I have been obsessed with iterative tit-for-tat recently. It's interesting but I think it's too simple. It's basically locking the same two people in a room forever. That's not how life works at all, even if it's interesting.There has to be more realistic game scenarios. My favorite idea so far is group choice. Individuals get to choose their groups and vice-versa. I'm thinking about something like five man groups with a hundred agent pool. These groups would be iterated with agents forming and dissolving groups with rewards assigned for cooperation and betrayal.You can add another layer of iteration by shifting agent pool strategy composition, simulating reproduction and selection.There has to be intra-group reward differentiation as well, otherwise the cooperating-and-banishing strategy will dominate too hard. My best idea to accomplish that is using an effort score that each agent produces with group success and failure determined by a threshold. I'm just worried that turning a boolean into a real number might add too much complexity. I'm also not entirely sure how to handle group removals as well.Even abstracting agents as equal is problematic. Should there be intrinsic advantages and disadvantages? I'm probably making it too complex for practicality.
