MASS Device Breaker and Big Ben are nice, IMO. Outback is really nice, but I vastly prefer the Tiger Force grizzled old man version over the regular release.

Tomax and Xamot are perpetually like 50% off everywhere, so there is really no reason not to get them. Most of the other Dreadnoks are pretty nice, and most of the rest of the Viper types (Ally Vipers, Night Vipers, SAW, Range FRAG, etc). You also need some BATs.

I actually don’t believe this is a vintage drawing. Supposedly this team / story pre-dates GIJOE. Maybe it partially does but I don’t fully buy it. This drawing looks modern, faked to look old and rough. Hamma is a leftist and they’re all sheisters. He wants to double dip on creation at best.
>>
>>11833381
Hasbro did create the ARAH Joes around Hama's work, though. Hama wanted his own version of Nick Fury's team in Marvel Comics, Hasbro wanted a line that could compete against Star Wars and He-Man, and both crossed paths to produce something that's still awesome today. That's long-established. Whether or not we can authenticate the art as being from then, well all we have is Larry Hama's word.

Hasbro didn't know anything about Hama's rejected Fury Force pitch to Marvel Comics pitch, they didn't base 1980s GI Joe on Fury Force, and they came to Marvel with the 1982 Joe toys already designed, at least in prototype form, and Hama wasn't even in the room when they met with Jim Shooter, Archie Goodwin and some other Marvel guys. By his own admission, Hama got the GI Joe comic job after everyone else who'd been asked had already turned it down, and it's at that point where where he recycled some of his Fury Force ideas into characterization for some of the original Joes.

Somehow over the years the story has been mutated into the 1980s GI Joe toys being explicitly developed out of Hama's Fury Force pitch, by the same type of people who actually think Hama was the one creating and designing all the new characters that became new toys every year.

Sorry for the shitty close-up, and no this isn't AI upscaled, I just tried to right click and crop the area I had no clue what it was.

It looks like those tiny guns are in the holster, so I supposed it looks I'm getting those, but I don't see those things that look like bathroom toilet plungers.

But yeah, the guns I found on-line that come in the loose figures look tiny as F.

I won a fodder lot months ago that included a bunch of weapons with the heads I wanted, so I might see about subbing some of those guns out, but I'll probably still try to sell off at least three of those 5.

But first want to see if a Legends/Joe replacement head works on these, before I feel I need to get rid of them. Or maybe some helmets?

Woketards have been around for a very long time. It's just another case of "the villain is always White." Larry Hama is the same way with GI Joe. That's why 80s Cobra is entirely White except for the ninja, for which Hama has a change of heart to re-establish as a Joe. Of course it unintentionally backfired. The Joes have one iconic character while evil White Cobra has many.
>>
>>11834402
I got several of these as henchmen for Firefly since their colors match so closely. Unfortunately I’ve really fallen out of love with them because their proportions really are too cartoonish to fit in with classified. They do have pretty good articulation though. >Larry Hama is the same way with GI Joe
don't be dumb.

Larry Hama had no say in what Cobra was, becasue 999999% of the characters were designed by HAsbro.
Outside of Cobra, Hama had no problem writing south Americans and eskimos being villains, but since 99% of conflicts were about Russia/Cold War shit back then, the non-Hasbro villains were still predominantly white.

I mean, would you really want GI Joe to intercede into shitty AFrican civil wars where they fought in Toyotas pick ups, which would be boring as fuck for advanced special ops groups like GI Joe?

If anything, Hasbro is actually racist since almost non of the command characters in GI Joe are people of color. Since the only characters in Cobra who aren't masked are command characters, Hasbro decided a black character isn't worthy of being a leader. You could always have pretended any of the Cobra grunts were brown or black. Personally, i never did, but that's just me being racist because i never think of race. I'm practically hitler.

Pic is one of the few Hama created characters that Hasbro made in 4 decades.

