Just beat her, and DAMN - I knew the Guardians were basically renamed Equal Dragon Weapons, but I wasn't expecting to fight THE Equal Dragon Weapon. She was very clearly made with Fatalis DNA (and some Gore Magala thrown in for good measure), and I totally wasn't expecting her to transform once I broke off enough of her shell. That phase transition where she blew up the whole arena was the first time I fainted this entire game, if only because I wasn't expecting it, got myself surrounded by Wylk crystals, and had nowhere to dodge to when she detonated them all at once.
Overall a fun fight, though I hope there's a harder version of it - looks like she doesn't have a weapon, armor set, or any unique materials, so I'll have to wait for an HR or G-Rank rematch for that, I guess. I liked her design - I always had a thing for angelic dragons, though her literally turning into a Fatalis after shedding kinda threw me off - IF WE'RE DOING THIS, THE MASK STAYS ON!
Also Arkveld had an egg (I swear it's not mine), so now I'm likely going to have to deal with her kid in the future, unless this is the one that's going to end up in Eorzea when the crossover happens.

I agree - not only did Zoh look like a Fatalis, she was literally using some of its attacks at the end; she should have been a Black Dragon-level threat and definitely deserved a harder fight. Finally canonizing EDWs and giving us one to fight as the final boss sounds good on paper, but when your game is entirely Low Rank difficulty, you're doing everyone a disservice like this. Zoh Shia was specifically built as a last line of defense - presumably against the original Fatalis - and was supposedly responsible for the destruction of Wyveria and loss of all of their technology, so making it a Low Rank definitely cheapened the whole fight.
...At least she's prettier to look at than the Frankenstein'd one from the artbook that the Hunter's Guild was supposedly trying to revive (which may or may not still be canon, given the Guild guy's reaction to your report during the credit roll and that scientist dude's comment earlier when the nature of Guardians was first revealed); I'm guessing they misunderstood what was meant by EDWs being made from 'monster material'

It wasn't really anything more than an unused concept, of which was rightfully shitcanned. Things like it and the Crypt Hydra were interesting on a conceptual level but even for MH1 they don't fit the final game's vibe at all. Parts of them being recycled for Zoh Shia, Narkarkos, and possibly Ahtal-Ka's giant fuck-you puppet mech make for more refined versions of these ideas, however over-the-top they are in their own ways. If memory serves right, Duremudira was ostensibly EDW-lite but was supposedly just some mystery tower-squatting fucker instead.

To be frank, the finer details of in-world history should really go mostly unexplained. A bunch of villagers in a fully pale white area just casually namedropping a long-gone nation with a brief history lesson makes for some tonal whiplash compared to every other mainline release where ancient civ stuff was just kind of there and never the focus. Would make more sense in Stories, seeing that the core games' world-building is what's interesting. Explain too much and it eventually becomes gay and lame like the Horus Heresy.

The tl;dr of all of that, is exactly what you said about explaining too much.

This is one of the most common writing/worldbuilding pitfalls out there, yet it rarely ever gets discussed compared to other things. It doesn't matter if it's MH, WoF, 40k, or any other series/setting, there's just certain things that shouldn't be expanded upon, and instead left ambiguous for the reader/viewer to ponder over and create their own ideas.
Less is more. Few things can kill the integrity of a setting quite like unnecessary explanation and exposition.

I often have a lot of trouble articulating exactly why I don't like roksim's art, but I think this piece is quite illustrative.

He has this extremely low-detail style that's somehow also so busy that it's often difficult to understand what's actually being depicted at a glance, and his animations feature rapid, non-physical movements such that the characters feel like they're made out of silly putty. Plus I just don't vibe with the art style. All of his characters feel way too spindly and disproportional.

But I guess it's just a me problem, he's very popular so he must be doing something right.

You're right. His art is very miss. It gets some getting used to I guess. I would never of bothered with if there weren't a lot of overlapping with my fetishes which he covers quite a bit in his stuff. Lizzy gets into a lot of situations that hit just right.

