Just found this, how is AI gonna effect cyoas?
>>78596331Some people AI generate images for their CYOAs but AI is too stupid to keep lore/setting/goal consistent and actually generate a whole CYOA.
>>78596331didn't post the image like a dummy
>>78596331>>78596367Honestly we don't even really have AIs, since "generative AIs" aren't really capable of problem solving or reasoning in any real sense (at least when dealing with novel situations they can find a script for). Hell even the perception part is questionable since you have to pretty heavily curate their inputs or they make like a character in a bad Lovecraft knock-off and go insane from being exposed to things beyond their comprehension.Generative LLMs will probably be able to put out some pretty "meh" slop eventually. But over-all I doubt they'll have much effect in this niche.
>>78596576Dubs
>>78596576rollin'
>>78596331Attempts at "AI" generated cyoa have been made and posted and the best of them was garbage. The worst was unreadable crap in a grid format. It's not happening any time soon, but just like in businesses, idiots who think computers are magic, don't understand how anything works, and have zero ability to judge their own output quality will keep throwing slop at everyone and insisting it's perfection. The effect of ai on CYOAs will be the same as on everything else. Making it harder to find anything with quality in the eventual sea of fetid ai slop.
>>78595561This has probably been mentioned, but on pg. 1.32 (Curses) there is text overlap with the first & second paragraph. Also, can the Vulnerability Mutation be taken only once?
>>78598819If it doesn't say you can take it multiple times, you can't.
>>78599261Does the Celestial Transformation strictly double the Multi-Instance Entity Mutation? If you take the Dark Persona Curse does it gain one of your extra bodies or stay put in your main head?
>>78596576I wonder if it was inspired by this.
>>78600453Hard to decide if I chose Heather or Jade
>>78599750Each of Celestial's "main" bodies can buy MIE seperately, however many times they want to up to the limit. The difference is that the Celestial bodies are not MIEs themselves, so they are allowed to purchase the mutation whereas "secondary" bodies cannot (but they can bear part of the cost). Also it was WOG in a previous version.Dark Persona shares a body/mind with you, that's the whole point replacing Evil Twin. However you might be able to get away with moving to a different body after it "wins".
>>78596331Easier way to get images, I guess.
>>78596331Could probably use it to good effect with the writing side as well. For example I am wholly incapable of doing "voices", that is to say writing as if a particular character who isn't me is doing the speaking. I could probably use an AI, feed it some character traits and whatever topic I want that character to talk about, and then clean up whatever mess comes out thereby bypassing my own inadequacy.
Is the anon from the last thread making that new genie actually working on it
Post your favorite genie no younger than 10 or so months, but preferably one year and older>>78602340I hope so
Which year the first /cyoar/ threads started being posted on /trash/ again?
>>786024832017 I believe the first thread washttps://desuarchive.org/trash/thread/10209315/At the least it was made at the time that mods were kicking threads out of /d/. In fact I think that thread might have been posted on /d/ and moved to trash by the mods, not sure though.
>>78602483Idunno check the archives or something
>>78602415This was made two years ago. Time flies.
>>78602937Pevert Paradise, Mystical Journey, Dear Confort, Fucked senselessalso just noticied how awful that very last one choice is, imagine having your pic chosen just to then discover the author decided to give you the middle finger with a blatant trap option
>>78596576rollz
>>78602340There was a WIP page, so probably. Too much effort if anon was just trolling instead of actual planning.
Other than Languid Cicada's, do we have any good gladiator cyoas? I ran across my Rifts Atlantis book, and feel inspired.
Or tattoo magic. Tattoo magic would be good.
>>78596331>Just found this, how is AI gonna effect cyoasI could see people using AI to generate ideas. Particularly for cyoas with relatively straightforward premises, like the Island genre. For a cyoa like that, the lore/setting doesn't need a lot of development. (You) are stuck on the Island for a year, and have to pick at least one horror to face, while being aided by a grab bag of dysfunctional allies, weird artifacts, and abusive factional alliances. That's not very sophisticated - it's only one step away from Googling "weird fantasy character" - but it could work!
>>78601749AI is also terrible at that though. It's what burned me out on lewd AI chatbots, they all sound the same.
>>78596331I've tried using it for the sort of stuff I already don't come up with myself but it's just not very good. I get better character names by trawling through behindthename for a couple of minutes and I can rephrase things better by looking on wordhippo.
>>78595561Ok, here are more questions1 How does the Mad Queen patron boon Mad Scyon interact with Magic Seals? 2 The mutation Brood Queen allows you to make clones of yourself with different mutation. Are these clones babies or do they come out as an exact copy of you? Do they have the same powers, vows, tattoos, curses, patron, level and jobs as you or can they have different ones? Because if they can have the same powers but different mutations then you can create a clone with no mutations but all the powers, breaking the balance.3 The Magic Tattoo Faithfulness makes you not be attracted by anyone you don't love. How does this work with the rest of the cyoa? If you pick every single attraction mutation and tattoo, does this override all of that? Or does it power get reduced? 4 I guess that with the instant/hidden negative status Possess you can control a person as if that was you. Do you need to be a ghost to possess someone or can you do it with a flesh body? Is there any other way to get the same effect as Posses without using it? As in, is Possess the only way to control another's body while "being" them? (An example would be Ino from Naruto)
>>78596576I'm not rolling. I'm choosing the older daughter and the family dog. I hope she doesn't catch me cheating on her with the dog...