Yea, what happened to him is an absolute travesty and with it what happened to the community as well. It's obscene that anyone would do that with such a niche website and then let the entire reason they bought it go to waste as no longer updating it means it's far less useful as a resource database.

I like 3D Joes, but it's information is actually far more limited in it's scope, only really focusing on the original ARAH run and stopping around the late 90s runs. It's got great potential, but hasn't really been updated much either, though it is far more cumbersome to browse. As shitty as Yojoe is, it's still one of the best resources for the figures and vehicles from all of Joe history between 82 to 2017ish.
>>
>>11835900
YoJoe wasn't niche, and was the most widely-known ARAH site on the internet.
>>
>>11835845
I hate how people don't want to construct their own websites anymore.
Does anyone know how to make one anymore?

I understand people's attachments to old places, but we used to have a new website everyday it seemed. People used to do that shit for the love of their fandom too, so they didn't care if it made money or was costing them to run it. What happened? Did youtube make everyone into a lazy retard?

I think that admin should just abandon his want to continue on with yojoe.com and just make his own.

It's pretty sad that an abandoned website such as yojoe.com is still the most comprehensive website about GI Joe figures 10 years later after it stopped being updated.

>>11835734
4chan probably harvests more data on you than yojoe does. Almost all modern websites are built around that now. I hope you don't use youtube and never visit any of the major social media sites, because they're basically as intrusive as a crypto miner.
>>
>>11835975
Web hosting costs money and hosting a site with thousands of separate pictures costs a lot. This isn't Geocities anymore. You know, you could sack up and build and host the site yourself. But you're not going to do that, are you.
>>
>>11836000
like i said, back in the 90s, people were paying for their website out of pocket. I'm sure yojoe.com itself was one of those websites, because webhosting was super fucking expensive and they had next to no ads to pay the bills, muchless data harvesting. They didn't care if they didn't make a profit and would lose money everyday

Hell, when the dot come bubble burst in the early 00s, people were saying that subscriptions were the only way websites would survive because ad revenue dropped to next to zero again, yet dozens and even hundreds of websites still kept appearing without asking for money.

I wasn't even talking about geocities or any of the shitty free hosters, because you couldn't get anything comprehensive from them anyway. Hosting data was way too expensive to give even a hundred MB away for free until probably the late 00s, if not 10s.

So what happened that killed everyone's interest in making their own personal space for their fandom?

As for me making my own website, I'm not the one asking for nearly a hundred thousand dollars just to buy up an old site. If the old admin and other oldfags who ran the site still want to do shit, there's nothing stopping them from creating their own site for a lot cheaper. Nothing would stop the old owner from helping out either or anyone from the community.
>>
>>11835962

>It's pretty sad that an abandoned website such as yojoe.com is still the most comprehensive website about GI Joe figures 10 years later after it stopped being updated.

I can't imagine that'd be an easy choice to make considering how much absolute effort must have gone into making that site. It's awful what happened to him either way, but I doubt we'll ever see anything nearly as comprehensive like it ever again for ANY collector fandom. It's honestly kind of cruel of the new owners to treat it as they do knowing how many people in this fandom utilize the site yet knowing how little revenue it brings in overall. Why hold it so tightly if it's not making money and you have people willing to pay to take control of it back?
>>
>>11836195
It's tough, but it was never that admin's site. The owner wanted out or needed money, so he sold it.

The site itself apparently makes at least 30k a year, so just by existing it's making quite a bit of money.

Since the old admin still has ideas and wants to update it, he should just make his own site. Will it take time? Yeah, but the site itself was stuck in the 90s still. Tiny images that sorely needed replacing two decades ago.
And it's not like he's actually rebuilding it from scratch, given the fact that nearly everybody "borrows" from everybody's else sites

In a Fourth of July Eve miracle, my local Walmart Nart FINALLY fucking got in the motherfucking Darklon/Footloose/Blowtorch/Frag Viper wave, nearly a year and a half after it first came out!

