Next wave of reveals is today
>>
>>11822725
I doubt they reveal a lot. It will also be the shortest stream of the month.
>>
>>11822752
They said two preorders and some renders and name reveals.
It might be short because they won't be showing anything physically.
>>
>>11822752
>>11822759
I doubt that anyone will be impressed today.
>>
I’m guessing they’ll do the following:
Show Unboxed and in hand Dusty with Sandstorm and Avalanche Rescue worker.

Show Renders on Iceberg, Mistress Armada, Duke and Toxo-Viper for the final week.

Show silhouette of the new unrevealed character for the final week.
>>
>>11822782
apparently the final figure in the wave will be revealed today, unless industry boomers on hisstank were hyping it up last night for no reason
it's new, it's a villain, it might be a chick
>>
We still have one more retro wave figure to be revealed too

Are you guys new to collecting? Walmart is notorious as the worst place on earth for preorders. Their website is also totally fucked up. The inventory management system had me drive 35 miles for something and then let me know on the way home its in stock at about 5 closer locations.

>>
>>11823849
>Collecting is supposed to be depressurizing and enjoyable.
I wish this were more the reality for me. Finding a lot of it stressful, have to record the unboxings, worried about the ambient temperature being too hot for my figures, worrying about space etc. I find myself fretting so much about the health of my collection I think I'm too much of a bitch for toy collecting.

>>
>>11823895
>mags for the wrong guns
>rifles without proper sights
>weapons with incompatible attachments
>weapon scaling totally inconsistent
It’s pretty clear to me that the current team is extremely unfamiliar with firearms. If I was the team lead I would at least take everyone to a high-end shooting range that has exotic guns for rent. One day at the range and they would understand guns better than they currently do
>>
Oh yeah I almost forgot; the amount of rifles with no stock. It’s basically impossible to shoot a rifle effectively with no stock. They sort of rectified this with Crazyleg’s smg that finally has a folding stock. Collapsible stocks would be really easy for them to do as well.
>>
>>11823907
I know next to nothing about guns but if i worked for the gi joe team at hasbro i would make a point to get in contact with people who know about guns to make the toys more accurate
>>
>>11823895
That seems to be a plate carrier not an LBV, but yeah, you're not wrong. The Spec Ops soldier from the legacy line uses this carrier, but he at least has a magazine fed rifle.

It's really annoying. My other hobby is collecting and shooting guns and holy shit, the inaccuracies a lot of these toy companies pull just drives me nuts.

>>11823855
It seems to me like 10% of Walmarts got them, and the ones that did got a shitload of them. I personally feel like it was intentional. They priced it well above the normal price of a fat-packed Joe at the time ($60 instead of $40), they knew they had a cool figure people would want but there's the price. I remember someone posting a pic of one in-store at $60 next to a Desert Scorpion normally-priced at $40.

I think they created false scarcity to work the buyers into such a frenzy that we'd forget the price. And it worked.
>>
>>11823919
If these fuckers show up at DDs like the MOTU Walmart only exclusive. I'm gonna be a happy little boy. Never saw them at the two WM that had the collector Island setup. Saw everything else stocked. There wasn't even a label for it.
>>
>>11823924
They sold out fast, and that damned us because the frenzied fans who gladly overpaid gave Hasbro the confidence it was seeking to justify bidding up the prices. So we started this year with everything except the basic figures costing $10 more than they did last year.
>>
Prices will continue to rise as long as you paypiggies keep buying
>>
>>11823917
Ok so they built the MASS device but still haven’t figured out that you must have both front and rear sights on a rifle

Why'd they make this thing so fucking big
>>
>>11823940
Hello my fellow /k/ommando. Yeah, as much as I love the line for scratching that military itch for me, it is really obnoxious how they can't get any guns even remotely close to correct. They can't even be bothered to watch a simple YouTube video. It's not like this issue is exclusive to Hasbro, most other companies can't do it. Mezco was one that was pretty good since they had working slides and actions and such, and maybe Valaverse, but I'm struggling to think of any other company outside of specialty stuff like Little Armory that actually gets firearms right.
>>
>>11823908
>Collapsible stocks would be really easy for them to do as well.
That's another peeve of mine. Non-extended stocks. In Hasbro's defense, they aren't the only one guilty of it. Damn 3rd party had to give us an Uzi with the stock extended.
>>
>>11823940
>>11823952
Not a /k/ guy but ive heard a theory that companies like hasbro make the guns purposefully weird to avoid paying license fees to IRL gun companies

