I've been working on this one for about two weeks trying to get it out. Once again the transition scenes were what killed me. But I think it ended up being double length.

I also was able to use Novel AI's new 'precise reference' tool that makes it much easier to recreate the same characters in new poses, and I was looking for new images to throw in as well, so I think overall it's a good thing.

Anyway, I haven't got any comments on it yet, so please check it out and give me some feedback.

I think I fried my brain gooning with AI Dungeon. I treated it like a text adventure or video game, thinking "oh, this is a fun way use my writing ability in a private way," thinking it was harmless. My motivation/reward system feels more dead than it even was before. Everything I write now reads like insipid AI output. Call, response, call, response. Descriptive prose doesn't come to me like it used to. I have to strain to think of anything beyond my basic vocabulary. I hate AI. I hate AI art, AI writing, but more so I hate myself for believing I any different just because I wasn't publishing it, seeing it as cheap jerk off material without realizing the damage it was doing to my thought process. Re-reading my old writing is like reading somone else's for the first time. I can't fathom how I did it then, but I want to get back to where I was, and be even better. I can never get back the time I wasted with AI, but at least it won't take any more of what I still have.

I stopped using Dungeon AI when censorship started triggering with words like 'boy' and 'girl'. And I'm all for constraints on AI- but I think it should be more about how people try to implement them in business, not use them personally.

Anyway- I've used AI writing and art to jackoff, but at most I've used it as a bit of an idea farm for actually writing, because AI can't do things like themes to make something compelling. I do find it does a lot better when I just tell the AI what scenes I want, or plot-threads to follow, but it's still lacking in making it come together.

So lets try a writing experiment you and I. Lets see if we can cobble together a story.

First we should pick a genre or setting. Then a couple of character archetypes you enjoy, And then a theme that would drive the story forward.

Anybody here read Dante's Inferno? I haven't but from what I've gathered it's like ancient christian fanfic right?
>>
>>81515807
More or less. Dante is guided by and interacts with the people he adores, and sees those he doesn't like are punished, all based around the time of his existence.
>>
>>81515807
I read it back in high-school- with a version that was side-by-side with the italian version.

Now- people often deride it as Dante's fanfiction, and it very much IS that. However, it's more than that as well.

What we should keep in mind is people weren't really in the habit of writing NEW stories in medieval europe. Most stories were written as a matter of historic fact- when people read the Odyssey they were reading it as history. Now- christians thought all the gods were secretly demons the entire time, but otherwise they figured everything recounted was a historic event. Not like archaeology had been invented or anything. This is why most mythic accounts written in the middle ages tend to bend over backwards in the prologue to justify clearly non-christian figures having magic and such as actually being misinterpretations, or secretly kosher with the bible in some inane way (for instance- the Prose Edda states the Norse Gods were actually Trojan refugees who were so advanced the ancient Norse mistook them for Gods).

So what Dante was doing in writing a story not just in his native language (when everything else considered to be of REAL merit was in Greek or Latin) but also a contemporary story that referenced contemporary figures was something audiences had never seen. It should also be worth noting that while a lot of Dante's political enemies show up consigned to Hell- this is also at the height of corruption in Italy, both at the secular and theocratic levels, and these kinds of critiques were things that later came to a head in the reformation era.
(cont.)
>>
Dante is also very much trying to draw parallels with the ancient world, with biblical and classical figures showing up (such as his guide Virgil the Roman Poet) and then-modern italian politics. In fact he was an early embracer of round-earth theory which then was considered quite a novel way to understand the world (at the end of the book he reaches the bottom of Hell, crawls down Satan's nethers, and pops up in Purgatory, a physical island on the opposite side of the earth)

And likewise it's also an attempt to reconcile Roman mythology with Christian mythology. With the Renaissance there was quite a bit of patriotic italian buzz about the rediscovery of knowledge of the Roman Empire. Obviously people in the middle-ages knew about the Roman Empire, which is why there were so many ruins. And of course the Romans feature in the Bibles. But that was the extent to which they understood it. Legally speaking in the Christian world the HRE was the current incarnation of the Roman Empire was mostly situated in Germany. But the rediscovery of classical knowledge in the middle ages meant people began to have a much greater appreciation of how it was formed, it came to be, met its end, what it was like at the time. You should also keep in mind that Italians in a lot of ways had more in common with the Germans at the time- at least in the North. They were part of the HRE whose Emporer was Austrian, and the Italian culture formed as Germans (Lombards) invaded from the north and settled there.
>>
So the Renaissance helped Italians form a much more distinct regional identity amongst medieval cultures despite being (at the time) relative bit players. And more specifically was Florentine national identity since Dante specifically tries to liken Florence's republic with the Roman republic, trying to position Florence as the true inheritor of Rome's legacy. And hence his trying to weave together classical history with christian myth- since otherwise a lot of classical history was considered to Pagan to be acceptable to admire (which was a shifting attitude in the Renaissance).

