Should I visit Philadelphia or Dallas next May? Would be for 5 days. I'm a euro and have friends in each but have never been
>>
>>2728553
Philadelphia is more interesting than Dallas certainly
>>
>>2728553
Philadelphia for sure
>>
>>2728553
Philadelphia. Museum of the American Revolution, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Mutter Museum, the Mint.
>>
>>2728561

>Philadelphia is more interesting than Dallas
If you find drugged out zombies more interesting than good food and hot southern girls
>>
Both are c-tier cities. Have your Philly friend meet you in DC or your Dallas friend meet you in Austin.
>>
>>2728723
DC sucks compared to Philly. Austin is better than Dallas though OP
>>
I'm sad for you because those are your two choices. I'd go to Philly, spend 1 day, and then take the train to NYC and Washington DC. As a Europoor, you'll like DC with all the free museums. The weather is warm on the east coast in May, but you may get rain. DC and NYC are great for getting around without a car with the metro and subway systems.

There's no reason to do Dallas if you haven't been to the east coast.

I say philly and another plus people aren't mentioning is that you could do a day going to a nice shore town like Cape May and a day going out to Lancaster to see the Amish and try some food. I'd combine that with a hike in the Appalachians

Philadelphia has much more to offer than Dallas.
No contest.
>>
Dallas is a soulless parking lot. Only go there if you like cookie cutter single family homes, financed SUVs and pickup trucks that have never been off road, parking lots, fast food and malls

Philly is a complete shithole but at least there is soul
>>
>>2729073
What's some Amish food to try?

Potato chips

Philadelphia's beautiful in the spring, best time of year there.
Do the old city stuff - liberty bell, American Revolution museum, maybe take some guided tours. There's more history in a few square blocks there than anywhere else in the country. Old city also has plenty of bars and restaurants. Hit the waterfront(deleware) while you're around there.
Make sure to hit the art museum and explore the waterworks and schuykill river trail (foreground in picrel).
Give at least half a day to focus on city hall / reading terminal and rittenhous area.
Check out south St if you want at some point. It's the tackier party section, but be warned it can get sketchy "youths" at night.

>>2729073
These are both nice day trips for people who live in philly, but I wouldn't recommend them to somebody visiting, unless their "visit" is like living there for a month.
>>
>>2729641
Oh, also, if you're a big drinker, you can basically walk down the street with a beer in almost any part of the city except center city. Philly is a heavy heavy drinking town.
>>
>>2729642
Oh, also, if you're a big fentynal addict, you can basically walk down the street with a pipe and a bag in almost any part of the city Philly is a heavy heavy fentytown.
>>
>>2729643
Oh, also, if you're asian, white or hispanic, you can basically walk down the street and get murdered in almost any part of the city Philly is a heavy heavy knockout scene with a Soros DA.
>>
>>2728677
I grew up in Seagoville. Nah, man. My cousin was in a half way house after parole, and spice is big here.
Dallas sucks in many ways. The highway system is one of the reasons the NFL turned Dallas down for the superbowl a few years ago.
Other than the JFK kill spot, there's little to see if real historical note. The one good place we had to eat (Spaghetti warehouse) closed down. Property crime is up. It's basically just Lansing, Michigan with slightly more Mexicans.
All the places to eat are chain spots. The one good catfish place we had fired their old cook and now the food is cool and oily.
Plano is good as a suburban living area, but it's going downhill. It's not "pack of feral pitbulls mauls a cat once a week" bad like seagoville, but it's getting that way.
And all the chicks are fat. There aren't even any good clubs or corners anymore. It's solid depression, entitlement and lard.

OP needs to go to find better options.
>>
>>2729647
Nah most of philly is safe (albeit dirty). The dangerous areas are easy to avoid
>>
>>2729464
>cookie cutter single family homes, financed SUVs and pickup trucks that have never been off road, parking lots, fast food and malls
Cutting edge 15+ years ago but now it's stale

what's the legend to this map?
>>
>>2729464
>cookie cutter single family homes, financed SUVs and pickup trucks that have never been off road, parking lots, fast food and malls
but thats 90% of USA towns

Philly, Boston, NYC, Chicago are the exception cuz they were built by europoors similar to their style
>>

Soros DA made it worse. But you sound like you've never actually lived in philly. I lived in CC through most of his first term. Yes, there are some panhandlers. Yes, stuff could go down anywhere.
Basically all of CC is nice compared to 90% of America. It's only country bumpkins and hicks to believe otherwise because they see videos of Kensington. A neighborhood you would never set foot in unless you were an addict or a hipster who really can't afford to be living in philly.

>>
>>2730224
>>2730223
>>2730278
I live there, it is my favorite neighborhood in the city, mostly cause like you say it has some distinct architecture and a hill. Sadly most of the restaurants and bars on main street are extremely mid. And the amount of women is a bit overrated
>>
Philly. It’s one of the better tourist cities in the U.S. It just has a lot of ghettos due to the high black population. Just stay in one of the nicer neighborhoods or on the main line. Dallas on the other hand is boring as fuck.
>>
>>2729073
>>2729619
Don’t go to Lancaster. It’s as tourist trap as a tourist trap can get. The place is an old nice town that is now filled with Puerto Ricans and the suburb is just miles of strip malls lining six lane highway. All the Amish live way out in the boonies where you’ll never see them and wouldn’t want to.

