Pack Street is a good OC oriented Zootopia fanfic series
I guess it got really popular because it doesn't just has good art for it made by the writer, good character designs, it also takes the setting and used it creativly to tell a story that very well could take place in the city while the actual movie is going on elsewhere.

The story follows a young adult sheep moving out from his parents to a predator neighbourhood in the middle of the night-howler conspiracy. He has a weird thing that he loves bug-burga that is mostly seen as a "disgusting pred food" by most sheep, so his disconnect from his own people and the "unknown" culture of predators is a very fun base for the narrative of the story, as he gets to know his predator neighbours and sees them for the people they are rather than the monsters the current social climate of the city paints them.

This and his FNAF fanfiction are the same, Weaver's life experience mixed with an existing IP.
It doesnt tell a story, or even attempt to finish it, it's more of a setting.

I think PS told a good story if we look at Remmy's journey of coming to terms with it that he never had connections like what he had with his new pack, and he actually puts effort into becoming better, repairing his relationships.

There is opening for other storylines, like him getting a new job, but I guess since the close friends that was Weaver's co-writer on PS passed away we won't bee seeing much of it.

To be honest, the chapter it's on now isn't really that bad of a final chapter. Remmy's story arc is pretty much complete at this point-- chapter 32 was basically the climax of the whole series --and Weaver himself said in a stream a couple years ago that the plot from there was really going to be just tying off a few of the last remaining loose ends in a few more low-key chapters before it found a good time to properly ride off into the sunset. Chapters 33 and 35 are probably pretty representative of what the remainder of the series would have been paced like.
You can pretty comfortably read through the series as it is and still feel satisfied. I mean, I have. I reread the whole thing on a camping trip this summer.

Sometimes when something is praised too much and talked about too much and recommended too much you get this feeling of opposition. Like... OK damn it, enough. I'm not in the mood for this thing. I get the same feeling with video games. 30 different people kept telling me "Play Mass Effect, you'll love it!" and the more people recommend it, it just makes me want to play it less. He is a tragic villain, that definetly was pushed to do bad things by outside forces like his horrible family... but he was given an out. He was offered a second and a third chance, once with Gary's friendship, and once with Judy's sympathy... and he choose betrayal both times.

Being forgiven at this point, only after he failed to murder his way into his dad's favors... it would never prove that he regretted what he did.

He needs to live with this regret.
He needs to go through the turmoil of hating himself.

It also just has a lot of cachet here especially because
1. It's made by someone who already had name recognition on 4chan almost 20 years ago
2. It's made by someone who knows how to play the game of thread engagement for that reason
3. The setup (single young man, etc) is pretty popular on 4chan, either because people relate to it or because it allows for a lot of headcanons and shipping (which feeds back into to the second point of creating engagement)
4. It actually does present an interesting social dynamic that plays off and expands on the movie's canon very well
5. The cast is varied and developed enough that they're pretty flexible with character interactions and extrapolation
On top of it also just being a fun slice of life/drama read. I think it's for all these reasons that it far outlived all of the other thread fan settings. Shorty Squad was fine, but I'll be honest, I read through all of Inky's short stories for the setting and it didn't create a whole lot of intrigue. I liked Pizza Pals overall, but it felt kind of limited to its one primary setting. Littlest Hustlers is probably my favorite of these-- it has quite a lot of potential and I think it only fell short because that potential just wasn't used the way Pack Street's was.

I honestly try my hardest to agree with you guys feeling every time this argument is brought up but it's just too absurd to pretend these threads were getting new Zootopia stuff back then, new content was fics (too slow, often shitting themselves to death or being dropped) or ocs (fast shooting stuff that the thread had). What I do agree now is that this general should not have had OCs to keep it alive and should've died back in 2019~ and not have been brought back with the new movie. It definitely should not have been brought back after the hack, most of all.

I'm not saying it was super adult for grown ups like me I'm so mature haha, but it felt like it was pushing a bit of the Disney limit? I saw someone say they felt the writer must have wanted Nick n Judy to kiss during that hug scene but Disney held them back perhaps. Zootopia feels like classic golden age level quality Disney to me so whatever they're doing keep it up.
