>>2733811Visited an online friend in El Paso, TX for a week. I wasn't aware of how disgusting his place and roommates was and after the first night I told him I'm getting a hotel for the rest of my stay. His mom wound up having me at her place not far away which was way nicer and more comfortable but then those two would get in arguments.Overall it was a good trip but probably my worst.
>>2733811I went to Bulgaria with my classmates during the last year of high school. We principally stayed in Varna and the Golden Sands resort town. Everything looked like shit and there was trash everywhere, it was just so fucking dirty. The people are indifferent or outright unfriendly and will try to scam you every chance they get. I cannot stress enough how scammy bulgarians are against tourists, especially in the resort towns. The food was really bland or tasted like shit everywhere. Out all inclusive hotel bar mixed their spirits with water or some shit because for some reason I could never get drunk from them, so eventually I had to plead them to use like 70% liquor in my cocktail for me to actually taste anything. We tried to buy weed from some local guys and they just took our money and ran away. A friend of mine went into a sketchy strip club and wasn't allowed to leave until he had spent like hundreds of euros there. I got into a fight and sustained some injuries and had to get medical attention, the local thugs didn't let the medic appointed by my travel agency into hotel. Instead I was carted off into some sketchy basement medical centre where I was patched up and charged exorbitant prices and they told me I wasn't allowed to check out of the hotel until I've paid them.Seriously one of the worst countries I've ever been to and I'm never going back.
>>2733811I’ve honestly never had a truly terrible trip. The worst might have been a last-minute trip to the Algarve (beachy/resorty southern Portugal) in the spring during COVID—we were heading for Sicily but quarantine restrictions had us change it, and we wound up in a quite nice house with a pool that was a long drive from anywhere, in weather that was colder and wetter than we’d hoped, when most restaurants and shops still weren’t open. It was wet and cold and boring and gross and we spent a lot of time in a rental car. We then had to reroute our return flight and find expensive PCR tests over the phone in Portuguese. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t actually fun. Sicily would have been warmer and marginally easier but we would have had to shelter in place for ten days when we got back.