TLDR: Try playing Devil May Cry first, and if you liked it maybe try reading the book.

Okay, I did an extra scene which is good progress.

But now I'm trying to figure out how to move forward...

Right now I'm in a position where I can and probably should reshuffle the characters. Monica/Ashflame/Mirmulnir and her vampire mom are now out of the plot until the finale. So that's taken care of.

Eveline/Valen I already know what to do with.

Erica/the Siren I want in the plot a bit longer, but I'm not sure how to have her pop up. Basically the idea is she's been demoted from big-bad-guy, because her plot to resurrect the Void-Father was a bad one- she can't make him do anything, and he wants to destroy the world (while she wanted to rule the world). I'd like some scenes with her and the Void Father, but I'm not sure how to reintroduce her. Also scenes with her and Lucy.

Elizabeth I'm thinking I should kill her off. I just gave her a new model, but I don't have anything I really need her to do, and I should avoid some cast-bloat (something I'm guilty of). But I feel like I should have a little send-off or something with her. Problem is I'm thinking is how I handle Tsubara, since she's quite protective of Elizabeth (in a very tsun-tsun way), and if she finds out Elizabeth is dead she's going to get VERY aggro.

Jayden I'm wondering how I should handle her. I'm thinking she actually wants to be killed off because she is limited in what she can do in her DMPC form, and wants to switch to her DM form and dying would make that easier. But then I don't know what to do with her DM form. I'm thinking the rationale for her not being able to fix things is the idea that literally 'the story is running away from her'. She can't just use the hand of the author to end things, and has to let plot-threads come to their conclusion.

I have. Worth a weekend or two of beach reading.
I guess fanfic is a modern way of looking at it, sure. I think it's worth a read even if only to broaden your horizons with something different. He's certainly far more entertaining than reading the bible itself. As SAmaster discusses, you might want to nab an annotated edition to better appreciate some of the satirical snark and cultural immersion. Otherwise, if your tastes run to something more modern, Graham Greene was notoriously contemptuous of the cartoonish elements of religion in his own work. The Power and the Glory is another christian fanfiction of a sort. Or, if your tastes run to satire, Messiah by Gore Vidal is a retelling of christian history in a modern (pre-Internet) setting. Christian fanfic abounds and with many a fun read to be had.
>>
>>81521837
Yeah, one of the issues is Dante kinda didn't consider us reading the book 700 years in the future, so when he makes reference to then-contemporary Italian politics it's easy to be lost on a modern viewer. References to classical historical and mythical figures might also be lost on the viewer if you aren't familiar with the gist of that period.

It's a lot like if a movie today was making reference to guys like Tucker Carlson being half-way submerged in the frozen lake at the bottom of hell. Yeah, WE know why someone would write that about Tucker Carlson. But someone 700 years from now probably won't.

If we're talking about the classics though, Paradise Lost is meant to be Satan/Lucifer's origin story, and I've wanted to give that one a read. It's arguably the last of a series of epics going back to the ancient Greeks- the Illiad and Odyssey were part of the same cycle (we lost the other 10 books in the cycle to history- but we at least have the spark-notes version) while the Aenied was a Roman Era addendum to it (written by Virgil, arguably as political satire). Dante was trying to write the Divine Comedy (three books) as a continuation of this style, and Paradise Lost was similarly an attempt to write epic poetry in the vein of the classics.
>>
While we're on the topic, anyone have opinions on urban fantasy using classical religious/mythic motifs?

My sister made me watch a ton of Supernatural. Which I liked way more when it was being silly than when it was being serious. It otherwise had an abysmally depressing tone. I suspect held up entirely by incestuous homo-erotic tension from the male leads (and I say that as someone whose mother and little sister were big fans of the show). Never saw Buffy, but after Firefly I kinda swore off Joss Whedon (even before he got cancelled). Lucifer was great, except for an overly melodramatic ending that is sadly the par for long running shows.
>>

>Paradise Lost
Also worth a weekend or two read. It's funny how Satan comes across as more of a Che Guevara to modern readers. So, an annotated edition may be of use as well. However, I think it stands on its own without footnotes.
On the idea of fanfictions inspired by older classic fanfiction, here's something to consider after you have a go at Paradise Lost. The Age of the Fish, by Ödön von Horváth. It's sort of Horváth's short read retelling of PL with a modern humanistic school teacher taking on the role of Satan. Fair warning, don't be put off by the title of chapter 1. Horváth was certainly saying something with it, in a slap in the face way. He was being sly.
And, yeah, mucho good fiction with religios themery!
As well, someone was bitching about overdosing with AI? Well, plenty of reading suggestions as a cure to get your mojo back.

