Are you buying the newest Oveargear figures, to cleanse yourself of Hasbro's cheap slop?

why does he have both 3mm and 5mm ports? is that a normal thing for non-transformers takara stuff?
>>
>>11933954
Nah, too monochrome.
>>
>>11933972
Yeah same here I get what they're going for but I still don't like it. I feel like there was a happy medium, maybe dark red and black instead of bright red and blue for optimus idk.
>>
>>11933954
Looks like this person figured out how to use his ab crunch
>>
Would (you) like or dislike it if Transformers leaned harder into being mecha in a new entry? I'm talking super modes, power-ups, non-scramble combinations, and the like.
>>
>>11933996
Would love it but it would be even better if it was a new Brave show.
Then again, we have Dandivine as a spiritual successor this season and it is pretty terrible, so...
>>
>>11933999

Too bad it fucking SUCKS

SORT OF!
>>
>>11933996
the term you're looking for is 'super robot' I think. though I fail to see how non-scramble combinations fit that specifically.
>>
>>11933954
they look cool but I can't justify the price tag
>>
>>11933925

You guys reminded me how much I like ER Trailbreaker/Hoist. I did end up preferring the Selects version, in part because I just couldn't unsee the brown plastic on ER, but also I really liked the contrast between the charcoal grey and light blue, plus the light grey and red are better shades IMO.
That mold has one of my favourite transformation steps. The way you fold down the hood and then hinge the crotch forward and it all locks together with the most satisfying click. Absolute hand candy.
>>
>>11933972
As one of the few people here who hates gaudy late G1/G2 colors I really like it myself.
>>

You're replying like I said otherwise, but I totally agree. What a shame.
>>

I would like another go at Multiforce/Powerlinx stuff but for both factions.
>>
>>11933999
how is dandivine a spiritual successor the robot looks like something out of a korean show
>>
>>11934003
You’re stupid. A reverse ab crunch is nearly useless. Also characters that can’t fly don’t need to do flying poses. Meanwhile I can list 100 reasons someone might bend over forward.
>>
>>11934050
list three, if you please.
>>
What Beast Machines guy should I get next
>>
>>11934052
Who do you have? I really like Skydive myself
>>
>>11933954
do these feel like newer SS which can be pretty solid
or like diaclone where you can feel the quality in hand and its brick solid
>>
>>11933954
what is the best Transformers Prime figure of Optimus Prime to get? I should have one, but I don't, and I have no idea which one to get. I probably will get the beast hunters one at a later date, but I'd like a pre-revival one for him first
>>
>>11933954
>>
>>11933970
3mm is for diaclone ports
>>
>>11933954

I assume Diaclone as it feels and looks by the material, design and detailing

Not unless they go on sale somewhere.
They look cool, but I'm not super interested in $100+ Voyagers.
>>
>>11934072
At this point there isn't much of a difference between paying for $60 voyagers and $100 voyagers
>>
>>11934074
just buy blokees if the big boy toys are too pricy for you
>>
>going around my local ROSS looking for GI Joes

>area is notoriously hunted and picked clean
Fuck man, finally lucked out and I couldn't capitalize on it. Doubt it'll be there by next week. I did find a couple retro green shirt Joes though.
>>
>>11934072

Engineering wise it's more classic MP tier

I shouldn’t have to but;
1. Super hero landing pose
2. Battle ready hunched over pose
3. Heroic crotch thrust
Humanoids bend over all the time and rarely ever do back bends

The first edition one is a fantastic toy that completely changes between modes and gives the illusion of having more mass in robot mode. Regular release has ugly blue translucent plastic and panels hanging from his back that can be seen from the front.
>>
>>11933954
I don't need to cleanse myself of Hasbro's turds because I don't buy them. I don't think Takara's output is all that impressive either, really.
>>
>>11934092
>landing pose
huh. I guess I thought of that more as a knee-clearance issue, but maybe you're right. still, that one really helps if you can bend the head upward, and failing that, surely the upper body (that is, reverse ab crunch)
>hunched over
okay, obvious. but again, if the head can't bend...
>crotch thrust
now see, that's- well that's not exactly reverse ab crunch, but it is... more about the ankles than it is the stomach
>>
>>11933954
I buy chinese/korean robot toys when my Hasbro fatigue reaches critical levels. That was the entire first half of the year btw.
>>
let's say I have some loved ones who want to buy me actual presents this year, and I'm poor
how would I acquire some recent takara stuff e.g. glowing leo? these loved ones refuse to use anything but amazon by the way..
>>
>>11934104
You appreciate that you have loved ones who will get you gifts and pick something that would actually be reasonable for them to get you.
>>
>>11934052
Either Night Viper or Battle Unicorn.
>>
>>11934105
the trouble is I've sort of.. pared down everything I could want, found a way to pay for the majority of it, and at this point there's little else I would actually want.
Plus this person has a tendency to buy me things she would want instead, if I don't think of something in time. or clothes, which I could use, but chinese manufacturers don't make the kind I like anymore, and they're all there is.
>>
Wondering when we'll hear about Cryotek.
>>
>>11934098
Legendbros what other characters do you expect or ate hoping to see from takara? I'm not familiar enough to know what to hope for

