Going to Japan in October.Want to potentially stay for longer than the 90 days of the tourist visa allows, but don’t know the best way to go about it. You can’t change a tourist visa to any other visa type while you’re in Japan as far as I know. Money isn’t a concern.Student visa would require me to be at a language school 20 hours a week, which I’m not entirely opposed to, but really don’t want to be locked down to one area. I’ve read of people getting work visas and then quitting their job once they get to Japan. The visa remains attached to the person, not the company, and (apparently) as long as you prove to immigration every 3 months that you are actively looking for a new job (if they even contact you), you’re good to go.From US so working holiday visa isn’t an option.I’ve been researching this incessantly online and would appreciate any input or advice.
>>2643303Where did you get that info from? Because chatgpt says it's totally fine to have a tourist visa
Also I came from a Eastern euro shithole and they automatically gave me "temporary visitor" status as soon as I arrived at the airport. I didn't need a visa to enter
>>2643303apply to a language school that offers job-seeking assistance
>>2643326We don’t have access to the temporary visitor visa in US. All the info I can find online says it is basically impossible to switch from a tourist visa to any other type without leaving the country first.
After 90 days go visit another country then come back for another 90.Doing this right now and the change of scenery's good. I love it and speak a decent jap but the autism and grey cities can be a bit depressing even if I spend most of the time in villages and islands.
You can extend the 3 months to 6 months if you ask. 6 is the absolute max though, then you have to leave for 6 before you can come back again.
>>2643303after the 90 days fly to korea and then come back
>>2643303>Money isn't a concernThere is a very straightforward system for exactly this situation, if you can park 30m JPY ($200k) in a Japanese bank account for the duration you can stay for 6 months, extendable to a year.https://www.mofa.go.jp/ca/fna/page22e_000738.html
>>2643303you could get a "cultural studies" visa to go learn karate or tea ceremony or something. that's probably way less than 20 hours a week. might be better to actually learn japanese tho.
>>2643303Go for 90 days, fly to s korea for a bit then go back to japan for another 90 days.It all entirely depends just how long you want to stay. You won't need to ever apply for tourist visa if your from the US.
Australian here I am multi-skilled with a construction related degree and I am also a Carpenter by trade.Which countries have the most dire skill shortage for construction related jobs? What are there any recruitment companies which specialise in hiring foreigners and taking them though the visa process? a lot of countries have skill shortages but still require you to have a job offer before going.finding a job is the hard part.
>>2643560Can I just stay in Korea for a day? How long do I have to wait before coming back?
>>2643303Get a double-entry visayou could try the old trick of hopping over the pond to South Korea for a few days when you near the 90 days and returniong to Japan for another 90 days after that, but I don't know if that's possible anymore
>>2643303>Money isn’t a concern.fly to Busan for the weekend after 10 weeks and then fly back to Japan, getting a new visa.
>>2643778You have to stay in Korea for exactly two days. No more no less. If you don't it will insult the Japanese because you broke tenshuido rule and they will force you to commit seppuku before beheading you.It sucks but that's the way it is.