NTA but I could believe that. Though I'm not massively familiar with guns (I like them and think they're cool, but I'm by no means an expert) and honestly most of the "errors" with the Classified guns go over my head.
That said I think you could be onto something- they clearly know enough about guns to make some fairly deep cuts (this one is IIRC based on a Kriss Vector) so I wouldn't be surprised if the mistakes are to keep gun companies off their backs.
If you think Joe guns are bad though just wait until you see what Transfags have to put up with for jet modes. Blitzwing from the Bumblebee movie turned into a Phantom but his toy didn't even look like a stylized one.
>>
waiting a couple of days was the right call. The dire creeper is back in stock, so I went back to my stalled order, clicked issues with my delivery and it gave me the choice to have another one shipped free of charge.
>>
>>11823936
Prices are going to continue to ride regardless if people keep paying for things or not. Literally everything is skyrocketing in price. It's not excluive to toys. Why are some of you so fucking ignorant of the rest of the world?
>>
>>11824022

>>11824084

>>
>>11824086
Not him, but they're not even trying to bring prices down. They cut corners to lower costs like re-using body parts and accessories, but they don't pass that lower price onto customers. Instead they keep prices edging up. And it's getting to the point to where they're pricing customers out of the market.

Prices come down quickly when the money's not there. They don't go in the opposite direction. That defies economic logic. Prices get bid up through the increase in able-demand (meaning demand that people have the cash to spend on). Throw in Hasbro increasing the number of Classified releases for the past 3 years. They're raising prices just because they can.
>>
>>11824106
No shit. No one in any industry is trying to bring prices down. That's why I said that prices are going to keep gong up regardless if people keep paying the price. It's genuinely kind of concerning how so many of you think this is isolated to toys.

Look at the stance and proportions on the old one. Everything about it is better. Everything is wrong with the new one. Are you a zoomer or a zoomer?
Fucking collecting has been a hassle since collecting started.

Always rushing around, visiting multiple locations, coming home empty, and looking for tips from other collectors.
It's like hunting for wooly mammoths but for neckbeards.

You fucking zoomers know shit about collecting and are super fucking entitled

I bet you've never even gotten a limited collector figure from a convention where you spent hundreds of dollars just to get a chance to wait in line 2 hours to buy the alloted amount of figures available for that day.

You zoomie shut ins make me sick.

The now fired head guy for GI Joe used to make Transformers and there were females in their team.

so of course they 're unfamiliar, hence filling the line up with dumb ghosts, psychics, monsters, and dinosaurs. Nevermind those dumb early line Classified figures that few people even liked. IT's all WACKY shit by a Transfag.

The older lines had former military and military enthusiasts, so we had amazing toys based on gun porn movies.
>>
>>11823965
I figured this would be common knowledge, can't just one for one copy a gun directly, those things got patents and protections all over the place.

Personally, I would prefer it more if they started leaning back into the original ARAH aesthetic of guns where they were real inspired, but very clearly fake and original. The classic Viper heavy rifle is easily one of my favorite guns in all of fiction, and it still bothers me we haven't seen it get a proper update in Classified. We got the original Joe Laser Rifle, and even the Cobra Grease Gun....though that one is woefully undersized, but stuff like that is what I want to see more of. Iceberg having a standard looking marksman rifle instead of his kick ass Laser LMG is a big loss imo. But at least Toxo-Viper has his weird spray gun thingie.

