And it does this job well, with one small caveat; this is ALL the case does well. The culprit himself is not only bland, but 1-dimensional. There's nothing interesting about him whatsoever, not even so much as a parlor trick up his sleeve. In fact, if it weren't for the second mystery and the main cast, this case would easily be mind-numbingly boring. However, it is also a great introduction to the cast as well as the second mystery, so it's still average quality>Case 1-28/10. The problem is pretty explicit, so I'll get it out of the way first. The culprit is shown YET AGAIN despite it not being a tutorial case. Without this, I'd give it an 8.5 or even a 9, as the story work is great and an underlying mystery is still present. It's also a great introduction to court room shenanigans and channeling>Case 1-38.5/10. The first proper case, with an unknown culprit, a cast full of suspects and a proper investigative period. In all honesty, everything is great about this case, worthy of a solid 8. However, what pushes it into .5 territory is the fact that, despite being the very essence of a filler case (one with no direct connection to the final case), it still contributes to the games overarching narrative through character work. Very good stuff>Case 1-410/10. The gold standard for AA final cases. The character work, the foreshadowing, and the mystery, the downright insane court room shenanigans, the themes, the culprit, all culminate into a perfect conclusion for the story arc against a veritable boss battle of a culprit. It even manages to set a second gold standard

Wild court room shenanigans, fun characters, and a culprit who, despite his low difficulty & identity revealed beforehand, still has a few smart tricks and an underlying mystery. Honestly, can't do better than this>Case 2-29/10. A polished 1-2 using implementations from 1-3, creating a proper yet still somewhat light genuine murder mystery. It also serves as a good introduction to the magatama mechanic, which adds an extra layer of complexity to the series' investigations>Case 2-33/10. You are probably wondering "is it really that bad?" And the answer is a unanimous YES. 2-3 is the most hated case in the entire AA FRANCHISE. No case comes close to how awful this thing is. The characters are flat and abrasive, the mystery is 1-dimensional, the investigation is finicky, and the cherry on top? It violates Knox's Decalogue in law AND spirit. At this rate, the case would be worth 5/10. A firm okay that despite being a failure, is at least chaff instead of waste. However, there's one last thing. The culprit is the worst written piece of fucking shit in the entire series, and it honestly baffles me and thousands of others how they cocked this up on such a monumental scale>Case 2-410/10. The greatest achievement is that it manages to take a unique element that would've normally been a detriment to the case and turned it into a vehicle for out-of-the-box court shenanigans that to this day have not been rivaled in terms of sheer ludicrousness. Everything else is up to par in terms of final case quality

The difficulty is absurdly high and there's no mentor to help. It even sacrifices all this for the sake of greater foreshadowing, which is like cutting your right arm off to save the left>Case 3-110/10. Best filler case ever. Despite being entirely self-contained, it uses this microcosm of a mystery to the best of its ability, weaving an entire miniature world for the reader to dissect in order to find the truth. Everything else from the shenanigans to the investigation is fantastic, and to this day people still talk about the culprit in the highest of esteems>Case 3-38/10. It's very, very, very divisive. Mostly because it makes similar mistakes to 1-2 out of necessity rather than fault, and the fact that it has characters designed to be abrasive. Still, for what it's worth, the shenanigans are fun, and while the mystery is somewhat batshit it's still kinda fun. And besides one annoying gimmick, the case is mechanically solid>Case 3-47/10. Its fucking 3-1 in all its glory all over again>Case 3-510/10. Finally, all the sacrifice was worth it. What this final case relatively lacks in shenanigans, it more than makes up for with pulse-pounding tension, fantastic character work, and the single most intricate mystery in the entire trilogy. It also serves as the perfect thematic end to the overarching narrative of the trilogy as well, a true chapter turner
>>77620880>Case 1-510/10. In order to explain why I have upended this case from 1-X to 3-X, first we'll need a history lesson. In 2005, after having released the trilogy for GBA, the team were as enthusiastic as ever to move the series onto a new console, in this case the NDS. However, in order to prepare themselves for the task of making Apollo Justice, they first decided to remake the trilogy for the NDS, in order to familiarise themselves with the new hardware. However, they went the extra mile with PW:AA's remake. Instead of releasing it as is, they decided to make a brand new case for the game, using the various widgets of the NDS to the best of their ability alongside it. The twist here is that they didn't make it a filler case, oh no. They made it FINAL CASE WORTHY, with ALL the intricacy and foreshadowing that entails, all compressed into the span of a single case. As a direct consequence, it is the second longest case in the entire franchise, with only one of the Investigations final culprits beating it by 5 sessions (1-5 has 26). This, however, is its only flaw. Everything else is masterful, with the culprit being the true standout, even tying the case in to not only the main arc of JFA, but the overarching themes of the trilogy itself. It even has a hidden mystery the game never tells you about that serves as that little after-story snack for readers to enjoy. All in all, it's fuckin commendable how they did so much with so little
