>stay
I stayed at Sahara last year. I actually like the location because the monorail is easy to get to from inside the casino to go to the busier parts of the strip but it's also closer to Fremont Street if you want to do that. And if you have a car for driving yourself anywhere else the parking garage is free and on a pretty normal street corner compared to the southern end of the strip. It's a small and run of the mill feeling hotel so if you're still in the phase of trying to impress someone just go to Cosmo and pay up.
>food
Peppermill is worth a visit. I liked Battista's too.
>shows
Wayne Newton unironically. He is going to die eventually so just do it before it's too late. It's a surprisingly long act.
>gambling
I won $10 on slots at Sahara waiting for a table.
>pools
You'll be so drunk off the minimum tab it doesn't matter.
>bars
There's a Back to the Future/generic 80s nostalgia bar and grill I thought was pretty funny.
>>
>favorite spots to stay?
Anywhere center or north strip. NY NY is as far south as I'll go
>favorite food?
Lavo and Piero's cuz i love italian. There's a dumpling place at Aria called Thai Da Fong or something like that which is amazing, try that if you like Asian food.
>favorite shows?
Absinthe is the best. All the Cirque shows are worth a watch. Magic shows are underwhelming and cheesy. Carrot Top was surprisingly funny.
>best gambling?
Avoid casino gambling. Play poker or bet on sports if you really need to gamble. Every game in the casino exists to take your money. Sports and poker you have a chance. If you HAVE to gamble get a player's card so you can at least get some free meals when you inevitably lose a grand.
>best pools?
Circa stadium
>best bars?
Anywhere with video poker in the bar for free drinks. Sometimes you even win money to get free drinks. Casino bars in general are a blast. My favorite part of going to Vegas is bullshitting with randoms at casino bars. Everyone has a story when they're drunk in Vegas.

I'm heading to Vegas this weekend with some D&D friends. (They're playing in the World Series of Board Games)
We're all staying at the Horseshoe since that's where the event is being held.
We have plans for Omega Mart and Korean BBQ on Saturday night. A breakfast buffet on Sunday morning (not sure where just yet) and probably a trip up to Fremont Street on Sunday for Heart Attack Grill and the sights up there.
>>
>>2713855
>favorite food
it's off the strip but Eggworks makes a delicious+huge huevos rancheros, really great breakfast place
>>
>>2714219
I've been there once and agree. Real good breakfast spot not terribly far from the south end of the strip. Probably a 10 minute uber
>>
>>2714163
Skip the breakfast buffet and do Hash House, there are a few locations in Vegas. It's amazing and the portions are gigantic
>>
>>2714250
I'll make breakfast at Hash House an option. I'm not the one who wants to do the buffet though. One of the other guys wants it, so I'm down to just go with the flow.

Alright bros I've always been Team M Life but my chick and I watched UFC Noche and now we wanna stay at a property where we can have a room with a view of the Sphere. Wynn/Encore or Venetian/Pallazzo are the best options right? Thoughts on these properties? We're a laid back couple in our late 30s. Last time we did Delano and really liked Club Moorea to give you an idea of our vibe.

Gambling advice from a degenerate who goes to Vegas several times a year
>always sign up for a players card and use it every time you gamble. points accumulate faster than you might think
>don’t be afraid to reach out to the casino host and introduce yourself. If you’re a low roller you can still get hooked up sometimes. if you’re betting thousands per trip the host will be a huge asset for you as far as free rooms, free meals, discount tickets, premium seating in exclusive places, shit like that.
>Play where you want to stay in the future. if you want discount room offers from aria, do all your gambling at aria
>set a daily loss limit and do not go beyond it whether it’s $50 or $5000. quickest way to fuck up a fun trip is to blow your whole budget in 12 hours then have 2 days left with no spending cash. Trust me, I’ve done it.
>if you want good odds, you have to bet high minimums or get off the strip. choose between $50 mins at MGM/Caesars properties for 3:2 blackjack pay, or go downtown or off strip and play $15 mins with 3:2 BJ
>avoid slot machines. if you must play slots, play denominations higher than a penny. Penny slots are the biggest moneymaker in vegas. You get better return % on higher denominations like $0.25 and $1
>the best bang for your buck in the gambling world is poker. Play $1/$2 hold em and you can usually play for several hours on $200 buy in
More of a personal preference:
>don’t gamble more than 2 hours at a time. The easiest way to get wrecked is to continually play. There’s nothing wrong with playing roulette for 5 spins and quitting when you win
>if you play craps and bet the pass line, always leave on a win. Doesn’t have to be the first point win but don’t be the guy who keeps pressing his bets and loses everything he won on a long roll. Seen that happen a hundred times
>just pay for a beer instead of losing $50 on video poker to get a “free” drink
>>
>>2714352

