Hey there everybody! Its that time again for another wifwolf thread. I hope you all have been well since last time. Its getting to be that time of the year again, the weather is cooling off, some trees are losing their leaves and stuff starts going bump in the night!I'm interested in running another writing competition this year, but unfortunately I fumbled the bag pretty hard last year and I know a lot of you were dissatisfied. I'd like to fix that, so please give me any suggestions you have for how we can decide the winner of the threads favorite story this time around. I'm not certain if we will do it, as finances are a little tight I'm sad to say, but we'll see what happens. There will be more details in the thread.Aside from that, I wish you all the best, and I hope you all enjoy the thread! Until next time,~Anon=====View all previous monthly threads:>https://desuarchive.org/trash/search/text/wifwolf/type/op/
As with last time, you'll have from now until the special Halloween thread to write up your stories, with a $100 US as a token of appreciation for the person who creates the thread's favorite story. Have your story on a website such as Ao3 or something else of the like where we can communicate privately if needed. Just share the link to the story here when you're ready. This year to decide the winner we will run some sort of poll so that the whole thread gets to decide, details on that are still in the air though, so input is appreciated as im a total boomer lol. Godspeed lads!
It feels to me like the last contest was only a few months ago, crazy how time can fly.Does the story have to be finished?
didn't get to see the eclipse today, the moon didn't rise from behind what was covering it til it was already over
>>77701227>wolf wife neglecting her hunting skills and has instead become the apex predator of the fridgeMany such cases!
Damn, I was about to post>wifwolfs when their thread hits page 10
happy harvest moon
>>77699211>This year to decide the winner we will run some sort of poll so that the whole thread gets to decideThat's not a good idea. The financial incentive means there's a very good chance that vote rigging will occur.
>>77698513Sorry for my absence. For anyone wondering, I was losing my mind redrawing https://desuarchive.org/trash/thread/75623276/#75694455 because I didn't like the original. Some things will change, but other than that, it's pretty much done.
Awoo
>>77705505>tfw she'll never wrap her arms around my neckwhy even live?

>>77705283It's a very nice upgrade. The foreshortening looks great.
>>77705283very nice!
I was watching Primitive Technology the other day and I realized something: this guy is every tribal awoo's wet dream> Can build brick huts - comfortable shelter for the entire tribe>Can make clay pots and weave baskets - storage for water, meat and fruits>Can smelt iron - durable knives for hunting>Can weave with bark fiber and grass - sleeping mats and blankets for cold nightsA man like him would genuinely be irresistible to them
Winter cant come soon enough
would you a cam-awoo
Need more scary, bestial wifs

When I moved in with my wifwolf, I was a bit put out that her record collection was a lot bigger than mine. More to the point, her stereo system was way beefier than mine. >Why do I love vinyl records?>I mean, on one hand, it is a romantic thing>Brushing the record, setting the tonearm, getting up to flip the disc>Holding the sleeve and inserts in your hands>Listening to the music bounce off the walls of the house and the furniture>Being able to share the music I love with the man I love...>Besides, I have to listen to music out in the open>It's not like Sony or Sennheiser are rushing to make headphones for pointy ears>Earbuds never sit right either, and the sound quality is awful>Sound waves are a series of vibrations>The faster they vibrate, the higher the pitch.>Human beings can hear up to 20,000 Hz>Though normally you tend to lose your ability to hear high frequencies over time>By blasting your earbuds at max volume to make up for the lack of noise cancellation and bass response in those shitty $10 drivers>Or by not wearing hearing protection to the range or to a concert or whatever>Wolves can can hear up to 80,000 Hz>What about low frequencies?>That's actually one of the only things you all have over us>That and being able to see the color red>Wolves can only hear down to about 70 hz with our ears>Humans can hear as low as 20 hz>That's one reason why I don't have so much heavy metal, hip-hop, or electronic music in my collection>They're too bass-forward, and if you can't hear those frequencies as well, they're practically unintelligible
>>77725565>What does all that talk of vibrations have to do with physical music?>All music recording is compression>The freest, least-compressed music you'll ever hear is at an acoustic jam session, a ceilidh, or an unamplified chamber music concert>All electronic amplification implies a certain degree of compression and distortion of the original sound>Sometimes that's a really great thing, but that's when it's deliberately done to make a certain sound>Not so much when the compression is just meant to facilitate transmission in the first place>Cassettes and vinyl records lose fidelity from the high-end first>That is, if they don't lose it from scratches or crinkles or warping>That's a problem for me>It makes the music feel less three dimensional, it's hard to describe>It's like the difference between a piece of meat that you salt as you cook it>And a piece of meat that you only salt right at the end>Maybe that's not a good metaphor, but it makes sense to me>Cassettes lose high end way worse than records>Even straight from the master dub>You can keep a vinyl record from losing high end if you don't use too much pressure on your needle>Basically, if you handle it right and store it right, and do all the things you'd normally do to avoid scratching it will also keep its fidelity high>There's really no guarantee of that for cassettes, even if you do everything right
>>77723134Like this? Also, colors are done, but I'm not sure how to tackle shading yet.
>>77726293>No, I'm not into CDs at all.>The way that digital music is they turn a continuous wave of sound into a chunky stair-step of micro-samples of sound>Each one stored magnetically on a disc or on a drive or whatever>Not to go too far into the weeds and talk about Nyquist–Shannon sampling theorem or the Whittaker-Shannon interpolation formula>But humans digitally mix records at a sample rate of about 40,000 samples, which are run through a reconstruction filter>That filter, by design, cuts off all of the top end that humans can't hear>And some of the top end that you canThen some file compression and artefacts on top of that>Especially if you're talking about mp3 files>Double-especially if you're talking about streaming music over the internet>So, if you can hear the difference between a master tape and a badly compressed CD or mp3>I really, *really* hear it>Look, I can turn my ears when I hear things, you can't>Stereo imaging, high frequencies, good speaker and subwoofer placement>They matter for everybody, but I'm extremely particular about it>Technically, you can get digital music with a high enough sample rate that I would be able to hear the whole range of frequencies>But that only helps if your master file was recorded to a high enough fidelity>Humans only care about the bottom 20k hz, so that almost never happens>Even vinyl records these days are recorded from digital, CD-quality master files in ProTools or Logic or whatever, so when I listen to something by a new band, or a new recording from an orchestra...>...>Anon, is this...>...turning you on?>"Life Is A Song Worth Singing">Teddy Pendergrass>It's on the bottom left shelf under "T">Put that on while I go get ready
>>77707211>>77706866Thank you! The pose in the original looked stiff, that's why I decided to start from scratch.
