>>82877302it's an EXTREMELY silly game, very interesting so far though. And certainly very puzzly but I end to enjoy puzzle and strategy stuff a lot. It's a mod (that's technically an addon for another big one) that was first teased in like 2022, the big selling point is being able to create and interact with physics-based contraptions to build things like cars or planes. It's kind of insane how performant it is given minecraft has no built in support for anything physics-based. In terms of minecraft itself I'd say it's very different from automation games since it's much more focused on messing around in a sandbox, I find vanilla pretty boring but it can be pretty engaging with good mod choices. Anyways, here's an old teaser for the mod showing a car!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNhefzZe0IY

The second one you mentioned, Dog day afternoon does look interesting from the few screenshots I've quickly looked up.>>82877708To each their own. I do enjoy Civ IV if that counts as strategy, but puzzles are certainly not something I go out of my way for.And yeah, I think I have seen videos of this mod. Someone had managed to make automated ICBMs using this, very interesting mod to incorporate physics, didn't think I'd ever see the day.More recently I think I've seen some jap minecraft videos making mods of AC combat into minecraft. How they go about this, I'll never understand, but it's nice to watch from time to time in a short yt video or on xitter.

Did you know that Aztec cosmology has no self-sustaining nature? Most religions have a God that wills existence into being and then sustains it through continued will. Aztec cosmology is different because the gods themselves are not self-sufficient, for them creation was an act performed by finite beings using finite resources, the sun and moon for example, are created by gods that had to bleed and die to create them and move them. This is how it translates back to human sacrifices, because it implies that the actual anomaly is the existence of anything at all. In other words, chaos/nothingness is the natural state of things in the universe, while order is carved out of that nothing at an enormous cost. So when human sacrifice was performed, it was from a theological perspective done to sustain that order inherited from the gods, or risk the world into returning to the original state of darkness and chaos that was supposed to be.

>>82886663Well that's even trickier because that implies the age of sail never fully developed to the scale in which allowed colonization to bloom, I think pre colonization Africa had a close answer to this, empires and coalition of sedentary societies structured by clans, eventually strongarmed by the Aztecs or Mayans depending on who you like the most.>>82886795Everyone here is anonymous so just like how I can think about the most wonderful person in the world can lie in wait for me to discover them, so too, I can think that many terrible people can lurk in wait. If you're already doing that, I think you can certainly make a slight effort in getting a textbook to help with some of the technical part of the language and you're well on your way.