Ehhh...I wouldn't quite say that - e6 has a very fap minded userbase (no really?), so anything animated typically gets a lot of views and likes even if it's not really good (especially in sound, the less genericfemalemoan.mp3 in my life, the better) because it's easier to jerk to than a still image. VNanon here with a new version of the /scaly/ VN, didn't see anything about any bugs in the last version so I'm hoping no news is good news. I did go back and correct a few typos and things that didnt match up

I also started adding in the second shift with the dialogue, so the player meets Elizabeth our 4th main character.

She has some conditional (but again non-scoring) dialogue trees to mess around with, and like Karl and Lilianne, her orders are randomly generated too.

Probably not the most ideal place to ask this but since they did quite a lot of scaly art/animations:
Does anyone actually know what happened to Dreamertooth?

I know they stopped doing stuff 4 years ago but I recently stumbled across their stuff again and wondered if since then they ever made a statement on what happened?

As far as I know most people suspected they were drafted into the Russian army but apparently that wasn't true and a long time later they said on Twitter that most of their accounts got hacked and they regained access.
But even after that they never really returned / said why they won't/can't.

Supposedly they currently have a well paying engineering job but I'm sure their Patreon made them more money.
Did they have to get a job to avoid getting drafted?

If they just wanted to no longer be involved with any of their stuff I feel like they would have long ago deleted their Patreon and not just put it on pause indefinitely.
Maybe they are waiting for the whole war thing to blow over and then move out of Russia before they can come back to their stuff?

Anyone got any insights or does nobody really know?

Some dialogue before and after the quest suggests the black dragon form isn't natural - Zoh almost certainly was made with Fatalis DNA, but actually being able to turn into a semi-Fatalis doesn't seem to have been intended. It was stated that it was feeding off of the Dragonflame and evolving itself, similar to Arkveld except it had a bigger energy source and was apparently at it for far longer; I'm assuming tapping into that Fatalis DNA and physically morphing into one was part of that evolution, hence why it initially kept morphing back into its original white form until we REALLY pissed it off, which seems to have pushed the mutation even further. If you pay attention in Phase 1 when you break its mask for the first time, the face underneath isn't the same one as the Black Dragon one that it keeps morphing into later in the fight, so that's definitely not what the Wyverians designed it to look like.

Wyverns should wear shoes or something to cover their talons when in public.

I know Wyverns use their talons to grab things, and walk, mostly to the lack of proper claws to grab things, some might get upset by this and considere it unhygenic, but this is not really an issue. Wyverns generally keep their talons pretty clean, and they wash them a lot. This personaly, have never upset me, but what upsets me is how unapologetic wyverns are about the fact their talons are really hot for some of us. They constantly wriggle their toes or stretch them in front of anyone! It seems like they enjoy showing off their carefully taken-care-of talons, some of them even decorate them with toerings or polishing their claws! This must stop. This kind of behavior it's immoral, because it leads humans to have perverted and filthy thoughts about sexy wyvern talons. I have many times caught myself watching, almost drooling at the sight of a wyverness wriggling her toes while, or resting on a park bench, with a diamond hard boner between my legs, or my gaze gravitating, not towards a beautiful sunset at the beach but at a wyverness carefully painting the nails on one of her talons using the other to apply the nail polish, showing the grace and dextrecity of her toes and talons. No, that would be the urges from the author for inserting romance in the story, the best romance couples are the ones she didn't plan a lot into, that love triangle in arc 2 is comically bad.
Also the fact that the author clearly write a lot of the book stuff on the fly, you only need to do that on the first books, if you keep doing that it will end in disaster.

This is unrelated to the thread, but I love Picasso because he's a great example of why modern art is the way it is. Here's one of his earlier works, "Science and Charity," from 1897, and you can clearly see he's a deeply talented painter. So why did he progress into cubism and abstract art? Well part of it was certainly that photography was now a thing and painting the world exactly as it is gets boring, but there was also the fact that there were just a lot of really skillet classical painters around all of a sudden. "Guy who paints good" was no longer really interesting or groundbreaking on its own, and artists started looking for new ways to express themselves in ways that transcended ordinary reality.

I have a soft spot for cubism, but I mostly appreciate it for what it represents. And it always ticks me off to see people calling modern art garbage or trash, it's just operating with different goals in mind. Artstation is literally packed full of god-tier concept artists that absolutely nobody knows about because while they're very skilled, they're not doing anything artistically interesting.

