I am doing the Way of St James from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Santiago in July.

Anyone done this before?

Sorted my gear (I think) and fairly used to hiking in Scotland.

You fucked up twice. Go from the middle of April (albergues open after the public holiday on the 1st) or go when the peak season is ending in October. The rain isn't even that bad until you get to Galicia anyway.