>>78605455That's because AI chatbots are setup to filter things through strict grammar rules. Also that they group all input data together, usually without things being tagged for tone or origin. It basically homogenizes all of the training data, it also homogenizes all of its outputs. They actually put a lot of work into making it all sound the same, not always intentionally.
>>78588892>That pic would be a good idea for a cyoa, Lobotomy Corp/RPC/SCP cyoa where you are a anomaly being contained in some way with magical or high-tech cuffs/chastity/collar and you need to escapeIf you feel inspired, the artist is Plasma-Dragon, over on DeviantArt. And he (?) is all about having his core cast of characters putting each other in bondage or brainwashing machines, so there's a lot of options for each character. Also has a folder about how to restrain various magical and superpowered characters - fire mages, psychics, cyborgs . . . - again with a "suspiciously" heavy focus on restraints that look like bondage gear.
>>78605500Not Apo, but I'll take a stab at answering>How does the Mad Queen patron boon Mad Scyon interact with Magic Seals?Divine magics trump mortal ones>2 The mutation Brood Queen allows you to make clones of yourself with different mutation. Are these clones babies or do they come out as an exact copy of you? Do they have the same powers, vows, tattoos, curses, patron, level and jobs as you or can they have different ones? Because if they can have the same powers but different mutations then you can create a clone with no mutations but all the powers, breaking the balance. Are the clones all the same entity? Or is each one their own person? If they're the same person, then it makes sense they'd have all the same boons and banes. If they're all unique entities, then it's just like having a bunch of kids, and beyond the scope of the cyoa. Either way, it doesn't screw up the balance, particularly given the personalities here on 4chan. It'd turn into a Highlander "There can be only one!" situation pretty fast.>3 The Magic Tattoo Faithfulness makes you not be attracted by anyone you don't love. How does this work with the rest of the cyoa? If you pick every single attraction mutation and tattoo, does this override all of that? Or does it power get reduced? You don't have to love someone to have sex with them. Or for them to hunt you down and lay eggs in your brain.
>>78605649>Divine magics trump mortal onesSo you could pick the seals and the patron boon and you would just get points with no downside? No all the seals, of course. But would it work with the first 4? >Or is each one their own person? My understanding is that each clone is a different entity akin to a kid. I'm doing a build base on this, so I need to know how this works. Ideally for me, the clones would just have the same basic appearance as me and be born as babies. But the description doesn't go deep enough. It just says "genetic clone" so it makes me think that my interpretation is right.>You don't have to love someone to have sex with themBut the tattoo prevents arousal too. I'm asking to know to what degree does it help you to stop you from throwing yourself at everything that moves because you are horny and you are sexually attracted to every living being. There are several mutations that increase your attraction to X (specially with tentacles). So do they all get overwritten by this tattoo because you are not in love with them, or does it end in a middle point? It enters in conflict with other tattoos too (like the tentacled tattoo) Of course, it doesn't prevent you from getting raped.
>>78605649I forgot to add that magic tattoos are Divine Magic. So Seals might also be Divine Magic? (Despite the fact they are commonly used by slavers or goblins)
>>78605788magic tattoos are only divine in nature when applied through the cyoa
>>78605857Wait, you can apply magic tattoos? I though it was only seals. Is it mentioned anywhere?
>>78605879its implied it can be done through some of the descriptions, most directly through the unity and betrothal tattoos
>>78605932You are right. Damn, I didn't know.
>>78605323Tok's battle sluts CYOA immediately springs to mind.
>>78605879Tattoos like "slave" and "servant" wouldn't make much sense if mortals couldn't apply them. Slave markets probably have their own tattoo mages on hand to process purchases and the newly enslaved.
>>78605766>no downside?Seals can wear off if you don't continuously supply them with mana. If you're completely reliant on them to manage your mutation/curse-fueled sex drive but then you stumble into a situation where you can't provide them with mana before they disappear, then you may have (figuratively and literally) royally fucked yourself over. The Faithfulness tattoo I'm less certain on, but the wording leaves a little wiggle room for uncertainty as to whether it can be overpowered, or whether it suppresses sensitivity as well.>My understanding is that each clone is a different entity akin to a kid. Given the kids are already stated to be able to have different mutations, I'm assuming that Brood Queen's cloning is just parthenogenesis and will include some genetic drift by its nature.
>>78605455Yeah but they are still less terrible than me. Autism can be like that.
>>78606180I've been using seals for a combination of free points plus reinforcing what I already want to be anyway, but it's not an absolute "if the seals fail I'm going sex crazy" or something. Probably. I mean even a mild sex drive that's been magically repressed for thousands of years could explode when a seal goes down, but it's not like I'm aiming for abstinence either. Plus it's not the only thing anyway, Faithfulness Tattoo does a lot of heavy lifting on the sex side, and Morality Curse pretty much entirely supersedes the morality seal.On the other hand, my main concerns about the seals are:>Too many seals might cost too much mana to upkeep. Even with a high-mana build there's a limit somewhere and we have no idea whether it's 10 seals or 10 million.>The entire concept is built on an extremely cheesy reading of the ruling. While you can DEFINITELY maintain your own seals without designating any "other" who has control over them, the CYOA doesn't go into detail about how those seals are controlled in that case. Assuming you can either do it yourself or at least set them permanently on character creation is the only logical option, but it's not really supported RAW.
>>78595561Question for those of you who've made more than one build: Assuming they all somehow met, how would they get along?
