I have no idea how he got it or if it's even legit, but it looks real.
Still no mentioning of romance or if Judy and Nick falls in love. It only keeps referring to their relationship as a "partnership"

>The theme of this movie is about partnerships.
>Nick [...] to say things to Judy that he would never say to anyone else.
BAKA... They are constantly dancing around WildeHopps without just coming out and saying it.

If they only would want them to be friends, they could come out and say it "no they won't be romance in Zootopia 2.
The fact that they don't do that, and whenever its asked they act coy and vague is simply teasing. And you shouldn't tease something that you don't plan on delivering.

If after everything Judy and Nick will not kiss at least once in the movie, its gonna be the biggest middle finger to all the fans that went to the movies because they hoped to see that.

I wanted 2 things from Zootopia 2
-WildeHopps confirmation
and
-Sensible worldbuilding that doesn't retcon shit

They retconned the "we mammal's evolved" narrative with "oh and reptiles also evolved btw"and we might not ever get WildeHopps. I'm fucking spiraling, I will hit myself.

I was so believing that maybe it is their intention (due to Gary being naked). It would've been so clever and fresh. But with this cinema standee that is basically impossible now.

1 talking reptile like Gary can be explained like "he is just a really smart pet like a parrot, like Iago in Aladdin"

A tortoise, a frog, a lizard and a jesus lizard ALL wearing clothes...
if this reached this stage of the writing, they can't undo this till release.

barely any mention of reptiles. Like there are barely mentioned like "oh yeah Maplesticks is obsessed with reptiles".

Including reptiles and snakes is a HUUUGE fucking thing, you'd think there is more emphasis on this in the production notes. Nope its just a throwaway information.
>"Oh yeah we wanted to include reptiles" - Byron
Ok but "Why"? Because if you add something to a world, that something should serve a some sort of narrative purpose. Character species in fantasy is are tools, and you should utilize tools the best you can. Imagine if How to Train your Dragon suddenly would've introduced...

>>78088839
>pic related
they really included reptiles only because they looked good in their heads not because they actually had a good idea for a story that explains why they were absent in the first place.
>>
>>78093583
if How to Train your Dragon suddenly would've introduced...
>misclicked and posted it before I finished this sentence

all sorts of other mythological beings, like Pegasus and Syrens and Harpies and Goblins etc. What purpose would they serve in the narrative? Beside repeating the "humans need to respect nature, they are not our enemies, they only fight back because we attack" storyline.
>>
>>78093583
Im actually pretty sure its possible that Byron just saw some of the early fanart stuff where people included reptiles in their short comics etc made him think "Ah yes of course, this would be the next logical step, people will love more zany characters, lets do it!". And from then on it was just etched in his mind that they needed to have reptiles for Z2 to be interesting.
>>
>>78094904
I don't even remember zootopia comics that had reptiles in them. There was maybe 1 or 2 fanarts, but very few fan-comic artists included them in stories

and nsfw artists, but lets not count that as source.
>>
>>78094904
there were some early zootopia concept arts that included reptiles, like there was an aligator sitting at a café.

But that was before the entire predator-prey conflict was thought up. And to make THAT narrative work, they had to make the creative decision to exclude birds and reptiles from the setting.

Now they either thought up a REASON why they aren't there in the city 9 years ago when they made that decision, or they waved it off with "we will come up with something if we ever make a sequel". And this sofar, feels like the second. Where there was no thought put behind it, and so it actively needs to do RETCONs to fit the lizards into the setting.

I just feel like... if you just gonna retcon something so fundemantal as the setting and language of mammals talking about themselves as the only people using "mammal/animals/people/ladies and gentlemammals" all interchangably." thats just taking a dump on the thousands of hours of dedication fans put into analyzing your work in celebration of it. If you retcon the stuff that people LIKED in your setting, you not making it for the fans!

I really really hope I'm wrong and there is some twist, but reptiles being just illegal/homeless people hiding in the underbelly of Zootopia is... something a first-graded would come up with. It's not well thought out! It's not interesting because it cannot be theorized or explained it just IS for no proper rhyme or reason!

Like putting a fucking dragon into the setting and just say "oh yeah they were casted out because they set a building on fire"

Na it died real fast. But I remember it circulating a lot in the early days and the art was competent so I imagine it stuck in the mind for many.
>>
>>78105590
I honestly have an archive brain, I can list almost all the prominent Zootopia fan-artists like Kulkum, Akirik, Link, Tggeko, TgWeaver, WywernWeaver, Mead everyone that contributed big to the fandom's worldbuilding and keeping it alive for the last 9 years, and almost nobody used reptiles.

