>>82592568Good morning frens
Where can I find resources for muscular men?Like, really muscular men. I have books and books filled with pretty muscular guys but not in the way an olympic lifter or even a body builder looks (though body builders look pretty fucked up so probably less of them.)I've been reading some Absolute Batman lately, and really like how they've designed Batman. Bit of a step above the usual statuesque body type you see in comic books. Looks more like a real muscular guy.

Lost my reference. I am finished.
>>82599128BumpReally happy with the composition here: has an almost classical vibe to it. The actual lines are pretty nice too, though I have a lot more work to do before we're done.
>>82598300Horizons and stuff
i think i posted this in the wrong thread at 2 am. butts are very difficult to get down. very delicate things
still having direct eye contact problem. but im tired. so i will go to bed. or play morrowind

What do you guys do when you just have 0 motivation for the day?
>>82614191jerk off to clear my mind
I love sketching but I will never ever ever ever line and color a piece
Oh neat. I forgot how to draw again.
>>82614191For drawing, or in general? For drawing, I have a set of warm ups I do no matter what, even if I flake out for the rest of the day
>>82609622this works, don't worry about it. better to finish it then stay on one thing
>>82609397This doesn't explain anything. How do I make the shapes in step 2? Also have the same issue with clouds and fur and leaves.
>>82618604it assumes you're able to visualize the shapes of the formation itself. Which you should be able to do since that skill translates to literally drawing anything in art. It's a bunch of smaller circles attached to a giant semi circle, with alot of random strokes here and there of varying thickness.
DRAW NIGGA DRAW
>>82622127I SAID DRAW
>>82625592Ugly fit
Finally back home, time to draw
I get SO JAZZED to draw sometimes and I get so excited to create, and then it just doesn't work, and then I feel bad for the rest of the day. What to do about this feel
feeling extremely demotivated by how good genAI has gotten tbquitedesu, I think I'm gonna give up and pawn my tablet for GPU money
>>82629820>>82629588you aren't built to draw, go find another hobby.
>>82629904I don't think you can draw better than that gen tbquitelowkirkenuallydesu anon, so maybe you should too
>>82629942i draw for personal reasons that aren't dependent on others, not to be better than a gen. Which is why you're likely here baiting instead of drawing.
>>82629820Go back to /ic/ nigger, they love posts like this
I finally decided to render fur. It looks pretty okay, although not as good as I’d like. The shadow areas just look like dirt instead of actual shadow and highlights just seem like patterns in the fur rather than actual highlights. How do people render real nice looking fur?
Drew on the wrong layer again award
>>82629904Why are you lumping me in with some genAI retard?I don't think drawing being difficult sometimes means I'm not cut out for it. What kind of logic is that?
>>82632284I don't know why that person was so aggressive. I think at the end of the day, a large portion of art is being able to actively reproduce the reasons he get inspired for the first place, so there is often a lot of frontloading we need to do to actually utilize our inspiration. Can't draw an epic landscape with castles, knights in armor and dragons if I can't draw any of those things. So whenever I get a possible like that I often just go to the one thing that will move me towards that location I want to be. Which is practice. Practice is such a thing devoid of unnecessary biases that I kinda just see the things as "Natural concusion" If I eat junk food I'll get fat, if I do an two hour long jog everyday I'll be skinny, If I practice drawing knights in armor I'll eventually be able to draw knights in armor. So there is far less worry, just a concept that if I do X the natural result will be Y. The weight of my own desire becomes less important than just doing the fucking thing. Now if I don't "Do the fucking thing" I can at least say I'm just being a lazy motherfucker and that's it, no other reasons to bullshit. I don't get to workout today because I'm lazy simple as.
>how good are you at art?>how big is your dick?
>>82630053They don't, actually. He needs to go to /g/, /v/ or /pol/ with the other browns.
>>82632284Art is a multiple year if not decade+ commitment. If you're getting filtered after feeling bad because your first drawings aren't masterpieces, then you're not going to go very far.
>>82632835Where in my post did you get the impression that I hadn't been drawing for years and/or these were my first drawings?Sounds like you're making a lot of silly assumptions. Maybe I just wanted to express frustration.
>>82632859express your frustration elsewhere, if you wanna cry about how hard art is, /ic/ is right there.
Some of you niggas dont have friends and god damn it shows.
>>82632943>niggasah, that explains what's happening. Listen, you can be as passive aggressive as you want, but realize that it wont bring you any closer to your goal, whatever that is. But sure, continue being a dipshit in a thread for drawing when you're free to be a dipshit literally anywhere else.
Anybody have ideas for how I could convey soomething? I want to draw a shortstack Kuromi oiled up with suntan lotion, but that'd be white shine on white fur. Any ideas for how to get that sexy shiny contrast?
>>82634506dont people just add some subsurface scattering red (even if there is fur) or cheat by making the whole picture a specific hue/value so it shifts the character white to another value/hue and you can use pure white for the highlights?