>>78607974Merge into a greater hivemind
>>78608342By using what mutations and powers
>>78606097That makes a lot of sense. Such a same there is no explicit indication of this.>>78606180>Seals can wear off if you don't continuously supply them with manaOnly normal seals. The ones in the cyoa stay. I guess they have divine power. >royally fucked yourself over.If you have companions you could be saved by applying another seal, but I agree that if you are alone you are fucked. But this is only with normal seals. And seals use excess mana to be maintained. We have no clue how much is this or for how long you have to go with no mana for the seal to lose its power. For all we know the seal could stay there forever, just useless until it gets more mana again. Though, I agree more with your interpretation when talking about normal seals.>I'm assuming that Brood Queen's cloning is just parthenogenesis and will include some genetic drift by its nature. So I can have normal clone babies and raise them to be whatever I want. This is perfect.>>78607337>and Morality Curse pretty much entirely supersedes the morality seal. Not really. Curses overwrite mutations and powers, but it says nothing about tattoos or seals. And morality says that you can still be mind controlled into breaking your morals. So you will be suffering even more if someone uses the morality seal to force you to do something you are morally opposed to. I agree with your concerns about the seals. They raise a lot of problems.
>>78607974I have ideas for two characters. and they would not care about each other. One would probably flee or get killed by the master of the other, so avoidance is the best course of action.
>>78608395Just merge the two artificial oversouls together they are essentially duplicates of the same creators soul
>>78607974They'd all think like me and act like me, so I imagine they would find each other mildly annoying.
>>78607974
>>78608459Not only you didn't actually explained *how* you are doing that but also now adding that it can only ne done between two AOs
>>78608638>Not only you didn't actually explained *how* you are doing that but also now addingholy ESL batmanpractically need to rewrite the entire sentence to make grammatical sense"Not only have you not actually explained how you're doing that, but now you're also adding"

>>78605553Oh no, I'm not able to do it myselfMaybe someone else can but I'm just a ideaguy
>>78607974I would get really well along with S.A.R.A. and Kirina, not with most of the others tho.
>>78608459The description of the artificial oversoul implies that they can be created, somehow. But what power can interact with souls? The only one that comes to mind is necromancy, and that's only for creating undead.
>>78607974They're all me so we'd get along obviously
>>78609106Infectious Mutations and Sharing don't estipulate a limit on which mutations can be shared and allow enough interpretation to assume you can assimilate other souls living or dead, into your hivemind
>>78607974Fragment is simple, it'd try to kill the other two if given the opportunity to try and evolve itself, though I'm not sure if it'd be more cautious or more excited when it learned that the Twin Dragonlords are primordial near-godsIdeal of Humanity wouldn't consider Fragment as anything other than a bloodthirsty monster and would likely kill on sight, especially since Fragment has no plans to be friendly with anyone; For the Twin Dragonlords, he'd probably let them be or even ally with them... until he finds out they're trying to manipulate people into swearing fealty to the Arrogant Star, at which point he'd distance himself as much as possible, and try to remove as many humans from their influence as he couldThe Twin Dragonlords would see Fragment as nothing more than a feral 'animal', but recognize the danger it poses, and try to put it down if it ever got too close to/started preying on whatever empire they're manipulating; They'd see the Ideal of Humanity as an ideal pawn to get more humans under their sway, and would try to ally with him and keep him in the dark to their true purpose as much as possible. if/when he did find out, they'd cut their losses for the most part because they know he wouldn't be able to be convinced otherwise, but if he became too much of a nuisance in trying to undermine their power - as humans are the majority population - they would put more focus on driving him out of their sphere of influence, either through political and social intrigue, or setting the army of the empire they're in on him. if he still persisted, they wouldn't be above confronting him directly
>>78602672Martials BTFOMesmerType: GhostChimeric Evolution
>>78595561Last thread people were discussing about either giving control of your Seals to your clone is cheating or not but if we assume the answer is yes then I think this trick works well:>Give yourself whatever Seals you want>Give control of them to Companion>Give your companions mind control Seals of their own controlled by a second Hivemind bodyNow you technicaly still in control
>>78609678Why not just have each hivemind body control the seals of every other hivemind body?
>>78609819Because the discussion was in large part about whether the hivemind bodies are still effectively you, and therefore disqualified. The CYOA is too vague for there to be a definitive answer to the question so it was a fun little tangent, but I don't think we need to repeat it.
>>78609819He's referring to an argument where one anon thinks the individuals in a hive mind count as one person, and the other argues the soul split means they're different people. So he's offering a solution to the former anon, for whom hivemind wouldn't work.
>>78609516>Infectious Mutations and Sharing don't estipulate a limit on which mutations can be shared I agree with infectious Mutations. But for Sharing you would need to justify why that mutation is complementary to you. The "share it with them" from Sharing is just how you want to use your mutations or show them how you enjoy your life. You might say that if you are a MIE they have to become a MIE too so you can have enough holes for all your bodies. But it could also develop "Hole Boring" so all 12 of you can fuck that individual at the same time. With Infectious Mutations they are more likely to end up getting MIE, power core and finally an Artificial Oversoul. That being said, I don't see anywhere in those descriptions how you can conclude that this "allow enough interpretation to assume you can assimilate other souls". Neither that mutation or that curse allow you to manipulate souls. And Artificial Oversoul just explains how it forms, that you have one now and the powers it gives you. It leaves to interpretation that you can create one, but it doesn't give you the power to create more Oversouls or expand your own Oversoul. So your justification doesn't satisfy me, I still don't see a power to manipulate souls so you can create or modify an Artificial Oversoul.
