First for Amorey!!!!!
>>77685919Void Dreaming should be in the op. It's a rather good VN, and it just publicly updated with Day 3 (Patrons have all of Day 4) https://faorameridian.itch.io/void-dreaming
>>77686290>goodHell no it ain't! Fuck you mean good?Everyone is so unlikable. You say 1 wrong thing and they flip out at you.
>Mizz: does everything possible to look like a whore, act like a whore, and put out for MC>MC: hey it looks like you really want to have sex, want to do it?>Mizz: n-n-no I can't right now>also Mizz: fucks a fat bear 30 minutes later
>>77686388What the fuck kind of sociopath are you playing to get that result?
>>77686424The VN isn't trying to make everyone put out easy by porn game standards. Mizz has a lot of background that explains why he's the way he is, but the short version there is:>He doesn't like you enough. Hell, he barely knows you. Do a better job relating to him and he'll blow you, though.>Because of :reasons:, blowjobs don't count as sex.
>>77686424>>77686483There's also the fact that the game has CONSEQUENCES(tm) if you try to spy on people during their sex scenes. Which definitely changes things in terms of the completionist crowd or people who really want to jack off.
>>77686483This wouldn't happen in gay reality
>>77685618Whilst true, Alex only plays nice for as long as Loken is nearby. The moment he's no longer nearby, he drops all pretenses and starts doing horrible shit with impunity. Byte is the sole thing holding him accountable for any terrible actions he commits even if Loken acts as more of a (very, very) loose moral compass.
>>77686525If you don't want to fuck things up for yourself, don't reveal yourself when you're spying on Mizz and Bromm.>>77686552Mizz has a lot of baggage from how he grew up. His upbringing was a strict traditionalist (a lot of which stuck, even as he rebels against it) and he's doing a lot of what he does both for the control it lets him feel — something he felt very little of growing up — and because like a runaway bitchy daughter, he wants to disappoint his dad.
>>77686290VNs shouldn't be considered games at all.
>>77686603You'd have to delete half the shit from the OP then, and at the very least you are given a shitton of choice in Void Dreaming. The branching paths from the four days have ~880,000 words of written material.
>>77686630And that’s a bad thing? Fvnfags have their own threads but are too pussy to have a thread more than once every two weeks. Can’t upset the Morenatsu and Echo retards.
>>77686666"Kinetic Novels" are glorified comic books.
>>77686666Quads of truth.>>77686630>880,000 words of written materialDoes that make it a game? Sounds like a fucking nightmare.
>>77686712>Does that make it a game? Sounds like a fucking nightmare. There's a hell of a lot less in one run. Unless you're a completionist that just means you get to make more choices to have your own experience.
>>77686666>>77686712These threads will literally die a violent death if you do what you're insinuating, but please. Go right ahead. I'm sure you'll attract the couple dozen people from /v/ who make threads to seethe about FUGA on Fridays and maybe the one guy who still occasionally posts about Anomaly Collapse here and there. Maybe you can even samefag to keep the threads alive for a little longer if you're lucky.

It always baffles me how thread-ruining shitposters completely lose their shit over the most petty and utterly pointless shit which they use as the basis to destroy an entire thread without offering anything in return. And it's a consistent behavior for the terminally deranged too, so you may as well be seeing the exact same schizos doing the same shit over and over.>>77687348He can't. >>77687393unfortunately skyrim doesnt run natively on linux requiring a compatibility/translation layer such as wine
>>77687363I don't think it runs natively but you can try Cyberpunk 2077
>"I'll make my own furry games thread without the VNs and I'll spam your threads with nigger porn too!">number of furry rpgs and general furry games that aren't at least somewhat VN-like is abysmally low and most people haven't played any of them>will actually pretend to be surprised after killing off some of the only halfway decent threads on this board when no replacements are made when his shitposting frenzy dies downEven ignoring that he's just now outed himself as the schizo from the last thread, this is just sad as fuck.

>>77687634has he done any game shit since zap and andy? i loved that.