>>11824142
Guy, the idea that prices will ever come down is a fallacy only idiots believe. Once inflation hits, it never goes back down because the people who profit off it don't want it to go back down. Inflation is a part of life every civilization has been dealing with since the dawn of currency and trading, thirty years ago I could get two slices and a soda for $3 at any local pizza place, now $3 don't even get you a single slice. Sixty years ago my father was paying pennies for his pizza.

Prices go up all the time, but they never come back down.

Wal-Mart has always had shitty distribution, this isn't new, this isn't because of AI, this is because Wal-Mart does not care. Toys are not a priority to them and they only order exclusives to screw over competition, not to actually make money on em. Toys are like milk to these big box stores, a loss leader in profits, but something they feel they need just to get parents in the door.

I'm so glad I don't have to do any of that crap anymore, these days if I want a figure I just press a button and wait. I do miss physical toy stores though, and it was always fun finding a rare toy for a good price at a con. But these days I just buy stuff like shirts and pins at any cons I go to and any collector oriented toy stores that actually still stand are over-priced and under stocked on anything worth buying.

there's a reason why Hasbro did a 180° with the Classified line, while most gun people love the shit out the Aliens movie, dude.

The Pulse rifle looks like something that could exist, hence still being known by gun nuts nearly 40 years later and replicated a billion time overs
Whereas the original Classified designs are best forgotten about. HAsbro had to quickly change course with what the Classified was and their Transfag designers can only copy the stale 80s and 90s designs to remain relevant. You know, those 80s and 90s designs when actual military people were involved with GI Joe, except they kinda flub it up, since transfag and DEI hires are in charge now.

>they only order exclusives to screw over competition
No, exclusives exist because Hasbro needs a store to order more of their product, thus promises to make an exclusive to drive up store visits.
In some cases, those exclusives were products no one else wanted the product.

So anytime you see a Pulse exclusive, it's because 1. it's a marketing tool. 2. because no other store was going to carry it.

Think about it, why sell something exclusively at Walmart or the Pulse store where they're only going to carry ~30k-100k of the product, when they could have sold 200k-800k by selling it to Walgreens, Walmart, Pulse, Target, Gamestop, BBTS , EE, TRU, and many indie stores at the same time?
They're making far less money and pissing off people like you.

It's a desperate business tactic.

Stores order Exclusives. They want an item no other store has to get people in THEIR door. Yes, Pulse Exclusives are items that won't be carried in retail stores, since Retail Stores don't want niche, oversized or expensively priced items. They want everything to be as compact as possible and preferably cheap but highly recognizable or desirable. They don't care about niche fan favorites, they don't want to carry large, high priced vehicles, they don't even want to carry toys at all. When TRU folded *every* big box store gutted their toy sections, almost overnight.

Clothes make far more profits in those stores, which is why clothing sections take up the most space. Toys are there so Mom has less reason to go elsewhere and can do all her shopping in one spot. Having an exclusive figure just makes it more enticing for little jimmy who thinks it's some sort of rare special find. Or more specifically nowadays, to get dumbass "chase" fags like >11823849 in the door.

This shit is. Not. New. This is how retail stores have run since the god damn forties.

>This shit is. Not. New. This is how retail stores have run since the god damn forties.
So why even bitch about it then? The toys you want WOULDN'T EXIST if they weren't exclusives.
The toys you want would be ordered in fewer numbers if the stores weren't given exclusives to make them order more products, so it'd be even harder to find COMMON toys at Walmart/Target/etc.

What do you guys think about the future of Classified? I was watching a collector group stream last night and they pointed out how few accessories most of the recent reveals are coming with, compared to the previous expected standard of classifieds, like Duke vs his retro one for example. I did personally jotice a general lack of hands across the reveals. Is the Marvel Legend mentality hitting G.I. Joe now? I have only relatively recently started looking at classifieds properly, but they always felt like the one line Hasbro could be commended for, has the death knell to that been sounded?
>>
>>11824849
Very few Classified figures ever came with extra hands, outside of Deluxe figures and retros. And the figures don't feel like they're coming with any less now than they ever did. There were many figures, even early on, that only came with maybe three or four accessories. Classified gets lauded because whether they came with three accessories or eight accessories, they can almost always store them all somewhere on their person.

