What's a good European city to travel to for a few days just to get used to being outside of my own country?I've never travelled abroad and have no idea how airports and shit work. Before I do any periods of extended travelling in exotic places I want to learn the basics in a relatively safe environment. I was thinking about Oslo but figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has any better recommendations.
>>2731799Would help to know where you're coming from.I'd recommend the UK or the Netherlands for native English speakers
Fuck Europe. Tokyo or Taipei
>>2731800I live in the UK, you're right probably should've clarified. I thought Netherlands was just for drugs and prostitution?
>>2731805beautiful cities and it's retard-proof for tourists. Berlin is also an option, but Germany sucks ass
>>2731805>I thought Netherlands was just for drugs and prostitution? So this is the state of things. The vast majority of tourists do not engage with any of that, they explore the beautiful cities. Utrecht is definitely worth visiting. Any nordic country will be easy-mode, Iceland included.
>>2731799any major european capital would be ok anonparis berlin brussels amsterdam prague madrid oslo stockholm helsinki vienna etc etcthey've all got enough stuff to do for a few days break and are easy enough to get aroundcheck the weather and so on before you go and keep in mind that as we get closer to christmas things are going to get more expensivebut just get on the plane and go. there's a big world out there
wherever has a convenient/affordable flight anonmalaga or palma de mallorca - both are fine for 3ish days, cater to lots of northern euro tourists - its not chavy there are adjacent resorts that are for that, easy to get to. there is basically an old town/central core you'd spend time in.Seville and Madrid have more to see, bigger cities to navigate, perfectly comfortable imo. Barcelona i think has a lot to see, but i was annoyed during my time there.verona is super comfy, has plenty of old buildings, small enough it doesn't have the unavoidable hordes of gypsies and illegals trying to scam tourists on the street.a little out the way only 100k population, trento and bolzano are very comfy. bolzano might be into ski season now tho, its like 50/50 italian and geramn languagei like milan a lot, easy subway system, its italian so there is slight 3rd world chaos but not full on and less so compared to further south cities. people complain it is not as beautiful as other italian cities, but i love it, its better looking than most of uk. there is only a very central core where gypsies and illegals approach you if you stand too long in front of the tourist attraction. it is a very centralized hub with dozens of great day trip possibilities so if u wanted to try doing that there are plenty, bergamo is a classic one. turin is also similar but smaller, better city core architecture but less famous specific sights. places like florence and venice are very beautiful, tons of attractions, but due to tourists they get more annoying gypsies. lisbon is very cool, hilly city, widespread. some annoying gypsies but they just want to sell u fake drugs maybe snatch your wallet if you bite, but if you aren't engaging during the daytime its no big deal. i liked lyon also, they have more africans and muzz than the other cities i mentioned but i didnt notice annoying interrupting touristsif u don't mind the cold (weather and hospitality), tallinn is very good, also xmas market
>>2731805>I thought Netherlands was just for drugs and prostitution?how do u think you would travel?you have subjects that are of interest to you, or you find a place and look into what subjects of interest it has to offer?history, art history, museums, food, national sport/pasttimes, rural areas, villages, old cities, contemporary cities, corporate tourist attractions - experiencing the similarities and differences to what entertainment/recreational activities are like in the new location vs at home. its ok to think a place isn't interesting but there is plenty you could look into if you had chose to go somewhere to find something you're looking for.
just book anything in Europe anon, who gives a fuck. just commit to it and purchase the flight and think about it later honestly its not hard. just go where the cheapest flight is going
