>>11922550Props like that sound like fertile ground for 3D printers
>>11922562Good bake
>>11922564I really wish I had bought the old iGear Ark playset.
>>11922562This is the only figure from today's listings that interests me, but it still looks like a sidegrade at best from the voyager. Think I'm going to skip him.
>>11922034Galvatron canon inflated in the show, so any size is possible.
$30 deluxes are rough, man . . .Makes me wonder is hasbro is treating Cyberworld as the "cheaper" scale since we don't get legends/cores anymore. I kind of wouldn't mind if they continued with these $20 prime changers as well.
>>11922589The cartoonline has been the cheaper alternative for over a decade now. Since RiD15 and they've been downgrading in quality ever since. Everything is getting more expensive its the hellscape we live in and while I hate that they're getting more expensive I'd rather prices go up then have something as cheap and bad feeling as the Combiner Wars and Thrilling 30-era toys felt.
>>11922558also, while they are trying their best these days, transformers still don't have a TON of articulation. It's rare that one can just sit in a chair, and if he can, it had better be exactly the right height. Hell, these days, a lot of transformers can sit on their own calves, they have such tiny short thin thighs and huge bulky calf kibble.. so like, beyond standing and using their arms, there's not a ton they can 'use'
>>11922564in theory.. but it's hard to make stuff at that size, and it'd cost a mint. and nobody but the richest can afford a room big enough to house a ship diorama like that. especially since it would surely be MP scale
>>11922597>these days, a lot of transformers can sit on their own calves, they have such tiny short thin thighs and huge bulky calf kibble"These days" he saysThat's been normal for years
>>11922605at least that guy has decently-sized thighs, and the knees aren't at the very front of the legs.but yes, it's been a problem as long as knees have existed. even in other mecha stuff.
>>11922597Transformers articulation is inconsistent since its so dependent on their engineering and sometimes we don't get wrists because budget had to go elsewhere. Or there's no waist swivel since it would impact the figure's structural integrity.
>>11922609indeed.also good LORD >>11922605 those are some tiny hands. Even that OSKO Bluebolts is like 'jesus, get bigger hands'
>>11922597>tiny short thin thighs and huge bulky calf kibbleThat's kinda how japanese transforming robot toys have always been. The ones from Takara, at least. Short thighs, giant shines/calves.
>>11922619Well he compensates with big gunsBut yeah, not exactly 5mm>>11922621Hey I got both of those preordered
>>11922570It's a big fat wait-and-see for me.
>>11922629looks like a 20 dollar figure
>>11922621SORT OF. but not typically the idiot-y way they do it now. For one thing, the torsos were usually smaller so it fits. for another, the thigh joints usually went up UNDER the skirt armor, not just starting at that point.. you can see how these robots could.. well, not sit, but at least get into a power stance.
>>11922619>>11922624
>>11922631as usual
>Got my Mirage, Bluestreak, Ironhide 3-pack>Ironhide has a big white stressmark front and center next to the Autobot symbol and other unsightly scratches on the chest>Bluestreak is already split apart at the waist before removing him from the ties and has a really noticeable scratch on the bumper>Mirage looks fineI don't know whether to be aggravated at the consistently horrible QC from Hasbro or feel like I won the lottery that one of my figures in a 3-pack was actually acceptable.
>>11922629I've always hated the color breakup of most Bayverse designs and this really reminds me of why. Its just a hunk of silver with little drops of red and dull gold. None of the details pop, everything blends together. It looks like a fine overall figure but its drab. The Autobots aren't as bad but the Decepticons are bad. Most of them are just hunks of silver. It makes for a boring toy.
Has it ever been discussed why Hasbro chose to make two decos of the shitty Diaclone van mold for the first year of Transformers? There were still figures from a variety of lines they could have released before them. It was an odd choice to do these two instead of releasing the Firetruck mold in year one or doing a second figure from the Sunstreaker mold.
>>11922671They wanted two big guys, and it went better than expected to be fair but that was mostly marvel and sunbrow’s writers carrying it
>>11922682I mean don't get me wrong I love Ratchet and Ironhide but it seems like an odd choice to prioritize those molds for the first year and to use it twice.
>>11922657yeahhh it works a lot better in the actual movies, where they tend to have a solid light-over-dark look. but in the toys... there's a reason the mainline releases added more color.>>11922687I have to think they knew there was all this anticipation 'how are they going to Missing Link the vanette guys?' and figured, get it out of the way.I also wonder if maybe they're no longer able to keep molds around for years and years like they used to. warehouses have gotta be skyrocketing in price.
>>11922693I'm not talking about Missing Link I mean back in 1984 where they chose the van mold over other options when it was easily the worst mold of the bunch. I wanted to know if anyone has ever talked about it in an interview.
