I barely played tri/3U but I think adding a underwater setting to the franchise is a cool idea. I like the idea of swimming in the locale and checking out all the fishies and watching all the small monsters swim below or hell just looking at non aquatic monsters attempt to swim from below would be funny
I dont know I just like the underwater atmosphere I guess

Alright, here's the results of testing jiggle physics on Jaggia's ears. Another tool has been added to my animator's toolbox.

I have to say though, I'm profoundly disappointed in you anons right now. Here I am feeling like I've unlocked the secrets of the universe, and yet there was no enthusiasm for my discoveries.
Can nobody else see it? The glorious future that awaits us?
Are you unable to visualize that moment, that slight ripple that runs up Anjanath's thighs with each heavy step?
How about giving Espinas or Uth Duna a belly rub, watching as it flexes and moves under your touch?
Or is my own personal fetish of snuggling up against my monster waifu, her hide pressing in slightly as we engage in loving, post-marriage clawholding, too extreme for these threads?

I thought I was among fellow anons who had taste for the finer, more exquisite things in life, but I may need to reevaluate that assessment now...

All of them. The way the MH formula is set up, you only ever get to see and explore a small little section of a much larger area. There's so much out there that we don't get to see.
For example, in World, I really wanted to go explore that archipelago chain off the coast of Wildspire Waste, especially the big island to the east. Surely there's some unique and interesting ecology happening out there.
Could also incorporate some swimming/underwater stuff into it, like >>78455135 said.

Also >>78425910
I didn't end up responding to this before the thread ended. I don't really want to be transformed into anything; I would happily volunteer to remain as a human, so that those of you who did take up the offer to transform could fulfill your innermost desires to receive snout rubs and other associated things.
But if I absolutely had to? Well, I know which monster I would pick, but for the sake of the thread I'll make it a bit more fun.

I would let you anons decide what monster I transform into for a day. Could be one that you think fits with my perceived personality, or maybe you'd just want to troll me with a monster that probably wouldn't be enjoyable to live as, or any other reason.

Hey, Newfound Nobles Anon, I have returned once more to that render I made for you several months ago, because I recently realized that I inadvertently did you dirty on that one.

In a nutshell, back then I was completely unaware of a concept called Tonemapping, and what it means in the context of Blender. It's too much for me to try and explain on here, but I encourage everyone ITT with even a little interest to look it up, because it's genuinely fascinating.
Basically, the part that matters is that it's a way to simulate content, that has a higher dynamic range than what TVs/monitors/etc are physically capable of displaying. In other words, converting HDR to SDR. The effect of doing this, is that you get super realistic lighting, highlights, shadows etc. However, it also produces severely unsaturated, washed out colors.
I knew that the colors I was getting out of my early renders seemed off, but I could never understand why until just recently. I learned that the intended proper workflow is to actually finish out your renders/animations with manual color grading and other adjustments, either directly in Blender or in other popular software like Resolve.

If any of you may have noticed the colors in my work getting better after I started working on Kulu stuff, this is why.
Yet another of those certified Blender Momentsâ„¢, where you can go completely unaware of core tools/functionality for months, or even years.

Anyway, here you go, hopefully the final version, now with the colors manually graded to my original artistic vision for the piece. The sky is actually proper blue now instead of that weird dark blue/grey thing going on, and Russell is now nice and vibrant, as a Rathalos should be.
Speaking of, I also discovered that the shader system was slightly out of whack; Russell and Aria's bodies had a reflective index equivalent to glass kek. Way too shiny.
If you want, I can send you a 4k version of the image. Also, do you mind if I post this piece elsewhere?

But in all seriousness, I have conflicting feelings about this. On one hand I fear about how things like this will affect the motivation of people who spend all their time animating clips like these by hand. Sure, it will be hard to let it generate complex scenes, but for short clips like these? Looks like all you need is a reference image.
But on the other hand, it's more monster content... Wholesome monster cuddles are more than enough to satisfy my needs. That Wroggi is beyond cute. Thanks for sharing.
*Small edit at the end, I just noticed the human like feet and hands on that Wroggi and it's too uncanny to unsee now. Jank like this, in addition to valuing the effort put into it, is why I will always prefer traditional/assisted over purely generated work.*

>Can nobody else see it? The glorious future that awaits us?
Please forgive me. It is indeed hard to understand the technical aspects if you aren't familiar with 3d or animation. I just know that it takes a lot of time and effort which is why I will always appreciate even the smallest clips or render. Not everything will be a masterpiece, but I hope you keep going so you eventually reach the level you aspire. I know I should comment more on oc work that get shared here. So, I just want you to know that more than the pics and clips it's your journey and excitement for it that brings me joy to watch. It really helps to show that there are actual passionate people behind the work that gets shared here.