hey retard, your "gambling advice" is just instructions on how to waste money. fuck you
>>
>>2714361
The Vegas schizo has arrived. Welcome back!
>>
>>2714361
>set a loss limit
>don’t play too long
>get better odds
>leave on a win
>get the most value for your play
Yeah fuck guess I’m trying to make everyone lose money

>Absinthe is the best.
Seconding this, went years ago and it was fantastic, great mix of humor and stunts
>>
>>2714515

there’s so much to do in vegas you should consider not gambling at all. theres world class restaurants, world class people watching, world class nightclubs, roller coasters, amazing shows, tons of museums, floral gardens, beautiful nature 1-2 hours away, infinite cool bars with great drinks, and more. why waste your time handing money away in a smoke filled casino? you’ll remember everything else, you won’t remember the hour long roulette session where you lost 15 of 20 spins
>>
>>2714540
It's fun to walk through some of the higher end casinos for a night but yeah last year I filled every day just museum hopping, I never would have imagined that's something Vegas would get into. Even if that's not your usual thing, Neon Museum at night is a can't miss. Add a tour and the Brilliant Jackpot show too, they do good work there. And if it is your thing the Mob Museum is another good one. You could go there in the morning, get a late lunch on Fremont, head over to Neon, and then back to Fremont for a bar or something and have a really nice day.
Going back next month and I was able to get a good enough price on a rental car so I'm planning to see some of the desert features on the outskirts.
Unfortunately all this is why you can't get a steak for $2 anymore, they know they aren't going to make up the difference through gambling with the younger crowd so everything's got to cost full price now.
>>
>>2714352
>There’s nothing wrong with playing roulette for 5 spins and quitting when you win
This, first time I went to Vegas I spent $20 on Roulette (figured black/red would be the best odds possible) and came out with a $10 profit, called it a day
>>
>>2714543
>Mob Museum
Yeah that's a good one
>>
>>2714341
I believe Venetian has sphere view rooms but could be wrong. Upper floors of the Wynn and encore should be able to see it clearly.
>>
I really like staying at Mandalay Bay or the Delano. Their casino is always clean and not that busy, the pools are great and the rooms are very solid. It’s maybe an hour walk to get to center strip if you want, but I like the quieter vibe. For Fremont St., I like the D, I always seem to do well there and it’s a little less grungy than some of the other casinos there. I like Bar Canada there. I’m mostly a video poker player with some slots when I feel like it. That’s my favorite thing to do in Vegas, set up at a bar, smoke and drink comped drinks while playing VP and people watching. So relaxing.
>>
>>2714556
The D has good progressive VP at the bars. The bonus poker game is nearly full pay with a progressive for 4OAK, straight flush and royal. A couple years ago I saw a guy hit a $2050 royal on a $1.25 bet
>>
>>2714575
But the drink service is great there so I always get fuckin hammered playing VP and inevitably up my denom from quarters to dollars then get rinsed for $300 or more

I read online that the neighborhood around the Sahara can be "scary" at night. What are your observations?

>>2714556
I haven't stayed at the Mandalay Bay or Delano, but the Mandalay Bay is friggin' awesome. +1 for cleanliness, the carpet is sexy, it feels spacious as fuck, love the vibe. It's classy, but I don't sense anyone is trying to mog me like in a center strip casino. Apparently there's a topless beach club too, "Moorea." The Delano lobby is beautiful, I must be a sucker for gold.

It disappoints me how dead the south end is. I know Vegas goes through cycles and trends, like how the Rio and Palms used to be busy, but I have a hard time envisioning the south end being hip again. Maybe when the Dream casino opens. Fountain Bleu already seems like a flop on the north end. I don't think the A's ballpark will be positive, because I don't want to be surrounded by more sports fans.

