FAQ
Q: I'm a total beginner. Where should I start?
A: Do the exercises in either "Keys to Drawing" by Bert Dodson or "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards. Additionally, you can try the first few lessons of https://drawabox.com/ for building up muscle memory.

It's hard to tell when the art is as minimalistic as it is, but all looks good here
The thing that stands out to me the hardest is the bases of the strand, elongated towers at the top of the round part of the head (it's impossible to describe this in more sensible terms)

Mostly that they just don't look quite round enough

Man, it's like I ran out of juice or something. I haven't been able to draw at all these past two weeks. I've been doing warm-ups, but when it comes to actually doing something, I just fruitlessly throw lines onto my canvas.
What do you guys do when you're fresh out of ideas/motivation?

It would behoove you to remember. Nothing comes from nothing and the way you draw most certainly doesn't come from nothing either. It's clearly a style, but to make all those decisions specifically with proportions and assets either comes from you own failing in creating direct reality (Doubt) or some artist you saw very early in the game who you liked the work of best.

I think my lazy ass will finally finish this one this weekend. I've experimented with removing some of the lines outlining the leg muscles and instead used shading to outline them
>>
>>78485911
unironically this looks pretty good, i recently have been using the same tactic of using shading to define areas and almost always i like it more than if i just used lineart. the only thing i can nitpick should be taken with a heavy dose of salt because my grasp on anatomy isn’t that strong but his legs look a little stumpy. the i think the lower halves of his legs below the knees are just a little bit too short to feel proportionate and heavy emphasis on maybe i think his ankles are a little bit too thick. overall though it’s looking very professional.

if you want to plausibly match anatomies like that either take creative liberties or get down to dirty details. the fox occiput is way shorter than that of a human so it probably has to be moved forward a bit to meet the neck in an equivalent place (while not forgetting that fluff will make this not so trivial)

I do also wonder if the red carries significance... there were some psychological study thing where they color swapped the red vs blue taekwondo fights and showed them to judges, and the judges would repeatedly favor the red colored combatant, despite it being the same footage.

So i guess we see red as more aggressive and a "go-getter".

I wanted to dedicate an entire page for he objective and the villain of this story. The narration part was an idea I had that I went with. It's very clunky so it doesn't work all that good. But honestly this entire comic is am excitement

This is probably the most stand out page because of the way I drew it. It's pretty clear this was drawn at least a week after gr previous page but I have hard time remembering.
Also in general the direction this pages goes, I was in a particular mood and wanted to see some horrifying violence while still attempting to go for a pg6 rating (that's why this comic in its entirety has way less sex appeal than anything else I draw)

And the final page has given through the most change despite the fact that it was the first and only planned page.
Yesterday when I was done with literally half the page I kinda looked at the whole thing and thought
"This was actually fun" despite the unreal amount of time I took
The original version, If I ever drew it, had mawile in the last panel point at a TV and declare "this show is stupid, let's watch something else" meaning that the whole comic is just a TV show we few through a 3rd party.
But now I kinda want to take another 3 months or so to draw a conclusion.
The real world reason why it ends here btw is because my paper blog ran out of pages so I made a limit of pages more easily.
Story wise I wanted to end it with small but cryptic reveal since my narration is a bit lacking.
The so called "throne" I've been referring too in this story is the froslass(the villain) desire of capturing collecting every living Pokemon which is referred to as a living sex by he community because only the most hardcore and jobless players do this
So its a endless hungering never ending dream. You will join either way. Death is a certainty, escape is not an option

Thank you for reading

incredible work anon, especially since you’re doing this traditionally and don’t have the time saving luxuries of a digital program. those last two pages look really good with how you use the text and space out the panels perfectly. this is the kind of stuff id dream of making in a few years, loooove me some comics.

I think I can kinda see the sonic element of it, but it's clearly taken over by the anime porn element. Either way if you feel lost and want to improve you should probably search for modern inspiration that actually pushes you to do as such. Search the internet for artist you admire and put them apart of a list. you're not going to get anywhere spinning your wheels and doing exactly what you've already been doing (Plus the option being provided is an easier pill to swallow vs telling you to just look at IRL reference and learn from that ect)

I wouldn't really call coffee a stimulant. That word brings to mind something more to the tune of methamphetamine in my book. But to answer your question, I can't say I do more than an occasional cup of tea to start the day off, maybe a second cup somewhere along the line if others in the household are having some. Coffee tends to kick my stomach into overdrive, so it's more hindrance than help in most circumstances.

Have you tried watching the video?
Basically, it's contour drawing, but you're drawing the contours before the actual shape. The spirals can help a lot with sketching out 3d organic shapes and foreshortening.
If you aren't familiar with contours or foreshortening, I'd put the video on a "watch later" playlist and start looking into those subjects.
>>
>>78512536
Do something you're familiar with to ease yourself back into the groove. A favourite character (whether your own or otherwise), your own room, an object with sentimental value, whatever your preferred type of subject matter happens to be. If you've drawn it before, you'll also be able to compare it against the old work and take notes on what skills of yours have rusted the worst and are in need of a good polish next.

>Does a Greatsword have a specific shape to it or is it just a really big sword?
Greatsword's something of an umbrella category for any blade that's too large for single-handed use, so if that's your only criteria, it really does boil down to "big fuck-off sword." There are many specific types of greatsword with a more specific look, however, such as the Zweihänder or the Claymore (which comes in two variants, with the less famous lowland variant pictured here) to name a few well-known ones.

As an FYI Aaron Blaise has some of his art tutorial series on his website on sale for 1$ each. I enjoy his Youtube stuff so I went ahead and bought some and even taking a cursory glance at them they have been incredibly useful and have given me a lot of tips and tricks to instantly improve my art. I know this sounds like some kind of paid shill but I genuinely just love his tutorials and recommend grabbing a couple of these (especially the human anatomy one) while they're so cheap. He does a really good job of just outlining all the essential stuff in a clear way.

Nothing really wrong owing to the simplistic art style - the right shoulder looks weird, though. Both of them do. If it's raised because she's reclining on one arm, pushing her right arm up and her left arm down, her right shoulder should be further back and her left further down, with a slope between her shoulders and the base of her neck.

You learn to draw by
