The world being presented here is so damn entertaining and charming and while being surprisingly detailed, still manages to not to take itself too seriously and knows its own absurdity. It’s kind of reminiscent of One Piece with how whacky things are but the main characters introduced so far honestly seem more fun than any of OP’s core cast and Toriko’s competence is a refreshing different from Luffy’s/Goku’s retardation.I’m kinda tired of the current year slop. This is pretty kino thus far. To the rest of you, recommend me more stuff from the previous eras :)

>>80011095i dont really have anything to recommend, but this does raise an interesting point that current stuff really doesn’t just hit as hard for whatever reason. maybe it’s because the ecosystem is far more tight knight than a lot of western mediums so it kind of feels like all the new stuff is simply taking too many queues from previous stuff (jjk is probably the biggest offender of this) but overall I would say the 90s-2000s/early 2010s were better than most stuff that released in the last decade or so
