>The Doctor could only smirk in idle amusement at the suggestion. Usually it was others who were trying to blow him up, in his experience...
>But the AI in the suit didn't seem satisfied with his answer. Which in itself also amused him, to a point. He wouldn't admit it out loud, but he was certainly quite curious about what made this particular Artificial Intelligence tick. He's been on both the right and wrong side of plenty of military AIs before, but rarely has he encountered one so... conversational.
Not particularly... but if you're going to be so pushy for an answer out of me, I suppose there's worse things one could admit.
>One could only wonder what "worse" admissions this man could make. But for now, it seems they've managed to at least drive out one truth from him after an entire conversation of dancing around this subject and that.
I'm 904 years old.
>And yet, perhaps it would be a truth too hard to properly digest. Even as he said it so matter-of-factly.
At least, I was the last time I checked... does that satisfy part of your bulding curiosities?

>>79948222
The green...? Oh.
>A flash of familiarity danced across his eyes, but the alien before him didn't miss a step. His body was still tensed, ready to spring if confrontation were to truly erupt.
I'm sorry to disappoint. But I'm not a soldier or a warrior or anything like that. I'm a Doctor. *The* Doctor, actually, if we're being honest.
>Whatever that means...
So no, I'm not going to attack you. And I'd really prefer it if you didn't attack me, seeing as we only just met. Usually it takes a little bit longer before people come to hate me that much.

>Cortana was spirited to put it one way, and a girl like her didn't give in so easily when something caught her interest. And the Doctor here more than fit the bill there. Thankfully, and perhaps with a bit of luck, he opted to indulge the nosy Volitional AI. And upon hearing of his apparent age, the Chief did a quiet and subtle double-take at the casual mention of such an advanced age!
"My my, that's certainly an impressive number if I say so myself. Hmmm, assuming you're not just making it up to wow us humbler folks and all."
>The only other aliens that they possibly knew of that could match or perhaps exceed such an age were the Forerunners. And even then they were all dead as far as these two knew and the UNSC at large!
>The Chief himself had a newfound outlook on the old alien, the quiet commando looking them up and down behind his golden visor as Cortana continued.
"Yes I suppose it does for now. Of course, that raises all sorts of other questions you know."
>The Master Chief shook his head, his cue for the AI to *try* and reign herself in a bit. He had the feeling that they were pushing the envelope enough as was.

>Eagle-1 nearly melted in her seat. She opened her flaps and began to decelerate. the safety switch on her pods re-engaging.
>Pulling the flight mask free from her face she let out a deep sigh in relief.
Alright alright. Won't let me use my big guns will you? I'll show em who's boss.
This is Eagle-1 to Hotel flight. If your Pelican is in the area, keep an eye on my bird will you? I'm going in.
>She pulled back the throttle, and yanked on her air break. The nose tilted upwards into a cobra maneuver, slowing the fighter down to a pinpoint stop.
>Attitude thrusters, delivering the jet to a soft slow hover now level with the ground.
>Finally the wings folded neatly, forming a makeshift set of landing gear. She winced as they groaned under the weight of the rest of the machine.
>"It doesn't take a Helldiver to point and gun and shoot it right? They're not leaving me out of the fun either, no sir. Not while I draw breath."
>An R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper and a P-4 Senator hand cannon were hardly decent replacements for a gatling gun but atleast she could get in there now. She grabbed a handful of stims, though she was hopeful she'd not have to use em.
117 come in, friendly ground forces moving to your rear. I repeat, one friendly coming in. Don't shoot.
>She intentionally neglected to mention who this single friendly was. She rushed towards the firefight, seeking the nearest cover.

>Molten tungsten at that. Either way, ODST Two was in for a baaaad time when he caught a couple hot spikes in his bicep, a pained scream being had as he fell to the ground, his freshly reloaded assault rifle clattering with him. At the very least his mate managed to nail the bastard responsible with an EMP explosive, the ape warrior from outer space taking some rounds as well. But of course, he was hardly done yet, determined like his kind was to fight to the last as the Captain used his jetpack to soar into the air and gun for the SPARTAN.
>With his shields still recharging a bit, the Chief decided to go on the counter-offensive.
>He stepped out of the protective Bubble Shield field and hurled his last plasma grenade at the Brute to try and sticky them!
Evens: Successful sticky!
Odds: Miss!
>No matter the case, the Chief quickly retreated back into the Bubble cover to try and avoid any potential reprisal. Just as well, the grenadier ODST switched back to his assault rifle and together with the sergeant opened up on the Brute as they flanked him around the Bubble Shield to hit him for whatever good it might do as well.

>Hearing her caused the super soldier to frown.

If I were going to lie about my age, wouldn't I go for something more "normal?" The last thing I should want is some kind of rogue military organization taking too much of a liking to me, don't you think?
>The Doctor could practically feel the way the human soldier's gaze took a newfound focus on him. He wasn't surprised by it, obviously, but he did wonder if it would become something worth worrying about sooner or later.
I'm sure it does. But unless you plan on trying to detain me for "questioning," I don't think I'd quite like to divulge my entire life story. The only reason I'm sharing what I have is that I suspect you've worked some of it out already on your own. Top o' the line hardware like you? I'm sure you've been running plenty of scans on me. Bit rude not to ask first, but I don't mind.
>Is... is he-
>Never mind. Now, the Doctor was holding up his hands, wrists pressed together passively. Or rather, mockingly.
So, what will it be? Am I to be "escorted" somewhere for a more personal conversation, or do I have your permission to scamper off without worry of getting stunned or shot or some such?
>The outward appearance of sarcastic amusement was clearly undercut with a still-lingering distrust of all things... well, them. Them for the very fact they were soldiers, it seemed. It was certainly different then the air of almost moronic indifference he tried to put on in prior meetings, back when they knew less... not that what they know now is much more.