>>11922703ohhhprobably because it was cheap. plus vanettes are cool, even if the robut isn't.
>>11922657The colors look better in hand, renders always look dull
>>11922687>>11922703The real answer is probably that the Vanette had already been released in Takara's American Diakron line so Hasbro probably saw it as an obvious release. Tie that to the idea of the good guys having a medic which would obviously be an ambulance and you have Ironhide and Ratchet
The Decepticons should have an ambulance too. There's a Decepticon medic who should turn into one but I don't recall his name now.
>>11922740Flatline?
>>11922740ENTER
>>11922743Yeah, that's the one! Idk what his official altmode is but an ambulance seems appropriate. Or a hearse I guess.
>>11922746I would not trust this guy to reassemble my circuits.
>>11922740A decepticon medic should transform into a sketchy conversion van with a filthy mattress in the back
>>11922757Great idea for a Scalpel remake
>>11922746G1 Oilslick also transformers into an ambulance though he's only repurposed character. I would really like a Decepticon medic who turns into a hearse.
>>11922757A Decepticon medic should turn into a trustworthy looking ambulance, and then when a wounded person gets put in, the bot transforms and mangles all occupants inside him
>>11922776>Barricade: "To punish and enslave">Smolder: shows up to house fires to spray more fuel on the fire>Flatline: Picks up wounded only to wound them moreI love this reverse-Protectobots theme
>>11922790So if you pick a random heli like Blackout and... Oil Slick maybe, you could make a whole team.
>>11922776>>11922790oh I guess you're rightbut a junkion medic..
>>11922790>reverse-ProtectobotsWhat if they also combined...
>>11922792>Blackout: locates disaster zones then shuts down power/comms to prevent rescuers from coordinating>Oil Slick: Shows up at the scene just to gas first-responders, he thinks it's funny every time>>11922794OFFENSOR
>>11922763I surprised Hasbro never tried a Preceptor repaint as Scalpel
>>11922796give this man a promotion!
>>11922797I suppose it'd just be a name-reuse at that point, kinda hard to translate the spidery bastard into a regular-shaped guy.
>>11922797>>11922801It'd be a good name re-use.
>>11922801He would be white with a different head, and Hasbro would call it a day
>>11922621Duke Fire and Fire Convoy have a lot in common
>>11922802Agreed, I keep waiting for them to recycle it since it's such a good "bad guy medic" name but they refuse to. Maybe Paramount owns it or something idk.>>11922805I'd settle for a Ratchet retool, haven't they done something like that before? I swear there's been an Evil Ratchet already.
>>11922810That's what Oilslick is. He's Ratchet with an eyepatch in his movie colors. Also Go Hunters Ratchet was a Decpticon version of the character and that figure was the other inspiration for Oilslick.
>>11922810There was Shattered Glass Ratchet
>>11922811Yeah that's the one I was thinking of, though pic related is my preferred Oilslick.>>11922814He is THE Evil Ratchet
>>11922796... make more Tad Danger
>>11922817I prefer him too. I love that guy and I think he should have gotten a legacy figure in the Toxitron subline. He's not G2 but he and Toxitron would go so well together. I really do like the Go Hunters Ratchet design though and I like the concept of G1 Oilslick. I just wish he had another name.
>>11922740Smolder from PCC is kind of an ambulance. He's meant to be a first responder or fire utility vehicle, but he's clearly an ambulance and was recolored into one.
>>11922740It is really funny that the three top Decepticon medics are a construction worker, a cat, and a guy whose name means “to die”
>>11922842What about Knockout? He's probably the most famous Decepticon medic. Hook is more iconic but he's not well known as an individual.
>>11922845It’s probably not a coincidence that Knock Out is also the only one of them to switch sides
>>11922837that is such a creative way to almost make a good combiner torso
>Please refer to this building logic for all figures. No, fuck you Blockees, give me an instruction booklet that shows the pieces for the figure I actually bought and not the figure I could have gotten but didn’t!
>>11922562You know, if you gave him a visor, change his colors, and made the sword clear...
>>11922850I ordered some random single packs and pulled the Super Megatron Plus and Shiny BW Megs from them.Gotta say I don't get Wheels though, Astrotrain is cool and Tracks is a car but uh. Might grab Motormaster to serve as a base.
>>11922629I can forgive the backpack. I cannot forgive those fugly gaps near his shoulders however.
>>11922849"creative and ALMOST good" is power core combiners in a nutshell
>>11922747The hearse is a much better an much more creative choice and fits the decepticons far more.
>>11922693The one thing I don't like about Missing Link is the lack of pilots. If they can bring back scrapped diaclone elements like with Ultra Magnus they should at least have pilots like the original diaclone figures did
>>11922840At that price it better give amazing hanjobs.