>>82634855Hmm, I could cheat by having her under a pink umbrella, that'll hue-shift her
>>82631803Ignored
>>82635188I have not painted yet, I'm sorry
>>82635211Thank you
>>82629820Sounds like a good idea, have fun jerking off and playing vidya
I'm drawing I swear
'uromi being 'etched, how's she doing?
>>82631803I'm not much of a painter so this will not be an especially in-depth or well-informed critique.Your edges are soft to the point of looking smudged. More contrast and definition would make it much more appealing. You'll might want to use a harder brush. The highlights and many of the shadows are rather blobby, giving the impression of a mostly smooth surface. Everything you choose to render should conform to the fur texture, at least around the edges. I'd just find a tutorial for a style you like, then use that as a starting point.
Bumpin
Bumping with a drawing because these are pretty rare
Also have this version, not sure which looks better or how the render could be made better, I need to find out.Don't bother replying, I could be you. Remember that
>>82641009Neat
>>82641009You can't be me since you actually draw
>>82632898I'll keep that in mind next time, cunt.
>>82631803i'll make a tut give me like 10-20 minutes
>>82634506A shiny white surface is a simple matter of using light greys (or yellowish off-whites for a more natural coloration and blueish off-whites to emphasize where the deeper shadows are) for your midtones and shadows and pure white only as the highlights. There's a few animal species and breeds out there with particularly shiny coats of fur you can look at for reference, such as the Akhal-Teke horse pictured here.
>>82609644It looks like>when painting, make everything brighter>because>when rendering programmatically, in a 3D space, with polygons, I prefer the appearance of a soft light with a harsh shadow transition, which is mostly useful only for sunlit matte surfaces>and thus I will call the virgin DIRTY light and the chad CLEAN light>adjust your artistry appropriately!I would say it's usually good to keep a good handle on contrast but the two artistic exampes are already good without the further step of simply making it brighter... so it added nothing and it doesn't have a stated context you can demonstrate its use in. Again, best use case seems to be broadly lit, or sunlit, matte, if any.>>82618604It's not a very good piece to take example from. It's got a basic idea of (I can't read moonrunes):>draw round shapes as you would a cartoonish or painted bush>make round but distorted shapes by slowly changing your palette from dark to light>add random scatter as if small chunks are being cast out
>>82629820>second vagina hole in the side of the vaginal wall>clit improperly coloured + distorted>no urethra>no butthole>ass in general is as if taken from a more underneath angle, despite tail not being connected>sinister cheek is bald and just painted yellow, or isn't as fat as the legs>navel migrated up to the ribcage>melted irises>melted teeth>melted wooden picture frame>amputated dexter little finger>shiny sinister eyelid (in shadow), non-shiny dexter eyelid (in light)>sinister cheek should not have lighting>gloves reflecting yellow bouncing light despite yellow fur not being on that side>legs demonstrate pillow shading and cast nonsensical shadows onto the sofa and (the lack of) onto each other>body's shadow is using wrong light source>sinister boob should be in complete shadowetc etcI woke up horny today and this is doing nothing for meThe vagina and its colouring is gross
>>82643705>amputated dexter little fingerlots of artists draw characters with four fingers, side from that...>sinister cheek>sinister eyelid>sinister boobI know it means "left" but it's still funny to readAnyway, I agree that AI doesn't hold up to scrutiny, but how many artlets actually spend time analyzing the pictures they consume?
>>82643905>>amputated dexter little finger>lots of artists draw characters with four fingers, side from that...>it's still funny to readI use it because knights are cool and it makes it clear which side of the character I'm talking about so we're not going to look like Laurel and Hardy or the Chucklebrothers when talking about "The left boob!">how many artletsYou mean non-drawers? I guess not reallyWhenever I see modern comics, manga, anime or a vidya game like Hades 1/2 I get grumpy with how ugly it all is, yet these all sold gazoogles of copies and have adoring fansWhen I see something like the Amazing Digital Circus, I realise I'm possibly a one in ten thousand audience member who appreciates the 3D rendering and animation references masquerading as jokes (animation bones, teapots, fingers intentionally phasing through hands), as at least in the first episode they're quite involved and varied, even the early bluescreen reference feels like something the kiddies who watch it will never appreciate... and then when later episodes do even older style references I never really experienced or don't feel nostalgia for... anyway you see by me writing that out I pay attention and I know I'm not a good little consoomerI even notice when an artwork is subtly a 3D render when my art friends don't, I don't know why I'm not even a(n experienced) 3D artistThen people praise weird things that seem awful to me, even with character writing, and you only have to go up to somewhere like /co/ to see seemingly real people obsess over shittily written character #5 (because she's a she and anons are autistically desperate for companionship even without boobs)But then some consoomers get really picky, and it's also WHY someone picks up a product or gets "the ick" - e.g. something as simple as a male or female main character with or without the beholder's race can make or break a sale, and that's before style and context comes into play
>>82644243>picdang, I even saw that and didn't think twice about it>I'm talking about so we're not going to look like Laurel and Hardy or the Chucklebrothers when talking about "The left boob!"Yet you still felt the need to clarify with (in shadow) and (in light)>Whenever I see modern comics, manga, anime or a vidya game like Hades 1/2 I get grumpy with how ugly it all isThere's no accounting for taste when it comes to an artstyle. Some like grungy aesthetics, some like more sterile styles, ultimately it comes down to what (You) like as a creator. But yeah, the typical consumer really doesn't give a shit about what the sausage is made of, they just want their product. If it's a particularly tasty sausage, they'll praise it and recommend it to their friends, but in the end it's still just a sausage to them.
