us.>>11781619>>11781623I immediately thought "YEEHAW! RIDE EM, COWBOY." If it had been the V2 repaint, I would have thought "Hi-yo Silver! AWAY!">>11781646Same happened to me, and I've read a few instances of the Rhino having that issue with the elbow. I'm not sure if the V2 uses soft plastic on the elbow. I found a local store that has it relatively cheap, so I might end up grabbing it.
>>11781705>and there is only one asshole trying to ruin the thread.Yeah, you. You literally started a fight and now you're trying to back out.
>>11781705>I've read a few instances of the Rhino having that issue with the elbow. You mean all the instances that you made up? Because sorry, but that isn't a thing.
>>11781705That's what I envisioned for the thread originally, but that asshole will not stop, the fact that NECA didn't even need to be brought up and he showed up saying that this thread basically shouldn't exist because NECA already makes figures of all these properties just so he could start his shit, it's just easier to just avoid it. Other modern companies do stuff, MAFEX, Revoltech, JFS, Trick or Treat studios, Hot Toys, whatever, we can discuss those, and I'm not gonna flip my shit if someone is like "hey does this figure scale with the NECA?" I get it, but I want this general to mainly be about enjoying the vintage or vintage style figures.Showing off collections or customs, swapping stories, talking about grails, stuff like that. I want the general to be fun and not have every third post be that asshole fucking with people and others not being able to resist feeding him because he won't shut up.
>>11781710Maybe you shouldn't have been such a disrespectful asshole from the start? Because you get what you deserve. And it's going to stay like this every thread from now until eternity.
>>11781720Trolling shill is trolling.
>>11781720There was no disrespect except from you. You went out of your way to come into MY thread and started your shit. You are a bane to this entire board. I will be making a no NECA discussion rule in writing for the next general and I am marking it as active from this point. There is to be no NECA discussion from this point on, specifically bringing up NECA is off-topic for this thread. It sucks for the other anons that would be chill, people would have been happy to talk about the NECA figures in a positive light, but you actively disrupt civil discussion with your trolling.
>>11781731Actually that was a rando you flipped your ahit about. Which shows what an inherent asshole you are. Anyway, yes there will be lots of NECA discussion going forward.
>>11781655And there it is, yet again. How does some one who champions neca so hard not have any? Is it money? I'd be willing to buy you a couple just so you can experience the brand you antagonize the rest of us white knighting for. What do you say, would you actually like to own at least a couple of toys? Maybe it'll make you a happier person.
>>11781759Is that the gitd neca xeno? Man I regret not getting him, but I was pretty broke when he came out. Still looks awesome.
>>11781764Yeeeah, it's still a great figure. They need to bring the AvP xeno back out again.
>>11781763Dude, seriously, don't engage. I've been down that road, it's not worth it. Just post a classic figure and chat with other non-insane anons.
Great thread. If it's cold out when your stuff gets delivered/bought, wait a few days to open it. Not even shitposting, account for torque and changes in temperature.
>>11781768Thats awesome. Maybe ill go hunt one down if the aftermarket isn't bad. I have most neca variants of xenos. They are kinda the only game in town unfortunately if you want anything other than the avp, big chap, or warrior variants. One of my favorites is the sewer mutation tmnt variant. I keep him next to my movie turtles.
>>11781772
>>11781771You're the one starting shit dude, how about you just...stop doing that?
>>11781773I guess you'd need to watch out for bootlegs, but no idea if they ever did one of the glowy figure. Just don't buy from China I guess.
>>11781779Good point, thanks. I recently had a friend by me a neca endoskeleton and it came in an clamshell, pretty sure it was an old bootleg since it was a pretty atrocious quality. Here I took a pic of a yoshi xeno petting a grabboid just for you.
>>11781698That's wonderful, I love it.
>>11780844>>11780843>>11780840these pictures remind me how toys are beautiful
>>11781698drawanon here, I adore it! Thank you for finishing the leg I inadvertently obscured too. The colors I had in mind were alot more off the wall as I'd envisioned him in the colors of an early steam locomotive. In anycase it's stellar, really you always breathe new life into my work. Thank you!