If you're the same anon from last thread you need to chill for a moment. AI is basically never posted here, so why make such a deal out of it? I understand that simply by it's nature, AI slop can get created and spammed really fast, but that's clearly not happening here.
If we see an uprise of low effort/variety AI slop like /scaly/ did a year or so ago, I'll be one of the first to suggest grouping them in one post with an external link.

Yeah, I did it just for fun and to see what this AI was capable of generating (and to what extent I could bypass the filter). I always appreciate human work rather than doing something like this from scratch (and after all, it's my own artwork). However, I would love to see some AI that could help us correct inconsistencies or improve certain aspects of an animation. For example, the way the hair reacts in Jaggia's video, or how Wroggi's sack gets pressed... It could save a lot of time and headaches.

>>78507135
As long as it's not spammed and it's not absolute trash like most generated "art", I don't mind it. We can't talk about "standards" in a thread in which most have very questionable taste and standards (including mine). Just do what I do when I see something I don't like here: ignore it, unless the whole thread becomes about that.

Should we ban all 3d animation and renders to /3/, all anthros to /hmofa/ or similar, all feral monsters to /ff/, monster like Anjanath or Girros to /scaly/? I don't like all content that gets posted here but you don't see try dictate what others are allowed to enjoy. AI in these threads is literaly less than 1%, just ignore and skip over the content you don't like. Or if you have to announce your opinion, try to engage in an actual discussion.

AI has its own threads because of how easy it is to churn out btw. It's fine now but I've seen threads become slop dumps so I get the distaste.
>>
>>78508377
I was about to say the same. I'm fine with AI pics being posted sparingly, but being able to generate so many images so quickly can lead to invasive spam in non-AI focused threads.
>>
>>78508377
>>78508490
So... many here agree that as long as it's not being spammed, it's fine... and that's what's happened here so far. He only posted three videos, and they are generated from his own art (unlike what most people post in those AI threads, stealing the style of others). So I don't get the fuss, as if suddenly the thread has been filled with AI crap. What's next? Crying because someone posts a few vore pictures? Because someone posts about transformation? Because someone posts a felyne? Do we want the same type of content posted over and over again so that this thread becomes more dead than the hopes of Wilds getting a real performance update? Relax a little and don't act like the average twittard.

Considering no one fusses over those to this degree of bickering, it's safe to say no one gives a real shit about anything posted here but AI.

You must be new here if you think that the anons who posted that kind of content in the past didn't receive the same level of backlash the first time they posted it. And maybe I'm also forgetting other types of questionable content. And what happened with that? Many left, leaving the thread with the same anons posting the same images over and over again. Only a few years later, a few dared to post that content again and saw that, actually, >no one gives a real shit about anything posted here. Only a very few, like you now, complained.

Therefore, I'll encourage other anons to contribute with their MH-related content, as long as it's varied and not spam. Acting like a police only encourages people to leave the thread. In fact, this thread is almost always dead in activity. If you want curated content, go and create your own thread and make that clear in the first post. Let's see how long it lasts.

There was some pointless speculation about it on /v/ more than 15 years ago, as a means to justify shit like no fall damage and other superhuman feats, so something like Chinese whispers can be believed. Frontier or not would be irrelevant; hardly anyone in the west gave a flying fuck about the game and got most of their information from Rhyperior's webms until private server software leaked. Not to mention that those hunters are something else when you have like 15-20 fucking armor skills and the transcendence buff being an honest-to-god powerup state.

I don't know which anon you're referring to, unless it's the anon(s) having an autistic meltdown above.

>On one hand I fear...
Well, as the one who has been trying to learn how to animate, I'll tell you exactly how I feel: It's very hurtful and demoralizing.
Not even a few days after I enthusiastically posted about my discoveries with optimism, here's some gens made with a click a button, demonstrating some of the very things I was talking about, done at a level that I may or may not ever be able to replicate myself. How do you think I'm supposed to feel about that?

