Hi OP,
I'll be staying in South Africa from November til the end of January, so this is very much related to my interest.
I will be staying in Cape Town, though I do consider booking a flight to Joburg to check out Kruger National park.
I would appreciate if you could provide me with more information about the cheetah conservation site. How long will you volunteer there, how much will it cost you, have you done similar activities in the past?
>>
Enjoy the wildlife!
>>

hi! its by joburg, its 2k for 3 weeks. i volunteer at animal shelters but nothing else. i just saw it and applied. there is also the cheetah conservation fund in namibia if you wanna volunteer that is easier probably if you are in cape town
i think kruger has some crime but if you arent alone or know locals you should be fine
the site itself just does breeds and releases wildlife, looks really cool
if you have more questions id be happy to answer what i can

I looked at this and got the information years ago and haven't booked it because it's far and I am tired of moving around but it's still on my bucket list!

How many shots to get there?

Thanks for the information.
I really like the idea of volunteering in such a shelter because cheetah is one of my favourite animals, but I am not sure if it would be the right thing for me.
I checked out some volunteer promotion material and it looks like it consists mostly of lot of manual work. Plus, I think it wouldn't be possible to build a relationship to the animal in such a short period (I would only do a couple of days at max) so I am not sure if the work would feel rewarding.

Really? I am from Germany and the German federal office doesn't mention any mandatory shots for South Africa (only Hepatitis A/B and rabies are mentioned as optional)
>>
>>2722639
also, forgot to ask, how safe is Joburg? People from Cape Town have been saying that it is even worse.
>>
>>2722722
yeah its a lot of work but its 3 weeks for me and i think that ecsaping from the internet is good
checked btw
and its hep a b tetanis required but just suggested for insurance
>>2722723
its significantly worse than cape town, but you get a driver typically and shouldnt be in the city as you come from or tambo
>>
bumpppp
>>
>>2722723
It depends on where you are in Joburg, if you're talking about Downtown JB (including Hillbrow and Braamfontein), then no unless you go with a tour bus or a tour group, there's a few "decent" areas of downtown, but there really isn't much to do or see there imo
If you do go to Joburg, stay away from downtown and the areas I mentioned (driving on M1 is fine though), though places like the Apartheid Museum, Gold Reef City, and FNB stadium are good the last time I went (back in December 2023)

I am wondering why South Africa as a travel destination isn't more popular on /trv/
Is it perhaps because SA makes more sense for European expats and this site is heavily dominated by Americans?
>>
>>2721061
imagine cheetamaxxing and roping some eliza thornberry goofy SA gf or some quiet slender midnight black african girl with a slender body and insane waist ass thigh ratios. that would be the life no cap
>>
>>2727398
take a look at a map, buddy. how many 4chan posters do you think live in Africa?
>>
>>2727398
I'm not racist but won't go anywhere with more than 1% blacks for safety reasons and just get creeped out looking at them. Is there anywhere in Africa that meets the bare minimum specifications for an OK country?
>>
>>2727452
You're not a racist, you are just a pussy.
Stick to Southeast Asia
>>
>>2721061
>work at a cheetah conservation site,
how do you get a job like that? Is any previous experience required?
>>
>>2727488
Not him, but it's not really a "job", he is paying to be there
