I like to set up pistol-start survival servers with scoring enabled and no additional PWADs other than the corresponding skinpack, just so they're present among the sea of framerate-destroying games.

A couple pages in the manual that explain the scoring/lives system would get the point across much more efficiently than just mentioning some CVARs with values that usually don't even reflect the monster counts of the mapset one plans to host. Break down the point distribution, mention that people who timed out or crashed can jump right back into the game and, if necessary, make note of game modes and mods that break the scoring system (Invasion is one from what I've seen).