15k? 40k?

The price of chicken rose because of "totally natural" bird flu outbreaks that forced the culling of millions of chickens paired with the democrats importing millions more mouths to feed. Throw in workers demanding $20/hour to work fast food. Nuggets would still be cheap if it weren't for that. Toy makers aren't dealing with that problem. The problem is kids aren't buying toys because they want electronic cocaine in the form of smartphones and game consoles, so more adults than kids are buying toys now. So producers are selling at adult collector prices. But it's easier for you to shit on someone than it is for you to use your fucking brain and see we're paying premiums for the lack of kids in the market.

Hasbro used to be more transparent about their sales, so it's pretty easy to break down the maximum/minimum amount of figures they'd sell for their major toylines, since they also do quarterly reports.
They also used to tell us how many exclusives were made before too.

They only started to hide numbers after sales went south, being more vague by just saying percentages instead of any hard numbers.

So have pic of how Hasbro used to be be awesome, but for TFs. Since i didn't know that the internet was dying and the vast majority of websites would disappear, i didn't know i needed to save every single image/screenshot on every new computer i bought, because newfags like yourself won't know what used to be common knowledge that could easily be googled back in the day.

NECA, Kaiyodo, Diamond, DC Direct, and other collector companies have also reported their numbers from time to time too, and since these are some of the biggest collector companies in the market, it points toward the higher amount of toys a collector line sells (50-80k).
>>
>>11825273
Transformers still sell very well, it's their leading brand financially, and yet the specific numbers are not reported
it's not a matter of them wanting to hide poor revenue

Non-front line characters like the techno and toxo vipers can be whatever color. They make sense, because that happens in the real world. On naval ships, technicians wear greens, blues, yellows, oranges, and who knows what else.
The old GI Joe designers knew this, because they were ex-military or military fans (unlike classified's DEI hires and transfags), hence the designs being so well loved to this day.

Personally, I don't think it has to be always be realistic
All sorts of colors can exist, as long as it makes sense.
So Alley Vipers being neon orange is fine, because they're shock troopers who use shields. They're going to be out in the open and aren't really trying to hide themselves. So it doesn't matter what color they are and the camouflaging actually helps obfuscate their numbers, so they blend in as a giant mass of swirling colors. When rioters are looking at them coming from down the street, they just see a wall of orange and blue.
In nature, they'd be danger colors.
Of course, lots of people hate the neon shit and I'm fine with the other colors too. I don't get mad that people dislike something i like.

Currently eyeballing semiquincentennial Duke and Tiger Force Snake Eyes. I want them bad but that price tag is just such a kick in the balls. The only S7 o-ring fig I have is Karza and that's because I snagged him for 14 bucks during some amazon sale.
>>
>>11825276
Transformers sells well, but they still hid their numbers and that's why we haven't seen detailed numbers for over a decade now.

Read what's going on in that image and understand how they're doing damage control for their shareholders. Because revenue didn't increase infinitely, because their properties and ilcenses weren't as succesful anymore, they stopped being that transparent.

And yes, shit like Star Wars and Marvel did grow bigger, but think of how weird it looks that they gave harder numbers for those franchises but not GI Joe and Transformers. Hence harder numbers disappearing altogether.

You see the same shit with Microsoft, Apple, and other major companies.
>>

i’ll dig a bit deeper, some people on reddit said it could be a swap, and that’s likely, I inherited stuff that’s mixed with valaverse, legends, classified and even some old ass Halo stuff… and the person i inherited from liked to Kitbash…

It’s obviously classified. It’s exactly the same as the other one. This gun has come with multiple different figures and I’m annoyed none of us can figure it out

Yes that’s correct I was just about to say this. You can tell by the green carry handle on the LMG
>>
>>11826196
Kinda funny, because I could have sworn I've seen and even have those guns in that color (and I have this figure) but what was tripping me up was the red parts and could not figure out who came with weapons like that...