>>78609941>It leaves to interpretation that you can create oneOne of the new races in this version was created by magic-users making artificial oversouls, so explicit purchasable power or not, it's a thing that can be done.
>>78609678It's even more easy. You don't need a hivemind, nothing is stopping you from putting all seals on you and having a companion control them while he has mind control seals and you control them. The only problem is that you have to control them before they control you. But you can make them hypersubmissive and in love with you so they won't betray you. >>78609863As one of the participants in that argument I'll find Apo one day so he can explain to me what the fuck a parallel will actually is and put an end to this debate.
>>78608638use master thaumaturgy to analyze the magic behind the oversoul and then combine them, there are probably other methods maybe enchantment maybe others who knows
>>78610014Yeah it can be done. I'm not saying it can't be. I'm just trying to get you to tell me how? You can also put seals and tattoos on others without using the Divine powers of the cyoa, but it's not stated in the cyoa how. There are many things that are unexplained. So I am asking again, which power do you think allows you to manipulate souls?
>>78610041>The only problem is that you have to control them before they control you.Make them lower level than you. Level 1 even. Hell, make them weak as shit. No powers or stats at all. It croaks in the first nanosecond of spawn.
>>78610095Kek, this is such a huge exploit and is totally legal. Fucking kek
>>78610041>parallel willDid you meant Paralel Mind? On the last page before mutation combos? It just gives you a second mind inside your head for multi-tasking
>>78610288Yes, I meant that. I'm sorry for the confusion. The problem I have with Parallel mind is exactly that pic.
>>78610306Already familiar with Kumokoor just read about her online? Because her Skill in the anime/manga/novel paint a pretty clear picture of how PM works in tentacle realm, assuming it does work the same way ofc, maybe not knowing either it does or not is your question?
>>78610374My problem is that it probably work like with Kumo. Which means that you can develop a parallel mind with ideas opposed to you, who can have control over your body and can try to sabotage you. It can even try to kill you and replace you. This makes giving it a body with MIE a horrible idea.Which bring the argument of the soul again. Because we usually mix soul, mind and conscience. And I don't want to open that can of worms again. It's just really complicated and confusing, bringing more potential trouble than what its worth. (It's also expensive as fuck if you wan to bear the cost with one body. Now that I think about it, you can make each body from MIE have 12 parallel minds. Hahaha fuck this. And with Hivemind you don't actually control the bodies, your parallel minds do.)
>>78608416So Morality Curse is something you CANNOT willingly break. Morality Seal is something you CAN willfully resist. So I see it as a question of infinite willpower vs finite will suppression. Other forms of Mind Control could bypass Morality Curse, but they would need to be something you cannot fight with willpower alone, such as your body being completely puppeteered.Honestly with Strong Will and all the related stuff, plus 5 in every attribute, I doubt the seal would be capable of making me do anything I didn't want to do. But since I'm setting it up to enforce the morals I DO want to follow, it's all a moot point anyway.
>>78610698>But since I'm setting it up to enforce the morals I DO want to follow, it's all a moot point anyway.Going moral in a NSFW cyoa? Interesting!
>>78610698The description of the Morality Seal tells you that you will eventually succumb to it. The is no will strong enough to resist it. The only question is how long it will take. So the seal will end up winning your curse with enough time."Even the strongest of wills cannot resist forever"If you want free points just do what the other anon said. Give all your seals to a companion, make that companion a level 1 mob with a fetish for dying and enjoy all the points. With that exploit relax builds are now really broken. +555P and +2020C (+650P) by taking every seal but Outfit and Advertisement.
>>78610698>plus 5 in every attributeSorry just wanted to clarify this. The CYOA never actually numbers the attributes (aka Stats, strength, willpower etc). I use a 1-5 system as shorthand. 1 is the orange "caution" level, 5 is the dark-blue "extreme". It's helpful when I can use min/max and automatic color formatting in my spreadsheets. >>78608416>>78607337Just noticed something that can put the final nail in the "can you control your Seals" question, for now. Demon Seals mutation. With the Demon Seals mutation, the Seal(s) connected to that mutation "...cannot be consciously controlled by you either. "instead it operates on a set of predetermined conditions that are dependent on your Race and desires."By exception, this can be taken as solid proof that WITHOUT Demon Seals, seals that are not directly controlled by a chosen Other ARE consciously controlled by you. Mana is still an issue though.
>>78610906Again, it's irrelevant because I WANT the effect of the seal. Most of the seals in fact. Plus the Demon Seals mutation text basically proves you can directly control your own Seals at will, if that control is not assigned to someone else.
>>78595561Anyone build a companion yet? Or do a tattoo build?
>>78610906>By exception, this can be taken as solid proof that WITHOUT Demon Seals, seals that are not directly controlled by a chosen Other ARE consciously controlled by you. Mana is still an issue though.Even easier. At no point it stops you from being the one controlling the seal. You can choose yourself as the one controlling the seal. Which is really retarded and removes all drawback from what are supposed to be bad things. But since the description doesn't forbids your from doing that, so it's fair game. This is so stupid... >>78611012In that case good luck with your companion. If someone captures him or dies you are fucked.
