I'm not denying furries hada hand in it making a lot but most of it came from overseas markets where it was huge. Are they that filled with furries? I do think releasing the third film in 2029 would make financial sense to go along with year of the chicken. They said it wouldn't take nearly as long for part 3 to come like it took 2. As long as I enjoy it as much as 1 and 2 then I'll be happy. My money is on either 2029 for year of the chicken, or 2030 to move the numbers around to make ZOO 3.

Honestly I knew the human thing would be a hangup for people, but it's interesting to see how people get hung on it in different ways.
Many including myself usually aren't into human in Zootopia in general. Let's call it HiZ for short. However I thought that beyond disliking HIZ, the methods of humans entering the world didn't matter much, only what they did when they got there.
The boats thing I put in was basically done to leave things vague and open ended for short episodic stories. I can use it to write many or few humans, men/women. Very rare/foreign or becoming more familiar etc. It's not meant to be a grand overarching plot.

Yeah there was some fuckery for sure, or Gary climbed up somewhere to get there faster. I feel like Nick falling and Judy's run happened moments apart. Like we see Judy get stabbed in the heart and run up the steps presumably Gary right behind. For it to make sense Nick and Pawbert had to be hanging there for a few moments waiting for the ice to break. Their convo before it breaks could be interesting.

I've just been posting it here to random anons because after a while of writing something - and it is a while because i am slow and read and rewrite things to an absolute fault- i feel like i lose the ability to tell what is good or not. Oh no, Nick in this fic genuinely thinks Judy is asexual. For reasons which will become more apparent next chapter.

Which is a happy coincidence for him because while he is attracted to her, he is also really not looking for a relationship right now due to his breakup with his last BFF; who being a borderline paranoid conspiracy theorist and anarchist did not take it all that well when her best friend became a fucking cop.

Part of the reason why i dont want to post to Ao3 yet is because these two chapters haven't even really set up the main point of the fic yet. Which is genuinely Judy trying to figure out why they aren't dating, what interspecies dating even looks like in Zootopia and what Nick's (incredibly fucked up) dating history is.

Something that annoys me a little is when people assume Nick - the guy who's life is so interesting he is on first name basis with a fucking mob boss - just wasnt doing anything with his life until Judy showed up.
So part of his fic is yeah, Nick actually has had past relationships, every single one of them has been with someone who is not another fox because Nick has way too much self-loathing to consider same-species relationships, and they were all so fucking depressing that he's actually fucking stoked about having a completely platonic relationship with this wonderful bun.

Course, yknow, Judy might have something to say about that when she gets used to the idea that a fox and bunny even *can* date.

I really like the idea of a fic exploring a reason why they might not be rushing into a relationship other than "there's no way she/he is into me." Yearning is fun and all, but there's a lot more interesting stuff you can do with the two of them beyond that.

I'm also looking forward to the stuff about Nick's exes. One of the ideas I might eventually try and write was a bunch of loosely tied one-shots where they keep bumping into each other's (mostly Nick's) exes for different reasons (arrests, contacts for investigations, etc for Nick, on the other hand probably something like them visiting Bunnyburrow and Judy's ex is now dating one of her sisters). I was thinking something a lot more light-hearted than what it sounds like for your fic though, lol.

And that sounds like a cute idea! I would say for Nick's exes, I have a hard time envisaging them as not being kind of depressing. Since Nick's past life kind of... is? Like, isn't Nick's character background basically him leaning into being a piece of shit because he knows deep down that's all foxes can be?

That doesn't sound like great grounds for a positive relationship. In a sort of 'you have to love yourself before you can love others' sort of thing. For example imagine Nick having dinner with his girlfriends family and being like 'oh yeah, I'm a scam artist' or lying about his actual career; sounds like ti would send him through a self-hatred spiral.

Though of course there's levels of depressing and not everything has to be a deep psychological reflection of all your past traumas. I think ive done a pretty good job with humour so far, so I'm hoping that i can be nice and miserable but still keep things enjoyable to read.

On Judy, a lot of people portray Judy as a virgin, but I dont personally like that all that much. I do think she wouldn't have cared much for relationships though. I see her more as having done them as a 'try everything' sort of deal with her determined to get the most out of life, and less because she actually wanted to that much.
Yknow, pursued with her usual level of determination, then dropped when they didnt suit whatever her life needed. Which probably would have made the bucks feel a bit like a checklist instead of a person honestly.

I'd be interested to see what someone else made of their potential past exes though and its something Zootopia fics dont usually cover (which is part of why i wanted to do it myself).

I think Judy yearning can work if you call attention to it being a new sort of thing to deal with for her, like it's the first time there's something she wants but has some reason to think that she can't ever get it. Maybe tough to make work but there's some space to play in there.

The fic idea would be keeping things silly/more surface level for the most of it, but yeah I think a serious take on Nick's exes would be pretty depressing. A (very) long time ago, I wrote something in here about Nick in past relationships. I had him being a romantic at heart and great at flirting/wooing, but as soon as things got serious he couldn't be vulnerable and would just start self-sabotaging. I think someone else described him as a pathologically lonely social butterfly, lol.

And I definitely agree on Judy making her exes feel like checklists. A lot of her side of the conflict in Z2 would translate to a romantic relationship too. It'd be hard to feel like her partner if she didn't know how to listen to anyone who wasn't herself/equated compromise to giving up.

Can't say I buy that the box office is $1.8bil off of furries, but I definitely believe that Z1/Z2 is going to be responsible for a huge percent of the next generation of furries.
