Also, to the people who commented on my idea for the fic, I took your considerations and implemented some of them! Won't spoil anything just yet, but the outline has been updated to feature them.

Time to farm some engagement in the meanwhile, so I've got a couple questions for you all, if you'll indulge me :DD

Me personally, I'd love for a series on Zootopia to expand on this. Since Bellweather never got a redemption (she was always evil btw), I do doubt that they will actually do it in Z3. I like Samberg's goofy voice acting a lot, and I think it elevated his character to be more like-able than the creators expected.

One of the stranger pairings (that makes a lot of sense actually) is Pawbert and Gideon. Gideon being current goofball, and Pawbert being potential goofball of course.

I would say if they do get a continuation this way, it'll be treated like Big Hero 6. 2D animation, with involvement of the original creators.

Furthermore, I really doubt that Zootopia Plus is gonna get much of a continuation considering they are using the same resources to make the movies. Just those 6 episodes alone made up about 50~ minutes of finished product, and that's almost half of one movie.

They honestly would, it'd be great for the predators of the world to actually have more food sources than bugs and fish. The feather at the end seems to dictate that the creators have a direction they're gonna be pushing towards, so who knows?

To be honest, I was sort of disappointment by the amount of diversity reptiles had in the movie? I get that it's supposed to be a small population in Marsh Market, but they all looked sort of the same just scaled up. A little freaky to see a basilisk to be similar in size to a red fox.

If they REALLY decided to go all in on a TV show, then something cool to do would be after Z3, if its the last movie, to go back to the original Shock Collar idea and rework that into a sort of AU story in series format.
Lots of people seem to be interesting in that anyway.

Yeah, and the designs weren't even that appealing, the geckos were the only cute ones, all the others were super weird.

They really hammered home that Pawbert didn't want to be redeemed. He literally says that he doesn't wanna be different, then when he's with his family he said he's doing all this for the family and for his father ("For you, daddy!"), then before he gets fry panned he says "I'm a real Lynxley!" I mean it seems almost comical how much they wanted to say "this is a bad guy!! he is not a good guy!!"

But regardless he really captured the hearts of a good portion of the fans. That's why I think they might actually give him an episode in the (potential, hypothetical) series.

Now that would be really fun. Sort of how Marvel Zombies has it's own show now. Though that show is sort of a mixed bag, they really didn't commit to the MA rating. I would absolutely love the AU story to be told through a series perspective, but it would have to be absolutely clear that it would be not canon to the films. It'd be hard to disconnect it, especially if we still have Nick and Judy involved.

I was recently thinking on that disney show Phineas and Ferb in which the creators went full post-apocalyptic dystopian 2nd dimension world and made a whole movie on the characters living in a parallel universe, the idea was kinda cool, although the movie was for kids, it was pretty entertaining. I don't think a whole movie would fit the collar plot since it is already more darker than whatever they did with P&F movie but I would love to see a glimpse of that world in a series episode at least too. That would leave the general audience (that doesn't know about the original plot) wanting to know more of that AU and maybe making it into a short series or something

I wish I could've retooled the pacing of this and added maybe one more page, because a lot of lines got cut out for already being too condensed and wordy. You can't cram too many words into a small space without losing the audience.

I wanted there to be more explicit rumination on the species difference. I know it's the underlying theme and subtext for most of the comic already and I don't think it fails to come through. It's not terribly subtle! But I do wish I'd been able to put it to words a bit more. A lot of the reason Judy is so despondent is that she just assumes they CAN'T be together because of their species difference. That it's not even a possibility. That Nick wouldn't be willing to cross the species boundary, that his date with Jenny was proof he only wanted a fox. Wishing he'd been a bunny so a relationship would've been possible.

It's also part of why she reacts the way she does during her somnophilic trespass, of course. "Oh look, turns out his body likes bunny just fine"

I think that you made an excellent choice in that regard. It's a rare find to see these characters interact in these adult situations that isn't just pure porn, and it shows a lot of caliber on your part as well.