My Walmart mother fucking skipped this wave when it first came out but somehow they got two cases in ages after the fact even thought they are drowning in a murderer's row of peg warmers: unsold black basketball Americans, zombie Hazmat goons with rocks coming out of their heads, worthless DEI affirmative action Guards women no one wanted or asked for, Cobra La Troopers no one asked for, and about 15 Dinosaur crap with mystery meat Donut Steel OC mad scientist no one wanted. Grabbed the last remaining Footloose Darklon and Blow Torch and a Frag Viper. They had a couple additional Frag Vipers but having to overdraft on my bank card as it was to get the four, I left the extra Frag Vipers there and hope they still have them when I come back when I get paid later this week...

>In a Fourth of July Eve miracle, my local Walmart Nart FINALLY fucking got in the motherfucking Darklon/Footloose/Blowtorch/Frag Viper wave
I very recently got in an argument with some stupid boomer who literally said the line is dead because this wave is on the shelves. I tried to explain to him that it is a fresh restock that will sell out in only a few days but he insisted they have been there for a year and will continue to sit there. I asked him for an update on the stock 3 days later and of course he did not reply
>>
I actually tracked those all down on the aftermarket only for them to appear at my Walmart like 2 days later. They sold out quickly and restocked again already. Both times I found them Darklon was already gone. I found that interesting. He’s the only one from the wave I haven’t opened yet.

i went to a walmart i hadn't gone to in over 4 years and didn't have any pegs for GI Joes.
I previously assumed they did, since its the biggest ones in my city.

So i don't think any walmart in my city carries GI Joes anymore. I know of two other walmarts in two seperate cities next to mine that carry it though... but i haven't been to those in months.
>>
>>11837881
My Targets never used to carry them, but lately they have had some retro cards (still Stalker in some cases), and 'older' like Flint, but I picked up the Crazy Legs maybe a month ago and it was still at that same store just this week?

They also have had boxes, some two packs and single box, but not much. I have ordered from Walmart without problems, unlike ordering McFarlane and having it repeatedly canceled and not delivered.
Then again, supposedly Walmart stores had that 250 Anniversary Duke at regular MSRP and I could not order it from the website, for delivery OR shipping, unless it was WAY marked up and from a third party scalper.
>>
>>11837781

I ended up with 30 plus backpacks in a fodder lot win.
But only 18 actual Joe's in the lot. Plus some of the packs don't actually match up with the Joe's - most of whom had mixed gears, or the wrong head, or something else (Flint with cap and main rifle on Outback torso with Flint lower body) to sell as complete.
Do these have any value to sell or dump say all the cobra packs in a lot and get rid of them?
New to Joe's, in case it's not obvious. I know some collectors care with some characters about stuff being complete for easy resale, like Batman without a grapple gun if it sold that way, or Cap without the shield.
But it feels like mix and matching is acceptable here? As long as it's not militarily stupid, like giving a shovel to a navy buck?
Thanks.
>>
>>11838223
9 times out of 10 I don't even display my figures with their backpacks on
They're usually solid plastic and aside from fucking up the balance, some are heavy enough to eventually start to warping a figures legs if they don't just make them fall over.
>>
This is all the weapons I got with this lot, for example. And I probably will only sell 2-5 of the bucks I got, the random single Cobra alley viper or single Python - who will likely need to go without most of the gear they ship with. I do have two other lots from the last six months of random weapons and some of them are even Hasbro/Legends weapons but some will be something else.

>>11838225
So your advice is dump them all? And thanks!
>>
>>11838229
>So your advice is dump them all? And thanks!

Once I have more time, I still plan to post those Fortnite and some of the other stuff I might not keep but those Metal Mouth figures in hand really don't feel bad. They just don't come with anything. I don't even think I have 5 fire arms that look like the one in the open factory package I took off an ebay listing here: >>11834402

I bought weapons in actually about four fodder lots, now that I checked, but only two of those lots has a good chunk of weapons.