>>77689662If that was true we’d be dumped full of echo and morenatsu images
The shitposter is kind of right about VNs barely qualifying as games, though. We have to remember their claim to that category is mostly grandfather clause; the genre emerged back when hardware limitations meant you couldn't have it all. You had to pick between gameplay or story complexity, you didn't have the memory for both unless you wanted your game to come in a package of 10+ floppy disks. And it just so happens that text takes up a lot less memory than images, so naturally, lots of text emphasized with some nice art and limited (if any) gameplay was the natural path of least resistance for story-heavy games. Now that such restrictive limitations are no longer a concern, the genre is the exclusive domain of devs who lack the resources and skills for anything else, and it fucking shows. Art that's, at best, on the above average end of DeviantArt fare, writing that's hyperfocused on the author's highly specific hangups and/or made with a niche audience in mind, lewd or not, and no guarantee that it's even going to be good. Thankfully, it's usually at least passable, since people still understand that when writing's the focus of the genre, you can't afford to half-ass it entirely. And gameplay? Hah, the ones with any minigames at all are a rare exception. Many don't even have all that many branches in their stories and even fewer branches within branches. Some even go so far as to abandon all pretence of being games and give you an entirely linear story, and at that point, "why not just make a comic or write a book instead?" becomes an entirely valid question to ask.I just wish more devs would take inspiration from the PC98 heyday of the genre, in visuals if nothing else. The pixelated anime artstyle is good shit and since kemono wasn't much of a thing on the scene yet back in those days, there's a yawning gap of furshit with that specific look that's just begging for someone to fill it.
>The pixelated anime artstyle is good shitNo
>>77690402As opposed to modern soulless vector lines and airbrushed pillow shading or just plain flat colors? I'll take retro pixelshit over that any day of the week.
BBK doko?
I like men. Nougatine too.
>>77689937All I'm seeing from his Patreon are mostly just update vlogs for both Fenris High and some other project hes workkng on so not sure.
>>77690385>Art that's, at best, on the above average end of DeviantArt fare, I have seen triple A games with millions of dollars put into them with less effort than a single scene in Moontouched. >Many don't even have all that many branches in their stories and even fewer branches within branches. And that's wise. Look at fucking Blackgate for what happens when scope creep chokes the life out of a project. Or for a more successful yet still frustrating example, all of Lustful Desires (which actually does have gameplay, given its a VN-RPG hybrid).>and at that point, "why not just make a comic or write a book instead?" becomes an entirely valid question to ask.Because comic/book writing in the indie scene has a higher failure turnover rate than even VNs on their own. I wouldn't be able to tell you how many promising projects I've seen die in quick succession as soon as they announce they're going to be turning it into a comic or book instead. There are genuine complaints about the limitations of VNs to be had, sure. But most of these are issues even supposed 'real' games have and they don't get as much shit as VNs do because to subhumans, VNs are an easier target than criticizing how much of a crude butchery the average AAA or even AA game does to the genre.
I wanted to derail the thread by talking about how much I hate gay people but would you look at that; someone did that right before me and stole my thunder. I won't wait however many days to post it in the next thread once this faggot's blown over cuz I know I will forget about it by then. Anyway:I hate how one of my favorite visual novels (Echo) is being gamed by faggots like him:https://litter.catbox.moe/8uq54n.mp4I hate, HATE, this fucking flamer niggerfaggot that squeals like a girl for attention and is trying to be cute. I wish I could curb stomp his latinx subhuman skull so hard that his brain come out of it and I proceed to curb stomp his brain into mush. You don't understand how much I hate having to associate myself with faggots like him that probably listens to lady gaga and swishes his fingernails in public like a total fucking queer. If there is a civil war to be declared in whatever shithole he lives in, then I hope he's the first to die. Preferably broken into his home, dragged outside and publicly executed and livestreamed for my amusement . I HATE FAGGOTS I HATE FAGGOTS SO FUCKING MUCH. I WANT FAGGOTS TO STOP PLAYING THE SAME GAMES I DO AND STOP RUINING MY ENJOYMENT. THIS FUCKING FAGGOT GRRRRRRRRRRRR HOLY FUCK I HATE HIM SO FUCKING MUCH IT'S UNREAL.
>>77692199get help lol
>>77689662/fvn/ predates us and would do that anyway no matter what we tried to do. Heck, it's well-known most of them go to other gay threads or even on /v/ to post when their threads die here so it's not like the 2 week cool down even stops them.>>77692353He's probably some favelanigger, so likely can't afford to shell out for actual medication or stuff like that.
