Thanks for reading. The beginning is probably closest to my normal style so that's a bit worrying, but also starting chapters is like pulling teeth in my experience. You just have to try and get through it so actually good stuff can flow. The It thing is something I'll have to work on as i've always just written by vibe and what i think i'd see in a book myself rather than the actual rules of english embarassingly.

On the dialogue, yeah, not surprising its a bit hard to follow the convo. I didn't actually think of it until i started writing, but the concept is oddly unique. I've never actually read anything where an extended conversation is happening which is the thing you're meant to be paying attention to, where the actual viewpoint character is explicitely not paying attention or even in view of the people talking.
So I felt really restricted: I couldn't use any physical language or describe the talking mammals much at all like I usually would. It's just Judy not listening to these people and having a little freakout over being racist until she notices them.

The general idea beyond this was just sort of meant to be 'Are you guys dating yet? Why not?' from everyone up to and including Judy's own parents until she starts trying to figure it out herself. With the reasons being:
- Judy is way too sheltered to realize interspecies was even a thing.
- Racism causing the above.
- Being Nick is suffering.

I would also like to make it known that I spent waaay too long choosing the name 'Oliver Woolcott' for a sheep and I'm inordinately proud of that stupid pun.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far, I feel the love for this community just a little bit more today.

I like the idea that at first Judy is kind of sickened at the idea of a knot. Like it's really alien to her and it just doesn't look or seem right. Which obviously upsets Nick since he loves her and doesn't want to you know fucking scare her with his dick like a xenomorph tongue. So since she loves him dearly too she does her best to grow accustomed to it and Nick keeps telling her she never has to look at it, he can just put it in he'll do everything no problem etc. Eventually Judy becomes enthralled with it, absolutely adoring the shape and how it works. Just fascinated by it entirely. Which makes Nick quite pleased when all is said and done.

If 3 gives us a kiss scene I want a fake out in the beginning where they go somewhere to eat before everything gets going. Judy gets pasta and Nick sneaks a bite. They end up almost kissing but break it off before it happens, Judy punching his arm saying the spaghetti is hers. The tease would be ok as long as a real kiss would be coming later.

I enjoyed it anon. The dialogue and the setup was interesting and it's always fun seeing some action with the other officers of the ZPD.
As the other anon said there was a slight awkward start but otherwise it was good.
Despite all the characters layered in one conversation it was understandable, and maintained distinct personality for each.
(Swinton, Ramsey, Fangmeyer, Wolford, and Judy's thoughts)
Funny enough Wolford and Fangmeyer seem to have a similar Judy and Nick dynamic.

I don't think it's crap, Anon! I always found the angle of dumb love to be fun, especially when Judy doesn't even realize it. The 'everyone knows they're fucking but them' is a trope that I always adore seeing.

Judy still obsessing over that sheep name while the other officers are actively gossiping about her and Nick is also in character, her drowning out the noise until she finally picks up those key words you mentioned earlier. So immersed in whatever she was doing that she doesn't realize she's in the spotlight.

Nick also being a dealer at a college but not attending is a fun detail too, I'm assuming that badger is Honey? If not, it is nice to see that Nick was in a previous interspecies relationship. Also the yearning detail of him constantly staring at his partner's cotton tail being noticed by Fangmeyer is just *chef's kiss*.

I hope to see a continuation! If I have to give any critiques, some parts of the dialogue are little hard to keep track of but that's especially hard part to deal with when you have more than four characters involved in a scene.

Another thing I'll have to add is Fangmeyer and Wolford - you actually made them have chemistry! They feel natural bouncing off each other just as you described with the situation at hand. The complaining of partners and their chemistry (or lack thereof for Swinton) eventually leading to talking about the partners that have *too* much chemistry was a nice little transition.

Good intro. Gets into the central tension/hook of the story smoothly and introduces the character that at least I find likable and somewhat unique.
Sometimes I find it difficult to care about some oc and they seem like just a random fursona "Eric the cat" but Ash I can get into. The memory moments was a good part.

Thankyou for the kind words and the feedback. Grammar and spelling I tend to sort out when the chapter itself is done after a few rereads (no idea if it's a smart idea or not. I tend to go back and rewrite certain parts anyway) and as for the orbs, fair point it is pretty generic. I'll see about changing it to something better, cheers. Not sure how long this first chapter will be, but will see how it goes.
