Everything Noelle does in this chapter feels like the built-up result of five chapters of trying to get serious with Susie, except Susie has always been braindead ignorant or perfectly complicit with you making decisions to upset the fact right in front of her, like the broom closet scene at the start of Chapter 2 or Chapter 4's ditch-and-dine. See I think it would be extremely possible for them to go on the adventure in the Dark World FIRST and Noelle having the time of her life hanging out with Susie, only for them to get out and realize Rudy is either in hyper crtical condition or is dead. Leading into Chapter 7 where Noelle needs to be consoled, Kris is doing freak portal shit and Gaster comes out with his big cock and promises a new world. New timelines where Dess never disappeared, Rudy never died, Papyrus actually didn't hang himself in his room and Asriel came back from college early and that was what Kris was working for this whole time. A way to spin back the clock to make everything perfect, to make everything right, they don't want to move for they want to go back to the past. But to do that he needs to get everyone they care about trapped in the dark world, it's the only way for their essence to be transfered over to the new alternate reality, One where monsters are all underground and humans rule on the surface.

For her Kris and Noelle are very much the same: Both are the only people who have ever tried to be nice to her; with Kris his mostly somewhat like her and seemingly mostly simple, with Noelle though it becomes weird and unclear. Originally she was the first nice one but she also never engaged with Susie after leading her to mostly just lock the moment in her mind to not bully Noelle over that once nice moment but since Ch 2 Noelle spoke far more about what things were leading to more confusion in the little Susie understood and knew about other people leading her to do something she never felt she had to with Kris and tread a weird line of trying to dig into Noelle for more blunt honesty since she's always clearly lying or hiding something but now she's actually feeling attached to Noelle and Unlike Kris she can't view Noelle as self sufficient enough on her own.

For as much as things seem a certain way, /sus/ always kept reading these moments as a non one sided Romance on more than just Noelle's side when the truth is that for as much as it always seemed like Kruis it really was just snoot on the head. Something just like Mae and Bea where it's great in perspective but at the same time horrendously not canon due to in universe comments.