>>77692385>/fvn/ predates usIf you mean the current iteration of a furry games general, maybe.
>>77692705I meant the current version, yes. I'm aware furry games as a whole predates it but the older iterations may as well have been /fvn/-lite or /bara/-lite with how much shitflinging and catty drama went down in there before they imploded.
>>77692353He's so cuts.
>>77691995>I have seen triple A games with millions of dollars put into them with less effort than a single scene in Moontouched. And Moontouched is very much an exception, not the rule. Triple-A titles that look like shit used to be the exception too, until the rot within the industry that was allowed to fester for the better part of two decades breached through to the facade of graphical fidelity in the last few years. Still, we have indies ready and hungry to eat the big boys' lunch and former talent (in as much as any still exists in AAAA circles, at any rate) now that they're properly collapsing. VNs, however, can count on no such renaissance unless enough of the devs being laid off always really wanted to make some high quality ones (much less high quality pornographic ones, especially given recent monetization difficulties with that kind of contraband), and I doubt that.>And that's wise.If you're on an absolute shoestring budget, maybe. However, in any other circumstance, when the game-ness of a VN hinges entirely on the interactivity of the story, all I'd call it is laziness. The genre has one singular unique selling point, and it's unwise not to leverage it to the maximum extent you are financially able to. Any other obstacles to sprawling stories I would dare call skill issues. Games with more gameplay than picking dialogue choices can afford to sacrifice story complexity in favor of gameplay complexity. VNs can not, unless you load it up to the gills with minigames, and at that point, one has to wonder if some other genre wouldn't have been a better pick for that particular project.>Because comic/book writing in the indie scene has a higher failure turnover rateFair enough point, I suppose. Still, I'll point out the vast majority of VNs aren't exactly selling like hotcakes either, and I'll wager they take longer to make than novels, at least, and there's a ravenous readership of people interested in stories about sexy animal men.
>>77691995Granted, most of said people are women and they want a slightly different emphasis put on slightly different things than gay men, but hey, if you want to make money, you're just gonna have to cater to an audience and any writer worth his salt should be able to make the necessary tweaks to their material for such purposes. But yeah, if the argument is that you want to maximise your potential sales WHILE keeping your writing strictly in realms you personally find appealing, I can recognize making your project a VN as a valid strategy. I'll still shit on it if you make only the minimum viable product and milk patreonbux for years on end, though.>most of these are issues even supposed 'real' games have and they don't get as much shit as VNs doAin't been to /v/ lately, have you? Hell, you don't even have to jump into that cesspit to smell the winds of disease blowing through the industry at the moment. Everybody even slightly into gaming can see that giants of old are seeing the last of their legs topple from under them and it's largely due to the fact they forgot who they were making their games for, and the audience they spurned is rightfully mocking them for this self-inflicted fall from grace. The reason there has been a near-exclusive focus on graphics over gameplay for the longest time is because that's the only thing you can easily sell to investors. They don't understand the nuances of gameplay mechanics or story beats or character motivations, but they do recognize a pretty picture or a cinematic trailer. Even if VNs were still on the table of genres being made by the big boys, they'd suffer the same as all the rest; pretty faces with zero substance behind them. Just look at Goodbye Volcano High (they did get a public spotlight from Sony AND they also acquired console exclusivity rights to it, which is a lot more than most VNs could ever hope for) vs Snoot Game for a concrete example of that in action.
>>77694128>most of said people are women and they want a slightly different emphasis put on slightly different things than gay men,"Slightly different", he says. As though fujos haven't demanded people butcher their vision for stupid (moreso than usual FVN drama) drama or other shit before.