There's no point in trying to predict New Legends, it's a fever dream.
>>
>>11934121
Yeah. They just picked one of the absolute worst molds in all of Legacy to redeco >>11934098
>>
>>11934127
it's so sad that such an awesome character, such a cool altmode, such awesome style, has had two such terrible molds. it's funny people compare him to a zoid liger, because they have been doing the same for years now, shrinking the lion's head down til it looks ridiculous.
>>
>>11934117
>>11934119
What do you mean? Blokees Cryotek will be out before 2027
>>
>>11934118
They're pretty random so far, but I'm hoping Takara does BW II Starscream and BB. They've also hinted Super Megatron really hard, and I want that to pay off.
>>
>>11934131
How are they? Never bought one. Any images?
>>
>>11934095
It's a collab with a great cyberpunk style JP brand apparently

>>11934097

>>11934098
He's so good and yet this mold just isn't that great
>>
>>11934146
>JP
god dammit now I'm reminded of how many jurassic park crossovers we didn't get to get
>>
>>11934118
Considering how much Superlink references TakaraTomy had been sprinkling around as of late, I wouldn't be surprised if the next all-new mold Transformer toy they make is Grand Convoy which would give them an excuse to make Grand Scourge.
>>
Remake one day
>>
>>11934154
I get the feeling Hasbro hates Energon because they dont want to deal with the combining gimmick and they know people will complain if everyone cant be pants and shirts for each other
>>
>>11934156
I'd say that's one of many reasons why Hasbro won't do anything Energon related but I believe the primary reason is that nobody at Hasbro has any idea what the Energon toyline or anime is actually like and refuse to touch it because of its bad PR with a cursory glance and thinking it's not worth doing. Not helping is the fact Legacy United Core Class Energon Megatron was made as a trial to gauge interest and it ended in a failure because people didn't want a Core Class Energon Megatron.
After all, Hasbro has nothing wrong with the gimmicks, in fact they love it so much they keep pushing either Energon weapons or dual combining in kids toylines like RiD2015 and Cyberworld.
>>
>>11934095
Why can't we get this as the first release instead? And have Grindor in green?

Blackout is just plain compared to this

But the same figures always look better on the showfloor shelve
>>
>>11934198
yeah he was a huge anticipation, a huge letdown, and an even more huge price tag. Absolutely nuts how poorly this was handled.
>>
>>11934206
The Blade Liger version looked a bit better. I'm hoping that a future release improves upon the mold.
>>
>>11934098
A bit dissapointed it's the A Hero is Born Vector Sigma. I was hoping they'd redeco the new Soccer transformer into Vector Sigma. Sort of related, I was also hoping they'd redeco Micronus into the Legend disc, so that's a bit of a bummer.
>>
>>11934012
>>11934025
Honestly doesn't look terrible. I tried using AI to edit some of my toy photos awhile back, but I found the mileage really varied with the end result. Even the decent looking ones felt like they lacked soul compared to the photos I was taking before, so I just gave it up.
>>
>>11934214
yeah that concept art looked great. but it would have been even more impossible. the entire point of BL is how long the head is, the long, flowing mane with all these spikes it forms. you simply can't make that a torso.. and it's crazy how tiny the liger head looks in the finished product, in zoid mode, yet so oversized and goofy in robot mode.

Wut?

Really?
I have the thing after getting MPG Gen prime and I felt I shouldn't have gotten Prime at all (they were priced the same) with how good shield prime is.

Anyway, have another transformers. Shield prime is the only transformers brand related item in the show

I don’t know how they fumbled this design so badly. It should have been significantly smaller, with completely different proportions, a Bullet Core liger head, and limbs that could be swapped with Dia Battles X-1.
>>
>>11934238
It should have been either ZoidsxDiaclone or ZoidsxTransformers
Trying to fit all three bogged it down too much
>>
>>11934238
Same thing with the Macross crossover
They made him Optimus
Could’ve easily been a Delta Leo Prime instead
>>
>>11934152
I’m very surprised we didn’t get at least one more with Dilophocon retooled into a Raptor. Could have packed it with a Chris Pratt dirt bike or an Ian Malcolm Mercedes ML 320.
>>
>>11934156
Speaking as an Energon/Super Link enjoyer I would not care if shirt/pants combining was nixed. Energon has a bunch of good character designs that I’d prefer to see done without being compromised by a combination gimmick. I would love to get Rodimus Convoy with modern articulation and better proportions.
>>
>>11934099
the one that came with the matrix or the one that was part of the first edition wave?
>>
>>11934260
I disagree, the reasons most people like the Autobot character designs is because of their body proportions with the legs being bigger than the arms as a result of the Superlink/Powerlinx gimmick, it gives the Autobots the heroic proportions that make them look cool to begin with. Take that away and redoing the proportions to make the designs more balanced just takes the charm away from the designs.
>>
>>11934266
The one without the matrix, obviously. Just compare them and it's clear which one looks better.
>>
>>11934272
Ah, thanks. Sucks that the first edition one is around $120 on average, I may just need to settle for the one from Prime's RiD wave
>>
>>11934273
Look into the KO APC toys version. It’s around $55 shipped, it’s a slightly improved version of the official toy.
If you want more show accurate but are ok with non-transforming, there’s also the Blokees model kit.,