The majority of the fandom agreed its would be a lazy and thoughtless way to introduce more diversity to the setting when you can just add more of the mammals that didn't appear like Skunks, Hyenas, Jackals, Anteaters etc.

I seriously don't know what reptiles will add to the setting thats not gonna be super un-relatable
>>
>>78105794
Nothing, thats what Im saying. Like in that comic strip. Its just something thats uniquely different and therefore sticks in the mind as a natural way to one up the first movie in a visually and conceptually immediate way thats easy to grasp for anyone.
Only problem is, more isnt always better but clearly whats visually interesting is more important than if it makes logical sense as a whole for the director.
>>
>>78106173
my main problem is that the body size-species richness distribution pattern demands, that smaller creatures (such as rabbits) exist in much much larger numbers than larger creatures (such as bulls, horse, wolves, elephants)

this idea demands that lizards, who are about the size of Judy or smaller, would exist in numbers that EQUALS the entire population of Zootopia.

So HOW the hell is there only so few lizards and snakes that they all hide out on a boat in the outskirts of Marsh Market? The creators put so much attention into adapting the ecosystem into a civilized society in the first movie in a realistic way, and here we have basic fundamental impossibilities.

I can't come up with a headcanon to make this make sense, except for reptile genocide... like making reptiles a methaphor for Native Americans, which 90% of the world's population will see as another "Dancing with the wolves" narrative thats already overdone.
>>
>>78106243
I said it before, I will say it again:
The snake was a bad idea
>>
>>78108288
The problem is I could think up 5-6 ways how to turn it into a good idea, how to make it a good story. But they are going with the laziest, least convincing version.
>>
>>78108288
>Good idea

A, Reptiles were abscent because they were once pets but Zootopia enacted a pet-ban policy due to someone posing a murder as if the victim was killed by its own pet reptile

B, Reptiles are semi-sapient wild animals, like monkeys and due to their lacks of reasoning skill and understanding of laws they are kept out of the cities and Gary's appearance is treated the same way as if a bear or lion would appear in the human city.

C, Reptiles are tribal people, with little understanding of modern civilization and they don't like the noise scary city of the mammals, so they stay in the jungles and forests. Gary's is like a comedic situation like Jungle2Jungle (1997) comedy flick.

D, Reptiles, are intelligent, just like in most disney cartoons like Bambi, Lion King and Finding Nemo, all animals always understood eachother. Reptiles simply are not interested in becoming civilized and live according the rules of nature in the forests and jungles. It's their choice

E, Reptiles are wild animals usually, but a few like Gary were test subjects of the crazy genius that invented the climate wall, who gave them the ability of speech / but the consciousness of mammals into reptile bodies. After the Lynxleys killed the inventor his these smart-reptiles escaped and live in their own secret community because they feel like they neither belong among mammals, nor their own wild reptile relatives.

>Bad Idea

Reptiles are civilized, cloth wearing, intelligent people, that are just casted out by the mammal society due to racism/ being framed for a crime they didn't commit over a 100 years ago

Well this one is actually interesting. We do see Nick drink something during Lionhearths arrest.

Can foxes drink coffee? Can coffeine kill a fox? An adult Humans lethal dose is around 5.000 to 10.000 miligrams of coffeine. A dog's is around 140 miligram per kilogram.

Nick is 4 feet tall and 36 kilogram. If foxes are as sensitive to coffeine as dogs Nick could survive up to 5040 mg of coffeine.

Absurdly based self-report but still HILARIOUS.

Also only of Nick being pointed out means that the point of removing him from the story on an earlier draft was probably disconnecting both, which is fair but VERY retarded for them to think the Snake would be enough to make people watch. I guess that's the few times a test group actually manages to improve a movie, to be fair it is also a movie by the directors had to have completely remake their movie with third parties for it to succeed.

its toxic to them, I know, but practically its toxic to us humans too we just have a higher tolerance than dogs.

Dogs's tolarence as I've written is around 100-140miligram per kilogram (for the weight of the dog)

A human's 150–200 miligram per kilogram (for the weight of the person)

I'm so thankful for whoever pointed out that people want to see an adventure of "Nick and Judy", and not Judy make a new scaly friend.

I am still nervous about that arrest sequence that was in the leak, I hope they threw it out, but at this point there is so much with the movie I worry about I don't know how to stay positive.