Valley Forge is kinda neat. The Philly area has some comfy towns. But that’s it. It’s not worth driving way out of the city.

>>2728553
Philly is a very underrated food city. It’s good for tourism because unlike most American cities, it’s walkable/bikable, has a bit history, and lots of good reasonably priced restaurants. The art museum is also cool since it specializes in Western art. The whole second floor is dedicated to pre-modern medieval and renaissance art.
>>
>>2730620
>Philly is a very underrated food city

Lmao this is the go to for marketing interns

>hey fellow traveller's you can get food in this city

I guess that must work on npcs. Imagine traveling your 2 weeks off per year just to buy food.lmao
>>
>>2730731
This thread is about Philly retard. It wasn’t just picked out of a hat. Stay in Jacksonville Florida or whatever other dump you call home if you don’t care about the food enough to mention it in a thread about its merits. Fucking idiot.

>t. eats like this
>>
From a guy who lives in Philly: Fuck this city, but fuck Dallas even more.

From a tourist perspective: This question is a no-brainer. Come to Philly. It is literally where the United States was founded. We have more history here than any other city in America. Dallas has big belt buckles, a shitty american football team, and a spot where a President's head randomly exploded this once time and nobody knows why. That's literally it.

Philly has people from all around the world who have deep family roots in this area. That means we have AMAZING food. You will eat amazingly here.

If you are coming in May, most of the sports will be out of season (although there is an outside chance that the Flyers or Sixers could be making playoff run). Just make sure you catch a Phillies game at the ballpark. Tickets are cheap, and the food is plentiful. You might not understand the rules of baseball, but it is a part of the fabric of American life, and you'll be seeing one of the best teams in the league right now. To understand baseball is to understand the American way of life.

Go a bit north by car and end up in the Pocono Mountains. Go east and you'll be able to spend some time at one of the beaches along the Jersey shore (you might catch a warm enough day in May). Go west and you'll find Amish country. Hop on a northbound train and you will be in New York City in about 2 hours. Hop on a southbound train and you will be in Washington DC in about 2 hours.

Philly is a city full of the nicest and most passionate assholes you will ever meet. Once you understand us, you're likely to fall in love with us.

If you do decide to come, please allow me to be the first to say: Welcome to our beautiful shithole of a city, and fuck you.

As a Bong I quite enjoyed Philadelphia, but that was back in 2016. I doubt you could fill up 5 days there, however.
>>
>>2732365
You sound like a tourist or transplant
>>
>>2732475
>I doubt you could fill up 5 days there, however
Yeah I would add two day trips in.
>>
>>2728553
I hear in shithole Texas you can’t go anywhere without a car. So that would make Philly that has bike lanes, more walk ability, light rail, a subway, suburban rail links to NJ, Amtrak links to many other cities, etc. a much better option.
>>
>>2728553
Philadelphia and it's not even close. You have 5 days in philly? You could see philly in 2-3 days and then go out to Amish country or Bucks or something. Lots of cozy suburbs and exburbs. Hell you could even explore the Main Line on paoli-thorndale.

Anyway... not even close. Philly>>>>>>Dallas.

Dallas is notorious for being one of the most boring cities in America.

Never been to Dallas but know Philly well. It’s very walkable. You can start in South Philly and 3 miles later end in the Fairmount\Art Museum area to the north. So much food in a small area. Grab an Italian hoagie,Philly doesn’t call their sandwiches subs. Hoagie is the word for a long seeded roll filled with meats, cheese lettuce, tomato, onion. Not many places in America have sandwich options like Philly. You obviously hear about cheesesteaks but hoagies, roast pork, chicken cutlet, even a bacon egg and cheese for breakfast are all served on bread that most say is the best due to the east coast water. Mexican food is also very good throughout the city. Lots of great local beer. A concentrated sports complex offers easy access to all the sports teams as well as a casino.

The Reading Terminal is one of the oldest food stalls in the country so many options and lots of Amish treats that folks have mentioned.

In May you can take day trips to the Jersey shore or NYC

Old City as someone mentioned is great for people who are into history.

Like theater? There’s a community and it’s cheaper and more accessible than NYC.

Philly is a great town with passionate people who will tell you how much they love there city. It offers so much and still delivers a good value compared to cities like NYC or Chicago.

he might be a samefag but hes also not wrong

what the fuck is there to do in dallas? its a suburb city that's nice to live in but not to visit. "good food" isn't a argument for dallas when its nearly impossible to get a bad meal in philly and there's tons of hot young girls and a actual arts scene from the 4 or so universities in the area.

just accept your city is fucking boring and move on. you live somewhere like dallas but you visit philly.

t. lives in nyc and goes to philly 4-6x a year because it has sovl (and its a 1.5-2 hour drive away)