By better proportions I just mean more like those of the character models, as opposed to the anime/toys. Take Rodimus for example. The head is more angular. His biceps are longer and more defined while his forearms are shorter. His torso is longer to better differentiate his chest from his crotch. The thighs are longer but the knee pads and feet are smaller. All those little changes add up to a better proportioned design without losing his heroic appearance.
>>
>>11934388
I think they literally just stretched him vertically and called it a day.
I mean...
it worked, but won't work when transformed.
>>
This feels like a Ship of Theseus moment.

I found a old Optimus Primal KO online that was missing some parts and it looked very similar so i was curious if actual parts would fit the figure. turns out the parts do fit. albeit a little difference in tolerances.
>>
>>11934198
>>11934206
While I agree that he could've been a lot better, I still like him. As I've mentioned before, though, I don't like to think of him as a Transformer so much as a Zoid that somehow got displaced into the Diaclone universe and got upgraded to have a robot mode (which just happens to resemble Optimus, as Optimus' own appearance is the result of him originally being a Diaclone toy to begin with).
I do wonder if someone out there will eventually figure out how to make a kit to fix up the Liger mode a bit, though - I don't mind the robot mode looking weird, but the Shield Liger form really should have taken priority here.

>>
>>11934455
Als, I know most people are already aware, but I'm still annoyed with how they handled the new minicons. Swindle and Longarm both end up compromised when they didn't need to be. If they always planned to make sets that shared molds, they should have included minicons that shared Leader-1 and Sparkplugs colors, instead of adding two minicons and having them be fully painted.

the only thing I could see being fixable is the legs, the bizarrely spindly thighs (why the shin-meat didn't move up there, I have no idea)
the head is just irredeemable. too small, and neckless. Same issue, like I said, that most modern zoid liger releases have had. Look at this teeeeny tiny lil head. I get it, the mane restricts the highly-desired neck movement, and for a transformer, you want a cat head to be extra flat so it can be a chest, but.. did it occur to them to tilt it down, instead? that would have been okay, and freed up some mane-space.

-Megatron
-the main seeker trio (F-35 Starscream, F22's Skywarp and Thundercracker
-Soundwave as a drone, again (though, the type that looks like a stealth bomber)
-All the combaticons (though, they likely won't combine). Swindle shares a mold with Hound, but has different weapons, Onslaught is a prime retool with a flatbed trailer, Brawn is an Abrams, Vortex is a valor, and Blast off is a bit tricky, not sure what you could use for him in a modern setting.

Autobots
-Hound, a modern jeep but almost g2 style weapons assortment, maybe he gets the live action versions hard hat and triple Gatling.
-Warpath: M7 Bradley
-Hot Shot: M1117 asv
-Ironfist: SVI max 9
-Huffer: Oshkosh M-ATV
-Sunstreaker: Darpa flypmode car

Not 30. But it's a start.

Megatron was strapped to the outer hull of the shuttle the Maximals were on when they jumped back to the present, but he fell off partway there and ended up on Cybertron an unknown amount of time before they returned; as is such, he met up with Cryotek in the time period between BW and BM and tried to get him to help remove his organic beast mode; Cryotek failed, but instead managed to copy that beast mode onto himself before taking off to start his own plan for subjugating Cybertron - only to realize that Megatron had backstabbed him AGAIN by stealing his Stasis Lock virus from him. Knowing what was about to happen next, Cryotek fled Cybertron entirely, escaping just as Megs released the virus that allowed him to take over the planet. By the time the Maximals finally arrived in the present, Megatron had conquered the planet and Cryotek was already hiding safely on one of the Cybertronian colony worlds, admiring his shiny new dragon form and waiting for Megatron's inevitable defeat.
So yeah, it's not a coincidence - Cryotek literally copied that alt mode from Megatron.

This upgrade kit was worth it. Knocking the pins out of the butt plate was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Everything locks in and VERY solid.

Yes and two extra pins in case the originals get damaged (mine did).

I remember making fun of the Cryptofags when it was first getting big. Called it play money, laughed at them for wasting their time. Now I wish I had bought in.

But can you still transform Long Haul into vehicle and robot mode?

Yes, it comes with a replacement piece that pins back into Long Haul, which splits where the arrow is pointing. It makes the butt plate removable and usable as a shield.

Neat. Kind of tempted to get the upgrade kits for Devastator but not sure I want to drop 150 on all of them.
>>
>>11934572
Unironically tho i'd like a 3P part for a big ass sword or Cannon or something that folds out into that shape to gap fill and "complete" Cybertron Primus

>Check Powerlinx Red Alert.
>They painted the roof white
>But they didn't paint the bottom of the gun to match, so a chunk of the roof is orange

Why in the world did they bother. Leaving the roof unpainted would be better so it can match the gun.

Its supposed to be mismatched. The original was like that too.
