why is my biggest gripe in st5 v2 that they got d&d wrong?in 1987, they still only had the advanced d&d books. the second (technically third?) edition doesn't come out until 1989. i'm fairly certain that the only magic user classes in 1987 was a wizard and an illusionist.there were no sorcerers/warlocks/wizards etc yet.and ALSO even if there WERE, will would be a warlock, not a sorcerer. his power came from vecna, it did not occur naturally/innately. one could say that el is a sorcerer, but will is 100% a warlock.besides if anything, they (will and el) tap into psionics, which was introduced in advanced d&d, which gave certain pathways you could choose depending on what psychic ability you wanted to tap into. which would be tacked onto magic users, aka they would still be considered wizards, just with specific magic.and considering a lot of the creatures/concepts the kids use for the real life creatures come from the eldritch wizardry supplement, will and el being called psionists or psionic wizards would be much more accurate since there wasn't the rules and stuff for other classes yet.
