It also makes the game shorter, and progression less earned and meaningful. So i'd say remove the ability to change time and flesh out the villagers more like everyone has been asking for like the past decade, maybe have less so they can be distinct from each other. They will obviously never add romance but they should ape personas social link system to enhance you connection with the animals and make it sadder when they leave.
