But it does have an important role in the plot, whether or not the reveal of what that is is satisfying you'll have to wait and see. HMOFA stories IMO suffer a major protagonist problem and people rarely break the mold, which is fine, but when you start with a window into something outside of the mold and then instantly shatter it, it makes the problem much more obvious, where a story starting with a gigachad protagonist would not have this issue. Selfishly I must state part of what made me irritated was a story about a mullet-having Trucker/Space Trucker is actually a very visually interesting protagonist to imagine in a Rimworld situation, whereas Mr. Clean is quite the opposite.