>>77694116>VNs can not, unless you load it up to the gills with minigames, Lustful Desires, Dawn of Corruption, the Curse of Something, Tavern of Spear, Killigans Treasure, Moonfire, Legends of Savvarah, Pirahus, Hero's Advent, Aftersoul. Even GameOver to an extent, given that it doesn't bother with shit like minigames or such but instead uses incredibly esoteric and obtuse puzzle-adventure logic to determine whether or not you'll get access to certain scenes and encounters. It is fully possible to make VNs with game complexity and in-depth mechanics. It's just that most devs prefer not to because of either laziness or how absurdly difficult it can be given the systems they generally have to work with. Not every dev is like Roads who can crank out massive Aftersoul updates in Unity every month or so. And as we've previously established, games like Hero's Advent are doing things with Ren'Py that break a system that is otherwise nigh-impossible to break. Most devs simply don't want to go through the struggle of shit like that just for the sake of their furry gooner games.>>77694128>I'll still shit on it if you make only the minimum viable product and milk patreonbux for years on end, though.I think anyone sane can be expected to do that. Nobody likes patreon scams except mindless paypiggies.
>>77694385Hey, what looks to you like butchery looks like minor adjustments to outside observers. There's a reason niche communities don't play well with the mainstream, and most of the time have, at best, a thin veneer of cordiality with other niche communities despite similarities in subject matter. Hell, the furry "community" itself hasn't really been a community for a long time, just a collection of often mutually hostile cliques that hang around the same sites and conventions for reasons of convenience and/or legacy support.
>>77694513>but instead uses incredibly esoteric and obtuse puzzle-adventure logic to determine whether or not you'll get access to certain scenes and encounters.I'd call that padding out the runtime rather than actual gameplay. That practice thankfully largely died out alongside point-and-click adventure games, and modern revivals of the genre avoid it as much as possible unless they're deliberately spoofing the ridiculous moon logic puzzles of yesteryear. Not to say that everything should always be served to even the most inattentive player on a sliver platter, seeing as that leads to the worst excesses of modern game design where your hand is firmly grasped at the very start of the game and the devs are afraid of loosening their deathgrip even slightly until the credits roll, but there's a happy middle ground to be found between the extremes here.Issue remains, however, that the base gameplay loop of a VN consists of clicking on dialogue options. Every other mechanic on top of that is just an effort to break that monotony up and keep the player on their toes, or to give players some semi-concrete statistics and data to gauge the potential consequences of their choices based on more than just hunches and conjecture from what they've read in the dialogues and monologues. But if one's choices don't really matter all that much in the grand scheme of the plot and character developments, it's all a very cheap illusion with lots of distracting bells and whistles, at the end of the day. I certainly always feel ripped off if I come to that realization on a second playthrough, even in games where the story is secondary.>Most devs simply don't want to go through the struggle of shit like that just for the sake of their furry gooner games. And that's the crux of the issue. We've had plenty of basic bitch slop to establish a baseline of expectations, now we should be starting to ask for more from each new entrant into the ring, in my humble opinion.
>>77694520All true, as much as it makes me depressed to admit it.
VNs are called games because "game" is used as an umbrella term for interactive entertainment.VNs are made because the devs like VNs and want to make their own, and because people are more used to paying for games, comics are easier to pirate, VNs are easier to make, and it seems people are more interested in VNs, I guess because it feels more immersive. So asking "why can't VN devs add more gameplay" is silly, because it's a different medium, the devs don't want to make games, they want to make picture books in a 16:9 aspect ratio that happen to be categorized as games, because it's what people want.
>>77695792This.
>>77695792This is kind of the other side of the coin being overlooked. I don't really need more gameplay in a VN because a lot of the time that just leads a project that the creators gets in over their heads on. I don't even really want choices unless they are super impactful because it feels like a waste of time as well. A lot of VNs are the way they are because making one with a lot of gameplay is much harder, and I don't see the logic in holding some solo dev or a small team to the same standards as a bigger, more organized, team. I can get gameplay from other games and mostly play VNs for the story.
>>77695792Don’t care what a “game” is described as, those fags have their own dedicated thread but are too scared to talk about anything that isn’t morenatsu, echverse, or drama related.
>>77696011Furry games, at least in its current form, was entirely created and envisioned as a place to not only discuss all furry games, but also all of the media that /fvn/ is SUPPOSED to be discussing but adamantly refuses to because they're too in love with shitposting, tribalfaggotry and ragebait to do the one fucking thing they exist for.

I want more furry games focused on pure degenerate sex, forced transformation and corruption that don't try to push some hackeneyed moral or depressing justification for not indulging because the devs think their game needs some massive backstory to justify why the world is the way it is. Flexible Survival and Aftersoul are good, but they can't keep supporting this sort of thing on their backs alone.
