Are we feeling hopeful for a summer ch 5 , /doe/?
>>82814678September, I called it last year. Still calling it.
>>82814678It's coming out tomorrow.
I don't really think there's any implication of dess and asriel dating, but if they were, given the things we know about asriel from undertale and the things we know about his deltarune counterpart (kris especially seems, at the very least, quite uncomfortable whenever he's brought up,) i don't think them dating would be a good thing for dess. like at all
>>82814954>i don't think them dating would be a good thing for dessBut why exactly? I kinda doubt Kris feels uncomfortable bringing him up because he's not a good person considering Kris's search history was mostly trying to find out when he'd be back from college. Dess having Asriel's sweater is pretty suspect though for potential romantic feelings, though obviously not a concrete indication.
>>82815001It has a lot of archetypes in it i can't stand. Real christian community center bbq vibes. No thanks I like a lot of straight pairings but they have to be 1 not a small-town hallmark channel microcosm and 2 with a few exceptions one of them can't be dead/presumed dead. Queen and her crew have more shiptease in their left pinkies than dess and asriel do in their entire bodies but i guess they're not as speculated on because they never went to a christian community center bbq.
>>82815209>small-town hallmark channel microcosmWhile funny, this doesn't say much in terms of reasoning for why Asriel would be bad for Dess. You're just making a quip.>with a few exceptions one of them can't be dead/presumed dead.I mean sure this one is more fair, but it's running under the assumption that they're being shipped whilst one of them is dead/missing, which in canon isn't the case as signs point to Asriel having moved on from Dess. Even if we're assuming they were, it opens up a can of worms on if Dess is emotionally maturing and aging as she's "lost."
>>82814954>>82815209Wearing his clothes and having his retainer seems like a pretty good implication to me. I think the dynamic of Dess being a rebellious teenager while also being *very* close to Hometown's golden boy is interesting enough on it's own, makes you wonder if the reason they hung out together was because Dess brought Asriel's "bad" side and the opposite for Asriel bringing Dess's "good" side out. It's too early to say if their relationship was healthy or not, but if UT Asriel is anything to go by, I think he was devastated with Dess going missing, he probably hasn't moved on much.
>>82815313 >this doesn't say much in terms of reasoning for why Asriel would be bad for DessTaking a sledgehammer to the archetype of "tragic small-town boy and the girl he liked that 'died'" is something that interests me more than the archetypes played straight. And when played straight, that archetype is very, for lack of better words, "hallmark movie". There’s certainly a sense in the game that dess' memory is somewhat overtaken by asriel's presence, and i think that's interesting to unpack in the context of how his presence literally (kris) and more figuratively (ralsei) overtakes others' in ways that strip them of individual identity. If asriel was just her small-town sweetheart that ended up heartbroken when she died, i wouldn't be interested at all. this isn't about him.
I think Kriselle is at it's peakest when they're both silently yearning for the other. It drives me mad but in a good way
>>82814954>i don't think them dating would be a good thing for dessI have to disagree. Especially for a person like her, being in a relationship with a person like him would do a lot to mellow her out and help her mature>Queen and her crew have more shiptease in their left pinkies than dess and asriel do in their entire bodiesWhat? Even if I agree with you on the fact that them being in a relationship is still fairly ambiguous, this is simply not true. From Asriel lending her his jacket, to (probably) his sweater being in her closet and his retainer in her box of odds and ends, there's enough clues to reasonably assume the two were together.>>82815355>he probably hasn't moved on much.I suppose it depends. If the truth or dare thing happened AFTER the dessappearance, they were either never that close or he had moved on by *then*, which would not be a very long time.
>>82814288Muffet is going to adore Kwisp
>>82815430>he had moved on by *then*, which would not be a very long time. The way I see it is that Asriel is trying desperately to move on but failling. Getting on with other girls, moving far away from Hometown, pursuing a career. It's vain attempts at moving on from her tragic disappearance which left him permanently scarred. >Of course he's fine! >He's Asriel Dreemurr! >Hometown's signature golden child and up and coming shooting star! >He couldn't possiby STILL be depressed about Dess!>He's clearly moved on from someone who he was very close to for an extended part of his life! >No way he's hung up on the closest person outside of his own family just vanishing! He could never! >He is Asriel Dreemurr, after all.>Hometown's pride. That's my own take on it anyway.
