I'm cooking up a homemade wargame and I wanna sperg about the setting. Pic related, it's kinda like a mix of these things if I had to describe it in comparison to other things.It is the 24th century. Humanity is united under the banner of the Confederation of Mankind, a highly militaristic state that has devolved to being only democratic on paper. Mankind wages a seemingly endless war against the horrors of the abyssal void, and the biomechanical abominations that serve them. Pouring forth from tears in the fabric of reality and dormant facilities deep beneath the surfaces of long dead alien worlds, which have now awakened. Missiles and rockets fly through the skies, magi-enhanced atomic bombs are fired from orbit, and brave soldiers hold the line against the endless swarm of unknowable evil that threatens to consume us all.Long story short. Humanity gets up into space, discovers ruins of long dead alien civilization, aliens were fucking with things they shouldn't have and in their final, desperate act sealed away the malevolent "gods" they accidentally unleashed. Humanity didn't know about any of this and just accidentally pressed a button or something in some ancient ruin somewhere which caused a cascading effect and all hell to break loose. Now Mankind wields the fusion of advanced technology and the arcane arts to wage this war of survival.Picture a bald, scarred guy in power armor that has arcane sigils etched into it fending off weird alien cyborg ant things with a plasma rifle, and ground soldiers pouring out of dropships on some icy moon to go into battle against inky black void wraiths and other unknowable horrors.
