i disagree, you need all of that because that's pretty much the cyoa's baseline, not having it feels like a ripoff and like you failed in making a proper build

having tested out a few builds, 1d for immortality, 1d for an inner realm, and 1d or 2d for a class or class combo feels more or less mandatory, if you aren't getting all that then the question is why you're even making a build for this cyoa where that seems like the core features of the cyoa

you could do something like an exponential difficulty, 100 corruption might take you a year to get out, 200 ten years, 300 a hundred years, 400 a thousand

Just don't make them ego death, life crippling awful. Make them something to the likes of divine trials, sure it's bad but it's not crippling bad. Most of the test builds picked that option.

Like your inner realm possibility being encroached sure it's bad, but its not that bad that only min makers would pick it.

Remember having a bit of trouble unlocking the last lewd combo that requires the previous 3 combos and as result had to pick more drawbacks, but I assume that was intentional? The world changes that make everything more dangerous give you a nice amount of points but I feel like the cyoa should have more drawbacks and lewd drawbacks too, or maybe make so the current ones guve a extra +1 or +2 points maybe.

Beyond worldbuilding autism, I'd generally agree. A big chunk of the tone is that these conditions are treated somewhat mundanely and exist in their own narrative slices. Each one could be expanded to their own thing, but that could be a bad idea.

Just by looking at the options, despite calling itself a bird "girl" cyoa you can have a dick, have a masculine face, manly or average proportions, and several images have bird guys in them, in the very first section the Raptor Bird image is clearly a dude. The "race" of Sothym series. None of them were specifically about being a girl, just a monster person of some kind. It was supposed to be 3 trilogies, for a total of 9 at least, with angels and demons being next I think. On one hand it was a really cool concept, just a series of cyoas that are like coosing your class in a game to end up in the same place, but on the other the author kinda shot themselves in the foot with the lore. Lamias are actually sea serpents and Harpies are actually more like angels. That will create some overlap at some point, mermaids and angels would have the niche already taken, and undeads kinda already are pretty demonic. I still kinda hope the series comes back, but it wasn't very future proofed for its own concept.

A lot of them are intended to be like that, hell the perks also look like something a masochist slut would want a lot of the time. But other times it's just the author not understanding balance. Like in this case, it's a combination of the setting not being explained and the author being someone that would settle for less. Some people consider being the top 10% of the setting as good enough and even thriving, for others it's considered the bare minimum to scrape by and not be miserable. In this specific circumstance you can't even blame the latter, after all cultivation is a genre known to be hell for whoever isn't at the top of the food chain and doesn't have some kind of cheat to keep being there with a large enough advantage compared to the runner ups.

Well, more rituals does mean more chances to fail, but this is still a pretty good outcome. I don't have the option for a comfy time studying up on the Mystic Spark, but I do have centuries of knowledge on tap and Fast Travel as an eject button if I'm in over my head. Yes Master means that anyone who gets captured can be quickly brainwashed and will joyfully explain to me the full scope and participants in any plots against me, and Made to Serve means that I have a bevy of beautiful servants on tap to fit any mood. Anything that cannot resist laws can be instantly destroyed and perfectly defended against. Yeah, I think this is the main thing. There's also the fact that their pictures are really small. You can learn a lot about a character by the expression on their face, but in many cases I can barely see what they look like. Bigger pictures also makes it seem less like a massive wall of text. I think the pictures for each waifu should be approximately as big as the picture of Daji on the first page. After all, they're what the CYOA is all about, right?
There's also the fact that in some cases I think I would have preferred not knowing the personal demons of the characters (pun not intended). Sounds like they've got a lot of stuff going on in their lives already? Plus traumas and such. Basically, you're reminding me of the inherent fridge logic of waifu pickers: that these are supposed to be real people, not pets designed solely to be part of my own life story, whom I would be stealing from their own lives. The more I know about their circumstances the more I remember that. Some waifus even explicitly state that they'll be very sad if they're taken away from their family. It's kind of a boner killer.
Well, that's just how I personally feel about it as someone who hasn't played any of these games.
As for mechanical critiques, I wouldn't mind an option to buy a power without the associated hero. Huge harems can get unwieldy. But I suppose that goes against the spirit of what Daji wants to do here?

Normally a waifu having a backstory, friends, family, and plot is a good thing, because it means it gives you a hook to imagine inserting yourself into. It works at odds when you're taking them out of that context and enslaving them though. Not a lot of people actually like fantasizing about being actually evil to real characters instead of just generic enemies.
