>learn how to code for two years using Odin Project
>make dozens of projects, volunteer to make full fledged websites for local organizations, even get paid for a few
>still can't even get an interview for a coding job
It's over. I don't have a degree. I DO have $80k to start a fully remote business that will net me $2k a month so I can live overseas. What type business should I make though?
>>
>>2731558
is the state of coding really that bad now? I'd imagine things will increasingly go downhill as AI gets better at coding. I fell for the comptia trifecta meme, but that was just for a backup plan. idk, maybe IT has a more optimistic outlook than programming at this point, I have no idea. anyway, even 2k is pretty shit these days unless you're freelancing in india.
>>
>>2731559
its extremely bad. breaking into entry level is impossible right now unless you know somebody or are top 1% type of person. juniors are useless for at a bare minimum 6 months at a company and even after that they still cost more than they are worth. anyone pursuing cs now is literally a retard.
>>
>>2731564
are salaries falling for juniors? honestly, there is probably a lot of bloat in the field since 2020. cut the fat and the top 25-50% of programmers will rise to the top. Data analytics is the new meme field.
>>
>>2731569
i dont do hiring and im not a junior, so i dont know. but probably to some degree. the more important point is there are very, very few entry level jobs and they are extremely competitive. even mid level is very competitive now.

you have to really stand out among hundreds and hundreds of other applicants who have the same degree and gpa. to do that you need to be like literally top 5% at the least. no one is going to see your shit if you are just barely above average. yes there are a LOT of retards in cs programs now, i have seen them.
>>
Yeah I can't even get an internship applied close to 100 right now and only got a handful of rejections.
>>
I got a job in January of this year having done The Odin Project. Work on your resume. That's what I have to do at the moment to find a new job. Just get any job in CS and last there for a year, that will really help.

go FUCK yourselves

this is how it was when i started too about 10 years ago. "CS is ez career insta money" is only true and only has ever been true for ivy league kids who go straight into FAANG or for wunderkindz who have been hacking since they were 5. the first job i got i had to apply to over 300 places. they didn't pay me enough to make ends meet. i had to live with my parents. it was embarassing. it's only after having written probably 100,000 lines of code professionally that i don't really have to worry about how i'm going to get my next paycheck. my point in saying all this is that it's always been hard. treat it like a video game that you know is a masterpiece but you're struggling to beat: git gud. stop blaming the world and start blaming yourself. you can still make it rich with computers.
>>
the best advice i can give is to just start your own business. you'll learn more making 1 dollar by yourself with an app where you did everything yourself then you'll ever learn reading textbooks or doing courses or doing stuff like odin project. worst case scenario is that you have practical experience that nobody gets just from going to college and being a student. best case scenario is you have your own business and you don't need a job anymore.

we WILL work remotely
we WILL fuck about all day on 4chan (as I'm doing now)
we WILL get paid handsomely
we WILL demand high quality, low-paid service from tradies (some retard on a mongolian basket weaving forum ensured we'll have an ample supply)
and we WILL get paid handsomely for it
sorry but...uh... we just WILL ok hahahahahaha

Nice strawman retard I make more money then you ever will
Back to updating your jira board and your mandatory dei session faggot lmao
>>
>>2731948
I’m a dork*
>>
>>2731907
There’s only money in trades if you get beyond doing grunt work and start your own business. Too bad boomers don’t want to hire apprentices.
>>
>>2731941
Not sure if bait but what do you do remotely?
>>
Will remote jobs ever go beyond STEM and expand into other white collar work? It’s pretty stupid seeing people still pining after programming or SWE jobs when the time for getting in has passed
>>
>>2731558
Wow this board is really /biz/ without retards, jeets and other coinniggers.
>>
>>2731564
>>2731559
when did things get this bad? it feels like it happened overnight I only just over last 3 months or so been hearing its incredibly hard to break through now.

Did big tech finally realize 80% of the wfh swe are useless?
>>
>>2734214
God please let it continue this whole thread is making me wet. I’m just imagining all these zoomer dorkers who pretentiously adjusted their glasses as chad and Stacy walked by them on campus, thinking to themselves
>”hah! Just fuckin wait. In 2 years, I’m gonna graduate and snag a remote job! I’ll be getting my 5 inch pecker played with in pattaya and arbitraging my remote salary! Hope the partying was worth it :^)”
Only to graduate and start the dorker scramble for a job that lasts hundreds of applications and dozens of months. Enjoy! If I can’t live in Thailand, NOBODY CAN! AAAAAHAHAHAHAH
>>
>>2734214
Massive bubble up until 2022, then collapse and interest rates shooting up. It's going back to normal. Fake jobs for a fake economy. There will be a shortage of programmers again in 5 years from all the CS student drops.