>>82815373Anon I'm going to be honest, I have no fucking clue what you're trying to get at due to your over-use of ambiguously worded reasoning and word play. If your intent was to just say you don't personally like it, fair enough. But you can't just start the conversation saying that Asriel wasn't good for Dess and then say>this isn't about him.when he's half of the subject matter.
>>82815508>That's my own take on it anyway. It's not unreasonable. Before ch3&4 I also figured the two were likely close and probably together. The new chapters, and the dynamic they introduced between Susie and Ralsei, makes me think their relationship might not have really been romantic. That's not to say he wasn't distraught at Dess disappearing, but from this angle, they weren't the kind of close that would leave him hollow and miserable.
>>82815528Asriel already had an entire game about him. He does not need any more importance in the story beyond “he and dess knew eachother and he was sad when she went away” what im trying to say is i do not see them as a couple. I don’t want them to be a couple because of reasons that im gonna get into. I call it “hallmark” because it reminds me of those kinds of romcoms with a dorky man and a quirky girl. Textbook pixie dream girl. All the content of it certainly didn’t help.>>82815355>Wearing his clothes and having his retainer seems like a pretty good implication to meI completely forgot this was established my bad. But to get onto my reasoning.(and this is gonna be headcanon territory) Remember when Tenna recalled how he got embarrassed about liking the green dinosaur in super smashing fighters? I think dess was the one who made fun of him for it. You could chalk that up to her being playful just like you can chalk up her treatment of Kris as her being protective. But Toby wouldn’t play this straight. This is the UTDR series where the scary bad guy is actually a brave hero, the troubled outcast is a beacon of hope. But what about the inverse? I think the cool big sister is someone much worse than we’re led to believe. Noelle is just seeing her from rose tinted glasses and blocking out all the things about her that make her uncomfortable. And these uncomfortable truths will be revealed in CH5.
And no, I’m not one of those DOELESTER believers.
>>82815703>He does not need any more importance in the storyI'll concur on that front, as does the game itself it seems considering most of the UT characters are important to the story but not so much so that it overtakes the new character's roles. And again I'll defend your stance on not seeing them as a couple, because while what's there can support the idea, it isn't concrete. Though my one issue with your perspective is that a relationship being stereotypical doesn't necessarily mean it can't exist with flaws therefor adding depth to an otherwise stereotypical relationship, if anything it can make said relationship feel stronger and enjoyable because of it. That being said obviously I don't think the game will go that route of showing their relationship with depth for previously mentioned reasons, if anything fanworks are the thing to do that job.>>82815717Nobody was going to accuse you of that, to be fair. (Because you've actually been good faith and consider canon lmao)>>82815384It's hard to argue otherwise. While I consider when their relationship is mended, and their wholesome moments from it, to be the peak, it's hard to deny that it's the angst that truly acts as the catalyst for what makes it so rewarding to witness. It definitely should not be slept on when it comes to Kriselle.
>>82815820In my honest opinion, the popular fandom view for dessriel doesn't sit right with me. It all feels like the kind of relationship that toby will deconstruct heavily to show how it can't and will never work.
>>82815820the angst is a part of the healing
>>82815820>>82816180You know, a thought occurs to me.We find plenty of Asriels things in Dess's room(Sweater in the closet, retainer in the box), but we don't find ANYTHING of Dess's in his/Kris's room, not even a picture on the nightstand or a wallpaper on his computer.Maybe he just packed the stuff like that away after she disappeared, or maybe he took it with him to college, but it just feels really weird that the supposed "Golden Child" that cared about everyone wouldn't have anything comemerating their probable best friend. It makes me wonder if the whole "relationship" they supposedly had wasn't a one-sided affair on Dess's part, it wouldn't be hard to swipe a sweater if he had several of them(Which he's implied to have), and taking his retainer would explain why he got upset about it disappearing, because he literally didn't know Dess took it.
>>82817431Asriel has the CD, but generally I imagine if Dess gave Asriel anything it'd be something he wouldn't want Toriel to find, and probably took it to college.
>>82817499>Asriel has the CDIf you're talking about the Ska CD, that was in Dess's room, and it was still unopened in the plastic wrap.
>>82817594Actually, yeah. If Dess gave Asriel any music, he definitely wouldn't want Toriel to hear.
Noelle?
