Take for example the latest TADC episode where the German translation winged it and gave some extra dialog to certain characters where the original version didn't have that. It's very easy for things to get lost in the lingual shuffle and people deciding to take certain liberties to get the point across in a translation, which Toby probably doesn't like the idea of. Then the pizza, then Kris. The pizza, Kris. And so on, and so forth.>And then... she laughed.>"Hahaha! Damn it, Kris, you almost had me for a second! But listen up: I'm not that stupid. Why don't you take a slice first? You bought it, after all.">Kris simply smiled. And nodded. And he picked up a slice, brought it to his mouth... and bit into it.>He chewed it, and he swallowed it. This old tweet put the thought into my head that the odd spellings for Suzy and Kris are an insight into how Toby's weeby mind works. Suzy and Kurisu (or Kris once corrected) would be the common way of spelling Susie and Chris in Romanji. It does beg the question of why Toby re-settled on Susie for Deltarune, though. You could fanrot and theorize that it's intentional to show that Susie is an outsider to Hometown because her name is neither thematic or unusual — perhaps fanrotting further and theorizing that "Susie" is the common spelling among humans and "Suzy" among monsters, but it's probably nothing like that.Still, I'm curious why the change was made. It's not like every character who appeared/was mentioned in Undertale had their name remixed in Deltarune.
I'm a sucker for stories and ideas where Susie is trying to initiate the romance instead of Kris.