The quote I've heard to summarize it is 'Milton spoke ample of hell and sparse of heaven, because he was of the Devil's own party, and did not know it'.

The main issue I think narratively speaking when it comes to themes like this is flawed characters is where all the pathos is. The stuff that's interesting to explore narratively. God is all-perfect right? At least if you want to be religiously accurate. So... what would God's character arc be? He has to start and end a perfect character. And not everyone can be Johnny Depp.

Meanwhile with Satan you get to mine a classical tragic character arc of someone whose character flaws bring them from the top of society to the bottom. And readers can relate much more to having flaws and trying or failing to overcome them, than it is to relate to a being who physically can do no wrong.

Which leads to the modern urban-fantasy trope where in order for the story to work they ALL require God to either be evil, or to have fucked off. Otherwise conflict isn't really possible, and conflict is the heart of all stories.

I think it's likewise why Dante's Inferno is the most famous compared to Purgatorio and Paradiso. The Inferno is filled to the brim with Pathos. Purgatorio has some fucked up moments, but doesn't really interrogate the human soul in the same way (though I think one could with the set-up of someone working off their sins). And Paradiso is kind of an acid trip.
>>
>>81522637
>dat quote
And much lawl was had, yes. One suspects a certain jealousy of his works popularity. All the more of a recommendation, in my opinion.
>>
>>81522637
>what would God's character arc be?
His character arc is spending thousands of years trying to save humans from their own sin (especially the Israelites). He then has a whole arc where he comes to earth as a man, and gets killed by the religious leaders for calling himself God (which was part of the plan) and then resurrect three days later.

I think there is plenty of pathos there. The motif for this characters is trying to save others from themselves.

Religion in modern fiction doesn't feel authentic because it makes too much sense. The Christian story goes "To demonstrate my loving nature, I sacrificed myself to myself to convince myself to accept your pleas for mercy instead of condemning you to eternal torture for the crime of being a distant descendant of a women who obeyed a talking snake while being incapable of knowing it was wrong." Not even King of Dragon Pass's literal mountain-fucking scene reaches this level of crazy, and the Glorantha setting was written by a practicing shaman.

Cowboy Angels, I forget the author.

In an alternate timeline version of the USA, Alan Turing never dies, moves to the US, and discovers how to tunnel into other alternate-timeline versions of the USA, where they form a pan-dimensional country. Due to a quirk of the universe only timelines where something changed from the past 50 years (the book is set in the 80's) or timelines where humans never existed can be entered. There are constants to each universe though- the time is always the same, geography is the same, coca-cola always tastes the same, and there's always an Elvis Presley.

The main character is a retired Cowboy Angel, a spy sent to other timelines to research them for the government. He lives in New York City, a small frontier town where the normal New York would be if not for the fact in that timeline Mammoths are still around. But he's dragged into a crazy spy thriller when the daughter of his ex-partner shows up claiming the recently dead partner has been spotted alive, and his girlfriend winds up dead. Apparently his partner has found some sort of 'key' that when used at interdimensional gateways in the subway stations can allow for limited time-travel of a couple days.
>>81524520
Yeah, but people also understand the world very differently. We understand more about how the world works, and we expect a similar level of concrete understanding out of religion now- even though we are applying standards to something they were not meant to live up to. It is what it is.

I finished this story a while back and never really got around to uploading it until now. It's not quite how I envisioned the story to go, but I don't think I was up to the challenge in the first place with a slow burn whittling away of will. I think I'm still proud of parts of it, however, and I'm glad it's done. Hopefully it's at least marginally entertaining to the few that have their interest piqued by it.

The basic gist is that it's a Project Moon fanfiction. An older Fixer named Alys (6'3", 53 year old) taking on a younger assistant Huon (5'4", 19-20 range), not exactly to her wishes. At first he's mostly an admirer of his perceived hero, but as events unfold, he takes on a more lustful interest in her that eventually corrupts into a toxic relationship between the both of them. Now, perhaps even moreso.