See, the fact of the matter is that while we rightfully call it slop, it's mostly exquisite on a technical level. This is true for both video like Sora 2/Grok, and images via normal SD gens; at their best, the pure technical skill of what's being produced is beyond what 99% of people who try will ever be able to do themselves.
However, where this falls apart, at least for now, are the fundamental flaws with LLM tech itself. It's unable to reach that last mile to give it true authenticity. That's why how with an even moderately trained eye, you're able to tell that even the best current gens are AI just from a glance at the thumbnail. Despite the high technical skill being replicated, they all still have that "look", with few exception, no matter what kind of tuned model, lora or other tricks you throw at it.
Big tech and world governments are desperate to try and brute force LLM past that final threshold though, with the untold billions/trillions they're dumping into it. They're the real ones who benefit from it, after all.
>>
>>78521027
Regardless of all that, the reality of our post-2022 world has created a sort of Sword of Damocles situation. It's one thing if you've been around for years and have already thoroughly established yourself, but for people like me who are trying to start from nothing? It's an absolutely miserable prospect.
While I don't personally believe that LLM tech will be able to make that last jump in advancement, at least not without new revolutionary tech coming out, there's always that figurative sword of "What if?" hanging over the head.
What if it actually does happen? What if the potential hundreds, even thousands of hours that I may spend learning a craft, become irrelevant overnight?
What if even after a thousand hours, I'm still unable to make Wroggi's poison sacs squish and stretch and jiggle, in the same way that millions of hours worth of illegally sourced training data can?

Speaking of training data, that's another thing which sours the mood and motivation; knowing that anything and everything I make will just be fed into the machine, regardless of if I consent to it or not.
Anyway, this is turning into a ramble, as I'm trying to express too many different thoughts and feelings for a place like this, so I'll wrap it up.

The bottom line is, the state of our world sucks. LLM AI is yet another divisive net negative on humanity, that has been heaped on top of the pile of all the other problems we have. It's invasive, and has become thoroughly infested in the spaces that I once sought out, to escape thinking about just how bad things really are, for at least a few minutes.

I don't want to see it anywhere, to be reminded of it constantly, but I know it's not going to go away; or at least not in my lifetime. While I do look down on any AI posting, I've long moved past getting mad over it and calling it out. It's never productive to do so; all it does is shit up the spaces it happens in(see above), and the majority of people who are pro-AI don't give a shit about what other people think anyway, they're devoid of empathy and will likely never change their stance on the matter.
Doesn't help that there's the significant crowd who came out of the woodwork, who practically make it their job to be actively antagonistic and demeaning towards others who speak out against it. Much like janitors, they do it for free, too. Very sad.
(Just like some ITT who I won't bother engaging with. Probably /scaly/ posters; there's quite a few like that over there. Misanthropanon casts a deep shadow upon that general...)

Just to be clear, I'm not mad at Ivory for posting what he posted, but he just chose some piss poor timing to do so, which ended up hitting me a bit close to home, so to speak. It's also why I chose to comment on it, rather than just letting it go like normal.
Having to go through this regular mental battle of trying to decide whether to keep up the effort despite the risks, or just give up and move on to avoid the heartache is very tiresome.
I'm weary. There isn't much I wouldn't give to be able to rewind the clock a few decades, or be swapped over to a different timeline.

Going to sleep for a thousand years often sounds wonderful as well. Imagine getting a Planet of the Apes kind of situation out of that, except instead of apes, you wake up to an Earth full of genetically engineered, sapient raptors that took over after humanity got wiped out, or something like that.
Living out the rest of my days like that would be pretty kino, I think.

Anon, you sound like a cool guy with a big heart so I just had to come in and comment with my dumb thoughts. You CANNOT get mad at anons for a lack of engagement with your posts. There may be a number of reasons that no one replied to you, but it isn't in the interest of your health to really feel bad that you got a minimal number of replies to an in-progress update. Yes, you can feel excited that you are learning new skills, but to expect a lot of engagement for posting something like that is not healthy. You can put dozens of hours into applying jiggly physics to Jaggia's ears, and I'm sure a lot of anons thought "Oh, neat." but didn't exactly feel like making a reply or posting something beyond a word or too, and that's ok. As someone who poured a lot of effort into making things in the past, I rarely RARELY posted much WIP stuff. It's so much different for 3D renders than it is for a traditional artist posting a sketch, I much rather preferred to minimally engage with the thread before dumping my completed stuff. If the thread really appreciates your work, you will then see engagement and accolades, and even if I didn't see much traction, I just chalked it up to not being my best work and started on the next thing. Anyway, that's my $.02...

The biggest trap a creator can fall into is conflating a lack of response with a lack of interest. You do that and you're training yourself to see anything other than express praise as hateful criticism, which detaches you from reality and breeds bitterness toward imagined slights.

