Bracket anon... wake up...
Hello again, /fvn/. This time I checked out All Under Control. Since it was talked about a while ago, even mentioned in the last thread: https://rentry.org/hr4bofnr>>80467811He flew too close to the sun. They don't want you to know the wokest FVN character.
>>80434593ok:How do I write about homophobia or about being in the closet that doesn't read like shit?
I have echoslop fatigue
We'll soon be 10 days into 2026, how many FVNs have you managed to try out already, /fvn/?>MeJust Scavenger, but planning on Password and Himalaya Birkin.
I have anti-pro-against echoslop inverted negative upside down fatigue.
>>80468218For me it would come off as less annoying if the writer has a more relaxed view of acceptance. A lot of the time it is everyone has to agree enthusiastically with them or it is bigotry. When the goal should be no one gives a fuck if you are gay and you can live in peace. But it normally comes off as cyclical that people that don't already agree are not worth the time of day. Sure there will be assholes you can't really reason with, but I don't think everyone that discriminates does so because they are just evil and love being evil. Some people you won't change the mind of, but it is not really worth engaging with if you view everyone as unfixable and it is just boring to read. You could have a story where someone who is gay becomes friends with a straight man and when he comes out it upsets him and shatters their friendship. Over time the straight man remembers the good times and slowly comes around with some pressure from his other friends to not throw away his best friend over something so stupid. He is forgiven in the end and they make up. That to me is a story that helps promote acceptance when odds are the story would end that the straight man would be demonized and forgotten or turn out he was gay or bi and just confused or threatened by his friend's bravery because he was so deep in the closet. The other two ways just kind of feel lazy.
>>80468745Like 4 or 5
>>80469513By all means, tell us which ones.
>>80468745The two I have reviewed so far. I'm looking at doing Devil's Gambit, Moontouched, and maybe a longer VN since it has been a while since I tackled a meaty project. I was currently looking at Tennis Ace for that. I will also move to Bakabu if anon pulls though between that time.

>>80468218Oh fuck it. So the thing about abuse and oppression is that there should be a reason why the perpetrator is doing it. It doesn't have to be a complex reason. Could literally just be greed or stubbornness. But there's a lot of stories that don't even do that. I read a story where a guy was talking to his homophobic dad, and he insinuated that he's homophobic because he's traditional but it's not ever made explicit, and that doesn't count. You don't have to make every instance of homophobia be explained, sometimes people can be a dick for no reason, but the point of having abuse and bigotry in these stories is to identify the source of the problem and deal with it in real life. If there's no explanation, then there's no message. There are also levels of homophobia. There's the extreme of people literally wanting to murder every single queer person out there. There are people who openly mock gay people but don't want to wish them harm. And then there are people who are simply uncomfortable with homosexuality. Like what >>80469160 said, you can have a story about a homophobe who is able to accept queerness and all that.As for writing someone in the closet, it's the same thing. Explain why he's in the closet and tell a message with that plot point.A few things to note, try to be unique with it. Don't try to reinvent the wheel, but I don't think people want to read the same predictable stories again and again. Also don't linger too long about how bad it is being in the closet or how bad homophobia is. Your audience is gay men, they already know.

Fixing Password is old and tired. So here is a question for you anons. How would you fix Blackgate? I assume not everyone caught up with it and ripped it ebfore the whole Goredimension filled with MC Corpses. My take: >Stick to Police Route as a main route, incorporate Bar,Library and Construction stuff as visiting those places while on patrol/After work.>Gruff is always your Partner but not necessarily the LI depending on your route.>Trim LIs, Gruff, Jack, Rotis, Alin, 1 Liberian, 1 Construction Worker is more then enough.