I'm a big fan of it so long as it doesn't feel like it's just religious pandering on either side. The recent show Evil has some cool episodes but it feels a little too black and white about things. I tend to like religion based urban fantasy when its more mysticism inspired. My two favorite shows are Carnival and Twin Peaks, both shows that use a lot of spirituality to really sell the supernatural aspects of the show. Carnival is a lot more Christian faith based, though, and while it does have an evil priest, it never goes for the "religion bad" thing.
>>
>>81528216
Yeah, I don't think I saw it often, but I do felt like occasionally Supernatural and Lucifer pulled their punches when it came to critiquing certain things.

For instance- they had a few episodes establishing that in addition to christian myth, all the 'pagan' gods are also real. But they also very clearly put them on a lower power-scale of all the angels and God. Which is a common trope for this stuff. The main issue is one of the characters that show up is Ghanesh from the Hindu pantheon. And like- if you know anything about hinduism, the power-scaling does NOT work there.

>and while it does have an evil priest, it never goes for the "religion bad" thing.
I'm an atheist, but my personal stance is that faith is not a bad thing. Faith is personal. I believe people are entitled to their own faith.

I think the issue with religion is religion is universally controlled by old men and it inevitably devolves into just being politics. It's not so much that you aren't allowed to worship the sky-diety of your choice. It's that you're an idiot if all it takes for someone to say 'I'm religious and that means I speak for your religion' and for you to listen to them.
>>
>>81523038
You can spin off your own fanfic like the chronicles of Narnia. Finding the figure of Christ in literature is a popular academic pastime.
>>
>>81528963
Eh. I only read the first book, but honestly I share the same critiques of Narnia as Tolkien.

The issue for Tolkien wasn't the christian stuff, he himself was christian and put christian stuff in LotR. He just didn't shove it down peoples throats- Gandalf is essentially an Angel, but it doesn't really preach to the audience and if you just want him to be a wizard the story works just fine.

But Aslan IS Jesus.

Likewise- Tolkien focused heavily on worldbuilding- which informs the genre as we know it. He wanted the world to feel lived in and real. And Lewis was like 'dude it's a kids book, it's not that deep'. Which makes it feel a lot more shallow. A lot like how people grow up and realize Harry Potter lacks a lot of depth in the setting (though I personally don't think it's a bad story because of it- but it is a disappointment for fans who want more to chew on).

Requesting a forbidden romance between a human girl, and a large (talking) male snake.

In this story, the male snake is in love with a human girl. For reasons entirely dependent on the plot and setting, their relationship is forbidden, and for those reasons and more of her own, she turns him down. However, he does not give up and she eventually succumbs to his advances. As their relationship develops, they have to face society and the consequences of such a union.

Initially, the protagonists are already familiar enough that they can spend extended amounts of time together, giving him enough opportunity to try to woo her. She initially turns him down for a number of potential reasons. First of all, there relationship would be socially devastating, with potential consequences ranging from ostracism, to prison, banishment, and even death, depending on the setting. Second, her social environment may have subconsciously affected her in a way that makes her unable to even think of him as a potential partner. Third, she sees him mostly as a friend, so she is not initially interested in him romantically. Lastly, like most normal humans, she simply doesn't find snakes sexually attractive. All of these reason will make it challenging for the snake to convince her, but he is persistent, and with some help from the plot, he eventually manages to seduce her.

In the beginning of their relationship, the girl's attachment to him remains mostly emotional. She is in love with him but still not sexually attracted (yet). That is not an issue for him, who as a snake has a very low sex drive and who is very happy to be in a relationship with her at all. Eventually however, she still wants to have sex with him, mostly out of a desire to give herself to him.

Later as their relationship develops, she becomes more sexually attracted and they can have more creative sex.

I have more to say about this but this post is getting long. I welcome any discussion about it.

Sounds like a setup for an Eve and the Apple plot. but with more sex.

I read it without knowing the setting and still had fun with it. If the concept of a mature woman getting dicked down and tamed sounds good to you, then it's a great read!

Wow there are a ton of requests in here. Can't believe I never noticed this before. There's a comment in here that dates back to 2018.
>>
>>81537269
Does anyone even look at that doc? Usually requests are just dumped directly into the thread.
>>
>>81539250
Doubt it, but its there. Might get lucky with a writefag... one day.
>>
>>81539250
4chan as a whole no longer has enough artists to sustain a request culture, much less writers. How about them readers for writer requests? Yeah. Drop whatever request in thread and light a black candle, or something.
>>
>>81537120
Your best bet is to shout in the void and roll rng to see if anyone has interest in the idea. The chance of an idea being picked up is very low (especially for writing), but it's not zero.
>>
>>81537269
These requests are ancient. I I don't know why we still keep this doc in the OP. All of these look like they are from back when this thread was still on >>>/d/ and that was years ago.

