Use an interesting conflict or situation. Personally I've found that people respond well to making the whole experience as vivid as possible, focussing on both the physical sensation as well as the emotion. Hard to get bored if you're getting swept up I guess. Other than that it's just providing a logical but entertaining run-up. Well that and adjusting the transformation to the trigger. Somebody transfroming from touching a magic orb should have the TF run up their arm, whereas somebody kicking it should have it creep up and somebody getting domed by that same orb should have it run from the head down. Accurately describing the different reactions from the character to the different triggers and progess is half the work as far as the TF itself goes.