>>11922562WOW these bayformers look ugly as sin!
>>11922916Missing Link has been coming with pilots though?
>>11922926Sin is cool.
>>11922944They are the same ugly metal smashed together, every single one of them!Who likes that look?
>>11922621I wish Transformers had a single piece of media that was half as GOAT as Brave Police.
Went to Smyths yesterday, they had Skyward, nice enough, but don't get the hype
>>11922837PCC was fun
>>11922916Uhh...Grimlock? Cordon? Sunstreaker? Ultra Magnus? Delta Magnus?
The mustard bastard.
Also Jihaxus has finally yellowed. Last year it was still a pale green.
Post figures with cool autismo engineering for the transformation
>>11923037I'm a few episodes into J-Decker nowThe human villains would be legit scary if they weren't so goofy, very Eggman in that wayDidn't expect McCrane and Dumpson to have wives
>>11923045The only Skywarp I ever had was the FoC one (and pic related if he counts), so I'm eager to get this guy and the other two to go with him. After years of kicking myself for not getting the Classics Skywarp/Magnus 2-pack, I'm finally gonna have them together.
>>11923095I also had that skywarp, very fun
>>11923095This mold's planet key gimmick always bothered me. I give a lot of leeway to questionable things in altmodes, you can potentially explain away a lot of shit that looks like it'd be an issue. But you cannot tell me that having giant flap open up that's going AGAINST the air would not be catastrophic while in flight. I'm not a physicist or anything, but that sucker is going to crash.
>>11923107I had it and it was not a good toy. They fucked up the cyberjet transformation in every way so he was unstable and jank.
>>11923107It's just a really big airbrake>>11923115The bottom half of the robot mode is fine, it's the shoulders where the whole thing falls apart imo.
>>11923115I liked him
wow I forgot how bad shockwave looked in tfone
>>11923093>I'm a few episodes into J-Decker nowReally? That's cool. I won't spoil anything, but it's a show with a lot of heart, if you're into that sort of thing. And a banger OST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czgFLwllJUA
>>11922562can I get the new deco but on the old mold? thanks in advance habsro
>>11922862fuuuuuuuck I didn't even notice that shit. probably a compromise so they could throw in the mediocre dragon form.
>>11923146The dragon IS the compromise, it's so they don't have to work around the jet kibble when you can just take it off.
>>11922853h ah ayea
>>11923221This. The old Voyager had the jet wings wrap around his legs and give him a bulky backpack, which was great for making his transformation actually functional but left him with bits hanging off that weren't visible in the movie. This new one fixes that issue by having the kibble detach completely, with the added bonus of being able to combine the bits to make a reference to his originally intended dragon mode, but the dragon wasn't the reason the kibble was made detachable in and of itself. Those grooves on his chest are presumably where his jet landing gear bits plug into when in alt mode (in robot mode, they either plug in behind his shield or form his pet dragon's legs).
>>11922817Such a sick toy. The ONLY thing I don't like about him is the fact that a Donkey Kong barrel with a chain in it is a shit weapon.
>>11923037So like, if they did Car Robots 5 more times?
>>11922562Fuck, man. I really like the head and the red but the torso is rough.
>>11923037Animated is at least half
>>11923231Honestly, I'm down for the kibble dragon idea, but I expect an immaculate robot and alt mode if they're going to do something like that.I mean, they cheat the transformation but they still can't hide the arms in jet mode?
>>11923227This Brawn is forever my Robot Doom Guy on my shelf.
>>11923259I'm praying he has a functional waist swivel, but honestly...it doesn't look like he even has room for one with those big hinges near his belly.
>>11922916that is a little odd, yeah.>>11922932oh, phew.>>11922954That's only because your brain can't handle the complexity. it's okay. In your defense, a few of the designs really ARE just ugly metal smashed together, like the dragon. They were clearly aware of the criticism, and occasionally stepped in a bit.
>>11923091boo. sorry to see it.>>11923107kek, that IS kinda stupid.
>>11922793Put the Junkion “medic” with a romanian accent, and make him a futuristic tow truck kek
>>11923308>I called for a medic, and when I woke up I was in a shipping container full of ice and my catalytic converter was gone!
>>11923280He has a waist swivel.
>>11923045I have Thundercracker and I like him, the waist swivel makes a huge difference, but I think I do prefer the look of the Earthrise version. The mold doesn't feel as expressive as its contemporaries like 86 Megatron and Prime.
They should release a Marvel deco Blaster, and his accompanying cassette should be Scrounge. Yes I know Scrounge wasn't a cassette.
>>11923340Well, it's no less accurate to his actual canon alt mode than his existing toy. Though, come to think of it, he turns into a wheel... why don't we have a CD player transformer who spits out transforming CD minions?
>>11923345Because circles are hard