>favorite spots to stay?
Ellis Island. Family owned, fuck the corporations.
>favorite food?
Sakana Sushi, but I eat carnivore now so I'm looking for a place I can fall in love with. Westgate's buffet has a melt-in-your-mouth beef brisket.
>favorite shows?
Never been, but I'm interested in Carrot Top and the Michael Jackson one.
>best gambling?
I don't gamble anymore.
>best pools?
Never been, but Park MGM's looks nice as well as Mandalay Bay's.
>>
>>2714705
There's an armed guard at the Walgreens across the street from Sahara. I wouldn't walk beyond that storefront at night unless you wanted to do it as a prank or something, but there's nothing touristy up there anyways besides the Straosphere. The actually bad neighborhood where you'll absolutely catch AIDS and die is still a couple blocks farther north, behind the Stratosphere, where you'd never have a reason to be anyways unless you want drugs or AIDS. With Fontainebleau open now you should be fine to walk south.
>>
>>2714715
So walking from Sahara or the Strat to Fremont St. would be suicide, it seems like. Clueless tourists must do it all the time though.
>>
>>2714705
I got an HJ from a 8/10 Canadian chick in the Trop one time. RIP to a real one.
>>
>>2714733
The area between strat and Fremont used to be some of the worst blocks in Vegas. That area has improved a lot but it’s still not great. Lots of junkies and hookers
>>
>>2714733
It's more drug addicts that might think you're a space buffalo and lunge at you than dastardly villains creeping in the shadows. There are a handful of hostels and motels there so it's not a complete black hole.
>>
>>2714733
It’s not that bad. If you’re a single guy you probably won’t get hassled. You’ll see some passed out fent zombies but you totally can walk from Fremont to the strip even late at night and be perfectly fine.
>>
>>2714733
Just take an uber man it’s like $12 from Sahara to Fremont
>>
>>2714874
Hell you could even take the Deuce from in front of Walgreens. If you survive the wait the bus ride is nothing, just more tourist types.
>>
>>2714882
The bus to Freemont st from the strip is awful. I swear, it stops every 75 feet along the way and is full of meth heads.
>>
>>2714948
The time I rode it in the morning was fine. At night it was more the black casino workers trying to go home who were angry that it hadn't come in an hour gearing up for a chimpening.
>>
>>2714950
I only rode it once too and from and that was in 2009 when Vegas was fighting tooth and nail to keep Uber out of town. I remember it taking so long I almost pissed my pants on the ride back and my drunk buddy getting into it with some meth head for talking shit because he didn't want to buy a cd from her.

Honestly, I'd just Uber down there now.
>>
>>2714952
That was just last year for me. I also took one of the other ones from the airport since it drops off right behind the Sahara. Not saying nothing ever happens on them, it's probably smarter to avoid the potential problem entirely.
>>
>>2714954
Caesars used to have an old folks home looking shuttle that would take you to and from the airport for like $7 so you could skip the cabstand all together.

I've gotten to where I either walk or Uber in Vegas. I can't stand the cabbies anymore, bunch of entitled foreigners with sticks up their asses. At least Uber somewhat forces the drivers to be nice.

Funny story, I had an European Uber driver pick us up last trip. He took us through a seedy part of town because I think we were going to Area 15. We passed some tranny street walkers... that dude went on a rant about trannies that would make this place blush. I was dying while everyone else was shocked in our rides hare. Lucky for him I was the one who ordered the ride.
>>
>>2714958
All the shuttles are gone for coof. You have to be a gigawhale to get a free ride now. I haven't taken a medallion taxi in any city in close to 10 years and figured the neighborhood busses were definitely a bad idea so Uber it is for anywhere off the path. They all drive Teslas so it's a nice ride at least. I had a retired engineer from Norway who just does it for fun, maybe it's the same guy. No obvious trannies sighted near the Atomic Testing Museum. Maybe they think the radiation closes the holes up. I was surprised that most of my drivers were white, with one chinaman. You'd think there it would be even more heavily Mexican than everywhere else in America.
>>
>>2714959
I found most of my Uber drivers to be European immigrants, rich-ish Arabs and Asians (had an arab guy pick us up in a brand new escalade and an asian guy pick us up in a nice benz once) my last couple trips. The cab drivers are all pissed off north Africans, bulb heads and Jews in my experience. Very unfriendly!