>>78611083My build has the Unity Tattoo + Fatemarks/Soulmarks and 24 Instances sharing that tattoo. Companion is probably going to be added too at some point but it's just too much work. Never actually completed the powers/levels though, so it's not posted. I've got around 3000 points per Instance to spend and 100 levels
>>78610986I'm a retard, I missclicked >>78611147
>>78610986>seals that are not directly controlled by a chosen OtherWhich are only Corruption, Outfit, and Advertisement - generally not the ones anyone is trying to circumvent. All of the other seals specify that they give the power to 'another'. As the subject of the seal, 'another' is not (you).Just give them to your microbiome or true love companion already. Seeing people bend over backwards to find a loophole for a solved problem is getting silly.
>>78611374The rules are explicit that you can assign a seal to no one, and in that case it feeds off your mana instead of someone else's. What's less explicit is how they function if you do so, not whether you can do so. Demon Seal however establishes by exception that YOU control those seals.Look I know it sounds dumb as hell, and the wording of the individual seals themselves seems to contradict that, but the section wording takes precedence in this scenario. Also changes from the prior version until now have only doubled down on making absolutely clear you can take seals without setting someone other than yourself as their controller.

>>78611682I'm getting way more than just points out of this. Portals are one of my fetishes.
>>78602340>>78602415>>78605241I adopted it yesterday after the original Anon gave it up. Since I've never made a cyoa before, I'm learning gimp as I go. About 1/3rd of the way through right now, but I have class tomorrow, so it may not be done until after the weekend. As a side note, it's a 21 wish genie, so I'm debating raising the number of wishes, or maybe qualifying an extra wish for anons who post build explanations.Any input is welcome.
>>78611374You get conversations like this when someone feels they 'need' to take an option but don't really want to, they're trying to logic themselves out of their own autistic need to instead do what they want.
>>78607974weirdo plushie dragon mage who wants to turn other people into dragons and valkyrie trying to supplant the gods, both have very different goals that will cause friction with each other but will probably end up in a business relationship as valk conquers the uncorrupted lands and expands to cover the world
>>78611722Maybe you can't do what you "want" because you "need" to do something to achieve that.If you ignore points, corruption and all the parts you don't want about the cyoa, you can do a pretty cool build that is perfectly suited for you.
>>78611717>As a side note, it's a 21 wish genie, so I'm debating raising the number of wishesI feel like there's been enough push for "more wishes" in the standard 18-wish galleries (and even slightly smaller 15-wish ones) to just go for it.
>>78611374>but the section wording takes precedence in this scenarioWhy? In every other circumstance of the CYOA specific wording in an option takes precedence over more generalized wording. It makes no sense that the reverse would apply here and only here. Additionally, the wording of the section header doesn't even apply to control of the effects of each seal, but to how they are maintained. Finally, you're hanging a whole lot on an ambiguously worded option in another section of the CYOA. The relevant part 'and while it is not controlled by another individual, it cannot be consciously controlled by you either' can equally be read as emphasizing that it removes all control of the seal and puts it on autopilot, whether or not it is one of the seals that could normally be controlled by you (like Advertisement or Outfit).
>>78611518That's stupid. Just use common sense in each case where you have confusion with the rules, instead of trying to derive some absolute set of rules based on RAW which has mistakes and imprecise wording. When your derived set of rules results in stupid outcomes (like getting a ridiculous amount of free points by assigning yourself as the owner of all the magic seals that are supposed to allow another person to control you) it should be clear that you're doing something wrong.
>>78612022Tell me, can I choose curse (which is a power that gives you points with relax), not pick any status effect and pick it again to increase the cap of status effects that I'm not picking?
>>78611864Two reasons. One, you can't have a section where every option is an exception to that sections rules, especially when said rules are reinforced instead of rewritten every edition. Two and more importantly, who controls a seal is a separate condition from who powers the seal, and not a single seal offers an exception where you must select an individual to control the seal if powering it yourself. If you don't have to select anyone there must be some kind of "failsafe" for an empty set, and in this case that failsafe is established via "rule by exception" in Demon Seals.
>>78612103Yes. You can purchase it twice with no statuses (it says "up to" which includes 0). However that does mean you'll be unable to purchase it a 3rd time and assign statuses to it.Curse actually has specific effects outside of any negative statuses it might afflict (weakness to status and corruption, chance to take double damage/status). The second purchase does nothing, but it's not disallowed.
>>78612103I decided not to do that because it felt stupid.
>>78612131What about the fact that half the seals say they "allow ANOTHER" and "allows that OTHER INDIVIDUAL"?
>>78607974All my builds ended up as panic purity builds focused on purging corruption with various levels of zeal, so yes.

>>78610510I think that you could get around this by not being someone that would backstab yourself for personal gain. I'll probably come back to this later in the week instead.
>>78595561>>78611083Well I had the idea for an odd build rattling around in my head but I wasn't sure what to do with it. But thanks to this I decided to make it a companion. Meet Sparks.
>>78614813could always turn yourself into a companion for someone else but that would probably be pretty nuts think nobody else made a gremlin before so neat to see one

>>78614813cute creature would adventure with
>>78615374Yeah being a companion for someone else is kinda hit-or-miss. Besides I already put alot of work into my main build. It's labeled Nexus Oversoul, the 12 body MIE that combined 12 Mystic Cores/Primordial Hearts and 12 Mana Battery into an Artificial Oversoul. Some other fun race combos in there.
>>78595561Which build is most deserving of death?

