The texture is like slightly bumpy leather. The fur around the nose is velvety and often soft, but they have coarse black whiskers. The older the individual is the higher likelihood for white or gray colorations around the nose and mouth. Their tongue is soft, and the interior of the mouth (cheeks and throat) are covered in tiny fleshy finger like structures called papillae. 'That might feel good to the touch' I hear you say. Ha ha hmmm. Well, the upper palate is what we call the dental pad, and it's covered in hard ridges that aid in chewing/rumination, regardless of teeth it fucking hurts to be bitten.

I was actually a vegetarian for a long while when in uni because of it, but ultimately I embraced the suffering and see it as necessary for the cycle of life. Many people in wildlife management become very callous after a few years, but I try to stay empathetic. Deer are very lovely creatures desu, big noble retards. :3

>>81012353Yes. Their evolutionary advantage is quick reproductive turnover, so they're not selecting for intelligence. Many prey species are like this, like rabbits for instance. Deer have little to no natural defenses, so their only avenue is to get individuals to reproductive age as quickly as possible and give them crazy mating drives. Unfortunately this makes hunting imperative because we've killed off or curbed the population of their natural predators, so they repopulate too quickly and reach carrying capacity.

I really only have /deer/ and super filtered searches on AO3 nowadays. Despite me being into Alastor fujo ships since the very beginning, I never in a million years wanted any of them to be canon. I always felt safe for loving Alastor because it seemed like he would be exempt from shipping cancer in the show itself. At the very least, I was okay with the idea of Alastor having a complicated relationship with Charlie since it would make sense. But now that he's going to be forced into a slop ship with Lucifer (and even worse, possibly be the one to PURSUE it) has me feeling betrayed. It's even more complicated since I actually did ship radioapple in the pilot days, but the way it ended up in the show (along with Lucifer being so disappointing) and the way the fandom portrays it turned me off it completely.