While I liked the magic, it was somewhat uncomfortable to notice that the only reason why Darkstalker lost was literal plot induced stupidity.
At least for Turtle, Anemone and Stonemover there was the fear for their souls and Jerboa 3 didn't know if her next spell was going to take her a vital organ or something, but for Darkstalker there was nothing in book holding him back.
Even with those magic protection earrings, that type of spells have loopholes like we got to see when he brainwashed that bug to attack Arctic's ear.
Tui should have made him on the verge of insanity after being trapped alone under the boulders, him seeing things like a hallucination of Whiteout telling him to stop would have been a good reason to justify why he didn't win.

Iirc he was the only Icewing in the Talons of Peace (the other one was just Chameleon working as a spy for Scarlet) and he was really convinced that the prophecy was true, so he seemed to be a good dragon, he probably would have been nicer guardian than Kestrel or Dune.
Also I headcanon that Morrowseer on purpose ordered the Talons of Peace to sent him on that mission to get the Skywing egg because it would be a suicide mission for an Icewing.

I was honestly hoping that we would eventually get some kind of backstory for Hvitur.

A whole winglet would have been nice but the guide to the dragon world book would also have been perfect to at least dedicate a few pages to him.

My personal theory is that he lost most/all of his family to the war and with nothing left to loose he decided to seek out the talons of peace when he heard about the dragonet prophecy.
He probably wanted nobody else to ever have to suffer like him again and truly believed that the war needed to best stopped one way or another so far as risking his own life trying to to get the Skywing egg.

Yeah they'll be obviously underage. One of my later character ideas is a kobold that speaks coherent language, is a line cook for a nearby restaurant, and comes into the pub to bitch about it. But I have put down "week 6 or 7" for that guy in my plan.

For the days off I was just going to include a few options like "Go get groceries", "Go to the park", "Go into town" that will be mostly for flavor, but I'll try to sprinkle in chance meetings with other characters (say you run into Sarah at the grocery store on one of the weeks). If there's an option to meet with a specific character (like for Lilianne's mini route, you get will the option to meet her like you arranged. There will also be the option to just stay home and play vidya which will in effect do nothing.

I believe that arc 3 would have been better if it was self contained in Pantala, the first two books were entertaining but when Pyrrhia became an active factor in the story the quality went down really fast and L:Dragonslayer was a big mistake. Also if it were self contained then she wouldn't have to need to remove the magic from the poor Turtle (and now Stonemover will stay as a statue for the rest of his life).

Dragons today can't cope with the modern kobold - the rise in the number of dragoncels can most easily be attributed to the fact that traditional pressure from their out-of-touch parents to amass a horde of kobold minions is in direct opposition to new societal norms and how much more discerning kobolds have become over the generations, to the point that working kobolds are outright rejecting dragons now when such a thing would have been unheard as early as a century ago.
I suppose, in a way, wyverns are lucky to not have such a weakness as a societal tradition, given that they usually eschew kobold minions in favor of lifelong human partners instead when dating outside their species. Small surprise, given how amenable and "cute" humans tend to find them and their typical natures.

Alright, so I've gone through the VN, playing a goody-two-shoes. I didn't have enough time to play through more than once, unfortunately.

The sound effects are well placed and are clear, and I'm a fan of how you choose music that best suits a particular character. They slot in neatly. The banter between you, Lance and Malcolm are witty and fun. I like the camera shifting as the kobold krew are introduced; I didn't notice any particular 'hiccups' with its use. I got a chuckle out of the 'Snedfex' scene: the snake's portrait properly communicated how he(she?) was pissed off, while simultaneously displaying how they were struggling operating the bicycle. I guess that Karl would be the character that would approve of you if you later tell this same snake off?

The picture of Malcolm and his family was well drawn, I have to add.

I don't find Elizabeth's probing to be particularly, well, invasive, but that may just be me. I'm used to such probing in IRL.

That's Cirrus, who was later revealed to be Chameleon in disguise. So yeah, there really was only one (real) Icewing in the Talons, and that was Hvitur.