Airtight was a childhood favorite of mine. He was like Lifeline, not bound by any dorky persona from the lore. He was a hazardous environment commando. It never made sense that his mask and his weapon both connect to his backpack and it still dosent. That dumb sniffer device went straight in the parts bin to never get touched again.

Pros:
>Looks awesome, I love his helmet and his chest computer
>Great articulation, hindered only slightly by his diaper crotch
Cons:
>His helmet fits poorly. Gotta do the headband trick
>The hoses pop out of his helmet way too easy, not as easy as Mole Rat though
>They printed the gauge on his abdomen off-center and it’s driving my ocd ballistic

I like to team him up with BBQ, Charbroil and Blowtorch to make an all around Hazmat team. Though why the Joes need not one, but two flamethrower specialists (well three if you count Ice Cream Soldier) never made much sense to me. But all the guys in various types of Hazmat suits all seem to fit together for taking care of areas too dangerous for troops to go into without protective gear.
>>

Dangit. You had to bring him up. I was going to get him today and I forgot about him and grabbed someone else instead. I’m going to try to go back and get him tomorrow
>>

thanks everyone who responded, whoever said the infantry figures had the same weapons was dead on, i found them in the pile of accessories and also found one of the rifles that’s supposed to go to Big Ben, so that’s a plus.
>>
>>11822973
I think I need to get this. Soley based on the fact that my own personal gear setup is almost exactly the same as Dukes here. My plate carrier is similar, although my belt is setup kinda different. I even have a Coyote colored combat shirt and drab green tactical pants like he has. Give me a few hours after I get home and I'll post a pic of it.
>>
>>11826244
The Mega Marine member Blast-Off is also flamethrower specialist too.
>>
>>11826255
Forgot about him, though honestly I always thought he was some sort of space pilot going by the name. Only had Gung Ho and Clutch as a kid, so never got to read his bio.

Under-rated subline though, wouldn't mind seeing figures from it come back in some sort of special box set or exclusive release.
>>
>>11826258
Or how about just the mainline ?
>>
>>11826260
It's such a niche subline that came out at the end of the ARAH's life cycle that I don't really see it being any kind of mainline priority. I would instantly pick up a Mega Marines Gung Ho if they made him though, but much like the Fatal Fluffy I can't see the Mega Monsters being general releases.
>>
>>11826299
What makes you think that they won’t eventually redo every single ARAH figure ever? They are steadily going down the line chronologically, cherry-picking of course, but we have already fully breached 1992. Another thing is Fatal Fluffy is probably testing the waters for future releases.
>>
>>11826309
Never said they wouldn't, just said they're not exactly high priority in demand fan favorites. If the Fatal Fluffies can't make it to the main line, what chance to the Mega Monsters have?

Threw in Grim Viper to keep it toy related. Plate carriers are similar, main difference with mine is I have a dangler IFAK. Upon closer inspection he actually has the exact same belt I do, the HSGI Suregrip slotted belt, you can tell it's the slotted version since it has the laser cut MOLLE webbing. I just have more shit loaded on mine. And then I rock a helmet and a headset for earpro/comms. Helmet is only a bump helmet though, I wish I could justify an actual armored Ops Core but fuck I have $800 to blow on one. I'm saving up for NODs anyway.

And before someone accuses airsoft, you can see the actual bullets in the rifle mag.
>>
>>11826309
>>11826315
Mega Marines is a pretty deep cut, but I'd get them. I remember at least having Gung-Ho, Blastoff, Mirage, and the Mega-Viper. I never thought Classified would go deep enough that we'd be getting a pretty filled out roster of Ninja Force, but here we are. I think I only checked out with GI Joe once they hit Star Brigade, but I'd still get some of them. I had SB Sci-Fi, Payload, and TARGAT, so I would get classified versions of them for sure.
>>
>>11826349
Star Brigade Sci-Fi became one of my main hero Joes in my collection. Mostly based on the badass wrist mounted mini-gun and kick ass helmet. He was totally partly a cyborg in my collection with his false arm. The V2 Sci-Fi was also a favorite of mine, so the V4 was just him getting upgraded to fight in space battles against aliens and mutants and monsters.