But I don't want to eat up a lot of the weapons I got by kitting out figures I don't intend to keep and want to sell off to reimburse me for some of these expenses.

If someone gave me enough to clear, after ebay or Pay Pal G&S fees, $22-25 for those 5 Fortnite figures, I would probably be satisfied, without anything other than one gun per each. I need to actually figure out what this crap is worth, stripped. Anything more than giving one random gun on each Metal Mouth Royale hurts my head to think about.

>>
>>11838625
All the Iron Grenadiers save Voltar from their initial release wave were Cobra La troops that Hama convinced Hasbro to turn into a Destro faction instead.

Darklon became Destro's cousin who ran his own micro nation in Europe who joined the IGs. Hasbro wanted him to be Destro's second in command but Hana hated Darklon and wrote him as a glorified used car salesman who sold Cobra vehicle surplus to anyone with money, which later got turned into an excuse plot to introduce Python Patrol.

In his debut, the artist slipped in a scene where Darklon appeared unmasked and he's a white guy and clean shaven/no facial hair.

Fan theory is that Darklon wears contacts to look like a lizard man to look scary.

Hama stans hate the fucker and he didn't even get featured In the DIC episodes. But toy collectors love the fucker for looking cool and bad ass and the fact that rival in the faction, Voltar looks like a flaming faggot with his hot pink armor

You had to be a kid, living in the late 80s-early 90s TMNT hype to get it. It was everywhere. I had a girl classmate in third grade who was obsessed with Donatello. The arcades were insanely popular. The newer TMNT from 2003-onwards just didn't compare to the massive pop culture shift the original run had. It's why companies have been milking it for years now instead of using the newer TMNT stuff.

I would agree with you but they were missing gears. So personally, I could use 5 and had to treat the rest as fodders. Nowadays, if you are patient, you can get even new bucks for $3/4 in lots. Not Classifieds, mind you but I also don't mean junk.
I personally had no use for the rest and once I start paying more a few bucks each for the unwanted figures. At the moment, I have too much crap I should unload and didn't need to add to it. There's another lot I was looking at but everyone was fully kitted out, plus AND it had three vehicles. I still stopped bidding but it was less bodies and it just got too rich. It's over $100 now and still has a few days to go. I've seen auctions like that double so I am fine stepping away. I don't need to bid against myself.

It didn't so much bomb as it was absolutely killed off by parent's groups because this show was METAL. The monsters were the real stars and they did not hold back, body horror and gruesome deaths abound in that series and it was one of the darkest kids series the 80s ever put out(both literally and figuratively). It got yanked from TV because parents complained about the monsters and the violence in the cartoon before it could get a second season and introduce the next super giant monster in the series....the literal Devil.

Inhumanoids was very much an experiment and sacrificial lamb to see how far they could push toys and children's programming back in the day. The toys actually did really well compared to most toylines...but compared to the dual juggernauts of Transformers and G.I. Joe, Hasbro didn't feel like it was successful enough.

Also, the show is in canon with G.I. Joe.

>>11842617
>>11842811
The human figures were actually pretty terrible, but iirc they were originally planned to be organic mech suits with the figures inside being removable G.I. Joe sized figures. But the tight budget just lead them to be awkwardly proportioned suits with tiny heads.

>>11842912
I absolutely hate how they just fail so hard at reinventing this concept for modern times. Back then it was just kind of tongue in cheek references, but I would love to see this idea get the full on MCU effect....only in cartoons. I mean, they'd need to actually make good cartoons again and just doing that seems like an impossible feat these days. But just pump out a couple of cool cartoons and have them reference each other building up to a big old crossover or something.

You know the awkward proportions, along with how they scaled with the monsters, made it seem really obvious to me they were meant to be people in battle armor.

This feels like the kind of plastic paint wont stick to but a quick shitty brushing of silver makes this look a bit better
>>
>>11843367
If you used acrylic paint then don't stress it. Acrylic paint sticks well on plastics that enamel paint won't set in on at all.
>>
>>11843340
....perhaps I worded that poorly, but that is exactly what I meant.