>>78615956yes, candy is best when left nonsentient
>>78615798The fairies will backstab you and laugh, but then you just become enemies with history. They took the Amorality curse, which means they're just self-serving and have no qualms with being assholes. They won't outright kill you because they'd rather watch your face when you realize you've been tricked. They wouldn't be against just killing you per se, but you're probably strong enough to either put up a fun fight or escape while they gloat. At least you'll be alive.Meshelia will identity death you instantly, and that's it. She took the Realignment curse which means she doesn't even see humanoids as people. She brainwashes you as easily as she breathes. There's no thought into at all, nothing to give her pause. It's completely banal to her.As for Blasphemous Machine, it's just my impression that he's too obsessed with his mission to completely change the world and doesn't seem like the type to negotiate ever. It's like that saying about how anyone who views their end goal as utopia can justify anything in service of it because a utopia is worth it, no matter what.
>>78616314Oh, and also the fairies potentially could help you if your interests align. They'll be annoying about it, but it could happen. And you can always try to direct them to a more interesting target. Basically, the fairies are more like a wild animal - you can't communicate properly and their actions are potentially dangerous to you, but you can stay out of their way or try to appease them.Meshelia is the specter of death. Random, meaningless, impossible to negotiate with. A force of nature, not a living creature.
>>78616314>>78616431Pretty good point actually, huh.
It's funny, I see all this Tentacle Realm talk and I think "this is a lot like the Harahel stuff," but at the same time I feel like there's not enough to justify it getting its own thread.. yet. That might change when it gets a big update though.Which is funny since Harahel managed to fork so long ago when it was wildly unfinished.
>>78616555The Harahel thing has taught this thread that threadsplits are actually a horrible fucking idea, which is why every time some loser has had a tantrum and yelled for one, like with Eta-class, they got rightfully ignored.
>>78616589the like year after that split was pretty dire, turn out a lot of creative people were kicked out and replaced with trolls
>>78616608Exactly, people calling for splits are always looking to replace it with nothing but empty air and bait.
>>78616555>>78616589It's also different in kind. Harahel split because of the *sustained RP*, not because it had too much staying power as a CYOA. Discussing builds, options, and language of the CYOA is part of the thread. Months of in-character RP actually was off-topic enough to merit a new thread... and even that turned out to be ruinous to this thread's health.
>>78616431>Oh, and also the fairies potentially could help you if your interests align. What even are their goals? Reading the build it seems like they're just built to get fucked and impregnated a lot.
>>78616650Yeah, lemme clarify, I'm not calling for TR to fork. Even in the future. The chat isn't insufferable, just.. curious, mildly interesting without being engrossing? Something like that.I really don't get why the fork was such an issue still and why they permaleft. You can easily just post in 2 different threads.
>>78615662Yours
>>78616710part of why they left is that there was a fair amount of genuine hate from certain people hate that simmered over the years and eventually I believe resulted in one of them trying to sic kiwifarms on them
>>78616710>I really don't get why the fork was such an issue still and why they permaleft. You can easily just post in 2 different threads.Who would keep posting in a thread that wanted you and everybody like you gone? Even for reasons unrelated to the hate?
>>78616710The people kicked out were most of the ones who posted and discussed builds. Nobody was creating other content, so a lot of people simply left out of boredom. For a while, there was a retard or two who would rabidly attack anyone posting or discussing a build he didn't like, or who he suspected otherwise of being a 'Harahelfag' and he'd chimp out at them.
I guess it's been so long I can't remember it too well.I think I was one of the guys who fucked off cause it was majority Harahel and everything else got drowned out/not even posted.
>>78607974>The Buried Aeon>MesheliaIt's ending in a fight. 100%. If the two realize they're a split of the same person it might be delayed enough for them to talk a little (at least until Meshelia gets it in her head that Aeon wouldn't be so miserable with a bit of "help"), but Aeon is mentally unwell and and Meshelia is pathologically incapable of restraint. Buried Aeon has divine protection from mutation specifically because I was worried about these sorts of builds, but all that means is Aeon gains thirty pounds instead of three hundred. But even disregarding Save Crystals I don't think they'd have any way to actually kill the other, so it'd all end with Meshelia being momentarily confused about how it all went wrong and Buried Aeon walking away with five months of starvation dieting and a few hundred years of trauma ahead of her.>>78616314>She took the Realignment curse which means she doesn't even see humanoids as peopleThe real problem is that less that she views humans as below her, and more that she genuinely thinks she's being helpful.
>>78617147>The real problem is that less that she views humans as below her, and more that she genuinely thinks she's being helpful. So it's a "Stop helping!" situation?

>>78612202Well, I'm exploiting that now. Sorry and thanks.
>>78595561>>78614813Decided to make a slightly cleaner lay out.
>>78617539Whose companion is this?
>>78614401You can say that now. But if the character is immortal, how can you be so sure things won't change? And there are tons of mental effects in this world or curses/mutations that can erode your mind. It's too risky. The one I'm doing now also uses MIE, but no parallel wills. And it's more of a flex choice, not vital.
>>78617556Well my MIE (Nexus Oversoul) has 12 companion slots to fill. So one of those. Not sure which one to pair her with. Maybe the Dragonlord? But I was mostly posting Sparks because she was a cool idea, but one I hadn't written down. I already had my 12 MIEs made. Then someone (>>78611083) mentioned companion builds so I decided the hash out her build and post it.
>>78617679That's the risk you take anytime that you trust others. At least with parallel wills, you get to understand their development pretty intimately. Anything they become, is an alternate path you could have taken yourself.
