The biggest reason I hate Rosegarden is because it just doesn't fit. Look at Ruby Rose, look at the character design, her flair, and everything about her...now look at Oscar. You're seriously telling me that left ends up with right? Here's the facts about Oscar. He is the character that entirely represents the lame ass direction they went with post Monty. He isn't a character Monty came up with. We had an established cast, with Ruby established with characters for three seasons, and her relationship established with Jaune, and then Oscar get's shoehorned into the show and into her plot after the fact. There is a narrative redudancy because Oscar Occupies the role Jaune already did the the under dog every man and Ruby's main mirror and foil. Rosegarden's blueprint doesn't work for the RWBY as a show because there was another blueprint already there with how the cast and relationships were established. Even ignoring anything Romantic, Jaune is supposed to be Ruby's closest male friend and her first friend at Beacon. The writers got scared of people's reaction to Jaune so they tank swapped him for Oscar, and because of what Oscar is the audience they cultivated like Oscar better but it's nothing to do with WHO Oscar is because he's nothing. Shipping him with Ruby, Monty's brainchild, is them asserting narrative authority over the character and series. Oscar is there character. Oscar's design language and character is Completely antithetical to Monty RWBY. Before it was colorful, characters had personality, flair, exaggeration, and do cool shit. Oscar is muted, lame, meek, and doesn't look like he even fits in with the cast. He's an unfrosted mini-wheat. He's a writers pet and they literally have every character dote on him and love him because of some weird emotional investment from Miles in this ship.

Introduce your main characters love interest in season 5 and smoosh them together and sideline established relationships and characters for this? That's good writing? But people in this fanbase will justify any terrible writing as long as the outcome validates their feelings. And once again, beyond Romance, shoving Oscar so close to Ruby diminishes and takes away from her friendships with Jaune and Weiss. Jaune, Weiss, and Yang should be the closest people to Ruby, not Oscar. Oscar should be 4th place at best. But instead Oscar and Ruby are the "pair" as miles puts it instead of Weiss and Ruby or Jaune and Ruby. The cast we like is sidelined for this character who just sucks in comparison. Ruby is diminished as a character for it as well. It's all for Oscars benefit, and the ship isn't even that popular if we go by fanfiction numbers at least (We don't really have true metrics). Ruby as a character design and character is wasted here.