I didn't finish any games and instead started another gacha....At least I did my assignment... in 3x the time I predicted but still!I have to at least blog about something, sooo... I remembered a very cute rpgmaker game I played when I was young called LiEat, and turns out the devs of it made a new game! And thus my backlog increases... Have a track from the series...https://youtu.be/DgtLNQrDoJ4?It seems it was translated by someone who was a whole slew of games with cute pixel art, when my semester is over i' binging it..! Some of these I've watched let's plays of, so I'm debating playing them when I already know the plot...Ah, I suddenly remember mario and the music box too, I don't like playing horror rpg makets myself because I'm easily scared, but some let's plays I wanted to watch got removed! >>82902108I have recently finished Half a King, and now I am reading Half the World, from the shattered sea trilogy. I have also read a page related to psychology but I wasn't paying much attention to it, what type of books would you like reading?
>>82902202I think the last novel I read was Hatchet, a very short read. This must have been a few years ago, Don't really read too often; if I were to read, I'd probably enjoy fantasy more than that survivalist-like book. What is this sea trilogy about?
>>82902202that series is by joe abercrombie right? I read his first law series last year it was very good
>>82902433Why don't you read some fantasy books then? Or why don't you have enough time? What's keeping you busy? Its about a prince turned king who gets betrayed by his uncle and gets sold to slavery, through the jounery he grows and adapts to be the type of person who would enact his vengeance on his uncle.>>82902450I've heard about his other works too but I haven't checked them out, what did you like about his first law series?
>>82902581Honestly a very good question. Nothing is keeping me busy per say. I just find myself doing things other than reading. Recalling a very old childrens series I enjoyed in elementary school called deltora quest.Maybe I just need to look up what a good series is.The one you described sounds interesting in of itself.
>>82902581I honestly loved it. Got recommended it by a friend and read all 9 books last year. The series is definitely in the grimdark genre so lots of antiheros, dark themes but the character work he does is amazing. You can flip to any page and instantly tell which pov you are on by just reading a few sentences because the characters are well defined. The chI did the audio books for it and it was super high quality. The one caveat i will give is that the first book is super slow in terms of plot progression, i dont think its really a flaw but you feel it with the pacing a little
>>82902696What do you do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies in particular? I can reccomend you the book i'm reading, it isn't specifically fantasy but the elements that build the world came from a time where magic was somewhat real but now its the era of man. Why do you like the fantasy genre in general?>>82902729Which characters did you liked? Half a King can be dark, but I don't know how dark is grimdark, you have read the whole saga? Which book is your favorite?
>>82902857A lot of half assed hobbies I guess... I draw, but only maybe once a week, even got a new tablet. I've been playing with 3DCG for a couple years now, but not enough to really improve. I cook, to a well enough degree I'd be happy to serve people. I guess that would be my bigger hobby and not quite half assed.Among other things, gaming, learning nip. Perhaps I'm spreading myself too thin...That still sounds like an enjoyable setting. It's not like there needs to be magical elements in a fantastical setting. It just doesn't have to be reality. If that makes sense. As for why? Not particularly sure. Maybe it's just fascination with the medieval era and that a good portion of fantasy seem to have adjacent settings to it.That took a few minutes to really ponder.
>>82902857the main three of the first trilogy are the best. Logen (berzerker), Glockta (torturer), and Jezal(nobelman). The setting is low fantasy, there is magic but its rareTheres two trilogies with three standalone in between them. I finished all 9 books last year, liked all of them at least loved some. I think the first trilogy is my favorite. The second trilogy is most dark and depressing, but still great books, different main cast.
>>82903158What would you like creating in 3DCG? Why do you not spend more time drawing? Do you have fun with all your hobbies? I have been reading about the medieval era too, but on a more analytical form, I like reading about societies. From what you have told me I can reccomend you the book, the most realistic aspect of the book are the ambitions of the characters and their actions.>>82903219What do you like about them? Do you sympathize with a literal torturer? HihiThat must be a long read, do you like depressive stories, or is there something else that caught your attention?
>>82903434I first get into it as someone showed me how to extract 3d models from unity based games, then wanted to animate using said models. But the model's rigs were "broken" kinda, hard to explain but they weren't easily usable out the gate. I'd need to learn this and that to get to that point eventually. Which I'd like to, just going a lot slower. May also take a look into sculpting on the side.As for drawing, I only really draw in drawpiles, as drawing with others is a motivating factor, and sets a time limit, so I don't procrastinate forever, like a couple of those 3DCG projects I have ongoing. I'm open to hearing a recommendation; you're more than welcome to share.
From the never ending mountains blackTo the bottomless lakesI am the ruler and has been for eternities long My wizards are many, but their essence is mineForever they are in the hills in their stone homes of grief Because I am the spirit of their existenceI am them
>>82903639Why don't you spend more time in 3DCG communities to learn together? Why do you procrastinate? Do you have fun spending time in your hobby? Wait but you said you half assed your hobbies but you spend time in drawpiles, don't you think you are underselling your talent by confusing a hobby with a lifestyle? My book reccomendation was Half a King, the other anon also liked the first law trilogy and since its low fantasy you might like it too.
>>82903434basically all of the protagonists of the first trilogy are anti-heros. Im sure you noticed but abercrombie is a master with writing characters. The dialogue, banter, character writing is the best part of his books. Each character has a distinct voice. The action in the books is really good too. Also abercrombie is definitely a subversive writer, he spins lots of genre tropes on their head.I wont spoil too much, but what makes to torturer character compelling to me is hes good at his job. He is very witty, being inside his head hearing his observations about things is very enjoyable. Also he has tortured himself before the events of the books so you do pity him a little bit. I would say the only depressing book is the 9th book. I literally had to stop reading at parts due to how depressing it was, but its still a good book. The books average like 500 pages per book. Doing audio books help me keep a good pace. I would say that the first book has the worst pacing but its still a great book. 100% recommend
>>82903987What catched my attention to me was the way its so easy to read his book, each page was direct and easy to comprehend what was happening and how the consequences affected the characters. If the characters are so good then you must like all characters? Or do you have a specific character you dislike? Have you found any other books that matched your interest? Or do you think its hard to replicate what you have experienced with his works? I haven't finished his Shattered Sea trilogy yet, so I must finish it before deciding how good it is still!
>>82903925Yeah.. I do know of a community that would likely welcome me, though they primarily work on N64 projects.I think I'm not exactly following the point with your question, but thinking about it more deeply is making me upset at myself for some reason, no fault of your own of course. The book is relatively cheap, I'll take a look into ordering the first one tomorrow. Maybe I'll go prepare some dough or something to get my mind off things. Maybe I'll be back later.>>82903987Although not the same book he recommended, I'll take this word on character writing will likely be similar. It's good to know two people can recommend this author.
How do I stop being racist and bitter?
>>82904249>I think I'm not exactly following the point with your questionIf you start your hobby and you observe the people who who eat, sleep, and breathe said hobby, then once a week will always feel like amateur effort by comparison, even if once a week is plenty. I think a hobby is something that fits in your life rather than making other things in your life fit in it. Take your time with your dough!>>82904287Why are you racist and bitter?
>>82904217I would say the whole series has only one bad POV character. Her name is Ferro and she shows up half way through the first book. She is just very obnoxious, thats all ill say. All others POV range from serviceable to amazing.I started reading this series as a recommendation from a friend after finishing the game of thrones books (ASOIAF). I honestly havent read much fantasy other than that. I wouldnt mind adding you if you wanna talk more about books and stuff im still trying to get into literature more.
>>82904464That reminds me that I must read the books from the game of thrones too, but isn't it still incomplete? I could add you and we could talk, but do you have a problem if we talk on a weekly basis? I often have nothing to say daily since I end up tired when I can finally sit down and chat, but I could manage with treating it as a casual friendship!
>>82904608would love having a bookclub fren (we can talk about other stuff too)my tag is slink321
>>82886795I've met a nice friend from these threads. I don't post usually though because it does just feel like a few people posting the same sort of stuff everytime. Would be nice to
find a bf
>>82905019I will make a friend here, eventually I hope. Also would be nice to have someone to be a bit closer to in that aspect...
>>82905384Well, what exactly do you want out of a friend? or out of a lover? Tell me a little bit about yourself and I could drop a tag. >>82905088You as well, anon.
I deleted all the lewd anime on my computer and phone.
>>82905801I suppose just someone to talk to more frequently than I do my usual friends, and if it were to head that way, good, if not, it's still a friend to speak to.Unfortunately the previous person, who introduced me to this.. sort of thing up and left. So not really sure what the hell I'm doing right now. I guess just someone with similar interests.