>>82644641>didn't think twice about it>Yet you still felt the need to clarifyYou seem to be hostileMy point was I think the sausage doesn't matter but it also does - if I want a sausage sausage I will avoid straight and rubbery looking ones because that's what I associate with hotdogs, I am not a gourmand yet I am discriminating, style matters, which can be related to vegan meat producers wanting to be indistinct from meat products and their adoring animal hating fans being able to know what is vegan despite protesting "It looks the same!!! Why are you afraid of bad tasting hyper processed salty grains with no nutritional content???"The eyelid clarification was to further point out>shadowed but shiny>lit but no reflectionwhich admittedly isn't clear but I would hope now is for you
>>82644775>You seem to be hostileI'm not, sorry if I made it sound like I am. I just pointed it out.>which admittedly isn't clear but I would hope now is for youBut now you seem hostile. My comparison of art to sausage still stands. (You) like nicer sausages, most people are fine with processed hotdogs, subhumans like their vegan slop.Good art, corporate art, AI slop respectively.

idk if this is the right place to post, but man i feel super discouraged. Feel like my practice sessions go nowhere and im not really improving the way i want to. This is mostly a stupid throwaway vent post anyways
>>82655126You're right. This isn't the right place. /ic/ is on this website if you wanna go whine about how hard art is.
>>82655254I'm surprised you post any where but /ic/ with how much you talk about it.
>>82655305One of the reasons why i no longer post there is because of how obnoxious the 24/7 whining, crying and concern trolling has become. I'm looking for a space for people to post their practice/works, not blogpost. Something that this thread unfortunately has slowly adopted.
>>82655362Maybe try somewhere that only allows images to be uploaded instead of places made for discussion
>>82655126truth be told the same happened to me multiple years ago. I learned to lower the bar by moving towards an easier style to try to gain "Successes" what ended up happening is that after multiple years of pretty much mastering simplistic artstyles that were able to at least bring some of my ideas into reality I had gotten competent enough at drawing as a whole. So I was less afraid to take further steps
>>82655372Or you could stop crying
>>82655512?Well, anyway I'll be filtering you since you contribute nothing to the site. Goodbye.
Guys, can we like not talk to each other like this for like 2 seconds?
>>82655377i dont think that mindset would work for me desu. I just like the habit of drawing alot and going really hard.
>>82656277It's a shame then, it's a powerful method for me. Like I went into art to draw anime, got really filtered by the fact that you needed to be good at anatomy and perspective and all that good shit. then pivoted to cartoons for a long time and then back to anime after I was good.If not for the feeling of success I had with cartoons I probably would have been weighed down too much by my inability to make anything I thought was "Good" granted if I had stuck with it long enough I would have spun my wheels less stylistically and been a far stronger artist quicker. I don't trust myself to have ENOUGH willpower to get me through 24/7 failure alert
I think I'm starting to get better pencil control with my tablet, the face looks very off tho.
Critique on musculature and frame (or whatever else) welcome. Otherwise, time to figure out where to put the fat. Also, anyone have an interactive anatomy model they really like?
My control over proportions is still fucky but i think my shading is getting nicer
>>82662998
>>82629820i know this is bait but i love ai even though i draw. not as a living tho. i see something that it rendered pretty well and i find it to be a challenge to try to recreate it from scratch. for example AFTER i started this piece i saw these abs and i want to try get the layers of shading to look like it. but i get the vibe i technique is not optimal nor the shading i have so far is all that great. i start with the darks then do equal level lights, making multiple layers per shade just so i can keep track better. then merge them to avoid overlaying before softening the lines (rendering i think its called?) but i cant figure an effective way to do this step.
>>82665372i have 3 ways of rendering1-if i use the blur tool its very limited on spread potential.2- a bs way i made up where i select an area, set the brush to soft and a retarded large size, turn off pressure for size and stroke OUTSIDE the selected area, letting the fade effect bleed over but this gets taxing needing to do it for every tiny section of the body and i still have limited gradient control3-a 3rd way is making solid shading, convert to smart object, gaussian blur to do light brushwork on the filter itself to make it not uniform but this method looks sloppy and gives very amateur results.personally im not the biggest fan of the piece but i know the shading phase is whats gonna make it look good.
how the fuck do you draw people from behind theres like no detail in the back this shit is just a blank trapezoid
>>82642478
>>82661116I think you're zooming in on individual parts to much.I would know, I do the exact same thing and make torsos too short all the time.
Do you use a bigger pen for the draft and smaller for the line art, vice-versa, or have them the same size?
>>82673176I always use zh same pencil for everything. Either a 2b or hb in sige