>>82817225Kris grabbing Noelle's arm and running out of her room was such strong imagery. He really wants to protect her.>>82817431You'd have to come up with an explanation as to why Noelle and Kris were close as kids if not for Asriel and Dess being friends. I guess you could just say the Holidays and Dreemurrs being friends already did that. But it would be pretty lame if Asriel ended up not caring for Dess as a friend in the end.
>>82815384>hoove fingers how does that work? They’re glorified nails.
>>82817431I mean the meta explanation is likely that Toby didn’t want to reveal shit too soon by having memorabilia of a mysterious deer girl on Asriel’s side of the room, meanwhile we get to see dess’ room in ch4 so it can be more overt. As for an in universe explanation it could just be Asriel brought anything dess gave him with him to college, fucker seems like the last person to “move on” just going off his undertale counterpart. I mean there’s also the crack theory that ralsei is a plush dess made for asriel
>>82813589

>>82818515I’ve heard them been described as “keratin fingers” in some doefics
>>82818515I always just assume the fur is colored to match the hooves rather than be actually keratin. They'd be basically unusable.
>>82819337>>82819887I always thought it was just the fingertips and not the whole finger, but a lot of artists do full finger now that I'm looking.

>Do you remember the first time you realized fiction had limits?>That there would always be an “end” to the story being told, the world you explore? That there really was nothing beyond that invisible wall, that the pointless empty room at the bottom of the map really was pointless and empty due to developmental time constraints rather than hiding some secret to end all secrets? Another layer of cynicism to add to the pile, a jab in the arm about the reality of fiction, how nothing can be explored to the extent you truly believed as a kid.>…But what if, right?>What is on the other side of the invisible wall leading to that vast, endless looking ocean? What was meant to be put in the empty room at the bottom of the map, devoid of purpose beyond a harmless enemy unneeded to complete the quest? What happens to the NPCs when you turn the game off? What happens if you find a way through the maze without the character needed to proceed normally? What happens when you l̷o̷o̸k̷ ̵t̴o̶o̴ ̶d̸e̴e̵p̵?>I was in the room when Elly found the door in Dragon Blazers, the one present nowhere else in the game, the thing at the end of the maze when you break your way through instead of doing the intended method. She was so scared. Of what? A door? I thought she was being stupid, forgetting that precious little Elly is scared of EVERYTHING of course. What the hell was frightening about a door?>She wasn’t actually scared, just startled. She wasn’t expecting it to be there, of course it’d make her jump a little, even if it was maybe an over-reaction. But>She should have been scared. Why didn't it haunt me then?>...It's the same vision, every time. Lights brighter than I can see, buildings towering so far into the sky I can see the tops. Cars whirring, people blurring by, sounds from beyond this time. What a staggering sight. In the dream I'm like I always am, lost, aimless, without direction and hopeless to find anything resembling a destination. Sprinting through crowded streets and through oncoming traffic with nary a regard to my being. What am I seeking? I can never tell you, because I don't even know myself.>...Somewhere else, maybe. Somewhere different. Away from the suffocation of Hometown. Then why does it scare me so much? I can't answer that either. It's just question and uncertainties, piled atop eachother like brick after brick laid on my chest, crushing my ribs and puncturing my lungs.>I miss my sister. I miss her so much. I lose her in my dreams, away, somewhere else. Why can't I be with her anymore?>Why am I so far away?
>>82826898Solstice anon drew a couple of comics about her creation but I can't remember the details (if there were any). You'll have to ask him next time he shows up.
If we were to humanize Gaster a bit and run with the theory that these aren't the first Delta warriors, one could extrapolate that Gaster could've first attempted to artificially fill the roles of the prophecy with his own creations before he jumped into straight up experimenting with the youth of Hometown. While we do not know yet his grand design, we do know he has some capacity to mold Souls if we account for the start of DR and the demo being referred to as a survey program. In the multiverse that Gaster is stuck inbetween, there very well could've been a timeline where Gaster tried to achieve whatever his "Deltarune" is where all the actors of the prophecy were his creations - like the goners/vessels.Solstice could've been a stand-in for Noelle; with every variable of her existence controlled by the nebulous doctor. The only thing that Noelle had that Solstice could never have as a being born of darkness is the power of Connection. She was never born into a family, and never had a big sister of her own to derive her own will and personality from.