And yes, I saw that /s, but I'm gonna bet you genuinely had those insecurities and tossed it out as a joke to test the waters. And if I missed the mark, ignore me.
>>
>>78521047
I truly understand your points, but don't let that discourage you. Did this take just a click to generate? Yeah. Was it *exactly* what I wanted to see? Nope. It took many attempts and it still fucks up doing weird shit. At simple glimpse it may look "woah" but the more you stare at it, the more mistakes and weirdness arises, something that characterizes AI generated content of any kind. I always think and say that AI shouldn't be used to create art from scratch, it should be used as an assisting tool, like many others. Like when someone draws scales on a drawing using a brush instrad of drawing them one by one. For 3D art or animations, it could be great to fix some stuff or add effects that are a pain to do manually or take ages to render.

>demonstrating some of the very things I was talking about, done at a level that I may or may not ever be able to replicate myself. How do you think I'm supposed to feel about that?

It's a matter of attitude. I would feel challenged and demonstrate that with enough practice I can do something similar, an especially, the way I want it. AI will never do exactly what you ask. But you can do exactly what you want. As an example, the other day I saw someone generating art in the style of another artist (I think the artist was "the crab mage"). He saw it and instead of crying or taking an extreme decision like ruining his own artwork with "anti AI measures", he said "lmao, I can do better than that shit" and drew the exact same scene.

These videos can be VERY useful as a reference to how you want to animate things: you see the movements and you can quickly tell if it looks realistic or not, you can then learn how to replicate most of it, and do your own variations, etc. Yeah, takes time and practice, but it's useful as a quick reference and ideas. At least, that's what I use it for. None of my art is or will be AI generated or assisted (aside from upscaling textures)

The post about the "discoveries" I was referring to, was a post I made in the previous thread not long before it hit the bump limit. It's expected that it wouldn't get much of a response, if any.
I took advantage of that to try and make some thread humor with those overly dramatic, rhetorical questions. /s meant /s.

The subject of AI assistance has a lot of facets and nuance to it; far more than is appropriate to try and discuss ITT.
I will say this though. It's a very fine line and potential slippery slope between having it save you time and effort in fulfilling your own vision, versus it becoming the vision itself for you.
For example, I would personally not be comfortable importing a genned video into Blender, and using it as a frame by frame reference guide while animating. To me, that's no different than the plague of people who trace over SD gens and call it their own. Also, I can already hear the
>Uhm ACHTUALLY people have been using references and comprehensive guides for hundreds of years and-
Yes, they have. It's a good point, but again, not the place for that kind of discussion. This is the Wyverian basket weaving forum, not the ethics committee.
>>

Personally, I'm really looking forward to some of the non-AI advances in tech that are in the works as the speak. Have you seen the recent buzz over OGC cloth physics?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ccqBMkSriA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NF3CdXkm68

There's also that absurdly performant hair/fur system, which I forget the name of at the moment, that has been rotting behind a patent, which I believe finally expires in like 2027 or 28.
The point being that in the relatively near future, things like easy complex interactions between cloth, skin, tissue etc, along with almost fully realistic hair and fur, are going to practically become solved issues without the need for AI to do it for you, also without the need to have a crazy 5090/threadripper type rig.

Anyway, let's just move on from this little incident now. We'll probably forget about it in a thread or two anyway.
>>
>>78527382
Alright, this is really annoying. Let me reiterate what I've said in prior threads: My primary motivation to learn to animate, was to fulfill my own long held dream of being able to recreate all the things I imagine and see within my mind's eye. It's a very selfish pursuit at its core.
Being able to share that work with others, and possibly bring them some enjoyment, is a secondary benefit.
Posting my little bits of progress here was meant to bring some of that enjoyment, to fellow people who are passionate like me about the Monster Hunter universe.

If you anons genuinely think that I'm just chasing after attention and clout by doing so, then if you want I can just stop doing that and fuck off for awhile, and instead simply post whenever I have finished, major works completed.
Posting the little things aren't worth it, if that's what your perception of me is going to be.