>>81537120
I think it is pretty safe to say no one will see your request if you post it in the doc. You should just post it in the thread and hope someone is interested. You are unlikely to get a reply but still more likely than posting it in the doc.
>>
>>81540648
If you think that's bad check out /d/ Master List itself.
>This Space for Rent or Lease
Much lawl.
Someone should probably nix the /d/ historical stuff in the OP and roll out a little modernized google doc.
The rest of the OP guides and links are good stuff.

The Huon in the new published chapters feels a bit more like an obsessed mother trying to keep someone out. That's my impression even after he 'owns' Alys.
Kinda reminds me of that song I heard about Harpy Hare and her Children
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-I1lT6Jbdo

>All of this, just because she showed a shred of kindness.
A lot of things happen, for better or worse, because someone showed kindness in the City. A colored Fixer shared some of her money she got from her job to the folks that raised her, and they tried to raid her place to find anything else.
Spare someone? Watch as they come back kicking and screaming for revenge that isn't even founded.
>A misery rolled over Alys’s nerves
Remove A

By about Chapter 11, I finally get the vibe of what the shift felt more like. You know how it is often stereotyped that women fantasies sometimes consist of being intensively obsessed over by a love interest to the point of insanity with domination? That's the vibe the shift had. Maybe it was due to the long pause between chapters, but I can't really say if I like this dynamic now that I see it play out. I know it was part of the original idea where a seasoned Fixer ends up taking in a fledgling, who gains substantially more power to eventually overtake her, but this is probably a good time in a while that I saw an individual get broken down over time instead of just one chapter.
Did the commissioner gave instructions for the chapters or was it more open reign at this point?

>You’ve gained quite the ego for your size
Hoo boy.
I do think Chapters 12 and 13 should be fused though. 12 is significantly short enough to basically become a continuation of 13, and I think it would make for an alright smoothing over as the 'aftermath' of that mission.

Overall, I knew warnings going into it, but the ending does feel like a downer, an alright fit for the likes of the City. Alys's one kindness left her in a gilded cage, her own City in a City

I'm honestly more surprised at the development of Jae. At first there was clear sense of tension between her and Alys, but whether out of pity or a hidden sense of comradery/own idolization, even she seems disgusted at what Huon has turned into. Yet Eun still lets it all play out so that she can have a competent Fixer under her thumb. I don't think she really thought it through though, since having more competent fixers on hand would be more useful than just one. You'd think two would be good, no?
I guess in the end, Eun was the winner.
A shame that no EGO was manifested, not was there any signs of distortion, but to be fair, there was no guarantee that it would have showed up in the first place. Her being left chained up at he house did seem like a good chance for a distortion to take place though, same for when he saw Alys get hurt again.

Yeah, the title is a good fit for the story, but admittedly, after playing some Limbus and watching the rest, I'd maybe amend the title of the fic to "One of The Worst Romances in the City" instead. Things apparently can get so much worse.

I hunger for more cookie run girl sexo, but my mind was drawing a blank on ideas until just now.

I'll toss an idea involving Nutmeg Tiger Cookie, which broke free out of a guy's phone or tablet after he fucks up and lets his device overheat while playing Cookie Run Kingdom on said shitty device, causing an explosion and manifesting her into existence. Rather than being tiny, I think it'd be nice for her to be like 3 or 4 feet tall (shortstack). Being in a sudden, unknown world, she immediately makes a mess of the place and is hostile to the guy, trying to slash and stab him to put her back. While she's bigger than he expected, he manages to wrangle her down despite the threat and heat, and, being a cat, he uses butt slaps and scratches to make her climax and calm down.
She still tries challenging him a number of times, disbelieving that someone so squishy and underbaked could best her, let alone her master, but she fails each time, leading to more humiliating climaxes and exposed. If violence isn't working, she tries spice challenges, but she learns that he's a spice enthusiast, and discovers just how hot a meal with ghost pepper really is. Guy tricks her to having a make out session with him to cool the new spice when she can't take it, which only leaves her more hot and bothered.
The constant losses eventually has her admit to him being stronger than her, and without a master in sight, she offers him to be her new master. Sexy cat sex fight ensues for dominance, and she is cummed inside of.

>Catgirl/sphinx, spanking, collar, forced submission, spice, kissing, claw marks