The Mexicans all work in casino house keeping or fry cooks in the fast food restaurants in the casinos.

>did an overnight at Vegas because we had 2 spare days in a California Holiday

It wasn't terrible? It's on a bit of a death spiral I guess, probably due to its location being terrible (if they extended the monorail to it, it would probably do wonders) but it's absolutely fine. Room was huge, comfy, had good AC that wasn't loud and most importantly the doors had soft close mechanisms so you weren't woken up constantly by cunts slamming the heavy doors to their rooms like I've had at other 'nicer' hotels.

Fuck them for making the buffets weekend only and the 'view' from my room was comically terrible.

Heart Attack Grill has delicious burgers and fries, I assume their food is cooked in lard. Their jalapenos poppers are gross and they discontinued their milkshakes sadly. They only accept cash FYI.

>>2715142
Yelp reviews claim that Circus Circus has a bedbug problem, but otherwise the place seems like a decent bang for your buck. I heard bad reviews for their buffet.

Has anyone visited Las Vegas on Christmas? Apparently it's one of the most busy times of the year. I imagine there must be hoards of Asian tourists? I'm curious to know if most restaurants and activities stay open.
>>
>>2715211
Most hotels had some sort of outbreak in the last few years (seems the epidemic is under control now? Not talked about much now) so it's always hard to judge on that.

>>2715211
Visited Vegas early Dec year before last so can only talk general Christmas period. Disappointingly un-Christmassy in most hotels, aside from the Bellagio which had a really stunning Christmas display that almost made up for the complete lack of effort everywhere else. Went before the crowds were getting really heavy so things were just starting to gear up. Weather was a bit annoying, full on Desert climate of hot in the day with a blazing sun but cold the second the sun goes down
>>
Is it true that you can check your bag in at a hotel on the strip even if you're not staying there? I have a whole afternoon between check out and departure and i'd rather not have to lug a bag around.
>>
>>2715220
Most resort hotels in general have this. It's a pretty common requirement for people travelling without a a car. They also don't want someone who has a lot of spare time to write a review waiting for their plane to leave on a sour note.

It'll probably be 'free' (tips are expected).
>>
>>2715218
People don’t go to Vegas for Christmas.
I’ve been there Christmas week and there are tons of Asians (Chinks and Indians] - and Asians don’t care about a Western European winter pagan festival.
>>
>>2715220
They all have bellhop desks. They just give you a ticket and tie a matching one around your bag and take it away. They'll offer to bring it up to your room of course but you can always just present your ticket at the desk again and they'll bring it out to you. It's free with tip of course but $5 ought to do it.

Thanks, I wanted to catch a show at the sphere before heading to the airport but it didn't seem like they had any luggage storage option there.
>>
>>2715248
They probably don't since they figure the Venetian is right there. The only attraction I've seen accept luggage is the Punk Rock Museum.
>>
>>2715220
Just go to the bellhop where you're staying and say you checked out and want to store your bag there for a few hours before you head to the airport. This is a normal hotel service, there's no need to lie or do anything unless are you staying at some shitty motel or airbnb?

>Apparently there's a topless beach club too, "Moorea."
My chick and I went in 2022 when we stayed at Delano. There are two pools, one was cold as fuck and the other one is really a huge hot tub. The music isnt super loud and they play a mix of stuff. It's not a day club atmosphere. The crowd is mostly mid 30's to 50's. Definitely mostly couples and there literally might even be a no singles policy.
I agree with everything you said about Mandalay Bay. I would stay at Delano again in a heartbeat.
>>

My gf goes topless but does not go nude unless no one else is around. Is Delano/Mandalay Bay (and Moorea) any good? I have comps at lower end MGM properties but we've only stayed at the higher end ones that are also flagged as Marriotts now (Luxury Collection, Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio). And yes we've been to the real Tahiti/Moorea instead of the Tahiti-themed timeshare in Las Vegas

That's awesome. My Fremont St. experiences have been underwhelming, but I refuse to give up on it. I rarely see young attractive women there, and there's usually a lot of thuggish-looking people and always lots of belligerent homeless people. I get turned away from the bars and clubs for my casual style often, even though I'm sober and the black people with baller attire get in.