Good thing we're a lawful military organization then.
>Deadpan as can be, the super soldier could feel the scathing judgement in the Doctor's rebuttal. Did he have a problem with authority? Or maybe just militaries in general? The Chief and Cortana for that matter were banking on the latter for something more specific.
>Still, the petty officer didn't *exactly* have orders to bring the man in. Yet.
Negative. You're just a person of interest for now and I don't have orders to bring you in.
"And hey, you can't blame me for running scans on you either. You're just too interesting like that to just let go and you've given us some things to think and maybe talk about down the line."
>Both good and bad, the Doctor a possible friend or maybe foe to the UNSC and her interests. But in truth, the Chief again had a gut feeling the man was more (cautious) friend than anything rather than a malicious actor in the making. Assuming they didn't give him a reason to get pissed at the UNSC.
>Not that he would do so now, the Chief shaking his head at their "escort" suggestion.
You're free to go if you want.
"Unless you had some questions for us in turn. Or needed a ride considering how hard that crash was with your phantom phone booth. I have the sneaking suspicion already that there's more to it as well beyond the fact that it can *just* fly."
>After all, the power levels that COULD be detected were astronomical.

We'll see. I like keepin' people on their toes. Things get boring if they're too predictable.
>As likely of an excuse as that likely wasn't...
>The Doctor inhaled sharply through the nose, soaking in the stale desert air of a world scorched by two raging suns that left him squinting as he looked around again.
Nahhhh. I can handle myself just fine. And I'd like to take a look around here myself if that's quite all right with you. Besides, I doubt there's much room for me on that deathtrap you call a car regardless.
>He didn't make any acknowledgement regarding Cortana's theory at the end there. Like he said, he seems to prefer to leave them guessing, for one reason or another...
And I've already got enough out of you lot, I think. Human soldiers in space, what else do you need to know?
>He waved a hand in a dismissive manner as he turned on his heels to a random direction and started walking off like he owned the dang place.
Just don't go starting any wars. Or bringing any old ones here. Last thing this world needs is any more heartache...
>With that equally dismissive remark, he seemed content to simply mosey off unless someone should make an effort to stop him. Not the most gentlemanly of dispositions, especially compared to before...

>Something told the Chief they were in for some... interesting times together with this Doctor bloke, the petty officer acquiescing at their refusal with a nod. Although he took *some* silent issue at the Warthog being called a "death trap".
If you insist.
"No more questions either? I'm surprised. Then again the big guy here isn't exactly the best conversationalist even in the best of circumstances and *I* have my secrets."
>Like her pending Rampancy for one thing...
>The MCPO felt a bit incensed at that last part, the stubborn man shaking his head.
We don't start wars Doctor. But we will defend ourselves and others as needed.
"That could include you too if you require it."
>He seemed decent enough so far even if he could be a bit rough around the edges. Although the two had a sneaking suspicion that the Doctor was the kind of guy to not go seeking help so easily...

>So, off he went in turn, soon to disappear among whichever he deemed to be the more interesting buildings of this strange, scorched planet.
>And then they were left on their own again... save for the dead zone of actually usable information that was the small wooden box he had left sitting where it had crashed.

>For now, the Chief clambered back into his Warthog and with a small start, the hefty technical leaped forward and blazed a trail of its own out of the dusty desert town. They might even pass the crashed "police box" on the way out, Cortana almost begging her SPARTAN for a closer look. But he had his orders to resume the patrol and thus he wouldn't do that. Well, at least you've got a steady sense of logic.
>The Doctor's big mouth aside, now the beast has an idea of his own. As if he needed to prove his unnatural abilities any further than he already has, it seems like he's going for something far more dramatic!
Hold on, what do you think you're--
>The arcing scar of lightning flashed in the air for a pinprick of a second as it all at once came crashing down on top of the box! By all means, the entire thing should have exploded into a shrapnel cloud of charred wood!
>... And yet... once the flash from the light fades away, it becomes readily obvious that the box is... perfectly fine. It's still standing, after all. Still in one terribly solid piece. Just slightly smoking now, from the looks of it.
Well then... hope you got that out of your system.

>Emphasis on that "blind fury" part, the big dumb Brute getting flashed by ODST #3's light bomb as it went off to good effect. The now blinded beast flailed their battle implement around with reckless abandonment, the bastard none the wiser to the Chief sneaking up on them. And speaking of which the SNCO saw the Super Earth pilot attempt to pull the Second trooper out of the line of fire. Only to get tagged in her leg and incapacitated in short order.
>A hint of worry filled the SPARTAN at the sight of now TWO downed allies but he quickly banished the feelings to a corner of his mind. Dwelling on that wouldn't help them now: force would.
>Rushing up behind the blind Brute the Chief struck them HARD in the back for what was likely a fatal blow, the SPARTAN having (hopefully) successfully ninja'd them!
>The other two ODSTs meanwhile ceased their fire, not wanting to hit the big petty officer and instead moved towards the down Helljumper and Super Earth pilot. They in turn would try to move them someplace a bit safer for the time being amidst the various buildings of the Army Warehouse.

Well what are the rules then??? Is it a one time use sort of thing where you ejaculated or take damage and it goes away or is it like a time duration where you have to make the most out of every second like viagra or something???

>>79957575
I dont think you should chew on it, that would be extremely painful
>>
>>79957691
consume a gock for an extended period of time and you'll be given HP via lifesteal, the gock has no limit on how much HP it can give, it just takes a long time to suck the HP out of the gock.