I found it beautifully tragic that these are two people hopelessly enthralled by one another yet can't seem to admit it. I don't imagine they ever dated because the end enunciates that Nick and Judy never declared their feelings for each other. But they were probably close friends for a while, much like the energy in the films, before Nick sort of just trailed off.
Part of Judy's whole hangup is that she assumed Nick couldn't love her except as a friend. The reality as you say is much closer to Nick being scared of his own feelings, not wanting to be sincere or admit them to himself, and as evidenced by his dialog, just generally thinking he was no good for her, that he couldn't deserve her. Judy misinterpreted this as just species divide (though that was probably part of it)

Ok I finished my slop. I am no artist, and I had to do my crap with a mouse as I have no tablet. So this looks really... bad. Still I wanted to do this because it sorta means something to me. I relate to Nick in having trauma. I wrestle internally with demons a lot. Trying to explain thought processes to people can be a challenge. Now I know not everyone thinks Nick loves Judy. That's fine, I'm not trying to convince you guys. I respect your opinion and even take it to heart because if I believe they'll become a couple in 3 I know I'll just be setting myself for a really hard fall. Which I feel like I partially already am, so I try my best not to push the platonic thing away.

But if you watch the hug confession with the idea that Nick actually loves Judy at this point and he's struggling to NOT tell her he loves her, how he's talking makes more sense. He stumbles sometimes. It's like he's trying to pick his words carefully here and there when just three would work. So I made a little comic to try and illustrate to people who may not be able to understand with some visual representation. This could be what Nick was going through internally during the conversation. The screenshots are meant to be flashes back to reality.

Thank you anons. I wish I had the talent to make it more than it is, but maybe the simplicity makes it stand out more. It's more getting across what an internal traumatic mental struggle is like. Like pounding on a door you can't open but you can see the key through the peep hole.

I do feel bad for Kitty here, she wasn't even going directly at him, it looked like she planned to run away next to him. Not to mention she was hiding behind her dad who them PUSHED her infront of himself.

I want Kitty to get a redemption arc. At least she didn't actually try to kill anyone on her own volituion, she was pressured by her dad to attack Judy and Nick.

His trauma here might actually have benefited him because while Judy really cares for him I think what really made it click for her was his confession of how much she meant to him. If he said he loved her it may have felt like too much too soon, but by being the most important person to him she felt like she was even more special than a friend. Which lead her to repeating the pen at the end. I'd say if you're someone haunted by trauma, it being the very thing that got your soulmate to fall in love with you, it would have feel like most earned thing in your life.

What I love about Zootopia 2 is how clear it shows us how Nick feels about Judy.

In my opinion, he is in love with her and he is fully aware of that. Why? Let me elaborate with two examples and a special focus on the word "because".

First, the prison scene.
When Nick says,"it's not worth her dying for, because...", he stops for a moment and struggles to find the right words.
He then goes on explaining that solitary animals like him don't have real friends. While that is absolutely valid, it feels like an excuse to avoid saying the simplest explanation: "...because I love her".
He doesn't say it because it is not easy for him to admit, especially in front of others.

Then, the confession scene.
He says, "...I should've said it, but I didn't... Because..."
Again, he stops and tries to find the right words. He even shrugs and looks at her like, 'help me out here?'

A bit further on, he says, "...I just don't want you to get hurt, because..."
Looking for words again.

He could've come up with the explanation that he's in love with her (like "I love you").
But he doesn't. Why?

First, expressing his feelings openly is still super hard for him. We know this, and he even admits it.

Second, he's still processing his own feelings and needs to fully accept them. He has been aware of his feelings, yes, but he's accepting them and allowing them as he speaks and goes on expressing them. We are witnessing this in this scene.

Lastly, he's still afraid to lose Judy. He fears that an outright love confession could be too much in this situation and it might push her away. So what he does is letting her know how much she means to him and how he feels without explicitly stating romantic interest.

He knows that that might be too much in this situation, so he goes with the words we hear from him. It's not an overwhelming "I love you". But this is how you say it without actually saying it.

and something many actually discussed, how Pawbert and Bellwether could become the anti-WildeHopps couple, in the sense that while Judy and Nick are having sometimes different approaches they do care a lot about eachother, while Dawn and Pawbert don't actually like eachother their union is purely built on spite and hate for Judy and Nick.