-I don't see how reptiles can be added in a believable way that won't make the city mammals unlovable and unrelatable,
-I don't know if reptiles being part of the worldbuilding will be even believeable that won't feel like backshadowing/retconning.
-I don't know if they gonna be smart enough to make Nick the protag and show the mistery and movie from his perspective
-I don't know if they will have the courage to go through and confirm wildehopps with a kiss or if they will just gonna tease and leave is where we were back at 2016

I don't want to complain, I want to be hopeful for this movie but there are so many things that can go wrong and by the rumors nearly ALL OF THEM are heading towards going wrong.

To be fair, the whole concept of Judy having a family of close to 300 is a bit silly and probably made for jokes rather than being thought through. Because really, the bunnies seem well off enough so why would they ever want so many kids? It would never work in the real life family dynamics we relate to. I get that they still have large litters but not that many.

I mean some fics like Guardian Blue even have to retcon that shit by saying bunnies are more open as a community and therefore the neighbors are like family too.
>>

I think that thats something that somewhat less of a concern because its written as a joke, and its not just guardian blue, a lot of other artists adapt the idea that when Stu said "200something brothers and sisters" he means everyone who lives with them in the burrow, including her cousins, her aunts and uncles.

And this isn't technically a retcon because nothing said or shown in the movie contradicts it. It's something built on the things that we saw and heard in the movies and made it work. So unless the sequel directly emphasizes that indeed all of those bunnies are biological siblings of Judy then we are in the clear to have this "headcanon"

Now what is a retcon is: sapient reptiles, after the movie emphasizes multiple times that
-Zootopia is a city where ALL animals come together to live in harmony
-Then go around and often refer to the people living in the city as "mammals"
which makes "people" and "mammals" and "animal" all synonyms in this universe.
Adding reptiles would indicate that mammals did not consider them people, and I'm sorry, that shit, we don't need the city to be THAT racist, nobody in modern times is THAT racist, at least nobody that would go watch a disney movie.

you can't compare a throwaway "do it and forget it" gag to a major plotpoint of a movie.

A lot of jokes don't make sense in Zootopia, like how and why would DMV employ Sloths and why would Wolf howling instinct still be strong enough that they can't stop themselves even when they want to.

But reptiles can't be just "haha, also there are funny lizards living in the sewers" joke.

Jared and Goodwin said in interviews that the reason why we didn't see any reptiles in the first movie is gonna be adressed. That's a major plotpoint. And if the explination will not be satisfying it won't be something the fandom, the fanfic-writers, the theorizers can engage with.

Judy's subconscious bias and prejudice is a realistic problem, and a relatable thing to tell a story about.

And if thats the problem that mammals fear reptiles because they see them as monsters, then what the fuck is that suppose to be a lesson of?
NOBODY in modern times are going around saying that "all asians are monstrous dog-eaters" or someshit like that. Not even children need that to be told to them!

And also this is not a good universal lesson. Remember how australia banned some children cartoon episodes that talk about "spiders are friends, don't squash them, put them outside". In australia, you don't want that to be thougt to kids, when most spiders there like the black widow can put your baby from a crib into coffin. Same thing here with venomous pit vipers being shown as the friendly snake Gary

I just want to hear 1 theory that explains how sapient-reptiles in a way that makes sense and isn't utter non-sense/retconning.

Just ONE, please someone. Tell me how

-not a single reptile had a mammal friend that stood up and defended them against being punished for a crime 1 snake did
-how did a murder done by a snake cause the entire city to drive snakes and reptiles out
-why is the reptile snake population so small
-why didn't the reptiles fight back against the injustice?
-in a 100 years there wasn't a cop competent enough to find out about this conspiracy, it has to be Nick and Judy the "supercops" that solve every big conspiracy of the city.
-reptiles despite being shunned out by society to live outside civilization, and have no money, dressing fance af instead of looking like homeless people.

I'm not watching the movie unless all this is sensibly answered and if the answer is "they just have their own country and they are immigrants" I will hit myself.