And I remember being disappointed in the gold and purple TARGAT as he didn't have the cool jetpack the original came with. Still a cool figure though, but the original was so nice I had him as one of my Cobra leaders.
>>
>>11826358
Yeah, the first TARGAT was way better. Guess I just want him at all, but I do hope they make that first one at least. If they go deep enough to do the SB version I'd get it, but I did have both versions as a kid.

I always thought that Sci-Fi was awesome too. He was definitely a highlight of a lot of the later sublines.
>>
>>11826342
Nice setup
>>11826349
>Mega Marines
>Star Brigade
I sort of thought they were the same thing. I’ll take both. Give me them all. If I was calling the shots I would split ARAH in to 4 to 6 eras and give us one of each per wave.

I like his hair/hat swap gimmick because they both stay on good. My favorite part about him is his new plate carrier. I would love to see more good ones like this. It fits him loosely which helps with articulation. I also like his wrist computer.
Nitpicks are his knife gets in the way and he has shotgun shells on his wrist but does not include a shotgun.

Interesting little thing; His vest looks easy to reuse in the future except he has sugar skulls on there. Also, they have molded detail but it’s just barely even there at all. I’m wondering if it was intended to be this faint because it’s barely there. Interestingly they put a tiny bit of black wash on the torquise bits, something we almost never see. I’m having fun with this dude, I’m already hearing a No Country for Old Men voice out of him. And he has a pet!

MSF, FOX, and Outer Heaven. I don't throw them on my actual uniform though since they're not real units. Shoulder patches are for unit designation, patches on your carrier are just for funsies.

We really need MGS figures in the Classified lii.
>>
>>11826628
they need to make a game about Snake Eyes that plays like MGS
>>
>>11826676
They should hav done that 30 years ago in the middle of MGS/Syphon Filter/Splinter Cell and all the other paramilitary games. Now it would cost them around $200 million and take up to a decade to make a story-driven tactical military game.
>>
>>11826731
I think they could've still done it like 10 years after MGSV came out and the series died

For the time this fig was decent. The over designed movie sculpt and lack of a boot cut and the hindering hip overlay, this fig suck by today's standard. It needs a more retro update using the newer parts. Maybe as a mainline I guess. Depends on if Target wanted it for their exclusives though.
>>
>>11827073
I don't disagree that he needs a redo, I just don't think he'll get one quite yet (if ever). We still need Snake Eyes (I know he is supposedly coming) Banzai, Bushido, and SS will need to be heavily reworked, and there are still easy recolors Hasbro can do if they really want to go super deep into Ninja Force (like the orange version of Slice, and the "red ninja" repaint of Dice, among others).

I definitely want to see that Storm Shadow get redone. He was done so long ago that they didn't even really signify him as even being from Ninja Force, like they do with all the recent figures.

First impression of Overkill is not good, at all. I was pretty excited for this guy and I am let down. His proportions are all fucked up. His legs are huge and his head is tiny. He only looks even more pinheaded if you remove his mask. His mask itself is awful. It has absolutely no attachment point(s). It’s expected to stay on by friction alone in an extremely shallow recess. Well, it dosent stay on for shit, it goes flying at the slightest touch. Finally his articulation is ass. His ab crunch is pitiful and his up down head movement is nonexistent. I can fix the articulation problems with some hot water and a knife but there is no saving how tiny his head is.

Here is a less flattering angle of him to better illustrate his tiny head. Although, I guess It’s a good thing, I don’t feel like it’s coming across in photos as harshly as it is in hand. Compared to Airtights helmet you can see his head starts looking like a peanut.

Unsolicited Overkill headcannon:
Overkill was the culmination of several of Cobra’s darkest, most inhumane secret programs. The combined technology of the Nanomite, Compund Z, and B.A.T. programs, designed to be the ultimate battlefield commander. Unfortunately he went rouge instantly upon full activation and is now an existential threat to Cobra and the entire world. (I love Cobra in-fighting). He can take control of any Cobra vehicle by looking at it and he is currently trying to gain control of all the BATs and hack the planet.