>Have you seen the recent buzz over OGC cloth physics?
I've seen the second video. Even with my limited knowledge of simulations (mostly from pretty youtube animations) I could see how much better this new method is. The one with the knot tying was absolutely crazy to me. Even shared it with a few friends.
I am however not educated enough in that topic to make assumptions on how (or better when) this will get implemented in current 3d tools or videogames. Could've been useful for extreme bone chains for Wilds' cloth physics that I've seen.
>>
>>78527926
Supposedly someone has already made a prototype implementation of OGC into Blender, though no proof has been shown yet.
Regardless, there's plenty of active discussion about OGC happening within the Blender community right now, and the papers documenting exactly how it works were made publicly available, and are supposedly relatively simple from a mathematics perspective to implement.
I'm optimistic that we'll see it soon-ish. Maybe not in Blender 5.0, but one of the subsequent updates, like 5.2 or 5.3.

Imagine the physically accurate simulations of getting Arkveld's arm chains tied into a knot.

Personally I’m not putting anything past Gypceros’ stretchy whip tail, that thing is literally MADE to beat hunter ass.

Relying on mantles, huh? Well then...
The Guild doesn't want you to know this, but there's this little unsanctioned piece of equipment called the Bromelia Mantle. You don't know what REAL power is until you've felt that woven, spined amalgamation protecting, and perhaps even enhancing your body. Not that I know anything about that, of course.

If I did know anything, it would be the rumors of a certain m- ...individual, who may be able to supply you with one. For a price.

>BREAKING NEWS! THE RENOWNED WRITER V. HANA IS INTO VORE!
>Strange day in the coral highlands, where the reclusive writer was spotted with a naked hunter halfway down her throat.
>Witnesses declare she quickly coughed up her lover after noticing she wasn't alone, and proceeded to flee the scene while mumbling about "a huge misunderstanding".
>The hunter, after recovering from the ordeal, told our crew he would "like to do it again, but without being interrupted next time". He then proceeded to loudly describe the experience to the gathering crowd while showing photos of the Elder in various out-of-the-ordinary acts.
>A Legiana that was near the scene declared that "[she] knew that smug bitch couldn't even hold down a single human".
>Vore as a phenomenon was still restricted to a few adepts, but the coming out of the famous writer might bring some major changes, as already groups of curious monsters are looking for experienced partners to try out this new fad.
>The Frost Elder was seen at her nest in the Hoarfrost Reach later that afternoon, but declined any further interview.

This is all lies and slander! I, a fellow Elder Dragon, by the name of P. Malzeno of the Frost Islands, know Ms. Ana to be of quite reputable stuff. Though I have never met her, I cannot help but feel this to be all a misunderstanding! For who among us has not put a smaller creature in one's mouth for dental hygiene? I can name exactly one irredeemable curr who most likely has not: that damned drug addict Malzeno! And even moreso, when one finds a Hunter of the 'smaller' stature to love, who here hasn't found a way to "make it work"? I will assuredly not go into any further details, but I'm sure those with larger bodies (and open minds) can piece things together! Yes, no one was harmed in this stunt, and such I feel it should NOT be a stain on such an upstanding Elder Dragon's character! So I say: if there wasn't BLOOD--then everything's probably GOOD!

>Debate rages on about the morality of the act. "It's completely safe if adequate precautions are taken" says local Rathian, "and if all parties are consenting, where's the harm?". Further dialogue was interrupted by multiple turf wars breaking out at the same time.
>V. Hana still denies being involved despite report from multiple eyewitnesses, to the outcry of many monsters accusing her of being bigoted.

>showing photos of the Elder in various out-of-the-ordinary acts.
>if there wasn't BLOOD--then everything's probably GOOD!
I have a strange fascination with the dangerous physical aspect of monsters and would love to personally explore them with a monster careful enough that it won't end in a bloody mess. Be it their sharp claws or teeth. The talons of flying wyverns like Rathalos, the raw power of brute wyverns like Anjanath, the cunning speed of raptor like bird wyverns. Specifically, Izuchi's tail scythe, the three pronged tail of Malzeno or the stabby icicle tail of Velkhana, Hirabamis weird grasping clawblades or Nargacugas wingblades.

Just imagine the talons of a monster gently press against your chest, or their jaws closing around your waist. Feeling their claws and teeth against your skin, but not breaking it. The thrill of danger, but also something deeper... respect, trust, affection...

>It can't be hygienic!"
Sadly this might be the case for many monster. Even simple smooches could prove dangerous if your immune system isn't strong enough to handle the kind of bacteria or other germs found on monsters. Theirs of course would be stronger due to their constant exposure to the wilds.

This is why I often find myself sideline these aspects of monster biology. It's just more fun if you don't have to worry about getting sick or dirty and can focus on the more 'sensory' stimuli.