These guys were supposed to be G.I. Joe scaled figures in suits, and while they still are technically, the final toy doesn't actually reflect that. So instead of feeling like a guy in a bio-mech suit, it feels like a tall guy with a tiny head. Wave two would've actually added human villains in similar "suits" and possibly even the actual G.I. Joe Ace in a jet themed suit where his legs were thrusters since an accident left him paralyzed from the waist down in the canon.

Sadly this franchise, like many other Hasbro properties from that time, are locked in Trademark hell since much like Transformers and Joes, a lot of the names and stories were created by Marvel just as much as they were Hasbro.

>>11843367
It's always nice to see a quick coat of paint to help the really nice sculpting hidden away on Hasbro figures. Their guys do some amazing sculpt work, but the figures always fall apart in the paint department.
>>
>>11843532
>So instead of feeling like a guy in a bio-mech suit, it feels like a tall guy with a tiny head.
I don't agree with that, I think only (not you) retards think this because they have to ignore everything else about the figure and the line to think this.

>It didn't so much bomb as it was absolutely killed off by parent's groups because this show was METAL
sounds like bullshit, because it would have definitely garnered media attention if it got canceled for that
The fact is that the 80s cartoons was totally controlled by parent groups (actually childless pre-DEI fucks), so anything the show was produced under their careful guidence.

The show ran its full course on TV, instead of being pulled. Biggest clue that there was no major controversy.

And the toyline was one of my first experiences with associating cheap toys on clearance with the subject itself not being popular.

So it very much bombed.

It's probably more of a case of Hasbro's contract with Sunbow ran its course, and it's time to replace it with DIC because afterwards was Operation Dragonfire followed up with 2 - 3 seasons of DIC GI Joe.

Odd request, but does anyone know if they used those retro-carded Gung-Ho hands anywhere else? I've got a figure that needs bare gripping hands, but normal hand options aren't doing it scale-wise. The 1st version Gung-Ho's hands fit the bill in regard to size but are gloved. Thanks.

>oh, did that sound like bullshit? Well, I'll change my story that it was actually their contracts running out with studios that got it canceled
why are bullshitters so stupidly bad at lying?

Nevermind Jem and Visionaries were still being doing by Hasbro and Sunbow for years after Inhumanoids got canned.

I think the only series that could coexist with GI Joe is COPS, because everything else is just too wacky and overpowered to actually fit in with GI Joe.
Shit like Transformers doesn't really mesh with GI Joe, because where's all the military shit going on when giant robots are constantly attacking humans and stealing their resources? There would be on going military operations everyday and topography changing explosions every month until either the Decepitcons were eradicated or humanity was completely enslaved.

With COPS, you're in the far future year of 2019, where crooks have cybernetically enhanced themselves to make theft easier and cops slowly adopt futuristic stuff that only military elite forces like GI Joe used to in the past. COPS and GI Joes wouldn't step on each other's toes by existing in the same universe and you wouldn't need to ignore that city sized monsters/robots could step in at any moment to be an instant win button for the good guys/bad guys.

Curious to see how they'll work with ME sized figures. But I'm sure they'll have a far more cartoony aesthetic then the 1:18 ME version already on the market.

>>11844518
Nobody changed their story, you're "quoting" two completely different people.

Also, again, the reason why Jem kept going, but Inhumaoids was cut was because the latter was pushing the boundaries of dark story telling and literal body horror on children's television. It was one of the first actual shows of the time to tell an actually narrative story that is continued between episodes and feature darker story overtones and on screen human deaths. The series itself was great, and the monster toys were awesome. But the dark subject matter and higher price point for said monsters both hurt it in the long (short) run. The toys did decent numbers, but couldn't even touch the top brands at the time so comparatively it was judged a failure.

