I wanna travel. How to travel? I wanna start small like a weekend vacation somewhere in Europe at first but I don't wanna be scammed by travel agencies who inflate their prices or try to get you to spend more on booking or end up wasting money on a place that I will hate and just spend all my time in my hotell room and fuck hostels. Pls help and ask questions

just use booking.com or some other 3rd party website and then DYOR and make a travel itinerary based on what interests you and what you wanna see and do.
shrimple.

decide on a location. first and foremost you should confirm that wherever you want to go doesn't have any restrictions for people coming from your country. if you're going from first world country to first world country, 99% of the time you should have no issues, but if, say, you're an american going to china, you'll need a VISA. you'll also need to make sure the country you're going to actually has shit you want to see and do, and having a rough itinerary at this point is never a bad idea.

then book a flight, there are hundreds of third party aggregators you can use for this. you can also reserve tickets directly from an airline's website, and in some cases you can even get a better deal or perks this way

book a hotel in the city (or cities) where you plan to stay - preferably somewhere centrally located - for the intended dates that you'll be in the foreign country

flesh out the rest of your itinerary and if necessary arrange for transportation if you intend to go somewhere where you might have difficulty reaching by taxi, bus, or train

wait

it's that simple

familiarize yourself with potential snags or delays caused by visas (on-arrival or embassy) & connecting flights, process of exchanging currencies, locations of currency vendors, associated fees & rates (buying vs selling), atm withdrawals (FX midmarket rate vs your banks rate), which banks offer no FX, atm, or cashback fees. be aware of best practices wrt documentation - keeping multiple copies of your passport & visa stamp in paper & electronic format (email to yourself. and keep an alternate email for use with dodgy WIFI. you may also want to utilize a VPN), emergency cash, how might family western union you money. you'll need to know about sim cards (usa not compatible with eu). be prepared to overpay on at least your first day as you grow accustom to local prices - what might seem cheap may, in fact, be a ripoff. know cost of transport to & from airport - do they use grab, uber, train, taxi (always use meter & negotiate upfront)? is it even possible to use ridesharing for airport pickup or must you move some distance away? have fun anon, its an adventure. oh and get an english-target language dictionary.

>there are hundreds of third party aggregators you can use for this

just know that third-party offer no recompense whatsoever in the case of a missed flight, change of plans, or even allow itinerary modification. IF A RATE IS CHEAP, THEN ITS CHEAP FOR A REASON; LIKELY NO CANCELLATION POLICY. for these reasons booking direct with the airline is advantageous.

>wait. it's that simple.
that's the hard part anon. dealing with the bullshit as you countdown to departure (D-DAY)...
>i'm not going to fight them, i'm going to transcend them...

anon, have you ever seen the film "The Talented Mr. Ripley" or "The Beach"? you can be inspired to overcome whatever reluctance or doubts you possess to travel.

Nothing wrong with walking a fair distance to the places you want to visit. It's good to stay active while traveling. I prefer stay within 2 km of a transit center to avoid the need for a taxi or rideshare.

That site and wikitravel can help greatly with figuring out how to get from the airport to your lodgings without shelling out for a taxi - airport taxi ripoffs are very common around the world.