One time by the big stage near the Circa Resort, I saw a fat, older homeless man laying at the base of the stage with his dick out masturbating toward the crowd (it was late and no one was performing). The police were trying to convince him to move, but he had the most depressed look on his face I had ever seen on a human being. His eyes looked glassed over...it was honestly horrifying to see someone like that who had devolved into an animal. That's my most memorable Fremont St. experience.
>>
>>2715672
>I get turned away for my casual attire
On Fremont? No chance. Maybe at some exclusive night club at Cosmo or Aria

There are definitely a lot of gross people on Fremont. My advice is to get out of there before midnight. Party starts around 7pm there. I noticed the clientele got significantly more “hood” after midnight last time I was there. Around 2am I was one of very few white people walking around and it was odd cuz I live in an extremely white town in New England
>>
>>2715674
To be fair, I used to wear huarache running sandals like the Mexican Tarahumara tribe, so I was asking for it some nights. But I'm intrigued by your early start time suggestion. Going early is a good rule for partying in general. The sloppy folks always show up after their extended pregames. 7pm is like the calm before the storm on the Las Vegas strip.
>>
>>2715688
I was out on Fremont drinking and watching the live bands until about 9-930, then ducked inside Golden Nugget to play poker for a few hours. Had a decent run and time got away with me. Left the poker room around 2am, Fremont was a different world that late at night
>>
Best pizza in Vegas? GF and I have a tradition where we always try a highly rated pizza spot anywhere we go
>>
>>2715708
Can’t say it’s the best and I was pretty drunk so anything would taste good but I really liked Evel Knivel Pizza, a little hole in the wall in the Fremont area, and exactly the vibe I was looking for.

See both but also Fremont >> The Strip all day, every day. More old school and proper Vegas. The El Cortez for instance had a dirty and frat house vibe that I enjoyed compared to the more corporate Strip casinos.

Fremont also had those random street performances that good or bad, you’ll want to see for the show off it. Also some high class stuff to. Circa is the best place for sports betting degenerates like me to go, biggest screen, girls shaking their butts on tables and just an overall great time.

Mob museum also in Fremont is fantastic not only for exhibits but for the Speakeasy in the basement where you can get a proper mixed drink.

Don’t be afraid to cheap out on a hotel because you likely won’t spend much time there. We stayed at Excalibur and despite it’s reputation for being the worst place in the strip, the place was more than adequate and as I am cheap, they even had $10 minimum blackjack tables.
>>

There's a few hot ones but most of them are busted and look like ex strippers or cam whores. I had once come up and slap handcuffs on me and wouldn't take them off until I paid her. I had $3 in wadded up ones in my pocket and that got her off my back.

Imagine if sone furry faggot was walking around sexually assaulting women on the strip. That shit would get shut down with an iron fist.

My brother had one get in his face and they got into a yelling match in front of Ballys back in the day because her called him a cracker.

I've seen them get pretty aggressive with other people too. One tried to lay into me because I told him I don't own a cd player which is true, I seriously don't.

>favorite spots to stay
for higher end, aria, cosmo, wynn/encore. for mid tier, planet hollywood and new york new york. for cheap stay, downtown grand.
>best food
hundreds of options. pick your preferred type of food and there are many great spots in vegas
>shows
never been to a show
>best gambling
caesars IMO. i usually take around 3k to gamble and love caesars. my poor friends don't like to gamble there due to higher mins
>best pools
never been to a fancy dayclub type pool. every casino hotel has a pool
>bars
same as food, there are a thousand bars in vegas. figure out what kind of atmosphere you want and pick from many good options. can't go wrong
>>
>>2715910
missing out, fremont is a blast
just don't expect it to be like the strip and you'll have fun
>>
>favorite spot to stay
Was Mirage (rip) but I enjoyed TI and Paris as well. Planet Hollywood isn't bad for the price point but the casino is awful.

>favorite food
Superfrico was a neat experience but I usually don't go to Vegas for food.

>favorite shows
Mystere was rad, I also enjoyed Zumanity when it was open. I like all Cirque shows.

>best gambling
I play poker and sports bet mainly. Honestly, I like playing the smaller off the beaten path poker rooms in Vegas that aren't full of misregs. I LOVED the Mirage poker room. Cosmo is good for regular pit games. Vegas is getting very bad for low limit players now though.