>>78617893Not cool. I wish I could put Totality seals on all my parallel minds to trust them.Honestly, the main problem is that they have a personality and a will. If they had no ego, it would be fine. Just like an AI
>>78617679>You can say that now. But if the character is immortal, how can you be so sure things won't change? And there are tons of mental effects in this world or curses/mutations that can erode your mind. It's too risky.Personally I get around that by fiating the details of my Hive Mind so that each Instance are all running off a shared pool of memories/experiences. So whatever happens to one of me has effectively happened to all of me. The down side of Apo's writing is that it's often unclear, but that creates an (intentional?) upside of leaving a good amount of wiggle room for the finer details.
>>78617713Imagine, a 24 instance Celestial where every single instance has a 24 instance Celestial as a companion. And they all have a Unity Tattoo.
>>78619099At what point does the Charity Queen get sick of you stuck in her pit taking years to finalize each and every single one of your extended family, and just throw you into the Realm?
>>78619193It sounds like its been a while since anyone ended up in The Pit so she might be willing to indulge for a while at least.
Thinking about it, do I even include a waifu if she has multiple divisive fetishes? Who even picks her at that point? It feels like it would just turn off the people that like one of them if they don't also like the other. I'm not even into her, but I figured the concept makes sense and somebody might be. Now I'm not so sure.Oh, and why am I even thinking about lore? I'm out here imagining setting details when this was supposed to be a quick 'pick a futa to top you' thing.
>>78619193Personally I'd just take shortcuts. Make a template, repeat the template. It's all about quantity and multipliers not variety. First, every character is built on the same foundation. Same mutations, drawbacks etc. That's only changed if absolutely necessary for a build (void aspect possibly, but that causes a HUGE number of changes). Then I make up to 12 builds with different power sets (a melee build, a magic build, a spirit build, an elemental build etc). If I run out of unique class builds I'll probably just duplicate my favorite ones. Then mirror it on the other side. Then each companion is as close to a duplicate of the build it's a companion for as allowed.
>>78619221>lonely tentacle goddess waiting around in her pit for someone to corruptThat's so sad, I wanna hug her and hang out.
>>78619099Strong, but a bit boring and likely to be very same-y. Like what are you going to do to make all those 576 Celestials interesting? And the amount of work making all those builds? I mean I guess you could just copy then paste 575 times but that'd be a pretty soulless power gaming for the sake a power gaming thing to do. Plus you'd be beholden to The Arrogant Star. It's not even an interesting way of trying to break the system. At least I'm trying to kickstart my apotheosis in a slightly unusual way by fusing a bunch of Primordial Mystic Cores and Mana Batteries into a vessel for my soul and divine spark.
>>78619381>Plus you'd be beholden to The Arrogant Star. You can combine Celestial with any other Angel combo to take any other Patron, or no patron at all with Nephilim. My own version is Valkyrie for The Silent MoonBy the way there's explicit word of god that if you have multiple different "Must choose {X} as your patron", you can select any of the options you have. Nephilim overrides and forces you to select no patron no matter what it is paired with though.
>>78619452Well you didn't make any mention of combining it with another angel type in your original post. But yeah I did the Nephilim thing for Watcher/Nephilim as one of my MIE Instances. And while The Silent Moon is one of the most reasonable of the bunch I'd personally still be wary of her being able to strip me of my power over any disagreement. Plus I'm horrible with routines so the "Pray every day." would be the bane of my existence.I do wonder where your spark comes from with Player Character Nephilims though. Is one of the gods donating it? And are PC Nephilims still spurned by the gods since they are made by one (or more) of the gods and set loose rather than some blasphemous alchemist?
>>78619643All my Patrons Tenants are enforced by a Worship Tattoo (part of the Soulsmark, of course), so I couldn't go against her even if I wanted to. Obviously that's not a commitment everyone will be willing to make, but at least I never ever have to deal with the consequences of getting on my patron's bad side as an Angel.
>>78619695>.t favorite Slave, Zealotry
>>78619351She even invited all these anons and gave out free powers, just for them to leave and choose a different god.
>>78619452>>78619695You know, I can't help to wonder about The Silent Moon. She's an Outer God and was previously known as The Mourning Star. Lucifer is the Greek translation of the Hebrew name for the morning star "hêlêl" which in turn is derived from the verb yalal 'to lament'. The Silent Moon *might* be *the* Devil who decided to run away and try to make a fresh start.
>>78619337Do it
>>78619720I make the choice willingly, although for all my devotions I hesitate to use the word "zealot". Even at absolute maximum adherence there's nothing in the Silent Moon's tenets by themsleves that would result in extremism. Also it should be noted that at no point do I force myself to obey her, directly. It's ONLY the tenets.>>78619998Yes the name "mourning star" is obviously a reference. Didn't know there was a basis for that spelling though.
>>78619381>Plus you'd be beholden to The Arrogant StarThey are the true god of the realm anyways.>>78619998I will point out that the art of Silent Moon is of a character called "Lucifrena" so you tell me.
>>78619819>just for them to leave and choose a different god. While I haven't made a build for the current version, and while she's not my number one, I have nothing against the Charity Queen. Also while I would put the Truth Machine as my second favorite, I am more likely to follow the Charity Queen's tenets than the Truth Machine's. Actually I might be more likely to follow the Charity Queen's tenets than those of my patron the Silent Moon. My plans absolutely do not involve avoiding corruption, and instead involve absorbing it and turning it into energy/mana as part of a purification process. Not that I intend to do that to people against their will, it's more of a service or medical treatment thing. Similarly I would be inclined to absorb and reduce corruption in human lands, I would only be absorbing corruption in say the pink if I specifically need the energy, rather than to reduce to corruption in the area.>>78619998One thing to think about there is Luci's thing was opposing free will, and the Silent Moon doesn't show any signs of that. Though I could kind of see it as a character growth thing, as though she recognized she fucked up and as learned from it.
