The designs are different from the anime but nonetheless we get to see plot points and dialogue relevant from the non-canon portion of the anime being delivered here. I think this is all leading up to the potential season 2 ending as those segments of the anime were a more poorly executed vision of what she's planning to finish with. I have my own criticisms of season 2 but since Yana herself is writing this, we will be seeing something grand come out of it.
The most realistic conclusion is that John Brown is going to be revealed to be an angel but I want to believe that Ash's own elements will be integral to him as both were Victoria's aides. I am feeling very vindicated and finally fed, angel boys will be canon.

>>80657538I've attempted in the past to rationalize Viv's writing choices through a narrative perspective that stayed true to her own writing capability from what I've seen in Helluva Boss along with her past works. Husbandofaggotry aside, my theories weren't just for glazing purposes but an attempt to fix the plot holes present in the plot that bothered me alot. Season 2 not only haven't fixed said plot holes nor listened to common criticisms of certain characters (ex. The Hotel cast) but I'd argue it became worse from showing off that Viv clearly wasn't thinking deeply about how to tell a cohesive story. Its worse even how she doesn't even let the fans do the work but instead makes things worse like how she boiled down Vox and Alastor's history to just be "oh Al's just an asshole." She deliberately stated she was going to take it seriously and that Hazbin was a plot-driven show yet she never makes use of the themes she insists on correctly. Where's the focus on redemption? Why do the backstories of the characters make no sense for their characterization or established lore? Why does everyone act like a mouth breathing retard and not let shit get this out of control badly (ex. Angel Dust's situation, Heaven's conflict with Hell, etc.)? The most frustrating of all is that for the Biblical-based characters, their origins have little to no actual impact on their characterizations and we don't even get any fucking nuance. I'm not saying to woobiefy Adam but at the very least, make use of his background (both mythos and show) to provide solid explanations of why he is the way he is. Its plain fucking hypocrisy and the show's morality is far from gray, I'd argue its more like an inverted black and white protagonist-centered morality akin to a fucking child. Things either never get addressed or it gets explained in the most superficial dogshit way that's pure laziness on her end

If she had been upfront about the fanservice being prioritized above all, I wouldn't have cared as a longtime fan