>favorite pool
Only ever been to the TI pool. Honestly, I can swim at home and don't go to Vegas for pools. I've only been single for 1 trip to Las Vegas so I'm not trying to hook up with any women. Pools don't appeal to me.

>best bars
I guess it depends on what you mean by "best"? On strip the cheapest drinks are at Casino Royale. I liked the sportsbar in the TI bookie, the casino bars at Venetian and PH treated me really well while playing video poker. O'shea's sovl is long gone and it's a hollowed out corporate shell of what it used to be. Most of the night clubs I've been to in Vegas in my 20s are long gone. The Barcade at Area 15 was a pretty neat off the strip place to drink too.

Area 15 (Meow Wolf) and the Neon museum are worth seeing. Last trip to Vegas was the first time I had been to Freemont Street since probably 2010 and I forgot how fun it is down there if you avoid the scumbags and degenerates.
>>
>>2715959
>i don't go to vegas for food
what? vegas is unironically one of the best food towns on earth. you can't not eat something good there
>vegas is very bad for low limit poker players
westgate and golden nugget still have 1/2 NLHE with good availability, usually 1-2 tables at westgate and 2-3 at GN
>>
>>2715970
I'll usually get one nice dinner every trip, but I like to drink and drink a lot. Food gets in the way of that lmao.
>>
>>2715970
>vegas is very bad for low limit poker players

Also, I believe you misunderstood me. Vegas is bad for low limit gamblers, not poker players. Poker is about the only thing Vegas does better for lower limit players than your local riverboat. 1-2/1-3/2-5 games still thrive out there along with other styles of poker and more daily tournaments than you can play. Poker is great in Las Vegas.

As for low limit gaming. Triple zero roulette, shitty blackjack games (6:5 and other gimmicks) 40 of the same high volatility hold and spin slots that are re-themed, shitty pay tables on video poker, virtual table games, crapless craps... the list goes on and on.

The average gambler with a $500 gambling budget for Vegas is going to get rinsed playing these games and they don't even know it.

>I also enjoyed Zumanity when it was open.
Zumanity fucking sucked.
> I like playing the smaller off the beaten path poker rooms in Vegas that aren't full of misregs.
>I LOVED the Mirage poker room
Yeah the "off the beaten path" Mirage.
Getting larp vibes from your post.
>>
>>2715979
Yes Mirage isn't a popular poker room you fucking faggot and it hasn't been since the mid 2000s. Last time I played there is was 2 tables of OMCs killing time until they croak.

Red Rock, Valley of Fire, Mount Charleston, Desert Refuge National Park, take your pick. Just don't do what those Germans did and act surprised when Death Valley kills you.

>>
>>2716197
Some of the mountains near Vegas are high enough that when Vegas 110F in summer it will be like 80F at altitude and it’s not bad
>>
>>2716202
Akshually what you're referring to as Las Vegas is really a combination of Paradise and unincorporated Clark County.
>>
Not sure what happened to my other post but…

Has anyone here been to whispers or anything like that? I’m going to Vegas next month for a wedding and my wife wants to go wild. One of her mom friends told her about the green room which started this but after looking at reviews it seems like a lame sausage fest where as whispers is couples only and has alcohol. Not sure what to do since I’ve never done anything like this before but I guess at the least we will have sex in front of people? We are both 34 and in decent shape.
>>
>>2716252
Sex clubs are disgusting anon just chat up other couples at casino bars and try it that way
>>
I was in Vegas recently and enjoyed the Blackjack tables, but it occured to me that I'm a shit Jackblack player. Is there a recommended game version or similar, perhaps something with some tutorials, that I can use to practice so I can git gud for my next trip? If you have any similar for other gambling games that'd be appreciated too

It was a comfy vibe getting free drinks and playing for hours on end talking shit with the other patrons

Learn basic strategy and use discretion in game choice. Not all blackjack games are created equal.

Try to look for games with surrender, dealer stands on soft 17 and 3:2 payouts. Although you'll likely be paying a premium (50-100 min) to play such games.

Avoid sucker side bets and gimmick games like free bet blackjack. Dip your toe into card counting videos online and you can improve your game selection and play without learning to count.
>>