>>11781690That makes sense, alot of these sorts of toys always seem to be produced in small numbers too. There was a smilar Batman Beyond line which, just as rare too, that I'm equally obsessed with. Such a shame, if Jada could make these sorts of sets a reality I'd buy way more of their cars.
>>11781692These toy island vehicles are tempting the hell out of me now
>>11781763>>11781771Great pics from the both of you
>>11781436Thats cool. Looks like they had to mix him up with a Powelloader.>>11781341Really cool. But it is a fine line to look like a Xenorhino.
>>11781899Cant see that they make vehicles between the action figure and micromachines size.
>>11781903Fuck off retard, stop kissing your own ass.
>>11781924Borrowing an arm from the power loader was part of the plan! I'd read the Alien/Terminator/Predator crossover around that time and cooked that up after how underwhelmed I was by the comic itself.>But it is a fine line to look like a Xenorhino.I know what you mean, that's why I tried making the body and limbs alot spindlier in addition to elongating the jaw. >>11781927Well they release some vehicles with their diecast minis. However the minis dont pose, they just scale with the cars.
>>11780792.....honestly, it's crazy how well all those Toylines work with each other, but also crazy that those hard R movies full of violence, gore, sex and profanity got children's toys. The 90s man, they were a strange time to be alive.
>>11782229It was a better time across all metrics. We'll never see anything quite as cool.
>>11780792>Demolition ManMan, i'm really hoping Hiya toys releases demolition man figures, they're my only hope now since they have 80's and 90's film licenses.
>>11781517Yeah, the Swarm is pretty big. It's cool that it's 2 figures in one>>11781608>>11781610Damns these are soo cool
>>11782271The Mattel stuff really wasnt that bad for how slapdash it was. Last Action Hero definitely got the better part of that deal anyhow.
>>11781898>I'd envisioned him in the colors of an early steam locomotive. That's kind of what I was aiming for, because the gun arm reminded me of an old stove-pipe stack, and I wanted the copper/brass accents. I wanted to bring in the brown for the chaps on the legs and give sort of a Man With No Name vibe. I might go back in later and add in some more highlights, but I always keep in mind what the final manufactured look of these figures would be and I think they wouldn't spring for that many paint apps.
>>11782255It's wild that the toys often defaulted to Robo on a crotch rocket style bike when at that point the only canon instance of Robo on a bike was a cruiser style.I wouldn't be surprised if those toys were inspiration for the 2014 RoboBike.
>>11782271>Man, i'm really hoping Hiya toys releases demolition man figures,I'd be down for that. The only Hiya toys I own at this point are the first Alien Warrior they did toy tie in with Colonial Marines, which actually scales perfectly if you have the pre-order statue, and the smaller Judge Dredd figure. What are their RoboCop figures like? I worry that they'll feel flimsy.
>>11782399>and give sort of a Man With No Name vibe>but I always keep in mind what the final manufactured look of these figures would beOriginally I had some steampunky colorscheme in mind, predominantly copper with gold and red as secondary colors. Sticking to the blue was genius on your part, but I've figured out the only tweaks worth making. Color the armor on the shins red and make the cape olive green. Theoretically the push for more red paint apps wouldnt hamper the budget much since we'd already be using some on the visor and the cape wouldnt be much of a concern since I'd ideally want it to be soft goods anyways. The thighs meanwhile could be casted in brown plastic and their interiors painted blue. Plus the green would pop against the other colors.>>11782404I cant believe how infrequently they rely on that visual of Robo riding a roadhog. He beat Terminator to that punch, and yet none of the toylines made any use of it! They really should have paired Robo with the Skull Hog in the kenner line.
>>11782498I added the tweaks.
>>11782498>>11782665I also tried to go for the more steampunk style (I'm really not super familiar with genre), but I used the Kenner Nightfighter RoboCop to help figure out good placement of the copper highlights.
>>11782665>>11782667Excellent job with both of these, especially the copper version. Painting the sigments of the lower torso gold was genius.