There is a specific character, a Leadbeater Possum, and she is actually the creator of the Zootopia world and Judy and Nick. She decided that another fun plot for Zootopia would be with existing Reptiles, so she added haphazardly and wrote some basic story points around them. None of what you wrote matters because she wrote it didn't matter.

its rude its what it is

I am not interested in the "Zootopians are created by a god/alien" plot, im here for GOOD theories.
>>
>>78136104
but aliens/outer gods is the only way to explain the plot
or Wish Goat
>>

Jesus Christ Wish could've been a modern original masterpiece. A new non-classic fairy-tale love-story rivaling the things like Shrek and ... I actually can't think of any cartoons that had a focus on romance and weren't based on some old fairy-tale. Tangled, Princess and the Frog are both old idea reimagined, and How To Train Your Dragon, though is new idea, it only has a romance sub-plot, not a main plot. Wish could've been the biggest hit, if Disney needs to remake and re-release a movie that's 100% it.

Fuck the DEI execs that messed with its production.

You're not going to believe this, but reptiles have been unjustly kicked out of 109 cities.

nyeeee very funny, now give some actual shit that make sense in-universe for Zootopia
>>
>>78137012
In-universe, I could see the possibility of the magical weather wall having been sabotaged by the lynxes to fluctuate temperature on a rapid scale, or output low/high frequency noise too subtle for temperature-regulated mammals to pick up on, but would make the area subconsciously uncomfortable for scalies. The actual implementation details hidden in the BookGuffin proving the sabotage deviates from the design, and all other story beats remain the same. Though, it wouldn't hold up against the narrative removal of every reptile from the city, and I honestly don't think the actual movie will either.

Not that anon, but some people just sucks shut at drawing anything that doesn't look like a fuxking kindergartener shat out something on a piece of paper mommy puts on the fridge because her little man is "special."

>Al waking up in the middle of the night and finding he has a sheep sleeping on top of him
>"Hey," he grumbles, gently nudging the kid. "Hey, get up. Time to go to bed."
>He lets down the rather sheepish sheep by sliding him off and onto the couch.
>"S-sorry about that."
>"Don't worry about it. In fact, don't even bring it up."
>"Uh, right."

>The next morning, the alpha is rudely awakened by the sound of his phone receiving a text.
>He rolls over and then stares at the ceiling for a moment before breathing in, breathing out. Then turning to his phone on the night stand.

>It takes him a moment for his brain to interpret the picture on the screen, and as soon as he recognizes the image of he and Remmy sleeping together on that couch, his eyes practically burst open and he's on his feet and out of the apartment in a matter of seconds.

>The jackal expected to hear knocking, but she didn't think it would happen quite so soon as it has. That's the diligence of her alpha for you.
>She opens the door with a much-too-sweet smile and gives her half dressed alpha a cheerful 'good morning!' before continuing.

>"I wasn't expecting such an early visit today. How are you?"
>"Avo," the alpha rumbles, blushing profusely at the woman who looks all too eager to use this against him.
>"Do not post that picture into the group chat. Do you hear me?"
>"Aww, but it's such a sweet image of you taking care of your own. You don't want everybody to see just how diligent you are in your duties?"
>"Avo, I'm serious. Delete that shit from your phone. Now."
>"Okay, okay. Your girlfriend seemed to really like it, though-"
>"WHAT?"
>>
>>78120966

>>78140649
>Al had the most conflicting feeling
>At one hand, he wanted to punish Avo by de-ranking her back to being the Omega
>On the other hand, she would 100% send the photo then, since she can't be punished further.
>As a result everyone would think that Remmy's promotion from Omega came through some unconventional negotiation tactics.

lmao, loved this green and love this pic!

>>

I give it another 12 months before we can't tell anymore if something was made by Ai or not. For now there are still plenty of little cues that are quite glaring, but it's continually getting better and better.

>And if thats the problem that mammals fear reptiles because they see them as monsters, then what the fuck is that suppose to be a lesson of?
>NOBODY in modern times are going around saying that "all asians are monstrous dog-eaters" or someshit like that. Not even children need that to be told to them!

I take it you haven't watched the evening news lately?
>>
>>78169256
not sure if you refer to the idiotic politics problems of the US where left and right people both treat the other as monsters based on theri BELIEFS

or if you refer to the armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia where both sides treats eachother as monsters based on nationality

or if you mean the izrael palestine conflict where 2 groups treat eachother as monsters based on religion.

My problem is: that all these groups ignore the fact that they are both PEOPLE like them. They don't appear different they just live different.

A zootopian good methapor would be for that fight between Spotted and Striped Hyenas or Deers vs Antelopes or Rabbits vs Squirrels.

To make a conflict so large to make it mammal vs reptile is like trying to represent a conflict between Every European fighting Every Asian. It's too broad, it's to muddy, it's too dramatic and it can't be taken seriously.