>>78619998>looks down>some asshole is preaching christianity

>>78619998>>78620142>>78620490What about one of her Boons being named Holy Spirit? That could lead to some heavy implications in that context, especially with the purview of Forgiveness and Redemption as well as the reference to "Silent Night" in the name Silent Moon...
>>78622648The Bible also calls Jesus Lucifer at times, because Lucifer isn't a distinct character in the bible (the angel rebellion in Genesis is lead by the head Watcher, Samyaza.) It has everything to do with associations with Venus (as a star) and being bright/shiny. So it's not exactly hard to put Jesus and Lucifer is a blender the make a deity, and when your art is of a girl Lucifer then bam, a goddess.
>>78620682The status quo is forever, many have thought themselves bigger then the world. The Nephilim are doomed to fail. Entire civilizations have gone through their life cycle for the duration they have been around with nothing to show for it.

>>78622940Whoever corrupted most of the gods into perverts sure did a good job at changing the status quo.
>>78622940>The status quo is forever>the world is the result of the status quo being overturned
>>78622648I do agree that the Silent Moon has a heavy christian influence as to her nature. I just don't think she's necessarily meant to specifically be from the bible. Just like how the Shoggoth race isn't meant to be directly taken from the works of Lovecraft. You can be heavy with your references while making something new, like how Goku is not Sun Wukong, despite being extremely blatantly based on him.
>>78622986The paradigm of gods and mortals remains intact regardless of corruption. Even the Fair Queen the proposed culprit and seemingly the one most punished for it remains one of the most influential gods in the realm. The gods were not defeated by corruption but rather synthesized a new relation, they may have changed but in so doing unlocked a part of their nature and are more themselves then ever.
>>78617249Meshelia isn't malicious - far from it. And she's lucid enough that, if you could get close to her and withstand the constant passive mental corrosion she puts out, that you could probably firmly tell her that you don't want to be corrupted and despise her for what she's doing, and probably get through to her.The problem comes in that her thought process is hopelessly drenched in corruption and her terrible Wisdom and Ruler of Pride prevents her from properly understanding anyone else, so inevitably it's going to be "oh no, I've made anon upset" > "I need to do something to make it up so anon can be happy again" > "huh, maybe anon is hungry" and the moment she reaches that idea the miasma takes over and she loses herself again. It's possible to reason with her, but just not worth it in any way to bother because she is entirely controlled by her skyrocketing corruption. If you were somehow able to break through some of the worst curses perpetuating the feedback loop she's stuck in and save "me" from ego death she'd probably be horrified at what she was doing and try to self-isolate to contain the worst of it. But then again, I've already made that build and it's called The Buried Aeon.
I still haven't gotten around to finishing that Tentacle Realm build I started awhile ago - haven't even picked a patron even.On the upside, I actually did a couple of pages of writing for Zako CYOA today, and I wish for everyone to know. It's still very early on. Am considering if I went to break it up into a couple of different parts, not unlike how Apoth is doing TR (possibly including the lag between updates).
Ahoy anons! SeaYOA anon here. On shore for the next few days so I have internet. Three rough drafts had to be scrapped but each time i started a new one I was even more pleased with how it was turning out. I have to ask though. How much of an info dump is acceptable at the beginning? I had to restart several times because I kept infodumping. I cut it down to the bare minimum and am trying to pepper worldbuilding and mechanic explanations through choices. But even then I have like 6 paragraphs before you get to the first real choice. And even those first choices are more infodumps. If I include a body section I could add body choices in early but I've always found body sections without mechanical benefits stupid. I instead just said do whatever you want in an infodump paragraph. But if I could infodump just a bit more I think it would be easier to cobble everything together. Also waifu section. Should I include one or leave it? I got pictures for them and personalities and I think add flavour to the group you choose. As well as giving you an idea of who you will be interacting with. But the CYOA is not a waifu CYOA. They do give possible faces to the girls you fuck though. But you can ignore them if you wish. I know Adamant had several waifus that everybody ignored as it was multi-player while mine is single-player. And if I do include them how many waifus per group? I have six total groups. I could do a bunch of waifus but the CYOA gets longer. I am thinking 8 per group but that is a lot of waifus.
>>78624593Never too many waifus, include the.
>>78624593I would very much hesitate to release something with 6 paragraphs, and it wouldn't be my cup of tea. Usually I'd do just 4 paragraphs - 'hello', 'here's what we're doing', 'why this is happening' and 'here's your points, on to the rest'.Many an anon would disagree, though, and I do get a lot of lore questions for my more popular CYOAs so maybe I do too little. You could try a glossary or contents section that you can sneak more lore/context into. I don't often do a waifu section, but more often than not the whole CYOA is about making a waifu anyway. The couple I have done have always been well received, though, so I guess there is a market? Dunno the CYOA, but you could also weave waifus amongst the main options themselves especially if any of them seem especially weak.
>>78624593Good luck! Hope it turns out great!>Also waifu section. Should I include one or leave it? I got pictures for them and personalities and I think add flavour to the group you choose.