Both Inhumanoids and Jem were popular enough to be moved from being Sunday Supershow shorts and turned into their own independent series. But Jem went on to become a cultural juggernaut to rival G.I. Joe and Trasnformers while Inhumanoids was a crazy experiment at making a horror series for kids.

.....and Visionaries came out a year after Inhumanoids, had the same amount of episodes, and the toyline lasted just as long with a single wave. Visionaries failed just as hard and fast as Inhumanoids, but it didn't have the dark story telling or larger scale figures as reasons for it's failure.

>>
>>11844996
I noticed it says Bigbadtoystore on the photo. Brian Flynn said it would be difficult to get a decent price for a vehicle when Hasbro can produce them in a high enough volume to charge a lower price. Flynn said if he could get an online retailer to commit to a high enough volume he could produce something at a better price a vehicle but it it still might be pricey and he would feel more comfortable doing small vehicles like the Trubble Bubble. Expect like $50 or more on the price tag. Hopefully it comes with the Cobra trooper from the picture and the flight stand. People will army build them if there’s a trooper.
>>
>>11844806
oh, so you're doubling down on the stupid lie?

Do you have any proof to prove it's not a stupid lie? What you type sounds like you're repeating some stupid youtuber who just say stupid shit without proof too.

>The toys did decent numbers
Also a stupid lie, because they don't cancel a toyline for doing decent numbers. Lots of mediocre toylines keep going if they're proven sellers, especially back in the 80s when there was a ton more room for toylines.
Toylines back then didn't need to have blockbuster sales, hence the much larger variety of toys we used to have available.

>>11844996
was there a mold made until recently? Because that's the entire point of a fundraiser like that, because molds are so expensive they can't do it without a fundraiser. Since that was such a small part, they only molded it until recently once they got enough interest or they thought it would sell at normal retail.

Also, it'll be bullshit if it can't fit normal sized 1:18 figures. The older GI Joe vehicles could fit 1:18 in all but a few vehicles.

>retro-carded Gung-Ho hands
>1st version Gung-Ho's hands fit size but are gloved
You know, I didn't realize how many characters wear gloves until I started looking because I have several entire baggies I have bought of what are supposed to be Classified hands that are flesh colored, just not even paired up, much less identified.
I guess they are probably like those deluxe packs that came with six hands and just a bunch of a handful of those got dumped in these baggies?

Anyways, what about the Quick Kick from the Night Force two pack? Both L+ R grips look similar, if not identical, even if the hands are possibility a tad bit smaller?
>>
>>11845201

>>

>>
>>11845493
>That's not Quick Kick. That's Billy from Predator.
I don't own it, I have a ton of hands but they are not identified, I haven't even taken the time to even pair shit up. I just did what I did to get some hands for Flint, match up the Hasbro Pulse and other promo shots for Gung Ho, with his arms and in particular his wrist and do a quick skim of hands or arms listed on ebay and then narrow it down some more.
Now, to be honest, I was bored and full and waiting to digest so I could lie down and relax with some comics or games or video or I wouldn't have spent the time on something not for me or some stranger.
And then I just picked a picture from an eBay sale that looked closes (IMHO) to the Retro GH.
It's the kinda shit I used to get paid for when I still did research and analysis. Now I just waste my time and money on toys.
>>
>>11844996
i don't get everyone's desire for that flight pod. They were readily available in the 25th line. It's not like they are hard to find or expensive. And they are better detailed too.

Since you say "would have" instead of just want, I assume you mean it has to be someone who was famous enough in the late 80s to warrant a Joe figure. I can't really think of anyone other than Michael Jackson.

There's plenty of good late-80s choices from Bruce Willis to Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Carl Weathers, and others.

Speaking of Deadpool, the shotgun with drum mag is from Juggernaut Wave Deadpool. The dark gray sci fi guns are cable. The brown shotgun is from a marvel legends guy I can’t remember his name. He’s silver and black with a mask. Pretty sure those are all ML weapons
